This place is so beautiful, from the restaurant to the view, it is so beautiful! The food was very delicious and the drinks were spot on. I came here to celebrate my birthday and it was very memorable. I will definitely come again. However, what can improve is the customer service. Our waiter was taking long to take our orders and we had to constantly be looking out for him to call him over for service. Other than that, I highly recommend their mimosas, their brunch menu is delicious, and the environment is great.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Castaway in Burbank, and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere captivated us with its elegant and inviting ambiance. The breathtaking views added an extra layer of enchantment to the evening. Our culinary adventure began with the assistance of our waiter, Jordan F, who played a pivotal role in making our dining experience memorable. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the menu were evident as he guided us through the selection process, providing detailed insights into each dish. Jordan's recommendations, backed by his personal favorites and an insightful showcase of the restaurant's unique style, made our decision-making effortless and enjoyable. Each dish showcased the dedication to quality ingredients and culinary expertise. From appetizers to dessert, the flavors were expertly crafted, leaving our taste buds delighted and satisfied. What truly set our evening apart was the impeccable service provided by Jordan. His attentiveness, genuine interest, and friendly demeanor added a personal touch to the overall dining experience. It's rare to find a waiter who not only excels in service but also enhances the enjoyment of the meal. In summary, our dinner at Castaway was a flawless journey from start to finish. The harmonious blend of exquisite food, captivating atmosphere, and Jordan's exceptional service made it an evening to remember. I highly recommend Castaway to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience.

We came to Castaway for our 4 year anniversary, which I’d noted in our reservation. They treated us with care — gave us one of the best patio tables with an incredible, panoramic view and a free carrot cake dessert. The food was out of this world and the service was well-paced (fast but not rushed). Also, our server Jesus was incredibly attentive — thanks for everything, hope you win the competition!

This restaurant is located on a hilltop near a golf course. The views are pretty nice and and the decor is pretty lush. I loved the little fish pond in the front entrance. The food here was just okay but the desserts were really good. The event spaces here are quite nice and great for hosting parties or conferences. There’s valet parking for $7 as well.

Cozy spot. With a wonderful view. Been here for a bridal party, company happy hour, dinner, lunch. It's a gem if you've never been. The drinks are great and the food is delicious. You may have to wait a little bit when they are busy so grab the server when you see them and give your order right away if you can. If you have no clock that binds you then soak up the view. Great place to impress your guests. The view is breath taking especially for out of towners or first timers.

My food was delicious! I ordered the lobster and shrimp with risotto. I got scared when I saw the shrimp; however they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Make sure you have a reservation before you arrive. If not, you can sit at the bar, first come, first serve, and you can order food there. With the reservation, you can sit on the patio that overlooks the hills and the city, or inside the restaurant dining area. They had three special events going on. A wedding reception, a 55th birthday party, and another event. Kudos to the restaurant staff because I did not see either of these parties. I watched people go to their respective destinations, but it did not interfere with the restaurant's normal flow of business. I was a Special Events Manager at the House of Blues. So I couldn’t help but pay attention.

One of the best brunches I have ever experienced. Beautiful views. Wonderful service from our waitress (Robin I believe). The kitchen was able to accommodate a vegetarian Benny made with their AMAZING wild mushrooms and avocado. Eggs were cooked absolutely perfectly and the potatoes... Ugh so dang good. All the drinks were delightful but the lavender charcoal mimosa was *chef's kiss* Will 1000% be back everytime we're on the west coast

Amazing cocktails and fantastic seafood tower and oysters. Our server made it so special by paying extra attention and being so friendly. We had an amazing time. My friend ordered the steak and never had such a out of this world culinary experience, and he’s French! Loved all of it!

We celebrated my mom's birthday here and she really ended up loving the place! The views are unmatched for the Los Angeles area, especially on a bright clear day. We are seated outdoors, near the edge so we got a pretty nice mountain and city skyline view. I was pretty blown away and impressed by the bottomless mimosas more so than the food. I cannot rave about how good the flavors of mimosa were. Well, specifically the lavender black charcoal activated mimosa. It was a new combination of flavors for my taste buds, and frankly, it is a must try. We ended up sharing everything for five of us and it was just enough food. The petite seafood tower had a great variety of very fresh selection of raw seafood. I almost wished I ordered the large tower, just because I wanted more seafood. The brioche toast was a pretty solid, but not enough for me to want to get it again. Caviar frites were a hit for the table, with the caviar not being overly salty. The fried chicken waffles was great! The chicken was definitely not dry or overcooked. Short rib benedict was a solid okay as well, the short ribs were actually the dries part of the meal. I would definitely come back for the mimosas.

My pictures don't do this beautiful place justice! The sunset and view of the city from the top of the mountain is majestic. We all had steak and all 6 of us said it was just melt in your delicious. The sides were all good they come in little pots and were totally sharable. My drink was called sugar lips and it was delicious and had baby's breath with a tiny little paperclip holding it on the coupe shaped glass. This place also had a 55 class reunion and and wedding going on. The parking was valet and they were very fast. We will definitely be back on our next visit here.

10/10. This place is literally breath-taking. From the food, to the views, to the ambience, to the service, to the desserts and drinks, every moment was memorable. The lobby has a super cute photo op of the Castaway that was lush greenery and the lobby itself was a tropical paradise. When you go through the restaurant they also have an amazing view of LA, and is a gorgeous place for sunset. It's good for a romantic date or a special occasion Food/Drink: I ordered the Belle drink which came with its own magical mist and rose petals which were really magical. The aged steak was fantastic as were the sides of garlic fries and Mac and cheese One of the most stand out things here were the dessert. They had probably the best key lime pie I've ever had. We also ordered their special dessert sampler which came out in an amazing array with fireworks and everything. Highly recommend dessert over anything else here. Valet parking only

This is a great restaurant for special occasions of any type. They have a beautiful view of the sunsets over the valley. Unfortunately they cannot garuantee any requests for a table with a view, so you may end up sitting inside. The food was very satisfactory. I personally enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and the braised beef. Steak was cooked medium rare as I requested and the dry age ribeye dis not disappoint. Service was very busy during the dinner hours, but people were helpful with any questions or requests we had.

We had an amazing time here for Thanksgiving Brunch. It was our first Thanksgiving across the country from family so we wanted to do something special. We were pleasantly surprised with the large portions. Steak cooked perfectly and seafood was fresh. Cocktails were also great - plus free champagne while we waited! And of course, the view was beautiful. Can't wait to go back!

Nick P. Our waiter, provided us with the one of the best service my Husband and I can ever think of since coming to Castaways. He made our evening date night an even more enjoyable one because of his great service. He was so courteous, kindhearted, knowledgeable, high spirited and overall great personality. 10 star service. Service is very important in maintaining those qualities of a great restaurant along with great food and atmosphere. I ordered the snapper and my husband ordered the steak and mashed potatoes with lobster. My husband couldn’t stop raving about his food and I was so impressed of how great the snapper was! It was perfection and the cilantro lime sauce was out of this world too! I cannot say enough good things about this place and their service with Nick P. We appreciate the service very much! We had not been to Castaways since 07/08 for reasons we didn’t like the food/ service and decided to give it a go again and I’m so glad we did. We will definitely be back because of Nick P.’s excellent service, the food is amazing and the atmosphere!!

Tatiana was so personable and lovely! The food was great - I do think that the NY steak could have better presentation but other than that it was delicious! It was a bit hot outside oddly but most folks seemed comfortable. I like that there are lots of kids options too! I added the lobster and mashed potato truffle side with the steak which was amazing but feel like it would be nice if the steak came with a side of some kind.

Jana was absolutely the best at making us feel welcomed. This was my wife and I's first time at this restaurant and Jana made the experience so pleasant we will definitely be coming back. Her knowledge of the menu and recommendations were on point and her timing on our meal was just right. We typically don’t have dessert but we were so please with the experience that we just had to indulge in the molten chocolate cake. It was delicious!

Castaway restaurant is peaceful and has a beautiful view! The food options were great, everything was delicious and the waiters were friendly. We tried the half chicken with carrots and creamed corn, the calamari, lobster mashed potatoes and cheeseburger and fries for our kid. We enjoyed the complimentary corn bread and also tried a coffee lava cake for dessert. Clean restrooms available, high chairs available, valet parking available.

So I’ve been going to this place ever since I was maybe 21 years old my father used to take me there. This restaurant is one of the most beautiful ones in L.A !! It is located on like a mountain and the view at night time is just breathtaking! You see all of L.A lights at night and the vibe is so peaceful and beautiful. Few years back they have changed the place design cause when I was younger back in the days they had these round fire places but now it’s even more beautifully designed! Everything is well designed from the entrance to the inside res area to the other balcony’s dining! I personally make reservations only for the balcony area and for the evening. The food menu everything is cooked by an amazing chef team when you will taste it you will understand what I’m talking about! The cocktails are fabulous! This is a place you can also book for events like birthdays , wedding dinners , baby showers and more! If you are visiting L.A you definitely don’t want to miss out on this place but make sure you book a reservation in advance They I’ve got a big parking lot and also valet parking Enjoy, o you will so much !!! I promise that :).

Haven't been back to Castaway in over 20 years. We had visitors from Michigan, so we decided to take them here for dinner. First impression for me: boy, has this place changed! The decor and ambiance have changed with the times. The place is trendier, more modern and a lot busier. Reserving through Open Table was seamless. The service was great. You do have to use their valet service to park for $9. Our waitress was amazing and very prompt. She also made excellent recommendations. We skipped dessert as our party was too full, but the dessert tower others were ordering looked decadent. It is truly a show stopper. We spent a pretty penny for the dining experience, but it was worth it. The wonderful view of the city lights was still as breathtaking as ever!

Miss being able to look out on the back patio at the wonderful view! 😪 They rebuilt it with tables but if you eat inside you can't really see out. No more buffet either. Loved the service manager Braxton. Food was good. A bit too expensive and have to pay for parking $9. But all and all we had a nice meal and enjoyed the music.

We just recently went to celebrate 🎊 our anniversary and had the best experiences ever. Started with an amazing dinner and our waitress Chelsy was amazing. She made us feel so special from the start… Chelsy, was so friendly, polite and thoughtful during our time there.. She took the time to show us the new spaces from our last visit and showed us the ballroom, where we got married 23 years ago.. she then show us around the newer amenities spaces and invites us to, the new speak easy the Green Room!! We meet the bartender Daniel and he was very nice and polite! He made us feel good and served amazing drinks … Based on our experience we will be back:.. I would recommend this A+++ service!!!

I have been coming here for years. even though it's a seafood place I enjoy my steak every single time. we have tasted the salmon the whole fish with rice and my family loves it as well you cannot beat a better location especially on a clear night where is very romantic and great for drinks. the staff is always accommodating and the location is well suited for large parties weddings and just a night out.

Was introduced to this spot by a friend, had to head back again. Outdoor seating is always in demand but with current Covid-related laws only outdoor seating is allowed so reserve way in advance if you can. Walk-ins are welcome but there might be a wait time involved. Seating limited to 90 minutes for table of two but service is prompt and food was fantastic. The views are brilliant and make the experience even better. Highly recommend.

We made reservations. This place has an amazing view. Outdoor sitting with a view of Los Angeles from the hills. We went in the evening. It was chilly since its January and winter in LA. There is seating by the fire pts but it's limited to only two people. Out waiter was amazing. Vibe is nice. Not a bright. Lots of booths. Food presentation was amazing. Food was really good.

Castaway is not just a restaurant, its an experience. Atmosphere, scenic views, amazing waitstaff, and food to die for are what makes up this wonderful restaurant. The place is great for dates, family outings, and lifetime memories. Marc was our waiter and only added to the wonderful experience. Although I'm more than positive all of the waitstaff are great, I am looking forward to having Marc again. Marc not only was attentive to our needs, but even helped us buy a dessert for a young couple at the table next to us. Looking forward to be back!

The food was amazing! Nicholas P. Was our waiter and was phenomenal! He gave great customer service, he made us feel so welcomed! We were celebrating my wife birthday and this is the perfect place! The view here is a must see, it has one of the best views of the whole city! Hands down one of the best restaurants I been too! The valet is $9, and be prepared to spend a lil money but it’s worth it! When you get there Ask for Nicholas P. To be your waiter he will take care of you!! Make sure to do a reservation because it does her busy!

This rating could easily have been a 5. I visited Castaway for an anniversary dinner. Castaway has amazing views of the valley, which added to its appeal. The entrance is very nicely landscaped with beautiful flowers and ponds. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a very nice receptionist who welcomed me and wished us a happy anniversary. Nice touch. She first asked me to wait for my reservation time, then kindly directed me to my table when it was ready. The ambiance was casual but maintains an upscale vibe. The restaurant had a great bar where you could enjoy a variety of beverages. The bartenders were skilled and created some tasty craft cocktails. It's definitely a good spot to unwind and have a drink with friends. The food was delicious. The menu offered a variety of dishes, and each one I tried had good flavor. We ordered the calamari appetizer, and for our main dishes the miso-marinated Butterfish and the Zinfandel braised short rib. The ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was “OK”, but it didn't have that "wow" factor. It was placed poorly on a plate, and it was good. Meh. I supposed for the price you pay, you semi-expect a little more effort. Nonetheless, if you're looking for tasty food, this place won't disappoint. Unfortunately, the service was pretty standard. Our waiter, Alexis, did his job adequately, but there was nothing remarkable about it. He took our order, brought the food in a timely manner, and refilled our drinks when needed. Standard. I suppose I expected a bit more attentiveness and friendliness. Another reviewer stated that, because of their server’s attentiveness they decided to order desert. In our case, we weren’t offered desert nor was I made to feel like we should stay longer and enjoy more time, be it desert or another glass of wine. I even made the comment, “I would’ve stayed longer, but I wasn’t even offered another glass of wine.” We also had a “skunk incident” where a pair of skunks managed to make their way under the terrace’s wire fence and onto the property where patrons were eating. This happened three times. On the last occasion that made me stand up, I made a comment to the table next to us that there was a skunk behind my seat. The server overheard and remarked, “Oh, he’s back.” Okay (?) The valet service was efficient and prompt. The attendants were polite and took good care of my vehicle, making the parking experience hassle-free. All in all, while the restaurant offered delicious food and had beautiful views of the San Fernando Valley, it fell short in terms of exceptional service. The staff provided service that was a bit inconsistent, varying from great to standard, which didn't leave a lasting impression. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a place with great food, a nice bar, phenomenal views and convenient valet service, this restaurant is worth a visit.

Came here for the first time on my birthday and had the most pleasant time. It was a couple weeks ago so I unfortunately don't remember his name but our server was amazing. We had a window seat and from the looks of it, I think it was better than a seat on the open balcony. We were more elevated so our view of the city was super clear. The food exceeded my expectations. I've been to a good amount of "fancy" restaurants but this one actually was worth the price. Their calamari was great as well, and their steak was cooked to perfection. I had a great experience and would love to come back again.

I’ve been here a couple times for different occasions and they never disappoint. I’ve tried many different drinks and different foods since I’ve came for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner times. They have also switched the menu a bit since I first came here over 5 years ago. Please come and try the brunch I’m sure it’s a good start and you won’t be disappointed.

Stayed for about 3.5hrs there surprisingly. We thought the service was slow but our server Miguel (great guy!) said they intentionally slowed down since it wasn’t a busy night (we went Thursday night). Recommend the steak flight (“Steak Progressive”) that can serve 2 or more. Food was still good when reheated after 1-2days. Bathrooms needed more attention - they ran out of toilet paper + paper towels; and their hand dryer wasn’t working.

I had an amazing experience at the Castaway in Burbank! For the quality of food, ambiance, and most importantly service you receive it is well worth it. Preston, our server, made our anniversary celebration exceptional with his high quality service and attention to detail. In combination with his well versed knowledge of the menu, his attitude and personality is a prime example of exceptional service and top quality hospitality.

I was there on Sunday and the service was good but I didn't feel they were taking precautions against covid-19. The take I was given, it was durty like they didn't wipe anything down after a guests left. I saw a couple leave and no one wipe the table down. Also, people were loud and it was an environment i would want to go to again. I order the burger and it was burn and the buns were over toasted, the only good thing was the frys. I would not recomend it to friends or any one else, specially if you want to be safe with whats going on right now.

Ok-ish, but definitely overpriced for an open terrace with a VERY limited menu during Covid-19. They don't even offer coffee or hot tea there! Not tasty. Overloaded with nachos. Too many carbs. Almost no vegetarian options. Disappointed.

Just a magical, awesome place with some of the best food in the city. From the ambiance and the decor to the view, you almost want to move in! Our waiter Dylan was so wonderful and generous -- a true reflection of an extraordinary restaurant. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would.

  • 4/5 Almara T. 3 years ago on Google
The reason that this place deserves a 4 star is the view and the reason why it doesn't deserve a 5 star is the menu! They have revised the menu 7 times so far but NO SUCCESS You pay for average food way more than its reasonable price only because you get the view!

Today was the first time having Easter in quarantine. We decided to get curbside from castaway. The meal was reheated at home on a rainy evening and proved a great success! My family was not disappointed with the tasty rack of lamb and mashed potatoes. Comfort food par excellence!

Wonderful wonderful place! Even though seating is limited and of course, we are in pandemic times, this restaurant does an amazing job accommodating all of their guests and serving them in a timely manner. While waiting to be seated, youre allowed to look around. I spend some time looking at their wine room and their butcher station and i enjoyed the view from everywhere outside in the dining areas. There have large lounge group set ups and small personal set ups as well. I came here with my friend to catch up with good food while enjoying the food. We started off with brussel sprouts and calamari - our favorite. We also shared a new york strip - delicious! The black spice one they had on the side with the steak just took the flavor up a notch - i wish i remembered what it was called! We sat down around the outermost areas by wire fence and rock fireplace. Did i say the view was amazing? While the sun was setting the light got a little in our faces. Our server, (ah i wish i remembered his name) was so nice he repositioned the umbrella to cover us. If it got too cold, they also had heaters on stand by. They have happy hours between 4-6 and offer discounts on most drinks and appetizers. Reservation is recommended. My friend and I wanted to meet earlier in the day, so we could pick and choose where to sit. It starts to get a little busy a little after 6 and a line, even with reservation starts to from outside. Would I come back? definitely; and with more friends!

We had a reservation for a group of eleven here for a late dinner and were seated right away on the patio. The view was spectacular and worth it! Granted it does get cooler at night especially at this time of year but the patio did have propane heaters on and so it was ok. The food was excellent and I recommend the steak...I had the crab cake which was awesome and the Zabuton which could not have been cooked more perfectly. Everyone in our large group was happy with the food.

Highly recommend making a reservation to get the best experience here. Really enhanced our visit. From the moment we walked up from the parking lot, there were attendants outside asking us to kindly check in. They found us in their system, sat us down for a few minutes and then the manager himself escorted us to our table with a great attitude !! Very welcoming !! The outdoor dining is extravagant with beautiful views of the rolling hills of Burbank. You can even see the towers of downtown LA poking in the distance. I had the chicken and waffles. Very filling. Didn’t care for the roasted honey sriracha glaze so I asked for regular honey instead. Wow. The chicken is crispy outside but so very tender inside. Took off the crispy side and enjoyed the tender chicken with the delicious thick waffle. We also had the Crabcake Benedict. The potatoes are crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Taste very good. The crabcake Benedict itself was just ok.

The views are absolutely incredible no doubt about it. They make you feel very comfortable in this new state of the world we are in. Very clean and following CDC guidelines which is always amazing to see. My brunch selection of the Shrimp and Waffles, was good but I wasn't in love with the waffles that would be my only real criticism. But as you can see this place is a must if you are in the Los Angeles/Burbank area.

Really good food. Very nice place. We couldn't be seated where we wanted to but we had a nice experience. Will be coming back for sure.

This restaurant is a must! While the initial hostess was condescending, pompous and rude, every interaction thereafter was authentic and nice. The steak melted in my mouth and was the most incredible culinary experience this far!

Hmmm, what to say. All the 'charm' has been eliminated from the last remodel. No tropical vibe whatsoever. Currently, only the patio is available for seating. It still has a lovely view of the valleys below. Right now, there is free self parking. We went for happy hour & Earl dinner. Need a reservation. Warning #1, if you order happy hour drinks & appetizers, ask for your check before the computer erases happy hour and moves to the dinner menu ( several items are on both menus, happy hour 1/2 the price, well drinks $5, other beverages equally reasonable). Everything we ordered was from the happy hour menu, during happy hour. We left after happy hour had timed out but our check was all full price. A $5 well drink became a $13 well drink. That was just the beginning. The crab cake went from $9 to $18...the staff claimed they had no way to adjust any of the charges, so we had to pay the full amount and leave our credit card info, phones & names for the "bookkeeper" to get back to us the next day. My friend & I had split the bill, we never heard from anyone, but she checked her card balance & there had been a small credit applied, about 1/3 of what would have been correct. I haven't received any credit as of yet. Neither of us was contacted by phone, my friend called the restaurant.andvrequested a call back, but hasn't been contacted yet, 5 days later... We shouldn't have paid the bill but didn't feel like we had any option and didn't want drama. My advice is that you pay careful attention to your check and the time if you are interested in happy hour. My advice to the restaurant is to kill happy hour or train your associates more thoroughly.

We came here for the view and we were seated at a patio with no view. I put on the reservations that it was my birthday and they acknowledged the party with an anniversary but not my birthday. What an EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING BIRTHDAY. Do not go here for the view. You will be seated on the no- view patio. The food is mediocre as well.

It's my first time here and I had a good experience. They followed all the necessary precaution during this pandemic and I felt safe. The service was good and the food was delicious!

It was our first time in LA. My friend recommended castaway. I brought my girlfriend out here to break the routine. The General Manager Derrick brought us in and seated us pretty quickly even though it seemed very busy. The view was amazing - brunch was great. This place is the reason I would come back here from the east coast. My girl loved it and I recommend to any one that wants a beautiful place to relax while enjoying top notch food and drinks. What more could you ask for!!

My boyfriend surprised me with a trip to LA and we stopped by this amazing place recommended by a friend. The general manager Derrick received us even when the place was over booked. It’s an awesome place to eat, enjoy the view and relax.

Food was amazing! See the pictures of everything I scarfed down. I think my favorite were the scallops. They were so soft. And the dessert was pink mousse, how cute! Super light and yummy. I ate every bite of everything. Nick P was my server and was awesome and provided great service. I had a blast on a solo Valentine’s Day date here. This was a very meaningful event for me (I won’t bore the reviewers with the sappy details, but iykyk) and coming here it was made very special for me. I was a bundle of nerves and high emotion and anxiety coming in and I couldn’t ask for a better time. Also, a very special thank you to Tanya. I had to try so hard not to break into tears when you gave me your rose along with such kind words. What you didn’t know: I didn’t know if Castaway was one of those restaurants that give guests a rose on Valentine’s Day, but I went to a place years ago that did that as a part of the event and I remembered it and thought, “I wonder if Castaway does that, probably not, but I wish it did so I had something special to remember tonight by besides pictures and can hang a rose to dry to keep and preserve.” So, having someone give me one they just happened to be carrying around meant so much to me. I’ll be preserving it like I’ve preserved several roses through the years from meaningful life events. Your kindness went a long way! Thank you!

The food was delicious with amazing presentation. Everything we had was so tasty. The desert was spectacular. Our serve Marc was very friendly, professional, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the menu items, with great recommendations. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the view was great. We sat on the patio aread and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. My family and i had a reservation and were sat promptly and service was timely. Overall our experience was exellent and we were very appreciative of Marc's service as it complimented the visit and made our experience very enjoyable.
