As expected after reading previous reviews: the room was indeed dusty, dirty mirrors, there was mold in the bathroom, carpet wasn’t vacuumed. Guess we’ll have to blame the supervisors? The breakfast was very poor so I would recommend getting yours somewhere outside of a hotel. There are plenty great breakfast restaurants in town. Staff was nice in general, the room service ladies as well. But one time they "changed" the sheets without actually changing it… After the checkout at the reception they didn’t even ask how the stay was. The location is great, especially for its price. But I really wonder where do the "4 stars" come from… (?)

Only complaint from our end: 1. Bar was open until 23:00 on our first two nights. But when we arrived on the 3rd night at 22:09, it’d shut at 22:00. The reason? A shrug and an apology from Reception and directed us to our mini bar. 2. The cooked breakfast items were all cold or tepid. A cold onion ring/fried mozzarella patty /scrambled eggs is not pleasant. 3. On a positive note: staff exceptionally pleasant, room comfortable and clean, location was great. Would suggest to management that consistency in bar opening/closing times is in customers interest.

I want to be honest and the biggest problem with this hotel is safety. There is no one checking people coming and going and it's very easy to enter and hit the first lifts just past reception. This made my husband very uneasy. We met three receptionists over our 4 day trip and only one had any decent manners. They also act as the bar staff but have zero training. And the bar area just looks closed all the time. Not inviting at all. There is a curtain area behind reception where the staff hide in a little room. When we arrived a man at reception was talking to a woman so we waited patiently. He then went behind the curtain and came out maybe 3 minutes later and we noticed another receptionist was also in the room. So they had just decided to leave us standing there. I know it's a budget hotel but only expecting kindness or a small welcome. Nothing. The room. I'm guessing the beds are maybe from 1980. The mattress was so hard we thought it was a joke. A double room was two singles pushed together with hard piping so couldn't even treat as a double. Pillows horrendous. Our room was over the restaurant so from 6.45am -10am was pure noise of chairs screeching in and out. The safe is not screwed to the wall so we carried our belongings with us all weekend. The included breakfast was actually fair and they tried to meet all the criteria with some hot and cold items. Something for everyone. This hotel isn't in a street full of hotels it's more suburban. Close to the bridge. That's the only blessing of this place. Pay more people it's not worth it. Be safe.

I was very disappointed and suggest to avoid this hotel at all cost. We had problem with guests who were making noise all the night. They were aggressive and abusive. Eventually we had to call the police to restore order. The hotel staff did not offer a different room to us. We literally slept nothing. Apart from this the bathroom had bad small and there were some rotten fruits in one of the shelves when we checked in. The furniture were so old that I'd not consider this hotel as 4 stars. The only positivity was that they provided me with gluten free breakfast.

This was my second visit at Budapest in half a month. This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The location is perfect and very close to the end/ starting point of the line 2 tram. There are also a bunch of stores nearby in case you need something. Rooms were clean, and spacious with all the necessary amenities and a big bathroom. Room cleaning was happening daily as well. My only complain about the room and this definitely goes down to individual preference, is that it was rather hot inside. The reception girls and the gentleman that helped us with our bags were spot on and very kind. The buffet was generous with plenty of options. I would like to state that the girl named Emma that works at the hotel and helped us at the buffet, is amazing at her work and a great asset for you, props to her👍.

This is the most disgusting hotel I've ever been to. I had booked a room for 4 nights and had to leave after just one night. It was absolutely dirty everywhere, mold, completely unsanitary conditions to stay in for even a couple of days. The bug on the bed was the straw that broke the camel's back. It ruined my first night in Budapest. And they dare say it's sanitized and safe!

Hotel had batter days, room is old and poorly maintained, some bulbs are missing and old carpet need to be changed. Sheets, towel, shower are clean and OK. OLD TV, old Air condition, good WIFI. Breakfast was fine, good location, very pleasant and helpful crew.

Discovered this 4 stars hotel by accident, and stayed in it for 3 nights. Booking was simple, my special requests were rapidly approved, and on arrival, the staff was friendly and comprehensive. The room was identical to the pictures on the internet, cleaning was neat, breakfast consistent, and the placement of the hotel very strategic for Tous idk while being in a calm street. I can only recommend ! Date of visit : 9 to 11 of august 2022

Cheap hotel trying to be upmarket. Bed too low and too hard for me. Broken drawer in bedside table. Rusty bathroom bin with a cornerful of dust behind it. Although the bins were emptied, my room was not cleaned, although those of my family members were. My bed was not made nor my towels changed. Breakfasts were horrible, apart from the yoghurt and the scrambled eggs: trouble was, if you wanted them on toast, the only toaster had only two of its four sections working and the other two took an age to brown the toast. Surely a new toaster wouldn't break the bank! The only fruit was apples - otherwise just continental breakfast. The staff at Reception were very helpful but the bar, which closed at 2100, had no white wine and only large bottles of beer. The saving grace for this hotel was its distance to the station which was walkable.

I stayed there for one night. The lobby was quite nice and the toilet there was up to par. However….that is where the fun ended. I took the lift and it did not correspond correctly to my directions. And when i came up to my bedroom, the floor was quite dirty. Not only that but there was a puke stain on my mattress by the pillow side of my bed. It could not get any worse could it? No, the story does not end there….my friends which were in another room haf bed bugs in their room and the staff did not care one bit. But I had a great night sleep.

My group and I got two rooms on very short notice because we missed our flight which was great, however thats where the good things end. When we went to bed we saw in both beds a lot of bedbugs, when we went to the reception they basically just shrugged and offered us another room, clearly not the first time they got this kind of complaint. Nasty place!

The hotel is in a good location and the reception area is welcoming and staff friendly but the cleanliness wasn’t up to scratch. I had to get the housekeeping staff to come straight to the room when we got there as the toilet was not clean from previous guests! Also one of the beds was extremely noisy when my friend turned over in bed.

Overall a great hotel in a good area with lots of restaurants and shops close by. A 10 to 15 minute walk to the parliament building which is the start of the tourist area of town. Breakfast was traditional European with some additional hot choices that changed every day. Staff were friendly and spoke excellent English. Room was clean, but a little tired. I could only get one channel on the TV (CNN international). I would recommend this hotel.

The standard room i stayed in with my girlfriend was terrible, bugs in the room, stains on the walls, very noisy bed, mold in the bathroom (i recorded some videos and took pictures). For me the parking was extremely hard to drive in and out, even with front and back parking sensors (standard sedan car). The hotel is at your service 24h/7 but rooms like this should not be acceptable in 4 or even a 3 star hotel.

Great staff, super friendly, helped advised where to go and what to see. Good breakfast,I am vegan and were able to accommodate. Rooms were nice and really good location with lots of bars & restaurants near by. Went to a darts bar 5 mins away which was really good and a Hungarian cafe which served vegan natural wine near the parliament. Also had really good vegan cafes near by

We booked this hotel for 4 nights as in the pictures look “nice”. When we got there the room we were given was not clean as displayed in the pictures. The hotel in general smelled musty and our room as well. I also found a hair in the toilet, the mirror wasn’t clean at all and the shower had mould. We tried to stay there as we paid and we didn’t want to waste our money, but we couldn’t, so we had to move to other hotel. It was so uncomfortable! I personally couldn’t recommend this hotel.

very bad experience for me and my husband! they cleaned out our suitcases of the money we had saved for the other European stops! we have never happened in any hotel in the world to be robbed in the hotel itself, without the door being forced! the manager and the staff and the manager unable to handle the situation. Dirty rooms, never replacement of bubble bath, I collected dirty glasses in my room. Only in the end did we understand that the time to clean the rooms is spent elsewhere. Highly discouraged, you can't be robbed in a hotel room that you paid for with everyone's approval!

It was wonderful, nice place, tasty beer, We couldn't stay for breakfast (but I think it's delicious and nicely arranged) because our road was long to Moldova, we passed through Budapest. You can find a free parking from 8 pm to 8 am) anywhere just 1 minute from the hotel. Return to Germany we would like to book another room in Marmara, we recommend! RECOMENDACION))) 🥰🥰👋🌺😊😊😊😊😊😊🌷

All round, good.. damage to the bathroom door where is was clear to see the door had been kicked in at some point, small amount of black mould in the shower and poor drainage... Room wasn't that clean. But the location was perfect!

Nice hotel at a good price, we stayed for three days and every was ok. The breakfast is a buffet style with good options, not only for locals. They say that the hotel is in downtown and it is almost true but they are in the downtown limits, but the city is very very walkable is the weather is in your side (it wasn't our case)

A reasonably priced hotel in a good location to see the sights for Budapest. However everything is a hidden extra. No free parking- if you use their car port there is a charge and if that is full they direct you to a partner hotel with extortionate parking charges (600HUF/per 30 mins). Breakfast is also not included and has a €15 per day charge for what is a very simple buffet. On the face of it it's seems a nice room but as you can see in photos on the shower there is mold, there is dust everywhere especially visible on the air condition vent and light fixtures. On the last day when we were checking out we noticed that water was leaking from the air conditioner (see photos) cleaning wasn't that great with the sheets and towels sometimes not being renewed. Hotel is rated 4* which it may be in Hungary but it is 3* at best. Budget hotel with big ideas but no follow through.

Definitely a 4 star hotel! The location is perfect. The parliament building and St. Stephen's Basilica are in walking distance. The rooms were beautiful. The beds were comfy and clean, beautiful furniture, big balcony and a clean bathroom. Not to forget the breakfast: It is delicious. I definitely recommend this Hotel!

Good value hotel for a short break only because of its location. Buffet breakfast not good value for €15. Reception staff were pleasant but only get 2 stars because on the day we arrived I told the front desk that our handbasin plug (room 204) needed repair as we couldn’t raise it with the plunger at the back of the tap. I asked each day of our four night stay for maintenance to sort the issue and was told each time it would be fixed. It wasn’t repaired during our stay so we had to make do without necessary use of the sink.

Pretty hotel near the station with nearby attractions. Margaret island is about 15-20 mins of walking distance. Chain bridge is about half hour away, lessif you take tram/bus. Rooms were nice, neat and clean with toiletries. All this at reasonable price. Recommended.

Pidimme hotellista, huoneessa kahvia ja teetä, pieni kylmäkaappi , joitain hygienia tuotteitakin oli, erittäin ystävällinen ja auttavainen henkilökunta, aamupalakin oli erinomainen , viikon aikana vaihteleva , sijainti hyvä , Tonava lähellä ja juna-asema sekä iso ostoskeskus West End ( 3 kerrosta , yli 400 liikettä) , hop on - hop of bussin pysäkki lähellä ja hotellista sai liput ostettua , ulkotila / terassi oli pieni , hinta-/ laatusuhde ok👍

I stayed here for an entire week and have to admit: the good times of this hotel are over. Another reviewer here described the hotel as filthy, and this resonates with my impression pretty well. Here are the details: Everywhere, from the lobby to the room, you see that dust is at decoration, lines peel up, corners along the walk ways are damaged, lights have different colors of whites, which means that lighting seems strange. In the room, the overall cleanliness was questionable, and the damages continue here in all small details that sum up quickly. DONT COME HERE WITH A CAR. I did, and had to take an elevator down to the basement, which was so small that not even a hand fitted in between the mirrors and the walls, and I had some sort of critical moments when I felt like I almost scratched the car. Very inconvenient, and you have to ask the front desk each and every time to accompany you when parking in or out. Parking outside is expensive and requires Hungarian apps on your phone. Parking fees were around 15€/day. Breakfast was okay, pretty basic. The breakfast room However was cold and not very welcoming. DONT TAKE A ROOM TO THE STREET in case you sleep with open windows. The city tram bothers you all night long, and the trash collection trucks will shake you awake at around 5-6:30am. Exceptionally nice was the staff, and every other hotel in Hungary will for sure be happy to get them. They were welcoming, friendly, helpful. Really good.

This hotel was a disappointment for us. Just to name a few things: - the internet hardly worked and kept disconnecting - the water didn’t go down in the shower - the whole corridor on the 6th floor smelled like urine. It is definitely not a 4 star hotel, though its location is indeed amazing. The staff was kind and polite.

  • 1/5 Makeup L. 2 years ago on Google
I’m leaving one star as the location is good, if it wasn’t for that - there would be (if possible) zero stars. Our room was not cleaned properly, greasy residue on items, floors dirty, bathroom very dirty. I have never stayed somewhere where the hygiene was so terrible. Hotel lists that they have available pay parking but what is not listed is that if your car is over certain length, you can’t fit. This is unacceptable. We needed to park in a different hotel.

We were told the breakfast was open buffet with choices but all it had was mainly meat which was pork even the cheese was mixed with ham, on Internet it says it's Turkish only by name it is . I did tell the receptionist that we don't eat pork and he assured me that there will be choices but I couldn't find it, the price which I paid was twice as the price quoted on Internet would I recommended not a bit. I would give 0 stars but it is not the review page.

  • 2/5 Adele D. 2 years ago on Google
The location is good and staff are quite friendly. They were responsive to my emails prior to my visit. They allow pets and set a bowl and treat in our room for my dog. It is a plus that they have a parking garage that you can reserve a spot for in advance. However, the pros end there. The hotel strikes me as one that emphasizes cost cutting (disguised as environmental friendliness.) I stayed in summer, and the air conditioning was almost non-existent. They use motion sensor lights in the corridor, so you’re greeted by warm, humid darkness when the lift door opens. The rooms really need better cleaning and even renovating. The shower is lined with mold and mildew, and I felt icky all the time. The breakfast is really unappetizing. I never thought I would turn down a pastry, but after sampling one on the first day, I decided not to get any on the second. Despite being pet friendly, there are no pet relief areas set up, so I had to walk my dog to a park that’s half a mile away to get to a grass patch. Would really be great if they had a rooftop pet relief area or something. Unfortunately, I will not be returning or recommending this hotel to anybody.

Rooms and bathrooms feels dirty and used up. Breakfast time is a mess. You have to pay for flip flops, at a 4 star hotel this should be included... Personal undertrained, loud and clumsy. Highly overpriced. Only good point is the location. Central.

In the beginning I will open ..... Do not wait for the pictures. The hotel is located in a place where you can, we came to a room with strong smells of cigarettes and when we complained they wanted to give us a room on the first floor with smells of sewage. The room is really big but old towels. Only, zero-room room service. Small elevators so you sometimes have to go down the emergency stairs down to the dining room. Breakfast is very poor compared to other places in Europe and generally hotels that consider themselves four stars. In short I would not recommend the hotel at all.

Location of the hotel is excellent if you want to go to the Danube river, and very central to other places of interest like Margaret island or Parliament. I stayed here for 4 nights. The room is most comfy adequate, and the shower 🚿 was fantastic. Daily breakfast 🥐 changes and was very satisfying 😋. The WiFi in the room however is very weak. Lousy. Staff are helpful but one or two of them could learn to smile more. Overall a decent hotel and good experience.

The room was not that wide and comfortable as shown in pictures. There was no Balcony, why showing in photos over Booking.com ?? I was having a room on 4th floor towered the streets. Because of the Street noise I couldn’t sleep properly. The room needed a deep cleaning. Carpets in room and floor were very unhygienic and smelly. Walls and lamps were also dusty. The cleaning service also don’t do enough except towels changing. Water flow in shower and toilet seems to be blocked. The shower and washbasin had yellow stains. Moreover the relaxation area in the hotel lobby is very small and unwelcoming. Most disappointing was the breakfast, it is very simple and not meeting everyone’s nutritional need. I definitely do not recommend to stay there. It doesn’t worth how much they charge !

A great location for this hotel in the city centre, near most main attractions. Super close to the central station and the M3 metro line. 10 min walk to Margaret islands. Plenty of restaurants around the corner. Entry hall and breakfast room could do with a little fresh up but all in all a good price / quality deal here. Breakfast is ok as well for the requested price.

Staff were hit and miss, - 1 star shower was broken on arrival +1 star as fixed by the end of the day. Bed was very stiff, I have bruises on my hips from lying on my side in the bed. Felt clean although the soap smelt, uhm, odd. The lift had a moment while we were in it then it was closed down for the rest of the trip but there was another lift. Breakfast was bacon, onion rings and hot dogs one morning, the other it was hot dogs, potatoes circles and scrambled eggs the other. Unusual, but tasty.

We stayed in the Marmara Hotel from 7th to 12th September 2022 and it was a very pleasant experience. The standard rooms perhaps small but once you get an upgrade, as we did, things get lot better. Very friendly staff- Melinda is exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable girl who gave very useful tips, Peter was very helpful too. -both of them would go that extra mile to make you comfortable. One may have wishes better restaurant but then there are couple of eateries nearby, an exceptional Italian restaurant across the street and a Kurdish eatery as well, and food panda ensures home delivery of even small orders- including from best Indian restaurants nearby. My meeting venue, the Hungarian Supreme Court, was less than 150 meters away. Excellent value for money. 9 out of 10

Difficult one this. It was not a 5 star hotel but in terms of value, it was worth 5 stars. The location was really convenient - 15 mins walk and you're right in the middle of the Christmas markets. It was really close to the river for a lovely walk along to see the parliament buildings - that gothic architecture is really something! Anyway, back to the Marmara! 😆 Yes, comfy beds, room was clean, the staff were helpful and friendly and it was very good value. So I would recommend and I would stay again. Only small downsides were breakfast was a little strange at times - potato croquet and onion rings? 🤔😬 That was not to my taste, but there was the usual scrambled eggs (very nice), bread and cheeses, yogurt and a bit of fruit. I've certainly had better, but nothing worth complaining about 😊 There was always an odd smell in the corridor when you left your room. Like last night's Chinese. That was a bit funky and slightly off putting, but you couldn't smell it in the bedrooms, so it was fine 🤷🏽😊

Nice hotel in the heart of Budapest, we stayed there 2 years in a row. The second time, the room was not so thoroughly cleaned (there was dust and hair on the shampoo and soap bottles in the bathroom and a lot of dust on the vents) but we still had a nice time. The breakfast is nice, with a lot of different food options. The hotel offers parking, but there are limited spaces so it's best to book in advance. The staff is nice and friendly.
