(Translated by Google) The coffees and cakes were delicious. From the latter, there was little supply and we received "child rations." After we sat down at our place (the restaurant was dark and airless, the air conditioning didn’t go either) the other bartender girl took out a bunch of cookies in advance. They could have said that there are other kinds of sweets "on the back, hidden". It wasn't very customer friendly. The women’s sink didn’t work, so everyone went to the man, which resulted in pretty awkward situations. It’s just “icing on the cake” that unlike their other cafes, they don’t accept the NICE card here. Why not ?? From now on, we will go back to our well-proven place, where it is not an obstacle + there is also natural sunlight and ventilation. (Original) A kĂĄvĂ©k Ă©s a sĂŒtemĂ©nyek finomak voltak.

We discovered this place by accident and it’s probably the best coffee place in Budapest. Concept of this place is that they offer coffee variations from all of the world with authentic ingredients and preparation - for instance beduin coffee made on a hot sand. You can select from Italian, French, Latin-American, Arabic and more. Non-coffee drinkers can select hot chocolate variations or some loose leaf tea. The place has very cozy atmosphere. I strongly recommend Nicaraguan tobacco coffee which is really specific. You can also buy some whole bean coffee - flavored or single origin.

Check out the Armenian orange coffee here. It’s a Turkish-style coffee with orange peels for that extra kick and zest, truly a unique combo

This place probably has more coffee selections than a Starbucks Reserve. Quirky, chill, friendly, and not very busy. Perfect place to hang out with a book or a date. Very reasonable prices too (700-1000 HUF). Recommended: flat white, Ethiopian ice caramel ginger latte. Not recommended: Casablanca cream mint latte (watery).

What a great idea for a cafe! Definitely stop by to try one of the so many varieties of coffee they serve from all over the world. The coffee is delicious and not expensive at all! It was great to try coffees from Bora Bora, Japan and Rio. If we went there on our first day of the Budapest trip we would be going back there every day but we only tried it on the last day of our trip.

For people who loves coffee, this place is a complete dream! The menu is huge and it's kind complicated to decide which coffee to try. From different places, different combinations and for every taste. I asked for an Arabic Coffee - Gahwa, and it was completely amazing! The Saigon Apple-Caramel was the perfect match. The place is cozy and colorful. A great experience.

(Translated by Google) The Bedouin coffee we asked for was like a water espresso, there was nothing cardamom in it, it was “brewed” for 1 minute. When we went there that it wasn’t quite like what we drank last time, the barista was outraged and put in an extra spoonful of white powder so it would taste like that then. Because we didn’t want to tease, we accepted, but the barista’s attitude was outrageous. We're not going there anymore.

The place looks dull from the outside, we almost skipped over it in search for coffe. Lucky we didn't. The place has a ton of interesting coffee blends, the coffee itself is rich and well made, the little patisserie is also well executed. Prices are great. Only possible drawback is the place is self service (we didn't mind)

The serious art of coffee, I recommend first go to a table and start reading the menu book, so many wonderful choices. Not for 'in a hurry' times, slow down and enjoy.

It’s an incredible place! You can choose from cafes all over the world, the staff is really kind and they wait until you decide what to order (it can take a long time bc of the many options!) the place is super cozy and the coffee was delicious! I asked for a Costa Rica coconut coffee, best pick ever!

Something for everyone, whether it be a health concoction, Italian/French/Latin/Arab/American/Japanese coffee, or hot chocolate from around the world. All of ours were well made and the shop had ample seating. Ask for a brochure in your language, sit awhile to decide and enjoy.

I came here for a coffee. I have never been here before so it was a bit difficult for me to choose among the coffees and types. The lady at the bar was super friendly and helpful, so I chose a frappe. It was very delicious and nice taste. The coconut and the lemon flavor were not too much it was perfectly enough. I am pretty sure I will be back to taste more coffee.

I've had coffee at Cafe Frei before and it still doesn't disappoint! The variety of choices is massive and especially they are devided by country as well, I think it's a nice touch for the ones that have an adventurous spirit! Even just for the experience is really worth it, but what I'd DEFINITELY RECOMMEND would be the Tabaco Coffee ☕ it's divine! The atmosphere was alright mainly because it was filled with people, but nevertheless we found a really nice spot!

  • 5/5 Jan R. 5 months ago on Google
The place is clean, the prices there are fine and the staff members are nice. On the other hand, we didn't like that the plates we were to use were just taken in front of us from the dishwasher, and the remaining dirt was wiped off just using a paper tissue. Also, we recommend taking better care of the restrooms.

This place offered really interesting espresso-based coffee options. We had the an iced coffee infused with orange (syrup), iced tea and hot cocoa. So good I'm still thinking about it 3 weeks later. Wanted to go back once more but never made it.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this cafe. Honestly, the Americano I ordered was one of the worst I've ever been served. The beans were probably either low quality, stale or poorly roasted. It tasted like only a single shot was used, which was stretched with too much water that was too hot. It's not hyperbole to compare the result to coffee I've been served on flights, which isn't exactly a high standard for a cafe to aspire. The final issue was that, even though this location was not busy, it took about 10 minutes to produce one terrible Americano. In the end, there are many good cafes in Budapest that deserve your business more than this one.

I recently visited Café Frei and had a mixed experience. The service was exceptional, with the staff being very friendly and accommodating. They made me feel welcome and were attentive throughout my visit. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the cakes. They were absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of flavors to choose from. I highly recommend trying their cakes if you have a sweet tooth. However, I was slightly disappointed with the drinks. While they had a good selection, I found them to be oversweetened and they left an unnatural aftertaste. It would have been better if they had offered a range of sweetness options or allowed customers to customize their drinks to suit their preferences. Overall, Café Frei is a decent place to visit for their friendly service and excellent cakes. However, if you're sensitive to overly sweetened drinks, you might want to consider other options.

The cafe frei at the Vaci Utca is directly location on the number one shopping mile in Budapest and it is near the great market hall. There are a lot of sitting places inside the cafe and outside they have only 2 small tables, which are not that comfortable. We had some espresso and one lemonade. The coffee taste was not that good and very thin and less of taste. They have to adjust the coffee grinder or the setting of the machine. The quality of the cafe is not that good as the other cafe frei, but you have a huge selection of different tastes. Unfortunately on the street of the other side a construction area, but it will be finished in the next months.

Came during weekday lunchtime, it has only 2 other tables but still kinda noisy, so I can imagine when it is packed how loud it will be in here. Cake is great I ordered the orange ice coffee, very interesting and def would try to replicate it at home. Barista do speak English and they have an english menu near the check out too.

This cafe is amazing. I’m really picky with my black coffee so I drink it as a french press or aeropress to preserve the scent of the beans, but this barista is amazing. They have a cool looking espresso machine and great barista that make great americanos. I am usually not a fan of americanos due to the tarnished scent during the process of making americano, but it was so good. The scent from the coffee is still alive. Plus, i tried their Sajtos Sonkas Kosar which was also really good. The layers were finely divided and cheese was very creamy, the crunchiness of layers and creaminess had contradicting texture and the bakery had a very pleasant scent. I highly recommend this cafe! Such a good value

Our daily stop, we were staying very close to it so another advantage. It has too many varieties of coffee and we tried a lot of it and had wonderful experience. No compromise on quality. Plus sugar in ice coffees were well maintained, I always worry about too much sugar in drink and thankfully that was not the case here. There whipped cream is amazing, I ordered whatever had cream on it😝. Lemonades and icetea were also good, natural sweet taste from berries and fruits. Loved it. Decore is cosy and peaceful.

If I want to drink a cup of coffee, I go to this place exclusively. This is the BEST coffee in the country. You can chose plenty types of coffees from different countries all around the world. You get your coffee from the best quality of coffee beans with fare trade and very low prices. You can chose from some of teas, smoothies and cakes also of the same quality of course. In summer time they have special natural ice creams too. So, if you have enough time in the city and you want to drink something special from the highest quality straight from homeland of coffees and all of it low prices thanks to totally fare trade, you have to try it. The Cafe Frei is a franchise so you can find it in several places in the city, for example in the malls.
