Jungle Restaurant has a wonderful spot in Buket Lauang. Nestled on the river, the restaurant has a charming outdoor seating area where you can enjoy views of the water. The food is flavourful, and delicious and the juices and tea are great. Free reliable WiFi is a major plus for getting work done while enjoying the sights and sounds of the river. The staff is also incredibly friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to coming back next time I'm in town. Highly recommend

Located at the end of the village, seem run down first time you entered the place. Paid the “honeymoon suite” and honestly, my own expectations raised when heard the name and paid over 1 juta for it. It was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever been on. Although the room is big, but it wasn’t well organized; electric plugs everywhere including in the shower, and there’s a kettle but no coffee and tea provided. Staffs, however extremely nice and friendly. Foods are nice and the jungle tea is superb. We did the trekking to the jungle which was excellent. Coming back? It was a trip of life time, once done and dusted.

We didn't stay in the guesthouse but we went to the restaurant a couple of times. The location is great! It's at the end of the street overlooking the river and the jungle from the restaurant. The staff speaks fluent English and very friendly. They recommended us some local specialities and we loved them! Also the breakfast bowl is delicious. The vibe is good with some amazing painting on the wall. There's also lots of games to play! We'll be back again!

It’s such a beautiful place at the end of the village. It’s next to the river and the jungle is all around. We had such a cool room. Two floors with 2 king size bed 2 bathrooms, balcony what’s facing to a waterfall. The whole room was built on the hill so we had a big rock inside the room on the first floor. There is no AC but the weather cools down at night bc of the climate of the mountain and the waterfall what comes from the mountains. You can even take a shower there. The hotel stuffs are so nice friendly and helpful. If you wanna take jungle tour or do any activity you can just ask them they can help you with everything and give all the information you need. Their restaurant has local food and also pizza, sandwiches, eggs. You can pay with card! My brother and me stayed room 2! It was an amazing experience! Thank you!

A home away from home. Early from the booking through WhatsApp, they have been very helpful. They were also quick to response when we need direction to reach Bukit Lawang. As soon as we stepped in our room, we quickly fell in love with how peaceful the location is. We had the river view room with balcony that faces the forest of the national park across the river. It has beautiful outdoor bathroom and although the facilities are quite basic, everything is pretty clean and organized for a jungle standard. We spent hours sitting at the balcony and soaking in the tranquility. We spent only two short nights and always dined at their restaurant. Everything we had were on point! Prices are very reasonable and even cheap, considering the super generous servings! They were all esthetically presented, clear evidence that the team has good knowledge about hospitality business. The owner and the staffs work together like a family and made our stay pleasantly memorable! Jungle trekking and rafting were also arranged by their team and we loved everything about it. Anton, the tour guide, is very knowledgeable and passionate. We loved the adventurous route he chose that day and we were lucky enough to spot 6 orangutans and countless other monkeys and apes. In short, it's an unforgettable trip and Bukit Lawang will always equal to Jungle Inn in our ❤️.

(Translated by Google) The best Jungle Inn in Bukit Lawang. For those who want to feel the sensation of sleeping in nature but still comfortable, this is the place ... Here you need to struggle, at least 20-30 minutes walk, but if you don't want to get tired just take a motorcycle taxi, at least 10 minutes already arrived. The vehicle can be left in the parking lot available at the entrance. Just pay the staff, yesterday I paid 30 thousand, there was a donation to the mosque too, you know ... After riding a motorcycle taxi with a small path, we will arrive at the Jungle Inn and the owner is very friendly, Alde. While relaxing at the restaurant while waiting for check-in, you can have a cup of coffee or drink first and feel the beautiful river side atmosphere ... The room I chose was the honeymoon suite, which is at the top and the view is the best !! The room is really spacious for a soccer team, but it only has 2 people hehe ... But it's not wrong to choose, the room is spacious, the view is great, the atmosphere is really good you know. Next to the same forest and natural waterfall that makes the experience unforgettable ... The food variants here are also varied, just ask directly to the employees. Eat here while enjoying the river view, hmmmmm .... Also here provides rafting (ban) and jungle trekking activities, just make sure to go to the inn ... Oh my, my advice to prospective visitors, you should bring a mosquito or insect repellent lotion, emergency lights and umbrellas huh, hehehehe .... The employees and the owner are very friendly, and certainly make me feel at home here. Hopefully later you can stay here again Jungle Inn, the best !! (Original) Terbaik lah Jungle Inn di Bukit Lawang. Buat yang mau merasakan sensasi tidur di alam tapi tetap nyaman, ya disinilah tempatnya... Kesini perlu perjuangan, minimal ya 20-30 menit jalan kaki, tapi kalo ga mau cape ya naik ojek aja, paling 10 menit aja udah sampe. Semoga nanti bisa balik lagi nginep disini Jungle Inn, the best!!

Absolutely phenomenal stay. Beautiful rooms (highly recommend the room with waterfall view). Had a snake nearby our room and they intervened immediately by sending security even though it was late at night and very heavy rain, with the head of security kindly asking us if he can kill the snake or not, because he wasn't sure if it is poisonous. Felt very welcome, safe and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and fun to hang out with. They also have very good food- best you will get in the Bukit Lawang, especially because they give it out promptly (and in other places sometimes you have to wait 1-2h). Highly recommend my Sumatra Salad with Tempeh. We chose to stay two nights at Orangutan Bungalow because they were Jungle Inn was fully booked and it was an absolute mistake and a traumatising experience for us-- see my other review for more details. Wished we spend our entire trip to Bukit Lawang there. Thank you my Bonobo friends and see you again! ;)

Costly rooms. Some do not have hot water. Some staff was very friendly. We used the laundry service and some items got lost. The situation was handled very unprofessional. Would not return. They do have good vegan food options and location is gorgeous. They treat their staff poorly. Be prepared for the jungle camp. Toilet is unhygienic, have a sleeping bag along as you only get mattress to sleep on. Bring towels! Food at camp was the best we ate in Indonesia!

A little hidden gem in the middle of the jungle! It was magical from the first moment we arrived. Amazing jungle hikes with competent guides that brought us to see numerous orangutans in their natural habitat. Simple but clean and comfortable rooms to rest in. Food was top notch. Thoughtful details and wonderful service by the manager and staff full of great vibes. Only wish we could stay here longer!

Loved this spot! They prepare their food with a lot of love too. My travel partner eats meat and I do not. We got the same dish, Soto, but his with chicken and mine with extra veggies and tofu. It was very clear that our dishes were made separately and carefully (no cross contamination) because we each had the same set of spices (cinnamon stick, lemon grass, ginger slice, etc...) and our soupy broths were slight different colors. It felt safe and hygienic! The only bummer was a local guy kept bothering us and trying to get us to book a tour with him. Eventually we asked him to leave so that we could eat in peace. He was well-intended but it was very frustrating.

We stayed at Jungle inn and did an overnight jungle trek (2 days/1 night). It was absolutely wonderful!! We saw orangutans, monkeys, birds, and more. Loved camping by the river overnight and the food. Most importantly, the staff was amazing and very friendly. Taught us about the animals, area and language. Terima kasih banyak Aldi, Roy, Agu, Ipul and many others! Definitely recommend

Terrible pain by bed bugs. i had stayed two nights here. Actually My outside arms were sucked by mosquitos on one day jungle trekking. Then next morning my inside arms' tender skins got a lot of red spots. I thought it's by mosquitos. But on afternoon the spots became blisters and had too much itching. So I met pharmacist in Medan. She said it's by insect such like bed bugs. I am seriously considering about giving up my rest trip schedule in next country. It's terrible.

    - Costly Room with an inadequate facility. not a single bit of complimentary. need to bring your own toiletries, and also small kettle for you who like to make a hot tea or hot coffee. because if not, you need to pay for hot water. no tissue (but i guess its for go green things) + hotel is actually have an amazing view. the staff is also helpful and really friendly. but the manager totally ridiculous and very unprofessional.

  • 5/5 Susi C. 8 months ago on Google
The best hotel to discover the jungle! The staff are awesome, from the manager to the guides who do their best to find orangutans and tell you about their habitat and customs. Our guides were Ridho and Rosit and they were great!! They took care of everything, gave us food and drink and showed us around. After a long morning walk learning about orangutans, ants, turtles and a lot more, we went down the river with a kind of inflatable doughnut singing a song they've made up! It was very funny. A fantastic experience. "See the monkeys, see the birds, see the orangutans, hey!"

Not much here. Staff is amazing really nothing to say and really helpful but I think we got the bad room (number 5). Had a terrible night there, and couldn’t sleep at all, the heat I guess. I don’t know but the room was not really “crazy” for the price we paid. We would have completely preferred the room next to the river. They look way better than the number 5.

Could only recommend this place. Exceeded all expectations. Good food, food mood and good rooms! They help arranging airport pickup if needed, a jungle tour is custom made and if you ask for anything they arrange it. We extended our stay twice because we didn’t want to leave. Hope to come here again.

  • 5/5 Roy M. 1 year ago on Google
‘Come as a friend, leave as family’ they say and this couldn’t be more true. Jungle Inn felt as a home to us and the staff as our family, we extended our stay twice. The staff is humble, hardworking, friendly, funny and delivers quality. Terima kasi!

The best food we’ve had in Indonesia so far ! Full of flavour and beautifully presented. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly and all in a beautiful peaceful jungle setting right on the river ! Highly recommend the jungle tea, asam menas, vegetable gulai, chicken rendang! Delicious

Loved this funky place, though not for everyone. It's a 20 minute walk to get there after parking, and prepare for many stairs to the rooms which are not air conditioned and offer no hot water. But if none of that is a deal breaker, the privacy after that long walk is great and sleeping to the sounds of a cascading waterfall is terrific. Everything is very clean and the staff is professional and friendly. The food is fabulous!

I love this hotel. It is small, yet it offer you everything more than I expected. Joyful and peaceful atmosphere in and around the hotel. The river, the balineese touch, the unique room, very friendly staffs, and the best canoing experience in the river that we never forget. Yet it is not suitable if you bring children under 3 years old, since there is not much spacious room or field for them to play and run. But for traveler who love nature, it is one of heaven on earth.

I recently stayed here for two nights doing the one day jungle trek. I dont know where to begin. The hospitality is the best I have ever experienced... they make you feel like family. The food is some of the best I had while travelling in Indonesia. The room was nice, with beautiful views needless to say. The local people are incredibly nice and welcoming. The trek itself is fantastic, we had the opportunity to get up close and personal with several Orangutans. Special mention to our superb tour guides - Didi and Havis (I hope I spelled their names correct). They look after their guests extremely well and they do everything they can to make it an experience of a lifetime. The only negative is that we didn't stay longer!!

I had THE best time in Jungle inn. Big, beautiful and clean room, with a balcony and view of the river and jungle edge. There was a hammock on the balcony too, very nice place to chill. The food and drinks in the restaurant were great, I would reccomendations getting the special fruit salad of you like fruit, it was very beautifuly presented. And the the jungle yeah, wow, very refreshing and looks beautiful. I also had the jungle salad and curry, both very tasty and good for vegetarians. The dining area was very nice and relaxed, a good atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming and able to do any request. Alde was especially helpful and made my stay there extra special. ? On one evening a local band came to do a bit of jamming and you were able to request songs and they got everyone involved, they are great entertainment. The jungle trekking was also very fun and educational, I had a great guide who went out of his way to make the trek special for me, I saw two male orangutans, amazing!! You also get fruit and lunch on the trek and a really fun lazy river rapid back to the resort. I did really need a massage after treking and was able to have one ready for when I got back. I reccomendations getting a massage, you'll need it and it feels amazing. I can't wait to come back next year and stay longer. ? Thank you all so much!

(Translated by Google) Quiet hotel at the end of the long row of hotels and restaurants that run along the river that crosses Bukit Lawang. If you have large suitcases, take a 70,000 IDR porter. We took the duplex room which overlooks the waterfall, very pretty and original. Special mention for the shower which is a basin which spills into the bathroom (too classy), but water at room temperature. Very attentive staff. Only downside, the restaurant rate a bit high, we preferred to go to the Wild river cafe. Mention speciale pour la douche qui est une vasque qui se déverse dans la salle de bains ( trop classe), mais eau a température ambiante. Personnel aux petits soins. Seul bemol, le tarif du restau un peu élevé, nous avons préféré aller au Wild river café.

(Translated by Google) In general Great hotel right on the river, welcoming staff and delicious food! The rooms are neat and clean, however one must expect that the standard in this part of Indonesia has its limitations. Only minus in our room was the limited view of the jungle and no river view as otherwise expected. Location Great location on the outskirts of Bukit Lawang right on the river (where you can bathe). The macaques walk past the hotel every day and sometimes jump around on the hotel's roofs. From the hotel, a path continues along the river with small waterfalls and good bathing opportunities. Staff The staff is extremely welcoming, talkative and helpful! We had many good conversations with the staff and occasionally they entertained with song and music. Food The food is exceptional and always served in delicious and inviting ways. Good opportunity to try local specialties. God mulighed for at prøve lokale specialiteter.

One of the best hotels and and experiences I have ever had. I’m not kidding, this place is incredible. You are in the middle of the jungle, in an extremely clean and tidy hotel. The rooms are great, architecture and design is beautiful, and the staff is super attentive. This is truly an eco-forward hotel where everything is super inclusive of the surrounding nature and environment. Don’t even get me started on the food. If you like Indonesian Sumatran cuisine (which I do) this might be the best place on the whole island for it. The chef has trained all over the world but decided to come back to his hometown in Bukit Lawang, so he can cook virtually any dish you want, but the Indonesian cuisine is the best. All — I mean EVERYTHING — is fresh from the area and beautifully presented. I would come here just for the food again. The guides can take you on treks into the jungle and it is amazing, but my stay at Jungle Inn was what made this place the most special. If you want to escape the city or get some quiet, this is the place to go. I visited from the US and didn’t know what to expect, but WOW, I will be coming back.

I just loved my stay at Jungle Inn! It started with the welcoming drink which felt amazing at the end a long travelling day. The staff was so nice to me and attentive to any needs I may have, it made me feel so comfortable staying there! Alde help me organizing my activities during my stay but also provided me with useful insight about the region, which was so helpful in organizing the rest of my stay in Sumatra. The food is delicious and I enjoyed taking the cooking class with Bronte! The room may not the most recent one but I had everything I needed. I had the impression to live in the jungle with the open air bathroom and the panoramic view on the jungle, the river and a waterfall straight from my bed! Thank you all for the good and relaxing time I spent with you!

If you want to experience Bukit Lawang and the Sumatra jungle, you MUST stay at the Jungle Inn. The staff are kind and put you in holiday mode straight away. They provide a pickup from the airport in Medan. You can do a cooking class, have a massage and visit other local attractions. There is heaps to do from this spot. We turned up with nothing planned and they arranged us a 3 day trek to in the jungle. Highly recommend. Our guides, Ebo and Anen were so friendly and knowledgeable. You will be well looked after at this place. Book for at least 4 or 5 days. You are in safe hands ✋️
