On a rainy weekday, I had the chance of visiting the museum with my little son, who was particularly excited about the Lego exhibit. While the overall experience was enjoyable, I feel compelled to share both the positives and areas that could benefit from attention. The Lego museum itself created a small but charming environment, capturing the imagination with its intricate displays and creative showcases. The attention to detail in the Lego exhibits was commendable, providing an engaging and educational experience for both children and adults. However, one drawback was the adjacent playground. Despite its potential for enjoyment, the area fell short due to noticeable issues. The playground had an unpleasant odor, and its cleanliness left much to be desired. This aspect detracted from an otherwise positive visit, especially for families with young children who are drawn to such spaces. In conclusion, the Lego museum offered a delightful experience overall. The creative displays and engaging atmosphere were highlights, but addressing the cleanliness concerns in the playground would undoubtedly enhance the overall visit for families. I hope this feedback proves helpful for the ongoing improvement of your museum.

FREE!! Really?? Yesssss.. I thought I heard wrong when someone told me to visit this museum. I thought only kids play area free but eventually free everywhere. Really liked this museum, clean and organized. The staffs were so friendly and really good customer service, warm welcome from them. Not too big so perfect for us because no need wagon.. hehehe.. the girls just walked around by themselves because so many interesting to see that you can see from my pics. I'm not a good explanation person and not a good writer so I love to express by pictures :-D Do if you never visit the museum, you must give them a chance. We will for sure go back again and again because the girls had so much there. Thank you for everything.

We love city museums, and this one was really well done. Lovely building, admission by donation, nice permanent displays. We went mainly for the Broken Promises exhibit about Japanese internment during WWII - very well done, it's a very moving exhibit.

I brought my 3.5 yo daughter for the second time together with my 14 months old. Our 1st hour was spent with a playdate in their play area. The rest was to see the gallery and scavenger hunt and went upstairs to see the rest. Very friendly staff. The building is very clean and well maintained. There are picnic tables outside where we eat our snacks while enjoying the surroundings. On our way back to the parking lot, we stopped to check out the old Anniedale school, Town hall, and Anderson cabin. We definitely enjoyed our visit! Thank you for having us!

Love the Indian Army exhibit. Its history many are not not aware of and should be a permanent exhibit to HONOR them . THANK YOU to all who served and sacrificed for our freedoms

Great free kids play area, including a slide. Really appreciated a great free indoor activity for kids and how well they followed Covid protocols and kept it so clean. But overall as a museum it was quite small with not a lot of historical facts or variety of info. Worth going if you have small kids but not much else…..might be a different story when they can offer more without Covid restrictions

We went to the Cedar, Sage & Sweet Grass Event being held in the Surrey Museum for the weekend. It was enjoyable and we were able to talk to the exhibitors and particularily liked the chat with canoe maker Pat Callahou who is 5th generation Metis. We tried some Cinnamon bannock that The Bannock Queen Bakery served up and found out they sell from their Facebook. A fun experience.

We visited the museum on the weekend. It was not busy nor crowded which was really nice. We could spend as much time or as little as we wanted to at each exhibit. It was interesting to learn about the history or Surrey. They currently also have an exhibit about dragons and mystical creatures. The kids love the TD Explore Zone the best. It's like an indoor playground with a focus on sustainability so kids can learn and play at the same time. There was a birthday party during our visit. We didn't know the museum hosts parties. Parents can consider hosting a party here!

Have had a blast here with friends and family on the occasion of Lego exhibition. We went here early but packed with cars try to get into the museum for a piece of scavenger hunter. We discovered so many fields of Lego from sea to sky, many story telling from Lego kids learnt it at school and saw it here. We love it and would come back :)

It is great we have spots for adult’s and kid’s entertainment which is free of charge. We love it. Kids can visit Lego room, play room with a slide, colouring station. Second floor is mostly for adults. During December they have craft stations where kids can make craft on their own and take it home. Hot chocolate is also offered. Awesome place.

I have lived in Surrey my entire life, and never knew this museum existed! Granted this wouldn't be my usual "cup of tea"....In saying that I'm glad I found this place on Google and we stopped in (looking for something inexpensive to do on a rainy afternoon). So many neat exhibits! We came two hours before closing and the time flew by! I recommend taking a bit more time to go thru the exhibit's. We learned so much about the history of Surrey! I highly recommend you come here, especially if your local.

I love the Museum of Surrey! It is such a welcoming community space and a fun and informative place to visit with scavenger hunts for kids of all ages and ever-changing temporary exhibits. The dinosaur exhibit was a favourite temporary exhibit -- it was only here for awhile and is gone now. The MoS is a must visit if you are in the area!

It’s a nice place for kids to visit. Especially love the little play area section that’s great for indoor play in the colder months. Every few months they keep changing the theme of display, which is cool.

It is a great FREE place if you need to spend half an hour with kids on a rainy day, but it is tiny and if you don't live nearby it doesn't worth driving there! We came there five minutes before it opened and there was a crowd near the doors already. After twenty minutes, it was filled with people and we left. We came there because my 5 y.o. loves dinosaurs, but there are only four of them (if I remember it correctly) and it took my boys about 5 minutes to run around the exposition two or three times. The play area was more interesting, like an indoor playground.

Never been to a cleaner, friendlier museum in my life! There is a TD Bank sponsored eco learning and playing area. We came on a Sunday and there were many artists displaying their art for sale. It was very vibrant. The Lego display was absolutely amazing. Kudos to the friendly museum staff. Even the washroom was so clean. Everything is very well maintained. Good job!!

We came on the weekend for the Lego exhibit. It was quite busy but manageable. The Lego exhibit was much more impressive than I expected. If you grew up playing with Legos in the 80s/90s it will bring back a lot of great memories. Definitely worth a visit, especially since admission is free.

Great place to find historical artifacts and war armaments used by the "ARP" around the time of 1914 - WWl It also has a significant amount of information about Indigenous people and how much the city of Surrey respects them.

Really good small museum. Their current special exhibit on bees is really quite fascinating. We spent about an hour in just that exhibit (and I'm rather afraid of bees). The Indigenous Hall exhibit gives an excellent overview of the treatment of First Nations peoples in Canada and BC. There was also a small, but very interesting, display on the Indo-Fijian community. All of the above was in addition to the museum's regular collection of local historical items. And my only complaint is regarding those displays -- many things are not labeled. For example, I saw what I believe was a milk separator. I didn't see any label for it and only knew (guessed) what it was because I saw one on my uncle's farm about 50 years ago.

We were just passing by the museum and see the big dinosaur in front of it that attracts me and my 2 year old to visit. The newly built dinosaur exhibition is so cool with light and sound moving dinosaurs. Also we visited the museum inside the round building that has abundant antiques things such as antique cards, fire truck, tools, dresses, clocks, telephone exchange set, printing press, typewriter, kitchen set, gasoline station, old machines, cameras, radios, old pictures of Cloverdale and much more to see. I love the mosaic inside the building at full walls that consist of thousands of old pictures.

  • 5/5 David N. 5 years ago on Google
Although the exhibits are on the small side, they will be a hit with the kids. The is enough animatronic action at the dinosaur exhibit to keep the children mesmerized. And once they tire of the fossil displays, there is a play area for the children with an emphasis on conservation and sustainability. And best of all, it's free!

  • 5/5 Lily L. 9 months ago on Google
The museum itself was a pleasant surprise. They had many artifacts on display and stories to share the history of this city. I learned lots about my own city. They also have rotational exhibits. Great for families and kids!

Museum of Surrey is free to the public. Don't miss the "Worlds of Wonder" LEGO exhibit! Kids love interactive TD Explore Zone. Visit the dedicated First Nations Gallery. Restored heritage buildings to fall 2019. Public Admission sponsored by the Friends of the Surrey Museum and Archives. Closed Mondays.

This is one of the best memorable museums I like to regular visit especially with kids as they get cool new exhibit and have really fun events like the one with so many species of rabbits live to see and the interactive play zone

Love this museum! It’s free, and they regularly have really interesting, well presented exhibits. I appreciate the rotating Indigenous Hall and the children’s play area. My son also enjoys the scavenger hunts. Staff are always really friendly and helpful. It’s one of our favourite places to visit.

Museum was very good, lots for kids to interact with in the play area( the area off to the right side of the entrance). The second floor has a nice exhibit of antiques from the past. We only had time to see those two areas, but there seemed to be more exhibits to see. It's great for a rainy day visit with the kids.

Lots of exhibits to allow us to understand more about the history of Surrey. It is a pleasure to visit the Museum. The big indoor playground on the ground floor allows the parents to take a rest while watching their kids play. The kids can definitely have a blast.

We had fun at the Mystic Creature Exhibit it was cool learning all the things and stories told all over the world about these fictional Mystic creatures... Maybe its facts.... lol Also, its great for little children to walk around in the play areas and My girls and I had a great time Upstairs looking at all the antiques and old fashioned ways ... Doesn't Compare to Toronto but still a fantastic time for a family forsure. You just need to make the most of it have no expectations just explore n have fun. Although it's free I'd encourage min $4/5 /person donations at front desk.

Pretty cool place to visit and know about the tools, appliances and other machinery our ancestors used and you can visit free of cost. There was a separate zone for kids to play that were not in the pics. I liked all the antiques there especially the tax calculator machine. I wonder how it works. I also liked the vintage car, the hanging baby cart and the fire engine.

Very friendly staff, was hoping to see the dinosaur exhibit didn't realize that it changed, grandkids enjoyed the lego just the same. They also really enjoyed playing in the kids room, the museum part was very fascinating to us, kind of had to move through more quickly than I'd liked too but the little ones got bored fast lol.

A fantastic place to visit for FREE! The feature exhibits are always great (Dinos! Lego! Etc) and the additional things like a lil theatre and a play place means everyone is happy! Be aware they are closed Mondays. And there are times where the feature exhibit area is closed if they are transitioning from one to another, so just check on that before you visit :)
