I understand that the management of the current brewery contacted the members of the Dreher family living abroad to see if they might be planning to return, but the family said that they thank you, but do not ask for more from Hungary. If there was capacity, the building could even serve as a beer museum as the last stop of the tunnel system tour. Of course with the possibility of tasting...

Since 2008, the stripped-down building can be visited free of charge by the Köbánya municipality once a year, together with the Köbánya cellar system, as we did. I really liked the kitchen, you could feel the hustle and bustle here once. There was even a food elevator. Miraculously, the boiler remained in place, although it must not be working either. I'm always saddened to see such valuables destroyed, although the tour guide told me that the roof has been renovated and at least it doesn't get wet. Well at least... It's a great thing that the Kőbány cellar system and the Dreher villa are opened to the public once a year. It was an interesting time travel...

It is in a worse and worse state. We are too rich to let such a value go to waste. "The Havas villa (or Dreher villa) is a now abandoned villa in bad condition in the Xth district of Budapest, Kőbánya, behind the Tchaikovsky park, which was once the garden of the villa. The villa was built by József Havas, a lawyer and Pest city councilor, when starting in 1834 he bought several vineyards in the area. It was probably built in 1856 and most likely designed by Károly Hild (József Hild's younger brother) in a classicist style. The building permit itself is dated March 31, 1856. The reason for the birth of the building was simple: Havas opened Hungary's first cognac factory on the adjacent lot that same year. Not long after, in 1859, he sold both; the buyer, Jakab Perlmutter, had already tried beer production. Antal Dreher then bought it from him in 1862, together with his brewery, in order to establish his famous brewery here.

Beautiful villa. The X. district asset manager is trying to renovate it. There is a lot of work left to do. Kene is a good investor. Wedding. Event venue. Guesthouse. It would be suitable for everything

We were able to see the Dreher villa under the guidance of local preservationists, which was both impressive and disheartening. To this day, the intact parts of the building, the kitchen, the stoves, the upstairs wardrobe, the roof and the attic... But the general condition of the building is desperate. Both the factory and the family's past deserve much more, whether the state support of the corporate giant or the grateful posterity could help to create a place worthy of the memory of the building, the family and the factory.

Great to see the Dreher legacy. At the same time, he is sad about his condition. The maintainer tries to at least preserve the condition. The Kőbánya cellar can be visited during a tour (last weekend in June). Definitely recommended - free.

We could see it as the last stop of the Kőbánya cellar tour. It is positive that traces of its preservation are visible, it would be good if buildings with such a history were not left to be lost.

The classical villa is beautiful and a pearl of the neighborhood. However, it is sadly kind of falling apart ;( only on rare occasions I've read it's possible to enter anyway. Whereas normally you can just about see it from the outside (although a tall wall has been placed in front of the building), from the public park which was once its own private garden. You have to climb at the back of the park, through the growing vegetation.

Unfortunately, it is doomed to destruction, although it would be worthwhile to give it some cultural function.
