    Extremely bad experience with this gym membership and scammy practices. Keep sending accumulated invoices while I did not sign for a specific period and stop using the facility. Even sending legislation threats. Make sure to understand every parts of the contract which is only in Hungarian before applying.

    I had the same problem as many other people. They couldn’t process my payments, then said that they unilaterally close the contract, and then 6 month later sent me a message about a debt for a year :) I haven’t used the gym for a year. Customer service wasn’t reaching out to me for the last half a year, and when we came to pay the debt, the manager was rude and wasn’t even trying to help or be nice to us. “It’s your fault, you should read the contract better”. Even if legally it’s my fault, you could care about your customers and not silently collect their debts. No normal international company that wants to keep their clients does that…

    It was great fun until it wasn't. The gym was lovely, very clean, and had amazing classes and magnificent instructors. However, as most of you mentioned I had an issue with the debt. I had not used the gym for 5 months and recently wanted to start going again. I then found out my contract was not paused/terminated. At the very beginning of the month, I informed them i would pay the 5 months debt. They made me pay 6 and barely answered my many emails requesting guidance. And no, i did not get any notifications of any debt and it had gotten to half a year! They do not respect or value their customers that's for sure! I had wanted to continue coming to the gym for another 2 years but now they made a quick buck and lost a good customer. Thanks!

    Do not sign any contract. They have no phone and office. Do not sign any contracts. You cannot reach them by phone. However, they send the notice by letter and threaten with enforcement. Also, black walls, little light. Zero natural light or windows. First there was a backlog of 70,000 (crowns) and later another 60,000 HUF. In the end, I paid a total of HUF 130,000, so I did not visit the hall. I finally paid, now I go to another room where there is no contract. Positive: the music is good and there are many good girls. Nevertheless, I give 1 star because of their business policy and attitude.

    Massive scam and rude staff. Do not sign a contract with them if you do not read everything - which is not even translated in English. If you don’t cancel in writing few weeks before a renewal they will keep billing you again and again. Threatening to sue if you post a bad review about their services. Pathetic. Nice gym, but horrible management and greedy practices.

    The place is nice with some good trainers, but the customer service is a nightmare. I canceled my membership in line with the contractual agreements, and they still want money from me. The customer service and the personnel on spot are not aligned at all, you receive contradicting information. I see from the reviews that others have made the same experience. JR, you really need to work on your customer retention and care policies, currently it's just a nightmare. I DO NOT recommend this place due to this.

    The gym is beautiful and nice, I used to liked it. I had one-year contract, but when you need something there is no customer service. I already sent many emails almost for one month sending every week and I haven't had any response about trying to cancel my plan after this 1 year ended and I don't want to renew. No one replied and at gym they said "please contact by email". Too bad, after check here, I see I am not the only one. I will not pay for an automatically renew that I have many weeks trying to cancel (advising super in advance) Ps: I never received a copy of my contract even asking for it 100x times! Uptaded: Besides the reply below, I never received an answer by email from gym side or my contract. They renew my contract not considering my wish informed many days before deadline to cancel... I am asking for information about it since APRIL.

    I think the new action is unfair. So far I have had no problems with the membership contract system. Those who previously signed a contract at a lower price are still cheaper than those who started coming here recently. It is understandable, rewarding loyalty is an established market habit. Now, however, they lured a lot of people here permanently for HUF 4,000 per month, and we continue to pay three times that for the same degraded service, and we cannot switch to HUF 4,000. In exchange for the good equipment, permanent opening hours and favorable price, the hall has been crowded, not only during peak hours. Now, however, this initially crowded attendance has multiplied. Those who are new can see that it is barely possible to move for HUF 4,000 per month, but at such a favorable price it is still worth it. On the other hand, those who came earlier made their decision based on the previous crowding, that it was worth HUF 12,000 per month. This was also signed a year in advance, and even after that with a three-month notice period, but no one said that there would soon be several times as many people, and they would pay a third of that amount. Just as no one could have known that in the meantime half of the lockers would be destroyed, and you might have to carry the bag during training. Contracted members do not receive the service they signed up for a year in advance. This is very incorrect. To those concerned, I recommend that you note the right of extraordinary termination in the contract, including the change of address... As I can see from the other feedback, the hall's answer to the increased crowding is that the gym is 0-24, you can come another time. Should we go late at night or at six in the morning for HUF 12,000 because the hall is full in the preferred time slot with people who pay HUF 4,000? This should be the other way around, the correct system also works in other halls, that the pass is cheaper for those who are willing or able to solve the less preferred time slot.     Customer service is awfull. You don’t get any notification about anything. If you have a problem you get an answer: “if you dont like it, go elsewhere!”. I had problem what i did not know, because i got 0 notification. The payment is not working properly. Thank you very much for the understanding from the gym leader. Even if you give feedback, they dont care. I know you work with machines, but we are people and should do better, expecially if you are the gym leader. Very disappointed

    The staff doesn’t speak English properly and is unable to explain you even the smallest details of their services. I clearly asked a subscription only for one month, and in the end I was given a monthly subscription without even knowing it. After 3 months I accidentally noticed in my spam folder a letter with an invoice. After texting a company they said they will cancel my subscription only after I pay my debt?? Excuse me, I didn’t even go use the gym all this time. Also I did not even ask for this service!! Thank you very much!

    I am massively surprised by the level of unprofessionalism. First of all when i signed the contract there the staff told me 3 times that the contract is for a limited time and later it ends if i don´t renew it by myself. So that was a big lie and as i read other comments here, i suspect that this is the way this company operates and earns money... with mnisinformation. So far i can sadly only warn every other person out there thinking about a John Reed Fitness Membership to stay away and dont sign anything.

    When the gym was closed by covid, they billed me 15x the price I agreed on at the first place. I just received a letter in spam that I have a pretty big debt. I tried to communicate with the team, but they were impolite and rude, and also did not care about the closing, nor the lack of communication, nor the previously written agreement - which was really fuzzy. I am deeply disappointed, because I was a paying, happy member of the gym for years. It was incorrect and unrespectful, I won't recommend this place from now on. Previously I brought here more than 10 paying members, and they did the same for some other people, too. I am very sad.

    John Reed I joined one one year, & I regretted this. They are short on giving you the exact details & specifics regarding the contract agreement you have. Like so many other members stated they chase you for more money after you terminate your membership stating you haven't paid everything to end your contract! This was done with threatening legal letters via their legal reps bombarding you via emails that they will take legal matters against you etc. This was noticed after my arrival back from being out of country for a month! The customer support is ZERO help just "sign here and you can cancel if necessary, no extra fees" as I was sure to cover this. However they got nasty email letters & boy oh boy what a scam these owners are!

    I didn't renew after one month membership and now after 8 months they want me to pay a debt of 112.000 HUF (I'm not living in Hungary since 8 months ago). They said that contract is renewed automatically. Be aware of this type of scams they do!

    You never get to see your contract, you only sign on an ipad and the receptionists misinform you regarding the payment. After a year I got an email about a significant amount of debt without any waring at all. I never received a bill before from them. In this email they also threatened with lawsuit. They wait till your bill is a significant amount and contact you only then. It is a ripoff.

    I came here with no expectations and was still disappointed... I decided to upgrade to the gold membership which is supposed to allow me to visit the other 'Cluster 1' John Reed and McFit gyms across Europe. Prior to signing the contract I asked about the fees and was told it will cost me 8k forints per month and I asked again whether the number will change after the first two months, and the trainer there told me that I will keep paying 8k forints ONLY for every single month and I shall get back to this later. Upon visiting the John Reed club in Dortmund I had been denied entry to the gym and was told I am not found on the system as well as in the McFit in both Dortmund and Bochum who also denied me entry stating that McFit gyms do NOT allow John Reed Gold members to enter. Therefore I had sent out 2 different emails and called on multiple occasions attempting to receive a copy of my contract so I can show it at the John Reed in Dortmund, every time I had called on the phone I was told to send an email and I did. However, I hadn't received a reply and I obviously couldn't go to the Budapest club to ask them for a copy and later had my sister go and bring a copy. Upon reading the contract I found out that my name, phone number, email, AND gender were all wrong and mixed up, not only that but upon closer inspection it was written that after the first month I would need to pay 16k forints per month which was completely the opposite of what I had been told by the trainers in the gym who have literally said "You will have to pay that [8000 forints] for 'every' month." Despite all of that I tried gaining access to the John reed club in Dortmund and was still denied access due to my absence in the system and on that day I FINALLY received a reply to my emails stating that my contract is attached to the email AND THERE WAS NO FILE ATTACHED!!!! I had since sent a letter of complaint per email which was naturally and still is unanswered which forces me to write this review. I cannot believe that now I will be told that I need to pay for the past 2 months having been unable to workout due to such poor customer support which is a joke rather than support. I DEMAND a compensation, feel free to reply telling it is my fault and that the T&C state some nonsense, because I was clearly deceived by your personnel who told me I WILL be able to work out in the dortmund gym and will only pay 8k forints so your T&C mean nothing against, this is fraud...

    This gym has the worst customer service I've ever seen. I asked them to renew my contract which they confirmed, after 3 months my card stopped working. I send them an email a week ago and still no response on how to proceed. No one answers the emails nor do they answer the phone calls. I went to the gym to ask for help but they said my contract expired, I already paid more than I should, so if it expired why they didn't return the money I paid for the next couple of months. I have been asked by their reception to contact the customer service which never answers. It's been more than a month now that I can't access the gym when I actually paid and can't access and their answer was like we have an issue with the system at night, I can't even access at day, people are the reception cannot help as they're telling me the contract has expired, and they stopped answering my emails.

    I can’t believe the owner decided to put RELIGIOUS statues in such a place!! That is very DISRESPECTFUL, and the majority of them are from Asian ethnicities. If being put from another way, can you imagine wearing exposing clothes, being all sweaty and working out in front of a statue of God???

    Not professional, not fair! When the gyms got closed in December 2020, due to COVID, I requested my account to be frozen, so the reoccurring payments will be suspended. They replied back that this is not possible and the period will be credited at the end. Afterwards I found a post on their Facebook page saying that this is possible and can be requested by email. I've sent it to them and asked again. They could do it only for one month and then I've kept asking for it to be extended for the entire period when the gym is closed. In June we've catched up and I had to pay 30.000 HUF (in relation to 5 months from 2021, a period in which the gym was closed). I had a 2 years contract with first 6 months free and I could only use 3 of those, as the pandemic came. In the end, I agreed to pay this amount, considering that I'll get this period credited. All seemed to be clarified, then I noticed the payments don't get deducted anymore and later on I received an email saying that my contract is terminated and I should pay ~65.000 HUF. The amount was double because I didn't pay for the gym in a period when gym was closed and when I've sent several emails for my account to be suspended!

    The place itself is really great and fairly big. The staff is okay, it's much better than in Gilda Max for instance where the staff is outright rude with you. The theme of the gym is a really interesting mix of different cultures (mostly Asian), with statues and pictures all over the place. The only problem is that usually it is really crowded so you have to wait for a machine to free up. Recommended to go in the evening hours, 9pm and up.

    I do not recommend this place anymore. The management does not cap the number of members, so it gets fully packed. You have to sign for one or two years and then you may end up not using the machines at all. The situation is somewhat better at noon or in the mornings. Other than this, the place is very well equipped. Machines are top quality. The music and the atmosphere is really great, however, maybe this is not what you are looking for in a gym.

    The gym istelf is nice, but the owners are trying to scam me, along with many others who wrote reviews here. They are threatening to sue me, if I dont pay 70.000 huf, after I specifically requested my contract to be cancelled, for a PERIOD WHEN THE GYM WAS CLOSED. Ridiculous, I hope they get what is coming to them.

    I had a very bad (racist!!!!!!) experience with one of staff members. There is a lady in the staff with a black hair i guess she is the oldest one there. When i go to the gym I try to be in a growth mindset but when this staff member was acting racist after this I could not focus on my training. John Reed become a very negative place to go. An international Gym like John Reed should know and never let racist employees work there! So that‘s why i canceled my membership there.

    Best JR I ever visited. Friendly staff, friendly members (working out and not occupying serveral facilities while chatting/resting/checking the internet, as they do in Berlin).They also give space in the locker room and no one insults you showering without underwear, as agressively experienced at B-Kottbusser Damm. The showers themself were working very well and were very clean, a thing you won't find in Berlin Kreuzberg nor Prenzlauer Berg. The girl at the reception spoke perfectly german without any accent. In Budapest!! Impressive!

    It's a cool place, but I'd say not ventilated well enough, the air was a bit heavy, another thing, they have a night club atmosphere with chandeliers hanging which makes it cozy but a bit too dark to my taste, i felt sleepy because of deemed lights.

    One of the best Gym in Budapest with the best quality/price ratio. A big two floor fully equipped for Fitness, TRX, Calisthenics, Body Building, Cardio, Spinning. Trainers are very kind and professional, a wide selection of training tools for free body and weight lifting excercises. Free parking inside and a very clean and comfortable change room with RFID card based access and lockers.

    We usually go around 12 pm and it is not crowded. The gym is clean, machines and weights are well-kept and the locker room is nice. Much better than the US major chain gyms like LA Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness.

    I love this place. The decoration is wondrous, the stuff is kind and young. The gym has a lot of machines, in a HUGE plot, it's like 2500 Square meters which is good. There is 4-5 sections of the gym. I forgot my access card (2nd time in 4 months) they could only let me in only after paying 3000 huf as a daily access membership.although my membership is still valid and the card was not lost! What a ripoff And yes it is true that i signed the contract that comes in hungarian language and when i asked the receptionist to translate it for me she didnt mention this and God knows what else . So for all new joiners, be careful and for the management congratulations on losing another customer :)

    Look for another room, avoid them from afar. They hide behind their cleverly thought-out contract, if you forget to cancel your contract (which you can only do via email), then your debt to them will accumulate, even though they have the right to terminate your contract after 2 months, they won't... just collect that debt. After the first month, I didn't receive a single email from them (even that one landed in my spam folder). After 7 months, I somehow found out that I was owed a payment, also in my spam folder. All their emails are flagged by gmail as not authenticated and may contain dangerous content (which makes people avoid them even more). The hall itself is crowded, especially in the afternoon.
