For a first visit to Budapest, this hotel has an advantageous location. Much of the old town is walkable as soon as you leave the hotel. The rooms with Danube view are the cherry on the top. This view is beautiful both during the day to see the details and in the evening as a shining picture. The hotel is good, not new, but clean and well maintained. I think the price is justified considering the sum of all factors.

Had a wonderful stay here during my birthday. The hotel staff were kind enough to bring a complementary bottle of Prosecco and dessert to the room. The hotel is in a wonderful location and our room had a view of the Danube. It was spectacular. The hotel is clean and well kept. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be back....

It's a nice hotel with an outdated rooms and bathrooms. The view from the hotel is outstanding during the day and night. The 24-hour gym is fine but the one at the Marriott is better. The pool is a good addition to the hotel and it's open till 9.50pm. The Lebanese restaurant is excellent for its delicious meals, great service of David and the prices. You can get a 12 euro dinner for one person.

The building from outside and inside would need some renovation. However, I understand the property itself is a historical one. The staff itself is kind, professional and helpful. The location is perfect, and the panorama is stunningly beautiful. Everything is close by walking distance. The Danube river is beautiful from the view. Reservation is easy, and there plenty of options.

Located right in the centre of the city. It’s a short walk to anywhere, shops, cafe, sights and food! The only down side is that it’s a 10 min walk to the nearest scooters but the views from the room are sensational. Nice spa and pool after a long day exploring. Although the steam room has broken. Also the spa is good to freshen up if you arrive on an early flight. Don’t eat at this hotel! There are so many places to eat within a 5 minute walk at are half the price and much better local food. The rooms are clean, although very dated. The bathrooms are also small. I had a superior deluxe and it was not big enough for 2 people. The coffee machine is old but works and there are a decent selection of tv channels Be warned! The music from the river boats is loud!!! And down it stop until about 2am. If you want a river view and no noise this is not a hotel for you! Lost a star for noise!

The hotel clearly has not been renovated for some time, the decor is quite outdated but it has some charm to it. If you do get the room on the river side the view makes up for everything- best view in Budapest. And the location is really good, walking distance to the shops and restaurants and even to the Jewish district. There is tram stop just outside - tram 2 which does to the parliament. The reception service was a bit of a let down- when we were checking-in we were not told a lot- nothing about breakfast, spa or even that the executive lounge that we're meant to have access to is not actually open. The service in other areas was good.

Great hotel! A little dated but the rooms are clean and well maintained each day during housekeeping. The staff were so friendly and polite. Location is top notch, right in front of the river and a 5-10 min walk to Vorosmarty square where all the shops and Christmas market are. I did not regret my choice to book this hotel - such value for money. The breakfast was great too!!

Well located hotel in front of the Danube River and the palace. The hotel has a Spa but water are not hot as expected, and good gym. Breakfast is good but lack of fresh vegetables or salads. Service is very professional and the room was clean and well maintained. The TV stuck occasionally but at least it is easy to activate.

Smack in the middle of Central Budapest and close to the river and bridge exit from the city. Very nice if a bit old-fashioned. Rooms are clean, excellent bed with good support and the room had very good water pressure in the bathroom, which is so good for that relaxing shower. Absolutely wonderful breakfast buffet with a broad selection. Professional and friendly staff

We were very comfortable during our stay at the Intercontinental Budapest. It is in a prime location with beautiful views and is convenient to many attractions. The rooms were a good size and there was plenty of hot water with good water pressure for showering/bathing. The beds were ultra comfy. Some reviews state the design is outdated, but I'd describe it as minimalist, and it was clean! I had an issue with my bill after I checked out and the staff resolved it quickly! I can recommend the Intercontinental Budapest with confidence for a clean and comfortable stay!

We were very happy with our stay at the Intercontinental & would stay here again. We stayed 2 nights prior to going on a Viking River Cruise & they hotel was selected by Viking. Great location & friendly staff. We saw a number of pilots & flight attendants as well. We did not use the pool because we didn't have time. Our room faced the palace & river & it was beautiful especially at night.

Shower and bed very good. Loved the view from the room and that the window could be opened a bit. Elaborate and good quality breakfast with fresh juices and they know how to make a nice fresh waffle. Bar area allowed a pleasant drink with a view and helpful and friendly staff. Can recommend several wines on their menu. We felt very comfortable and would love to stay here again. Very nice hotel. Cannot think of a negative comment.

I might have gone with too much expectation, but I was a but disappointed with my stay. First, standard rooms are really not that big. The bed was only 140 cm wide, which is kind of small. There wasn’t enough place for a second bedside table. Also, switching off the light while in bed was kind of tricky since the switch is so far away from the bed. The phone is really outdated, no speed dials were working, not great to order room service…In the bathroom, the paint was peeling off from the ceiling and there was a shower curtain! There’s nothing more disgusting than that in a hotel. The cleaning crew was not really effective either, I found rubbish next to the trash can, which must have dropped when it was emptied. The floor was not vacuumed during my stay and I found a lot a dust. And the staff, though effective, was not the most friendly. All in all, my stay could have been worse, the location really is great and the common areas are really nice but I felt like the hotel didn’t meet the five stars standings. Hope it will be better next time.

Its an intercontinental hotel so its a 5 stat hotel. Great location and the best view on Danube river. Breakfast buffet has a nice variety. Friendly staff. The room size is a bit small and needs some changes- our room curtain was damages a little. Room furniture needs to be renovated. The spa is very good as well. Massages services is great and they have quick ones and 50 minutes. The spa staff could handle the people in a friendly manner specially in weekends when it is packed

Intercontinental Budapest is all about the location. Location, location, location. If you're looking for luxury, it is not these ROOMS.. The hotel is beautiful, and the executive lounge was amazing. The staff was knowledgeable. The location is EXCELLENT. The room was DATED, the wallpaper was old, the carpet didn't look clean, the furniture had clips on the desk and chair, there was.NO update to sockets, we had to climb into the old shower/tub combination, the couch was low, the power blow in our room, but the LOCATION WAS 100000000 worth it!!! If you can get past dated rooms while on holiday, in exchange for a beautiful view, this is the Hotel. The hotel is close to everything. You can walk everywhere. It's so safe and beautiful. We would stay again, knowing it's the location and not luxury.

Lives to the reputation of being a 5 star as far service is concerned. Very accommodative and upgraded us to a family room in high floor with view of Buda castle upon request. A surprise cake for us to celebrate a family occasion and prompt service for any request we made. Pool/spa is small but well maintained. Breakfast is excellent. As a recommendation, Need more dining options beyond the Lebanese cuisine. No complaints otherwise and will highly recommend

One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The welcome at reception was great, probably helped that I was upgraded to a suite which was amazing. Perfectly clean, fresh decor, super comfy bed, full bathroom suite and a great view of the Danube. The breakfast looked fantastic, but I only had five minutes and couldn't do it justice. I will return, for sure (not today, for more breakfast, but another time)

I stopped by this hotel for a drink on my way back to the Castle after a walk down the hill and just after crossing the bridge. It’s an elegant place, old fashioned palace, timeless feel, yet it remains very charming. The ambiance reminded me of a hotel lobby in Las Vegas. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time, seated on a sofa with cocktails, enjoying a view of the castle lit up at night. I really appreciated the atmosphere and recommend that even those not staying at the hotel take a break here to enjoy its cozy ambiance.

Incredible location, right on the river and across the Castle. Everything was functional, clean and comfortable, buts it’s showing it’s age. Furniture and fixtures are a bit aged, and the lobby needs a refresh. This hotel is very popular with the cruise lines so be prepared for crowds during cruising season.

Location, location, location! A room with a view of Buda Castle and Chain bridge. Convenient to walk, bike or scooter around from. Loved the breakfast options, beautiful lobby, great fitness center, and friendly staff. Comfortable room/bed.

Great hotel and busy hotel in an amazing location. The rooms could be updated but other than that is hotel is great. Staff was always very helpful. The breakfast is unbelievable! So much variety and quality is five stars. The food at the restaurant was very tasty. I can recommend the burrata and seafood risotto. We order room service a few nights and it was always excellent!

Great location and fantastic concierge services throughout our stay. Rooms of good size but showing some age around the edges. Comfortable bed, desk and good sized bathroom. Smelled as if a smoker had been in the room in the past though a smoke free room. Would stay here again just based on service and location. Bar on main level with water views was great as well.

The InterContinental Hotel in Budapest is a true gem among the city's luxury accommodations. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of elegance and comfort. The hotel's location along the Danube, with breathtaking views of the Buda Castle and Chain Bridge, is truly unbeatable. The rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed, and offer every modern convenience one could desire. What sets the InterContinental apart, however, is its exceptional service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure a memorable stay. Whether it's dining at the hotel's restaurants, relaxing at the spa, or simply enjoying a drink at the bar, the experience is consistently top-notch. The InterContinental Budapest is a haven of tranquility and sophistication in the heart of this vibrant city. It's a place that I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay in Budapest.

We stayed at this hotel in September. It’s centrally located, and you can walk to the city Center and restaurants. The views are amazing. The hotel is very busy, and they could use more receptionists. The breakfast is very good. The rooms are nice, but you need to be careful with the deep tub. Although they have a bar that I was holding to I still managed to slip in the tub and fell on my ear, which bled the whole day. You also need to make sure that your rooms get serviced. Although we left a sign to clean our room, yet we came ack to dirty rooms.

Magnificent location with a great view from the Danube River. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The breakfast offers all kinds of options for you and it is open for several hours unlike other hotels. It is definitely a good place to stay while visiting Budapest and everything is close and you can walk around.

Classic Intercontinental hotel, rooms little bit old. Perfect location, walking distance from all major attractions. Great views of Buda castle and bridge. Service is lacking personal approach, especially at the Club lounge there was a lack of attention. At 5-star Intercontinental hotel you would expect the Club lounge staff remembers a Diamond ambassador member without asking for a room number multiple times per day. Club lounge food selection is somewhat limited, better should be provided at a 5-star hotel. Hotel has a good spa, with pool, sauna and steam bath available.

Great Location on the banks of the Danube. We stayed here for two nights prior to our river cruise. Lots of Americans staying here for the same reason as multiple cruise companies have desks set up here. The included breakfast was great! Many exotic choices of food, most of which tasted great. The lounge is also nice in the evening to visit with new friends while sipping on some good wines.

Be careful at this hotel. We were charged a restaurant fee of around $80.00 that we did not have. The hotel did not provide a copy of the dinner they said we had there. BECAUSE WE DID NOT HAVE DINNER THERE. BEWARE WHEN YOU STAY HERE. I would give it -10 stars if I could.

Incredible location - we stayed in one of the river view rooms, and it was absolutely gorgeous, looking out at the beautiful Buda castle and chain bridge. Squeaky clean and comfortable as expected, and warm and friendly staff who always serve with a smile!

Fantastic on all levels, customer service, comfort and quality. Great breakfast and Lebanese restaurant. Bar is nice with live music. Covid controls in place but you don't feel trapped. Amazing views and location. Staff are particularly helpful and friendly!

Great location. Superior service from check in to bellman. Great breakfast buffet. Nice restaurant & bar area serving unique cocktails. Try the Rubik Cube. Yummy! Also close to walking the pedestrian shopping area. Tram stop right outside.

We came only for one night but wish we could stay more. The staff is very helpful and attentive- the concierge helped us with some reservations. We got the river view room and the view is amazing. Almost the entire wall is a window right to the Buda Castle. Even more impressive at night. The room was spacious and not too expensive- great value for money.

Hotel is definitely not 5*. On arrival there were no porters to take our luggage from the taxi. We had to ask for one at the reception. On entering our room the porter did not explain where the safe was, or the facilities in the room. Whilst not saying the hotel was dirty, it definitely was not sparkling clean. Staff some were very good but some were no good . They were indifferent with a couldn't care less attitude and doing you a favor by helping you. The only redeeming feature was the breakfast room and staff. The breakfast was excellent and so were the waiters and waitresses in the dining room. Overall a disappointing hotel.

Excellent service received with warm Hungarian hospitality. Spacious rooms, on the waterside with a great view on the Széchenyi Chain Bridge and the Buda Castle. The hotel is located in the centre, therefore, you're able to discover the city easily in various ways.

Very solid hotel. Amazing view of the Danube. Breakfast was wonderful too with great service. It’s close to tons of restaurants and bars and shops. Less than a kilometer to St Stephen church. It has a great restaurant too (ARZ).

  • 2/5 Wayland W. 10 months ago on Google
The hotel struggles to accommodate the mountains of river cruise tour groups and other tour groups that frequented this hotel when I was there. This left the rest of us on casual holiday feeling shafted and ignored. Reception completely forgot about our special occasion. Front desk computer systems failed several times, staff was visibly tired, and had come to the point of not caring for whatever requests came from the droves of demanding guests. Breakfast was chaos and a mad rush to certain food items that would sometimes run out. Rooms and bathrooms were noticeably smaller than in any other Intercontinental Hotel I’ve stayed at. We had a nice view of the Danube though. To top it off, the bridge across the Danube, fronting the hotel is off limits to foot and private vehicle traffic. There is a tiny restriction sign often blocked by police standing in front of it. Police are waiting on the other end of the bridge to hand out $90 USD tickets to all the foreigners who mistakenly drive across the bridge. It’s a great money maker for the city but I would have hoped that the Intercontinental Budapest would have warned arriving guests about the traffic restrictions. I did not get the 5-star hotel experience expected from this Intercontinental hotel.

  • 4/5 Camille D. 2 years ago on Google
We had a room with Danube view. I have to say it is really nice, especially at night. The room itself was nice, the super king size bed very comfortable. The swimming pool and the spa are a bit small so I would advise to go when less crowded. The staff is friendly and quite helpful though the main door was often left unattended. The location of the hotel is ideal if you want to enjoy the city. Some features of the hotel did not quite feel like 5* (it overall felt a bit "aging", old). We were not pleasantly surprised by some "hidden" fees such as being charged 35 euros per person per stay, to be spent on room service and such. At the end of our stay we could not understand how some of this money had been spent, as the sum left did not match with the money spent on a meal.

  • 5/5 Bilal S. 2 years ago on Google
Great experience at Intercontinental Budapest! Excellent location, friendly and helpful front desk and servers in the restaurant, especially during breakfast which was a busy time. The breakfast buffet is good with variety and options for all. It did get repetitive and would have appreciated some changes in the menu. Room was well assigned and the view is amazing. Yes, the furniture design is old but it is not chipping or scratched and is in decent condition. Would visit again.

We really enjoyed our time in the Intercontinental. The river views are splendid, extremely dreamy and romantic. Okay gym and spa, as long as it’s not a busy period. Amazing location.

Lovely hotel in a brilliant location for a number of tourist sites and nice bars and cafes not too far away. Rooms are clean and comfy. Staff are friendly. Bar is a nice place to have a drink before heading out in the evening, with a view is the Danube and castle opposite. Great breakfast as well.

The InterContinental Budapest is located at the beautiful riverside of Budapest on the Pest side of the city. The staff is nice, check-in quick, the rooms are clean and well kept. All important sites are within walking distance, if you are in for a longer walk, you can even reach the Buda castle by foot. There is a minibar in the room, as well as a coffee maker and an electric kettle. Sometimes it is hard to catch a lift and their is no staircase to reach the lobby when you are on your floor or at least we could not find it. However, we had a great stay. I can easily recommend the hotel to other travellers.

  • 4/5 Thomas B. 1 year ago on Google
If the bathroom was larger, I’d rate this place 5 stars. Will definitely stay here again. Room view was amazing, I wish I had a night view pic from the room of everything lit up to post! The food and drinks downstairs were top notch, try the shrimp soup. Very friendly staff, and a pool/spa with massages, steam/sauna, and exercise room. Downtown, walking distance to multiple Christmas markets, and there was always a English speaking taxi driver on standby out front.

I recently stayed at the InterContinental hotel in Budapest was extremely impressed with my experience. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many popular attractions, such as shopping and the Ferry. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the views of the city from the upper floors are breathtaking. I also enjoyed the delicious food and drinks at the hotel restaurant and bar. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the InterContinental Hotel to anyone visiting Budapest. The price is reasonable and the atmosphere is upscale and chic. It's the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a business trip.

Stayed 3 nights in late November before boarding on a Viking Cruise. Room views of the river were picture perfect facing the Buda Castle plus train that runs the stretch of the river is just a few yards away. Had a great stay.
