Looks like another failing department store The staff here are quite snooty. Surprising as it's not really even that high end. The lady on the 4th floor was a bit rude to my mother who had a few questions about the furniture. Very dismissive, as if they were stupid questions to be asking. What made it worse as that she didn't seem to know the sale prices.

Escalators going down were out of service - not sure for how long now, as I don't live on the island. I'm aware that Elevator technicians are in short supply. So, I can't really say much. The bathrooms were near the elevators, which was good for my older mom who can't walk very far. I also used the bathrooms, and they were just fine. No issues there. I got some black nylons that they were trying to get rid of. They came to $5 each. Lower than all of their competitors and higher quality. I also got a black dress that they were trying to get rid of (from the spring season I'm guessing) for $50. Regularly $100. It should've been $50 to begin with. ;) Nah. It's thicker fabric than clothing their competitors stock their shelves with. So no worries. The dress will last me longer & feels a lot nicer. The cashier Jared was cool. He asked all of the necessary questions they force their staff to ask & wasn't pushy. Nice guy.

My experience with the Hudson’s Bay has been good except for my last visit which was today. I went there to purchase a bag, but noticed that there was a huge difference between the store and website price. When I asked the salesperson and even showed her the price on their own website, an “I am sorry” was her response. It was really disappointing!

Terrible customer service, the salesperson made us feel very unwelcome. My husband and I have been eyeing a Ted Baker duvet set for my mom in law's birthday. We were more than ready to purchase the full set + flat sheets. The salesperson upon seeing us from the escalator decided to rudely remind us not to sit on the display beds. We said we understood, and left it at that. While we were looking at the sets we wanted to purchase, she once again, decided to interject herself. This time she wanted to redirect us to the clearance and discount section, despite us being sure of our choice. This made us feel as if we were judged and discriminated against. Decided not to get the set, will probably just order it online.

Jazz was amazing; kind, knowledge and fun. Best customer service i have had in a store in Victoria. I have been back three times because of her. I bought Calvin C suit from her off the rack and she went out of her way and steamed the shirt for me after helping me put the outfit together. I only wish the store had more inventory and more 100% wool suits, and high end shirts. Either way I will be back. Also, two brothers working (didn’t get their names) were super helpful and friendly as well. Thank you!

Ordered 1 pair of sandals + 1 pair of deck shoe loafers. Quality was quite low for cost. Loafers say they were the size I ordered, no way, I have to break them in to stretch them to fit. They both came from Shoe Boutique thru the Bay. Can only return to Shoe Boutique. I guess when it comes to online shopping you take a gamble 🎰 boo Shoe Boutique.

The escalator system was broken both ways for floors 2 and 3. Down for 2 to 5.The only way down from 5 to 4 is the elevators. There's no mall entrance. One was out of order and the other only works sometimes. We were waiting for 15min for it. No stairs available. I worry if there was a fire as the escalaters were barricaded. The staff were pleasant and I don’t blame them, but from a safety standpoint it wasn't good. Hit some nice sales though!

Very very bad customer service on the 2 level perfume section selling Dior. No sales associate to help you out. You have to figure everything’s out on your own and the ones who work are racist. Wouldn’t recommend to go there, unless you want a bad service.

Although they have huge signs in the windows and all over the store, it wasn't until I was ready to cash out my items that I discovered that you had to be a member of their club in order to pay the discounted prices that they advertise.

This is a truly amazing place - good food, good prices, and an amazing proprietors. We went one morning for a great breakfast, returned 2 days later and ordered the same light breakfast. It comes with hash browns, tasty enough, but I limit carbs, so didn't finish them. When she served us, she said, "I noticed you didn't finish the hash browns last time, so I added some tomatoes and cucumbers for you. Not only an incredible memory, but a truly nice woman. She even has a shelf of children's books, all with a pickle theme.

The Bay is always a top choice. Variety of styles and price points. Lots of sale items. It seems whenever I buy something, even if I think I'm paying full price, it's usually cheaper at the till. Selection is slimmer since covid tho. 😕

How is this department store still surviving! Visited in June and hardly any esculaters working. The lift seem to be on holiday on how slow it is. Visited November and its still not working. It's like they don't want people to shop in their bay centre Bay location. And no signs for directions to stairs. What if there's an emergency how do we evacuate. Im not a resident so dont know all the exits. Didn't bother shopping here today due to all the blocked esculaters.

Elevators and escalators are mostly out of order. You’d see more out of orders signs more than promo signs. Out of order escalators, elevators, bathrooms, tills. Entire department stores operates with on elevator that’s ages old and is very slow. To go from one floor to next can take minutes. Not worth the time especially during busy times like Christmas.

My shopping experience here has been nothing less than a nightmare! I purchased a sofa that arrived defective after three weeks of rescheduling deliveries. They don’t take any responsibility for the delays and the calls with customer service have been really frustrating! I’m still waiting for an exchange to happen which again has been rescheduled without even informing me. I had to call to find out the delivery was rescheduled to next weekend (9 days later). They refuse to compensate me until the item is delivered (which keeps getting delayed without proper communication). I am waiting to hear back from a supervisor today and I don’t even trust that this is gonna resolve the issue. After my exchange happens, I’m never shopping here again!

Had a terrible experience here today while shopping back to school with my grand daughter. The bay center mall is open until 8 pm. The store The bay closes at 6. We were not aware of this and got locked in the store. I was in a complimentary wheelchair from the bay center. They didn't warn anybody and just locked the doors. We were told to go to the elevator at the back of the store. It was broken and did not work properly. A rickety old elevator. We had to wait a very long time. And no one seemed to know if it worked or not. It finally came and took us to a different entrance to the mall. Very unpleasant experience. Won't shop at this store again. My grand daughter was afraid. Instead of unlocking the doors to the mall and letting us out they chose this option. We put our purchases back and didn't buy a thing as we were forced to focus on getting out.

I usually shop at the Mayfair mall location but I just finished ordering three watches online and two were for in-store pickup. The in-store pickups were for both locations due to stocking issues however the Mayfair location ended up emailing me informing that the watch I ordered was in fact not actually in stock at their location. I did however find the model I was looking for at the downtown location and ended up picking it up with another watch (total of 4 watches now) that I’ve been contemplating. The lady there (Martha) was super helpful especially that I’m a collector and like all the original packaging it comes with. The down town location does not keep them organized as the Mayfair location does, so she had some patience and helped me find the correct-enough packaging. However, in my excitement I didn’t realize that both watches did not have the user manual. Then I realized that one of the watches also didn’t have the warranty papers. I’m super busy this week (feb 27 - mar 3) with school. So I’m hoping they can correct this when I have a bit more time next week. Other than that, the experience was amazing and Martha was kind and patient. The lady at the desk that helped with my online order wasn’t so much. She also gave me the attitude that I felt at the alternate location. Like I wasn’t worth her time. She made me feel uncomfortable like I didn’t belong there. This is why I chose a 4 star review. Would have been even lower just due to the fact that I experienced this behaviour at both locations now, however, Holly (Mayfair) and Martha (downtown) were exceptional. I’m still going to make The Bay my initial distributor when searching for more watches to add to my collection if it falls in the brands they hold; thanks to these wonderful ladies.

UUURGGG!!! We have been trying to sort out a billing issue at the Victoria Store for the last 5 days. The store customer service phone does not get answered and there is no operator. We wrote to customer support, who asked for a copy of the statement, when we provided it, they referred us back to the store where we resumed the same merry-go-round again. We found the quick answer number, great!. NO. after 10 minutes we established it only relates to NEO cards!!!!. While writing this, my wife has been speaking to someone in South Africa?. .....who has left her on hold for ages on a call lasting 24 minutes, all they could do was to provide the store number!!!!! They advised we went to the store in person, even though they were told this involves over one hour's drive.........There are many adjectives one could use, but what is the point.........

Just had a wonderful experience at the optical department. Even though I wasn't a client I needed a repair of the nose pad on my glasses.Ann-Rita was fast efficient and very customer friendly. My glasses were fixed in no time and I was pleasantly on my way. Thank you!!

We had an absolutely horrible experience in downtown Victoria. We had a credit for a mattress (warranty) and one of the Victoria staff was incredibly rude to us after finding out it was an exchange. He literally walked away from us. I believe he thought the exchange would not earn him any commission. After the gentleman left a very sour taste in our mouths, we came across a salesman that seemed eager to help, however, by that time, we’d been in the store a few hours and we were tired and not ready to make a decision after our experience. The following week, we decided to try a different store and explained our situation to Cheryl at the Nanaimo location. Commission or not, she was happy to help. She even dealt with the exchange people for us which the first gentleman told us “they don’t do that part” We actually used the credit towards a much more expensive option (almost triple the price of our original mattress) The first salesperson really missed out! You snooze, you lose!

Absolutely the worst customer service for on line shopping. Package was delivered to the wrong province and no one can seem to help find it or handle the issue. I have spent way too much time on an error that is the Bay's responsibility. I would not recommend on line shopping here!

I went to the perfume section last night at around 5:30pm. I asked the sales rep, a 50 year old Caucasian lady for a piece of paper so I could smell this specific Gucci Red bottle. These were my exact words "Hey could I have a piece of paper" and she replied with "yeah sure, I'll find someone who speaks your language". My experience was sickening. I'm a second generation Canadian that speaks perfect english. I will NEVER buy anything from the bay ever again.

Got a beautiful wedding present here and bought some wrapping paper, and the sweetest staff lady let us wrap it at the desk with her help! Beyond grateful for her customer service - over and above 🌞
