This
review
is
for
the
outpatient
pediatric
clinic.
We
made
an
appointment
for
our
5-year
old's
second
COVID
vaccine
shot
because
this
location
had
openings,
so
we
weren't
regular
patients.
The
reception
by
the
front
desk
staff
was
not
very
welcoming
-
she
sounded
bored
and
barely
made
eye
contact.
And
then
we
waited.
And
waited.
During
which,
there
was
only
one
other
family
in
the
wait-room.
We
probably
waited
at
least
20
minutes.
And
this
was
just
for
a
shot,
not
to
see
a
doctor.
Once
they
finally
brought
us
to
the
room,
the
nurse
was
pleasant
but
also
sounded
bored
and
didn't
even
look
at
my
son
or
say
anything
to
him
(and
he
was
very
nervous).
And
then
we
waited
again.
Another
15
minutes
at
least.
For
her
to
get
the
shot.
We
could
hear
and
see
her
chatting
and
laughing
with
other
nurses
near
their
work
station,
and
no
other
patients
walking
through.
Our
son
was
getting
so
nervous,
and
we
were
simply
getting
frustrated.
When
she
finally
came
back,
she
said
boisterously
"here
I
am!",
and
again,
didn't
address
our
son,
until
I
started
verbally
reassuring
him,
and
then
she
said
"yeah,
it's
ok
buddy".
No
trying
to
prepare
him
by
explaining
what
she
was
going
to
do,
or
using
techniques
to
distract
or
calm
him,
nothing!
And
then
we
were
done,
and
she
wished
us
a
good
day
and
left.
My
first
thought
was
whether
we
were
actually
in
a
PEDIATRICS
clinic,
with
staff
who
knew
anything
about
working
with
children?
Now,
I
understand
that
during
this
pandemic
climate,
with
all
the
understaffing
and
wage-freezes,
etc,
that
staff
might
be
feeling
kind
of
grumpy.
Sure.
My
husband
also
works
for
Fairview
and
morale
is
definitely
low.
But
SURELY
one
can
separate
feelings
for
their
employer
from
their
interactions
with
patients?
Believe
me,
we
will
never
schedule
appointments
with
the
Burnsville
location
again.
