At first I thought it was going into the castle, but after 5 minutes and what felt like 300 cars it dawned on me: OMG!!! This is not an entrance, just a passage. Through or On?!? What the hell. Nice entrance and the tunnel was built correctly so far. Open at the front and back, so everything is right here.

Tunnel that allows the passage of cars under the Buda castle hill, at the chain bridge.

There was a large tunnel under the hill of Buda Castle, so I walked through it because I was curious, but cars were passing by at high speed and there was a lot of dust;;; I don't recommend it. After passing the tunnel, you will come out on the other side of the hill, but since there are no tourist attractions, I don't think tourists will have to go there.

When you drive into the city, after crossing it you come directly to one of the city's landmarks, the Chain Bridge. The tunnel itself is a nice photo opportunity

One of the best night shots I made in Budapest. Bring your tripod because there is plenty of room to set up. Very low traffic spot when shooting from above the tunnel.

BUDA CASTLE TUNNEL The Buda Castle Tunnel spans 350 meters, linking the Buda bridgehead of the Szechenyi Chain Bridge with the Krisztinavaros neighborhood west of Castle Hill. Its construction, guided by Adam Clark's plans, commenced in 1853, and it was accessible for traffic by 1857. Until 1918, a toll was required for passage. The eastern gate boasts an eclectic classicizing design, while the western gate, destroyed during the war, was reconstructed in 1949. Toward Clark Adam Square, the tunnel's end houses the service apartment for the Chain Bridge's bridge master. A sidewalk aligns with the tunnel's south side, yet pedestrian use is discouraged due to vehicular noise and air pollution, as indicated by a posted sign. In 2013, the tunnel gate's roof was renovated, and a new barrier was installed to enhance safety and prevent accidents. We crossed the tunnel by taxi and then took the Chain Bridge during our evening return to our hotel across the way.

This is the entrance/exit for the tunnel. You can have a great view of the Chain bridge if you walk to the top of this entrance. I wouldn’t recommend walking through the tunnel because it’s very long and it’s unpleasant to breathe the air due to the cars that go through here. A nice place to visit, you can get to Buda castle quickly from here.
