We were excited after we heard so much about this place before vacationing to Buffalo. As someone who loves chicken wings, it's the first thing we did leaving the airport. And the results were, just satisfactory. We ordered the hot wings and while the sauce was great, tangy creamy and mouth watering, the chicken itself was just fine. Not sure if we expected too much. The chicken skin wasn't crispy and the meat wasn't as juicy and flavorful as we hoped. We also ordered the club sandwich which was good, but just standard sandwich fare. Additionally, the service staff was friendly and helpful. Also to note there are no refills on soda, so that was a bit of a surprise when the bill arrived, but it WAS listed on the menu so that was on us. Would return if we were here longer just to give the place another chance.

The food here was good! Our steak was just a little bit on the overdone side, but that was quickly compensated for through phenomenal conversation by our server who was amazing. The appetizers were also very good strongly recommend taking a look at the French Onion Soup. Cocktails and drinks are decently balanced. Maybe a few I wouldn’t necessarily re-order, but all in all happy. The space itself never would’ve guessed how much I would appreciate it. What they were able to do with the space makes it a very interesting experience, different than most other restaurants that you’ll go to. Pretty solid option for a date night. Would consider going again.

Being from the Midwest we have tried many versions and were looking forward to having buffalo wings in Buffalo at a traditional place. Reading reviews and stopped in specifically for the buffalo wings. They didn't disappoint in food and service. The bar restaurant is wonderfully eclectic. Service was quick and attentive. We ordered 10 medium and 10 hot. Very traditional and the hot could be a couple scoville higher for my liking. The wings had a nice crisp skin and hot tender bite. Well done!

The food was phenomenal! Definitely healthy portion sizes so be careful of over ordering like we did. Visiting from California and we wanted true authentic Buffalo wings and these did not disappoint. Also ordered the poutine being a short jump from Canada and their famous BBQ ribs. Only complaint is not having a stomach as big as my eyes. This was a local recommendation from our friends in Buffalo and we were very impressed.

Stopped in Buffalo in a road-trip. We googled the best wings and Gabriel’s was consistently on the top. 10/10 the best wings I’ve ever had! I got the medium Buffalo sauce which was spicy, but amazing flavor. The wings were crispy, but with enough meat on them. So good! Great service. Highly recommend!

The server was nice and courteous but the food was suuuuper slow. Our table of 4 ordered 2 doubles of wings. It took nearly 40 minutes for our order to arrive. And it wasn't really that busy either. Not very good beer options either. Great buffalo hot wings. The actual wings are pretty big and juicy but the BBQ Cajun wings were really bad. There was entirely too much BBQ sauce on them and they were just a wet mess with no hint of Cajun. Finally, I would have to say that this place is pretty pricey for what you get. No french fries or side dishes included with wing orders and only a couple tiny pieces of celery. Somehow our bill came out to almost $200 CAD and 2 of us were only drinking water.

Such a gem of a place. The staff was super friendly and the wings were amazing. We ordered a place of 20 plus the onion rings plus the potato skins. In a city without much to do, this is a great option to eat, drink, and enjoy good company. Be ready for a well deserved food coma :)

I spent the weekend in Buffalo and was recommended this place by some friends for their Buffalo wings. It didn’t disappoint. I wish they were a bit crispier but otherwise they were excellent. I’m sure there are plenty of debates about who has the best Buffalo wings in Buffalo, but this place has to be near the top of the list.

Very nice restaurant & bar. Bartender was very pleasant. The wings were no joke (it’s clear why they have so many awards). Highly recommend this place.

We enjoyed a very nice lunch at Gabriel's gate. They were very busy but quickly status at a nice table in the rear of the restaurant. It was kind of loud up by the bar area because there was a hockey game going but we could hear ourselves well in the back of the restaurant. Our server quickly took our order for drinks and then followed up with our food orders. Food came quickly and was prepared very well. We had an excellent Reuben and a delicious tomato parmesan soup. The kids had chicken strips and the french fries as well as the chicken wings were cooked to perfection. The wings were sauced properly and we're of good size. All in all a good experience.

The main attraction - authentic Buffalo wings IN Buffalo - were good. I get very similar wings closer to home, though, so I won't come back just for those. The location itself was filthy as there was old dirt and thick dust all over. My silverware was dirty as well. The service was a bit slow, and the host wasn't at all friendly or helpful (we were seated without being asked about our preferences). In addition to wings, I ordered poutine, and while the cheese curds were plentiful, the gravy tasted like it was straight out of a jar. Overall, this restaurant is good for what it is - a neighborhood dive bar - but it's not great.

Locals in Buffalo said that this was the best place in the city for wings, and boy were they right! This place is where it’s at! The wings were so meaty and crispy! There was a solid selections of beers! Plenty of seating! The price was fair! The staff was friendly. My only gripe was that it was a little bit on the filthy side. It was an older place and maybe could use a bit of a freshen up. Other than that, The place itself is a really cool scene. Looks almost like you are in an old ship. They also have outside seating out back. If I am ever up in back up in Buffalo, I know where I am going for my wings!!

Update: After trying Anchor’s wings today, Gabriel’s rating increased to a 4 for their wet wings. 📣📢 Was excited to stop here because we saw in many reviews that this place tops the Anchor Bar’s wings. Well here’s our review… We ordered nachos, Wet Buffalo and Cajun dry rub wings. Nachos good. Decent size wing dings. Wet wings were good. The Cajun dry rub was intense too much dust seasoning took away from the taste of the chicken. Waitress nice but she was very busy all over the restaurant and was slow to replenish drinks. This was crucial with the dry rub wings sitting on your lips and in your mouth too long without being able to wash them down fast.🔥🥵bleu cheese was not enough. Needs more than 2. Was ok. We stopped and we can now check them off of our list. Note: The street the restaurant is under construction and is closed. You can walk on it but cannot drive.

Not a lot of seating, but a very cool historic atmosphere. We tried the buffalo and BBQ wings and they are among the best we have had anywhere. The French onion soup was also delicious. The poutine was average but the onion rings were good.

The first food stop in Buffalo had to be Buffalo Wings. Parking wasn’t bad, found a spot in the residence area. Seated right away, our server was extremely nice. We split the 10 piece Buffalo Wings and got an Oktoberfest Beer. The wings were really good. The server also got us extra ranch which was so worth it. Overall great food, good service and great first stop!

What a great little place, a real authentic American bar/restaurant! The wings were 1st class (we had the Cajun & BBQ) and would definitely recommend either. Service was slow but it was very busy and they had a fisty lady working behind the bar who was great but a little scary at times 😅 but if you're on your feet all day it can only be expected... I'll definitely go back!

Our 2023 family summer vacation wrapped up in Niagara Falls last week, and the drive home sent us through Buffalo, NY namesake of one of my favorite foods, the buffalo wing. There was no chance I was driving through Buffalo without stopping for wings, and although they were invented at the Anchor Bar, it gets pretty rough reviews these days. So after a bit of research, I decided we should try out Gabriel’s Gate. The building that houses Gabriel’s Gate dates back to 1864 and the atmosphere is anything but modern. My table had a strong lean to it, enough that I wasn’t sure my wings were going to stay on the table. Luckily they did. The food here is more than wings, with burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and steaks. I ordered a Cottage Street, their version of beef on weck. If you don’t already know, beef on weck is another Buffalo specialty food, a roast beef sandwich served on a bun topped with salt and caraway seeds called a kummelweck roll. It comes with chips, but I upgraded to onion rings. I particularly liked the salty bun especially with some horseradish on the beef. And the onion rings were a good call, nice and thick with good batter. But we didn’t come for roast beef, we came for chicken and that’s what matters most. So what’s the verdict? Well, these are really great wings. They are the perfect size. They are both crispy and meaty. And the sauce, we ordered “hot”, was spicy but with great flavor. Still I was hoping for something magical, a bite that would make me think, “Now I know what a buffalo wing should be!” That didn’t happen. So it’s not that these aren’t great wings, it’s just that there are great wings outside of Buffalo too, ones that I don’t have to drive eight hours to eat. My son, who wouldn’t eat a buffalo wing if you offered him a million dollars, got grilled cheese and french fries. They make a damn near perfect grilled cheese at Gabriel’s Gate, and I do encourage you to get your kid to order one, assuming they won’t eat buffalo wings either. Here’s why: you can steal some from them and rub it around in the left over wing sauce and have some of the best grilled cheese you could ever hope to enjoy. And that was my final bite at Gabriel’s Gate.

We found the place through the bonappetit buffalo wings guide. They really serve very tasty chicken wings, mostly juicy and sauced just to the right amount. The French onion soup is also good, even if it's a little bit too thin and too salty for my taste, the cheese is broiled to perfection. The potato crusts are tasty, filled to the brim with cheese and served with sourcream. They could use a little bit more salt.

What a great local find just a walks away from the downtown core. Gabriel's is known for the pub fare among them being their wings!! The ambiance is cozy and dim with lots of fun decor. Our server and overall service was excellent. For food we had their, of course, wings!!! A delicious shareable to start our experience accompanied with a pint of craft beer. As for mains I had their Lexington burger with potato chips.

Love the vibe and environment of this establishment. They don't have a cocktail list but do have a full bar. We took our server's advice on the soup of the day, and I also got wings and a roast beef sandwich. Food came out quickly and was very good. All the staff we interacted with was very nice and helpful.

Wings are by far the best I've had at a restaurant. The skin was like crack, the meat was juicy, and the Buffalo sauce had a nice vinegar kick. The French onion soup was amazing too! The only issues we had is with a little bit of slow service. I didn't understand how a restaurant around as long as this was having issues seating people right away, problems with the kitchen, and some angry patrons who were seated and not being served. Goodwill and history will only take you so far.

Highly recommend this place. We ordered the 20 piece buffalo wings and Poutine, and both were fantastic. Wings were good, and they were the perfect amount of crispy. I will say that the individual wings did vary in size more than expected. The poutine was also great, and the gravy was savory. Atmosphere was pretty cool-more of a casual bar sort of vibe. I enjoyed myself, and I would be happy to come back next time I'm in Buffalo!

Ordered 2lbs of wings, they were very juicy and crispy! The buffalo sauce had a strong vinegary scent, loved it! I think the dip was blue cheese, normally I never eat blue cheese, but this paired so well with the wings! The wings didn’t take too long to come out either. I would definitely come back again.

Looking for the BEST chicken wings in Buffalo?? Look no further! After scouring the internet in search for the best chicken wings in Buffalo, I was led to Gabriel’s Gate. This was by far the best wings I have ever tasted. Perfect sauce, perfect tenderness, and perfect crisp. Does not get better than this! At my waiters recommendation, I got the medium Cajun wings. This was a great choice for me as it was the perfect balance between spice and flavour. Finally, I can say I have had Buffalo Wings in Buffalo!

Leading with the positive: the wings were delectable and a good size :) my partner gets French Onion soup everywhere he goes, and he thought their French Onion was delicious! What brought the experience down: we were seated in a booth that, as we approached, we could see had flies flying around it. One or two flies? It happens, especially on a beautiful day like today, so we sat down and that's when we realized it was at least 7 flies just lingering around the side of the booth my partner was seated, the half of the booth behind him, and it smelled a pinch like pee :/ We asked to be moved (only mentioning the flies, not the pee); the staff was accommodating but seemed genuinely perplexed why we didn't want to be seated some place swarming with flies. Once at a different table, everything was cool (only one fly) until we were almost through the wings when my partner had to swat away two flies simultaneously trying to get into his blue cheese side. Summary: we would definitely return, but during the winter, when flies won't be there.

Love the atmosphere, love the patrons, love the staff, love the food. Everything about this place was awesome, and if I lived here I’d be a regular. The wings were among the best I’ve had, the staff was friendly and helpful, there were a few locals who were definitely regulars. You could tell by their interactions with the bartender and wait staff. Back to the wings, the sauce was perfect. Crispy, but not to the point of tasting burnt. Meat was juicy and tender. If I get a chance to go back, I’ll have something else on the menu.

Missed this place last time through Buffalo when hitting the best wing spots in the city where it all began. In the area so made a point to hit it up. This ancient structure in a neighborhood setting didn't disappoint. Love the weird, cryptic theme of this place with a blue collar town bar feel. The wings were top notch fried to a crunch, the medium buffalo was perfect with a nice level heat to get your attention but not to overwhelm. But wait, I think I have found the best French onion soup in the country. Go for the crock not the cup, you don't want regrets here. This thing came out with a blanket of provolone melted down the side of the crock with a spinkle of seasoned parmeson baked in the roof of this thing. Once you get through the cheese you will find a rich hearty broth that will warm your heart, keep dredging that spoon around and you will find onion pieces throughout and bite size bread nuggets lurking on the bottom. As a cheese lover I never thought I would say I've had enough cheese, but today I threw the towel at an empty bowl with a smile on my face. Love this place. A must try....

Stopped here before a Sabres game after hearing great things about the wings. The wings definitely didn’t disappoint. Would definitely recommend to wings lovers. The poutine was also huge and very good. Inside feels like you’re in the house of a local hangout spot.

Buffalo wings are just OK, not the best that I had. Philly Cheesesteak sandwich needs a little more mozzarella cheese. Fish and chips batter is thin but not as crunchy as I had tried in other restaurants.

So good! I got the chicken fingers (medium) and my husband got the traditional Buffalo wings (hot). Both were so good! The wing sauce was great and the chicken fingers were crispy and delicious. The fries were also super good - highly recommended all around.
