We checked in with a group of 80+ friends on the 18th Nov 23. The a/c in all rooms were not working. We couldn't spend the night inside the rooms. We have complained many times at the reception but nothing was fixed. They didn't bother to take any corrections action to give the required comfort to the guests. Pathetic experience for me for the first time in a Novotel chain. Do not stay in this hotel..

This hotel has no air condition working, the staffs are helpless and no response from the management, we have group of 84 people Check-in on 18th July 2023 and we are all Checking-out very next day. We are unable to sleep without air condition and no fans in the room. Please kindly request you not to stay in this hotel. Very worst experience with Novotel.

Not sure how this low end hotel became a four star hotel. If AC does not work in a hot summer day, then there is a problem . When we complained about this , staff had a very lukewarm response. We were asked to adjust one night! Oh btw the hand soap and body soap bottles were empty. A big “NO” of course…

This place is not as good as it seems. The location is ok and the staff is very friendly. But I cannot say that the other aspects satisfied me. The rooms were pretty small, bathroom as well. Sleeping conditions were medium, breakfast choices were limited and prices were pretty high. I wouldn't recommend that hotel if you want to just rest for one night or something like that. But maybe there are also other things that I didn't have the time to see. I was only there for one night.

Absolutely pathetic hotel and service. DO NOT stay here. You will be losing your money. The building is ancient with dirty rooms that feel like gas chambers. Air conditioning doesn’t work and when we reported to the reception they lie that it’s working. Staff doesn’t seem to care and doesn’t want to help. They did this to a group of 84 people will senior citizens and children. Traumatic experience that led us to checking out the same night. This experience will keep us from booking any Novotel room in future.

Very nice breakfast crew, good breakfast. Nice pool and sauna. The room is average or worse, it is not spotless, walls and corners are dirty, and the shower is designed badly, you cannot shower without flooding the bathroom floor and use a lot of towels. In the end, it's a good place to stay if you know what to expect.

I've been here for 6 weeks and I loved the hotel especially the amazing customer service! Special mention to Attila and Istvan, they were so nice to me and my colleagues, very helpful and they would go the extra mile for the guests. Thank you guys, we will definitely miss you and can't wait to see you soon! Keep up the good work!

The a/c is not working, you're sleep in a room like a sauna, the weather in the street are much colder than inside the rooms, we've changed the room and it even worse. Avoid it... One star to any hotel that doesn't have a good a/c. I've complained many times at the reception but nothing was fixed, staying for a week was a bad idea, it destroyed our vacation.

I live in Budapest and I use the hotel as a meeting space. The hotel is really excellent in terms of it’s convenient location, cheap or sometimes free parking, great coffee and friendly service. It’s also ideally located for people coming together from both Buda and Pest.

They will charge you 50€ for warranty for parking… for 1 night. Even that this parking is 15€/day and protected by the ramp. And you will not get the money back. They will tell you, will get the money after released from their side. NOT TRUE! They will tell you, you have to call the bank, that is not their fault. Not clean: pillow was brownish and the tub had black spots all over.

The location of the hotel is excellent with close by public transport stops. The staffs were helpful. However, the air conditioning in the hotel in our room wasn’t working and had to constantly follow up for two days before we got another room. Staffs were quite helpful. Turkish saunas was under maintenance. The swimming pool temperature was quite low making it like a “cold” pool. Overall satisfactory.

I think this shouldn't be a "4 star hotel" I don't have a problem with the size of the room which is small but the problem is the layout Main problem is the separated toilet & bathroom. The bathroom layout was terrible, old, unmaintained including shower handle, bathtub. Air conditioning also does not "seem to be" working, there is just... weak wind comes out with normal temperature even if we set the desired temp to 5°C and strongest wind. Bad experience.

Dirty, mediocre food, AC never cooled and when reported the reception confirmed us they fixed it, but they didn’t; and when confronted about it we got lied to our faces. The price of 200 a night doesn’t even justify the location. Should cost 70.

You can tell that the Hotel is old when entering especially rooms... Staff is kind. The location is good if you are staying for work and you booked the room because it's in proximity of your office/other. If your staying as a tourist I would recommend to stay elsewhere/closer to "happenings". It's nice, but not on the level of other comparable hotels in the city.

If You are looking for a perfect location for a business or leisure stay, the Novotel Budapest City is a very good choice. Located in calm district with park on site. It’s only 10 minutes by public transport to get you direct to beautiful downtown. However, the think that makes this hotel exceptional in the city is the hospitality service, all members of the hotel staff are incredibly helpful, full of energy and respond promptly to all requests with a smile. It was my first stay at this property and definitely not the last one 😊

Everything was okay. The staff is helpful the hotel is nice but the air conditioner of the room was not working and even after repeated complaints made at the reception there was no solution, they just kept two table fans for use which in my opinion was not good, we asked for a room change also but no response from their side.

Fast checkin, friendly and helpful staff, we stayed for the weekend. The breakfast ist delicious and the F&B is very attentive. Price is great food was very tasty especially the scrambled eggs. The keycards&locks are a bit outdated and can be bothersome otherwise there is nothing do be said.

Stayed in an executive suite booked for two. Was not prepared with only 1 robe/slippers. Tiny bathroom and not that well thought out. Hook for hanging clothes fell off the wall on first use. Room service food was so-so and came in 45 minutes after being told 25 minutes (needed to leave at a certain time). Breakfast buffet was good. Service was acceptable.

Fungus in the shower. Not clean windows, also no view. Shell in Omelette, Omelette was burned at least yesterday, I could eat just part of it. No shower cap, nor house shoes. Sheets are also no clean like I wish i find particles. No water. You have to bring your own but I realized late at night and I had to buy a bottle in the bar where they dare to include service and without asking. Just took my bottle and leave. Never will I stay in any Novotel anywhere.

Have booked a room during the Grand Prix in Hungary. The room i booked was clean and services i got were perfectly fine, but the mall next to it was completely empty. It was dead by daylight, tho' i was there around 1300. I thought a fallout has happened out there. The sunset is mesmerising from the balcony. It's beautiful to see the suns last dying light. Would recommend the hotel wholeheartedly.

Not the newest, not the coziest, but friendly staff, good value for money and not bad location makes this Novotel hotel good choice for couple nights stay in Buda(pest). And even owners of vintage Mercedes' spend the night here ;)

Good hotel for the money. Rooms and not that big but clean. Usually breakfast is great bu last time was quite poor maybe because of the very low no of guests.

Old fashion "modern" hotel; lobby decorated with artificial flowers and plants(!?)... Very convenient position on Buda side but with excellent connection to Pest side trough Erzebet bridge, partly connected to the nice park...Stuff kind and efficient...We enjoy the special rates for seven days stay...

Rooms have somewhat tiny toilets. Intelligent design being splitting the WC from the bathtub/wash basin so that 2 person can handle different things simultaneously. Unfortunate path was the bath tub is quite small (cut off in length) and the WC is super cramped into a small "room". Breakfast spread is reasonable. Less variety when compared to Novotel Krakow City West which I stopped by in the previous leg of my tour. Do note that breakfast is 6.30am on the dot, if you intend to or need to leave early for the day, you have to plan ahead for this.

Really nice place for a conference, although 4 stars as it’s not very close to the historic / tourist city centre. It’s on a nice park with a good restaurant at the other end of it. Conference facilities were good quality and well located.

We are group of 9 people ( 5 adults and 5 children ) who have checked in at the hotel recently today in the afternoon. The WORST receptionist we have met so far , i have to confess . We hardly understood her English , it was quite bad so that it took a while at the reception. .But it wasnt the big problem actually , but the attitude she showed us when we checked in. There was ABSOLUTELY no smile on her face or greetings when we came to her from the beginning. She asked us to pay something that was called “ garantee charge “ which we didn’t understand , for around 40€/ each room ( we have booked 3 rooms at the hotel ) . She could not explain totally what it was for the fee . We asked her to show us the information about it cos we haven’t noticed anything on the website , not either at the place . She began being so RUDE and IMPOLITE when she kinda threw our passports on the reception desk in front of us . We ended up no need to pay that kind of fee , but we all were so shocked how rude she was . Luckily we met a very friendly and really helpful Vietnamese girl who works also at the reception area . She has saved our first day at the hotel anyway !!!! Otherwise , the rooms are good and clean .

Execept for the two boys at the reception Milan and the blond young guy - Nibus (explained everything nicely, showed us everything), sorry mate forgot your name, the rest of the staff was not for that place, which is very representative. Especially when we checked in the girl with the glasses, on the July 29th, very rude, could not manage, could not find our rooms, imagine reservations 1 month in advance for 2 couples, without children and you end up in a family room with 3 beds, crib and what not. And have in mind we vere in the hotel at the correct time, but the rooms were not reday. That girl, honestly did not even tried/could read the reservations. Kept our phone, don't know why, we had to push her to get our phone back. Check in lasted over 40 min - although the sign said fast check in. Wanted to charge us for parking, we didn't had a car at the property and 100 euro deposit. The check out was a different story thanks to those two boys.

The Hotel is an excellent home away from home. Location is superb and easy to get around. Breakfast was sensational. We just booked our second stay in Budapest in the same hotel because the staff. They even upgraded us to their Family Executive room. After arriving from Australia with the kids and a lot of luggage this was greatly appreciated. A special shout to Attila and Istvan for being super friendly and great hosts. Attila showed us how to get around with public transport to all the destinations we inquired about. True gentleman.

This hotel is very conveniently located, in the middle of the city. I would appreciate the staff for their hospitality. I was not well and the staff helped me to find hospital, arranged taxi, coordinated with insurance company. So felt, they went beyond their normal service for guest comfort and well being. I will surely prefer to stay here when i next time visit Budapest.

Hotel has clean and quite spacious rooms. Big advantage is own parking. Food in restaurant is tasty, breakfast rich. Biggest weakness is reception, not all are able to speak English. On top on that, our bed sheet cover was taken by house keeping and never returned. Promise to let us know if it was returned from laundry was not fulfulled.

The hotel is nice, clean on a great location. The rooms are comfortable, breakfast fantastic! Maybe the only a bit annoying thing is the payment reservation on the credit card, we have paid cash, but the reservation is still active (this is now the 2nd day after payment). otherwise everything super!

I had one of the worst experience in staying at a Novotel hotel so far, Despite asking the reception twice for a toilet paper after when it ran out. Other than a polite response that they will immediately send someone and yet no one came. Come one Novotel Management!!, you guys are not running some 10 euro per night youth hostel to deliver such a bad service. I have stayed in other Novotel chain hotels before and I never had such an experience. If I visit Budapest again, this will be the only hotel I will be actively trying to avoid.

Stayed there this July and really happy with service provided, reception team is always very helpful. First time in Budapest and many questions to ask them :) Breakfast offers lots of choices , convenient for travelers with kids.

  • 4/5 Zsolt E. 1 year ago on Google
It is an average hotel. Rooms are tiny for this price (100 EUR per night), especially the toilet is very small, but other than this it is well equipped (though don't expect anything in the minibar, if you don't ask in advance). Breakfast is decent and you have many choices. All in all, 4 stars, as the hotel itself :)

Great hotel for short and long stay in Budapest. It is nearby city Centre, bus/tram stations are very close to the hotel. Rooms are tidy, clean and cozy. There is electrical kettle in the Room + tea, coffe and water. Service is cleaning every day and replacing tea cups and tea/coffee. There is also a TV. On The ground zero you can go to the pool. The only minus is the worse state of bathroom compare to the room, but it was only in our executive room, I don't know how it looks in other rooms. Bed was really comforatable and the bedsheets were clean and warm. Breakfast was very midden, not so bad but not so good either, poor choice of food for veggetarians and vegans. To sum up I recommend this hotel while your are staying at Budapest.

  • 4/5 Aleksa L. 1 year ago on Google
Great Hotel to stay in Budapest, couple with 2 kids. Family room for 4, bed was comfortable, room clean and very quiet. Breakfast was also good you have enough presented food to pick from. Only reason why it's not 5/5, the bathroom shower is a letdown. Bit small and the seal of the door is letting water drip, you have to take care to not spray water everywhere. (Shower Cabin would be much better choice) Staff at the Reception is excellent 👌 and also in the Restaurant. Big free parking included. Would certainly come to this hotel again.

I was on business trip from 4.-6.12. Hotel was close to the office. Nice hotel, but during first night heating was on and for me it was too hot. Next day I opened the window before sleeping and then it was okay. Breakfast is awesome. I like also the hotel bar, where I watched football WM.

  • 5/5 Georgios N. 1 year ago on Google
Highly recommending the breakfast. Rooms: excellent. The hotel has spa and pool. Note that the massage service is not available despite being available in the room/guest services list. Not a deal breaker, just mentioning. Overall: Solid 5/5.
