Nemzeti Múzeum/National Museum of Hungarian History. First visit to this wonderful museum. The building itself like many in Budapest is reason enough to visit. Stunning frescoes and architectural details that have been beautifully and carefully maintained. We spent about 5 hours here which was not long enough as we all enjoyed going through most of the sections in great detail. From the Hungarian Stone Age right up until the Stalinist era and the downfall of Communism.  The museum has interesting and well displayed artifacts with many detailed explanations. One thing I've noticed in many Hungarian museums is a lack of explanations of materials used in various items. For instance what type of wood, leather, gut, feathers etc were used in the construction of a hunting bow? Or what type of material was the mannequins peasant dress made from? Cotton, Wool, Hemp etc? I really enjoyed my visit here and will probably come again next time I'm in Budapest.

Super nice garden with a lot of green, a lot of chairs, people reading, having lunch, meeting friends, etc. there’s also a park for kids and a nice cafe, as well as some artistic pieces there to admire. I’d definitely visit a lot of times if I’d live here!

It is a very meaningfull place in the Hungarian history. The building is very nice and renovated. The garden is also nice and good to have a walk or some minute of rest in it.

I've always liked this garden/park! It has undergone renovation/upgrading in the years and now it's at its best. There are sculptures, benches, a cafe, a playing area and well maintained grass, trees and bushes. It is also a lovely spot for events and markets.

My favorite place in Budapest. You can enjoy a nice summer afternoon here, reading, writing or if you're with friends, picnicking. Just remember to keep the voice down it's a very lovely and quiet public place.

Nice little green area surrounding the national museum. Has some grass to lounge, benches to rest. And tons of statues. Worth a look with the museum in combination

Great location, however there are always less and less trees and plants whenever we visit. The beautiful old park has been largely replaced by stone and gravel by now. We do not understand why this is necessary.

Very beautiful and good playground for kids. Cafe with beautiful deserts and good coffee

The new natural scene is quite peaceful and calming. The benches are new and comfortable. There should be more rubbish bins though. More flowers over the green area could be planted. Overall, the park is worth visiting and sitting in.

Very nice calm, clean park 🌳 to enjoy time. Open until 9 p.m. there's children place on other side. Enough benches to sit. I are having yoga session here with my girls ☺️

Very nice garden and playground for children and it is for free

Well kept, but to be honest I don't understand why this is listed as a tourist attraction since it's good for about five minutes and many of the pictures here are of different places than the actual garden

The Museum is beautiful and filled with Hungarian history. There's a lot to see and read! If you want to truly get to know the country's history and see everything properly the visit might take around 5h! A must visit for any history lovers.

Very pretty place especially in Autumn, you can stroll here while having a nice view of the trees and the garden. Would really recommend to visit.

It's a good museum. It's has a room for collection from Ferenc liszt too

  • 5/5 Ákos K. 2 years ago on Google
One of the few parks with a magnificent lawn in the inner districts, great for a nap! It's also surprisingly quiet for its location, and is surrounded by some of the first mansions of the Palotanegyed, so the view ain't boring either. If you're lucky you might overhear a practice session from the building of the Hungarian Radio, too.

Cool garden! Filled with cool statues. The building of the museum is stunning though they cover it with ads which kind of ruins the vibe, so you can sit down and enjoy it as well.

It is a some sort of an overview of the culture but I would say it’s quite boring and it’s not well-understandable on where to go. We almost left 2 times but we didn’t believe that there is no more so we headed back to search for more exhibits. Also the staff was rather rude - the type of old and grumpy. Due to the poor guides on how to move around we entered a exhibit from the “end” and the lady rudely directed us out by pointing with fingers and saying something in Hungarian.

Experience from the museum was just meh. Not memorable at all, lack of English captions in many places. Only a few exhibitions were worth seeing and interesting but at least it's cheap

Lovely small local park. Green and shady. Lots of places to sit and rest. A small playground for kids in the corner. The only disadvantage is the noise from the traffic - really kills the mood. Oh yes, rats also.

Perfect place to relax or study. You can find benches here to have a nice time or it is also pleasant to sit in the grass.

What a lovely garden. It's located around the city center near many other interesting restaurants and it's pretty large actually. Literally spent a few hours just sitting and wandering around the garden cause I had just checked out from my hotel and had to wait so many hours for my flight. Most of the area is covered in large trees resulting in a nice, easy, breezy atmosphere. Oh, and also the garden is located not too far from Kelvin Ter where you can hop on the bus to the airport. :)

Pretty little garden surrounding the National Museum. There are some benches as you walk around, a little play area for children, and some statues with historical information outside. There is also museum related information outside the steps to the museum on posters etc., if there's an exhibition going on and they want to provide more information. For example, when I went start of November, there were some samples of the World Press Photos outside, with some information.

The museum was lovely to visit. It was much different than other museums I'd been too and I was able to learn a lot about the area and its history. I was surprised at how much security there was but given the quality of the museum I guess they need it. Would recommend a visit

Szépen rendben és tisztán tartják a múzeumkertet. A múzeum jobb oldalánál van egy játszótér kicsiknek. A kertet kedvelik a madarak, gyakori a feketerigó. Csendes, nyugodt hely, ideális könnyed sétára, beszélgetésekhez.

The recently restored park around the museum is a place where you should take a minute to lay down and to refresh under the shade of the trees. Highly reccommended place! Sorry, I can't share anything about museum, have to visit it once again soon.
