Just back from a 4 night stay at the Continental. Couldn't fault anything about the hotel. All of the Staff were so pleasant and helpful when required. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during refurbishment and therefore I cant comment on that. Rooms were of a good size, as were the bathrooms. Heating was fine. Decor was fine. Didn't manage to get to the spa/gym/pool. The impressive, large, grandiose reception and gallery area are magnificent and welcoming when you step through the massive revolving doors. We found the location to be exactly what we wanted. A very easy 20 minute (flat) stroll from the city centre and the Danube. Surrounded by small ruin bars and cafes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of taking in the delights of Budapest. A great little holiday.

This hotel was okay for our break in Budapest. From a quite ornate reception, the rooms are fairly standard. The toilet flush didn't stop flushing, the sink didn't drain properly but thankfully these things didn't ruin our trip to Budapest as the hotel was just a base. Breakfast was also okay . . . Staff there were smiley, reception staff a bit less so. The happy hour special offer is restricted to only 3 cocktails. I think "okay" just about sums it up!

On the plus - the hotel is gorgeous, the rooms were clean, the beds were large and comfy, the shower was powerful and the window opened (always a plus for me). The location is excellent. On the less-plus side - the bedroom and bathroom were pretty small (downside of a big bed), there was only one lift (and no stairs) to where our room was and the staff were quite standoffish. Not rude, just not that friendly (with the exception of the trainee who checked us in). Tip for visitors - if you want non-hotel food, there are LOADS of cafes and reasonable restaurants in the surrounding area (especially if you head towards the synagogue).

I loved my stay, and will definitely book here again next time I am in Budapest! The staff were so friendly and helpful, room was lovely, restaurant amazing at dinner. The bar was really nice and quiet, and the pool was nice for a swim. Thank you!

A very beautiful fresh place to stay. I’ve stayed there several times. Mostly had great experiences with the staff and check-in. I would’ve loved that the spa area opened up earlier and closed later. Right now it’s only open from 9-9 id prefer more like from 7-11.

Impressive entrance hall and very friendly service. The room and the bed with the pillows are good. For the gym I don’t had time but it looked good. When I entered my room the temperature was very cold. I takes a lot of time to bring up the temperature. At the first view I was happy about the bathroom but using the bathtub needs a lot of time because the pressure of the water is very low, the temperature of the water needed a lot of time to reach a proper value. In the shower the bracket was cheap plastic which has fallen apart. Same situation with the pressure and the temperature. Not the best start in the day. The breakfast was okay but.

Incredibly friendly staff. Very welcoming and informative. During a late-evening roomservice call the employee on the other end took a calm and informative approach, enlightening me about our options instead of forcing us to make a quick decision. Additionally the hotel itself was beautiful, especially the lobby and outside areas were incredible. Even the rooftop (the SPA floor) had an impressive view. Unfortunately the outdoor pool wasn't open as we were visiting in October, but I'm sure the experience would have been great. All in all a very pleasant stay and one I am more than happy to come back to!

We arrived late at night (1:30) and the staff was really nice. A very kind surprise as we were upgraded to a suite whereas we booked a standard double room. Needless to say that the architecture of the hotel is breathtaking, both from inside to outside. It’s unique. It’s a 5 star hotel. Everything is perfect, breakfast, the spa and pools on the top floor, the modern equipment of the suite. We got the best souvenir ever for our weekend in Budapest! Highly recommend 👍👍

The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well equipped. The beds are large and comfy. The breakfast is ok, maybe a little expensive but lots of choice. But there are lots of other places to eat. The pool is so nice after a busy day sightseeing. But short on sun loungers.

This hotel is not worth all the good reviews. Very dirty to the point you don’t want to touch anything (long hair on towels when we just checked-in, half-empty soap bottles behind the sink, moldy shower head, etc). Staff during check-in told us breakfast is included, but when we actually went there - it’s not. Unbelievably unprofessional. Stay somewhere else. Update: In addition to the above, you will also have zero privacy. Just had someone come in while I was sleeping. When I pointed at the “do not disturb” sign hanging on the door, she smiled and gave an excuse “well I knocked”. No sorry or anything. This hotel deserves 0 stars, not 1. Avoid like the plague.

The hotel was centrally located and it was an easy walk to many places we wanted to visit. The breakfast buffet was amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. Enjoyed using the spa facilities on the top floor. One night we were rushed for time to get to a tour and had the goulash in the bar/cafe. It was delicious!

We stayed here for 6 nights over the f1 weekend. We loved our stay. Our room was spacious and always cleaned. The best thing about the hotel was the unbelievable location. So close to metros but all the places that were on our Budapest location. The roof top pool (don’t set expectations too high) was great to dip in over the course of the stay due to the hot weather. Would recommend this hotel to friends going to Budapest and will stay here again for my next visit to Budapest.

An extremely welcoming and friendly hotel in Budapest city centre. It certainly lives up to it's 4 star rating. Very comfortable rooms, amenities and facilities. We enjoyed a grand buffet breakfast and found all staff, domestic, catering and reception very professional. Thank you.

Hotel was nice. We had a lovely time up until the day before we were leaving. We had a lovely morning out to come back to being locked out of our room. My partner went to reception to see why this was. He was treated horrible. They locked us out of the room because we drank 2 bottles of water from the mini fridge. We were not due to check out till the next day which we would have paid then. We wrote a letter for the general manager which we got no reply. This was very embarrassing the way we were treated. Wouldn't go back after this experience. I would also like to add the massage we had booked for Wednesday afternoon, we were told to pay in tha massage parlour after we got our massage. We had not even got our massage at the time we were locked out.

What a beautiful hotel. From the outside, you would be mistaken if you thought it was a hotel. But once you go through the revolving door, it turns into luxury. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are amazing. But the best bit is the roof garden and pool area. We'll be worth a visit, and we will be staying here again and soon, hopefully.

This hotel has good potential and I can imagine it is lovely in the winter, however our stay was ruined due to the lack of Aircon, the rooms were 25 degrees+ with the Aircon on (apparently). We raised a complaint and we’re told it would be sorted (it wasn’t) and when we raised this at checkout we were told “thanks for your feedback”. This really ruined our stay and we will not be returning unfortunately.

DO NOT COME HERE WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE. Beware of Air Conditioning not cooling the rooms at this hotel. Staff member told us that they can feel the heat too, but they can't do anything about it. Only to get an email from the manager stating that wasn't true, and that it is working fine.

Hidden gem hotel, very well located for famous ruin bars. Nice ambience and character. Hotel renovated to very high standard. Wi fi. Secure lifts. . Close to metro stations too. Quiet off main thoroughfare street. Rooms very good,. Not short of mirrors for make up and dressing! Corridors air conditioned (in hot weather, you know how wonderful that is). New gallery bar not finished early June but soon to be available. Facilities very good with rooftop spa swimming pools (for dips not Olympic!). Living garden roof areas. Totally recommend and I will stay here again next time in Budapest.

Rooms are decent size - but bathroom is small. No irons in room (avail by calling). Cool bar area. Food is very good! My room is fine for 1 person - but would be crowded with 2+.

Amazing staff friendly and always willing to help. Always a good morning avoid afternoon nice to have you back. It's those little touches that make all the difference. The food is lovely we were very very impressed and will highly recommend. We will be visiting this beautiful country again and won't be looking at staying anywhere else other than here. Thank you for making our stay so amazing

We are currently staying here and have a few days left of our pre purchased vacation. The staff that we experienced including the front desk have been poor. Had to change rooms due to issues and then the same lady who moved us, queried the following day about why we were in that room.. the front desk staff seem to feel that it's not there job.

The hotel is centrally located and it was easy to walk to other interesting areas. The decor of the hotel is fabulous. Very opulent. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We didn't eat in the hotel as we like to go out and explore the surrounding areas. We used the sauna and pool. The Wellness area was very clean and the pool was inviting as was the rooftop area. As we had good weather, we were able to relax on the rooftop. The room was clean and modern and very comfortable. Overall we were pleased with every aspect of our stay at this hotel and we would definitely like to return.

We stayed here for 2 nights just before Christmas. The stay was a gift from my girlfriend and during check-in Tamara gave us a complementary upgrade for our room! Thank you very much for making our stay even more special Tamara! The room was very clean, the bed large + comfortable and the bathroom modern with a good shower. The location is perfect to explore the many attractions around the area. It is close to the synagogue and there are a lot of good culinary spots in the near vicinity. We had booked the option with breakfast and this too was very good with a lot of choice. The highlight was freshly prepared Omelette or scrambled eggs with ingredients of your own choice. One night the electricity was out in our room, when we came back late at night (probably our hairdryer had caused a short-circuit). The night staff and security guard immediately helped us restore electricity and I can only commend the staff yet again! Overall we can greatly recommend the hotel - the rooms and location are perfect for a stay in the Hungarian capital and the staff working here showed immaculate professionalism, hospitality and politeness to us and all guests during our stay.

Clean rooms and a lovely spa on the roof! We stayed for my birthday and found the rooms to be very clean. The manager sent us a bottle of champagne to celebrate and we enjoyed using the two pools on the roof. The spa was free to use and not overcrowded. There’s nothing quite like starting the day with a sauna before breakfast.

We spent 5 nights here, a beautiful and well located hotel to all attractions. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast offers plenty of choice, my only disappointment with the food is the a la carte menu which personally fell short on choices but I am fussy. I've taken 1 star off for the room because we found the air conditioning quite noisy and found it hard to sleep, I'm being harsh though because I would recommend this hotel very highly!

The garage did not open, but we pulled over on the taxi sign at the entrance, told the receptionist and one of the staff opened the garage for us with their card, no problem. Shows signs of being a bit worn, but otherwise it is really beautiful. Staff is nice, breakfast has plenty of choices and location is great. Would recommend!

An excellent hotel to stay in Budapest. Comfortable bedrooms, very friendly and helpful staff, super breakfast choices. The rooftop pool, sun beds and relaxing areas were perfect. Spa facilities were ideal. The location was great in that we could go out to explore and come back for a swim and rest , then going out again. We would definitely stay again.

Good hotel, as you would expect for a four star. Staff helpful. Wellness facilities are a nice addition. Location a little further from the center of town than some places, but generally very good and within walking distance of everything you could want to see - feels a bit 'up-and-coming' with a mix of places nearby. Breakfast very nice, busy at times but no significant wait or issues finding a table. Rooms clean and well appointed. Broadly represents good value, if staying in Budapest again I would book here.

Good hotel in a good location. The staff were always on point and any requests were acted upon very quickly. Gallery bar was nice for a quiet drink, breakfast was very good, restaurant like most in area a bit more expensive than we anticipated but great polite service. Location worked well for us and a couple of minutes walk to New York Cafe and stops for hop on hop off tours. Very happy with this choice.

We visited for 3 nights in August. Really beautiful hotel with lovely facilities and rooms. The beds are huge and incredibly comfortable. The staff very helpful and welcoming. Great location for sightseeing, only a 20 minute walk to the river, with plenty to see and do nearby. Lots of shops and places to eat within a few minutes walk. Only downside was when noisy guests return in the middle of the night, the sound carries through the corridors a lot. I was woken up a few times. Very nice hotel though, definitely recommend.

I really hope the Hotel Continental remains in business for a long time to come. I stayed for 4 nights with my girlfriend to experience Budapest for the first time. Our room was great, although basic but that was all we needed. The facilities were clean and a pleasure to access. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Room service was brilliant. Breakfast was a good selection and sustained us throughout the day until dinner time. Recommend more 'non-slip' mats in the wellness area, we saw one lady slip in the walkway on wet tiles and experienced this ourselves which actually was quite dangerous. I would love to return to Budapest and will use Continental again because we really enjoyed it. Thank you so much!

The hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious. There only 2 sauna rooms and they're too small and one of them wasn't even heated properly, it was too cold. The pool is waist deep. The windows are not sound proof, you can hear people talking on the street.

  • 5/5 Marie R. 4 months ago on Google
Amazing hotel great staff and great cleaning staff rooms are really clean and cleaned ever day. Great location for shops and restaurants and bars. Its a really gorgeous hotel. The spa is great to lovely pool and sauna. My only personal issue is that the rooms are really hot (but it's December and freezing outside) so we just bought a fan. I would definitely come back to this hotel and recommend it to anyone thinking of staying.

Quite central if you want to explore the delights and sights of Budapest. A beautiful and well-maintained hotel, which is spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly, attentive, and very efficient. The food was great, and the drinks list was exemplary. We felt that we totally landed on our feet upon arrival and would wholeheartedly recommend The Continental (Don't expect John Wick to turn up!) . When we return to Budapest, we will stay here!

We visited Budapest for the first time on a short break and stayed at the Continental Hotel. We were so pleased with our choice. From check-in to our departure the service received was first class service. Excellent breakfast choice (one of us is a veggie) a lovely well equipped clean room and very friendly & helpful staff. My partner used the pool & sauna which were a definite bonus for a city centre hotel. Located within easy access to the city centre and an array of coffee shops, bars & restaurants on the door step. Would stay again without hesitation. Thank you to all at the Continental Hotel for helping to make our visit a memorable one.

I've dropped the room down a star due to the view, basically it was a building site, did this effect our stay, no, so I've left it at 4, budapest is a beautiful place anyway so staring out a window is just a waste of time. The room itself was really nice, and would definitely recommended, the staff were friendly and helpful, the balcony bar food and drink was really good, the interior was really nice also. We will definitely be going back to stay there.

Beautiful hotel in Jewish quarter with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast abundant and rooms cleaned quickly. Unfortunately the room was way too hot to be comfortable, yet the swimming pool was too cold! If they sort the heating out to comfortable levels it would be perfect.

Stunning hotel with wonderful helpful staff, the rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The pool is small but still enough room for a swim, reception area is absolutely beautiful every time we walked through we found something new to look at. Public transport is just around the corner as are local bars and shops. I would highly recommend this hotel

We stayed for the weekend plus Monday it vas a very nice stay, I liked the overall feeling and design of this hotel. Rooms were pretty spacious and comfortable to stay in. Location was great especially if you want to visit Advent market and city center these days. I also liked the spa and pool option a lot. Only thing I didn't like is that It was never mentioned anything about Monday and Tuesday being clean up days which meant pool and spa couldn't be used. Also gym was unavailable at that time, too. But maybe this cleaning was once a month. I think it should be clearly stated before you plan your trip at the hotel.

A good hotel situated in the heart of Budapest. Everything is nearby at a 200-300m walking distance. Staff were really great and professional. Some part of the hotel were under renovation therefore getting into the lobby from parking was a bit of a hassle. Amazing breakfast selection. Would definitely recommend.

Location of this hotel is pretty good for all sights. Room I was given was pretty dark and had a musty smell in room. Also just the little things like laundry, bar, restaurant not available took away. On the plus side the pool, spa area was lovely. Great staff overall, but rooms need a bit of tlc.

Two rude young guys of the desk just ruined my vacation at this hotel. I arrived at 11 am and I had to wait until 9pm to get my room due to a misunderstanding. Once l got the room, l noticed it wasn’t ready, infact there wasn’t the water for free (my collegue’s room had it),it didn’t have the beauty kit and l found used cotton ear stick in the bathroom. I’ll never come back and l won’t suggest it to any of my friends.

I arrived after 1 flight delay. The receptionist was so friendly. The next day I left early. I came back late at night. I asked the receptionist another guy; the mattress is so uncomfortable, could they help me. He said: I should come back tomorrow morning. I never had any attitude like this elsewhere. If it is not possible to solve the issue, he should inform the morning shift or leave a note. I was out all day. I came for a few days in Budapest. I arrived back again at night. I asked about the tv. It does not install some news channels that I wanted to watch. He said: You would ask in the morning. The same guy again. It is enough experience not to revisit this hotel. I never met the same attitude in New York, Boston, London, Stockholm. Even the first receptionist was so kind and professional. People book to the hotel to get rest; I never had to go to the receptionist two times with the same issue. Unprofessional low attitude.

A pretty good Continental. The breakfast was well varied with something for everyone. The beds were soft and so were the towels and robes. The staff was super friendly and very helpful with anything to assist your stay at the hotel and in Budapest.

Great hotel overall, well-located, nice swimming pool, clean room and friendly staff. We were welcomed with a fruit plate in our room. However, there was an open bottle of wine in the minibar that we had to report to the frontdesk, and we were refused late check-out (we asked for 14:00) which was quite impactful for our plans.

Came here for a city break. First time to Budapest. First impression was tarnished as the man on the front desk was very rude and continued to be rude throughout our check in. I can not remember his name but I believe it began with an I. Front of house team need to be trained to realise that they are a guests first impression. Location is ideal and not on main road so no sound of traffic pollution. And a quick walk to all the local touristy places. Rooms nice and beds comfy. No complaints there. Spent a couple hours by the pool on the rooftop which was a nice touch. Paid extra for breakfast each day and was okay. Not too much choice but it worked. Staff there also seemed rude and felt as if we were being looked at/judged all the time. I would return to Budapest but not to hotel.

Tucked away on a drab street you’ll find this hidden gem. Then second you walk in you’re transported to a gorgeous Art Deco lobby with a wonder bar alcove just above. The rooms are neat and well maintained. The breakfast buffet had great options too. And the staff was friendly and greeting. Minor negative was the shower needed a redo and the halls could use a facelift but all in all a great stay in a great location.

We had a very relaxing stay at the Continental. The hotel was very nice with plenty of amenities. The breakfast was varied with lots of options. The location is great with bars and restaurants nearby and within walking distance to most of the tourist attractions. The staff were so helpful, especially the concierge Bence, who was extremely polite and helpful when we checked in. Will definitely be returning to this hotel on our next visit to Budapest.

Great hotel, fabulous rooms, good breakfast both hot and cold, nice spa on the roof with both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Nice quiet area on the roof to relax, good bar downstairs on the mezzanine floor. Good value for money. Only downside it's a little bit of a walk to the river but apart from that nothing bad to say about it. Well worth a look if you don't mind being that little bit out of the centre.

It's really lovely, the location is one of the best, a quiet street with lots of bars, restaurants and shopping centers around. Has a great breakfast and a restaurant in the evenings. Also includes an indoor pool on the roof with another outdoor one, two saunas as well. The only thing that bothered me is the outdated rooms and halls, other than that the hotel is definitely a great choice.

Whilst the staff are lovely and accommodate all needs, the room itself seemed quite dirty and had stains on walls even the bathroom did. It was also very dull and dark in the room. If this hotel rooms were cleaned it would be a lovely hotel. We loved our stay in Budapest but just wished the cleanliness was taken more seriously.

Hotel is really high quality and in a fantastic city centre location. The staff are very attentive and friendly too. The absolute best bit is the rooftop wellness centre which comprises an outdoor and indoor pool, x2 sauna and plenty of outside sunbathing space. There is also a gym We didn’t try the hotel restaurant or bar The room is ok, clean and has all the essentials We had a leak and the shower is quite small hence 4 and not 5 stars

The most gorgeous hotel close to everything, with the kindest friendliest staff I've ever come across. We even got a free upgrade to a junior suite, and it was incredible. Be sure to ask for a bath mat as even though the bathroom tiles are gorgeous, they are incredibly slippery — especially after getting out of the shower. One of us slipped on the tile and had to get stitches from a deep gash formed from the fall (not the hotel's fault) but just make sure to ask for a bathmat just in case!

We usually stay at the Hotel twice a year. This Time we had an upgrade that felt more like a downgrade. Room 338 really need attention. Sharing our Negative experience with the reception was like talking to an 1 year old child. The lady just didn't care much. Location is amazing everything is near and in walking distance. Breakfast choices are great.

Had a fantastic 3 night stay here. The rooms are modern, spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Buffet breakfast is amazing, with plenty of hot and cold options, everything is covered! Staff are attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The hotel is also well located for bars, cafes, public transport and for exploring everything the city has to offer. I would really recommend.

Comfortable room. Clean and quiet. Very nice interactions with the helpful and professional staff (reception, sauna, cleaning and breakfast hosts). Although the hotel offers a large breakfast selection, none of the breakfast food was of exceptional quality.
