An absolute hidden gem! Drive to the top of Golden Ears parking and only a ten minute beautiful walk from the Gold Creek parking lot, through tranquil bliss whilst walking alongside emerald lake flow. An absolute must. Much less crowds and big groups but I recommend getting there early as the parking fills up by 09:00am. However, you can park further up and only an additional five minute walk or so. Please care for the environment and our local parks and beaches, clean up your trash and respect the area!

Always a nice enjoyable hike down. Only takes about 15 minutes to get the the beach from the parking lot. Surrounded by mountains, some of the views are simply breathtaking. Glad to have such a beautiful spot to go and relax year round so close to home. Great for all ages, and fitness levels.

We walked in from the Gold Creek walk in camp site parking lot. We had walked in on the North side of the creek before but the higher vantage on the South side was a nice perspective. The paddle boards and canoes looking serene set in the clear rocky pools along the trail and looking down from above at cliff diving and rope swings.

For North Beach endpoint we need walk beside the river for 1km. Less crowded. Best place for kayak (rentals not available)/swimming. View is beautiful (but South beach view is much better than North beach view)

Genuinely nice beach area but... too small. Negative point: You might need to walk 12 minutes caring on all your stuff and ended up not finding a spot to rest your feet on the sand. It is a small beach area.

Highly recommended for family, particularly for teenagers for swimming or diving, when you walk along the north beach trail, the gold creek is just at your right side, there are many spots you can access to the creek. I think wheelchairs accessible, no slope or bump.

Private and calming atmosphere. Even though there were a lot of other people at the beach when we were there, we still could get a good private spot for picnic. Not too many tree giving shades on summer day, so it would be good if you could bring a light tent and use generous amount of sunscreen. We brought our dog, where he could find some friends to play in the lake. We had a good about 5-10 minutes walk from nearest parking lot through the camping site. Just like other national parks in BC, we needed to book online to get a free day pass.

The beach itself was well-kept. Easy trail leading up to the beach. The weather was perfect, ambience was peaceful and the view was amazing.

Amazing spot, very chill and not very busy. Lots of toilets scattered over the campgrounds and if you need to shower you can just head over to one of the other sites. Staff on the gate could do with cheering up a bit.

Amazing view! We went there on a long weekend and it’s surprisingly not very populated. There’s a 10 min trek from the parking site that could be a pain especially if you have a toddler with you or you are bringing quite a bunch of stuff but it is very much worth it.

Beautiful secluded beach. May not be pleasant if crowded. Calm waters for paddlebaording. Bring shade if you plan on hanging out for a while.

The North Beach Campground is part of Golden Ears Provincial Park. It is a more rustic camping experience with pit toilets and no easy access to potable water. (However, water is available just a 15-minute drive away.) These are minor inconveniences. The campground is small with only 55 sites and a Host Site. The sites are a good size with mature forest, brush and natural features in between them. The beach is a 10 to 20-minute walk away... downhill. In the other direction is the trail to Lower Falls on Gold Creek. North Beach is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. (We held our Father and Son Campout here and had a great time.)

One of our happy places when we are in Maple Ridge and visiting Golden Ears. The 15min trek in from the parking lot is well worth it when you have this beautiful site at the end! Shallow entry into the water, but steep drop. Inexperienced swimmers and young children should wear a life jacket.

Great beach, lots of room to move arround and also offers some in land places for shade and semi private with all the trees and plants. We got here by walking about a 15-20 min walk on uneven ground through a pathway. The washrooms are outhouses near the entrance and no issues with bugs at the time. Also great place to paddle board if you can carry it on the walk.

This is an amazing campground however people wanting to Cliff jump need to realize the lake depth can change over night. Where you jumped yesterday my no longer be safe today. We witnessed a teenage death due to jumping near the river entrance to the lake. It seems there are also a lot of camp sites for the number of staff on hand to help deal with those who over consume… in late August a group had a bonfire on the beach with the wind blowing strongly from the north, nobody on hand to help deal with the crowd or put the fire out. This is the fire pit the next day…

Great place, water not so cold, dog and family friendly. 1km hike to get there from parking.

I went there during heat wave when it was 42 degrees in the Frazer valley but up here due to elevation temp was 31, so it was a relief. North beach is great with lots of greenery and amazing mountain views. Lots of things to explore nearby. On a hot summer weekend it would be hard to find a parking spot so come prepared!

Very cozy place The lake is extremely clean. There are mountains around the lake, so it is rarely windy there. You can swim on spoons, kayaks. There is a small beach where you can relax and sunbathe.

Dry dock camping with kids. The camping spots are well spread out and have a nice private feel. Nice rocky beach with room to spread out. Trail from the beach along the river with rocky outcrops along the way for swimming in the summer. We also did the Lower Falls trail by the campground with kids from 4 to 9 years old. They were tired by the end but able to do it. Pics are from that trail.

Quiet, quaint and calm. A short little hike, maybe a kilometre, rewards you with a spectacular view.

A true hidden gem in Maple Ridge! In the summer months it's can get very busy ans too many people unfortunately leave their garage and it's disheartening. Great place for a family day out!

Nice trail for the entire family. It is mostly flat. When you reach the beach the view is incredible specially if it is sunny. Come early because the parking lot gets busy

👍👍 Great park to have a picnic in. Whonnock lake is always beautiful. In winter it’s perfect to skate on and in summer, it’s warm enough to swim in. They used to have a place where you could rent boats from, but, unfortunately, last time I was there I noticed the boat rental was gone.
