I've been going to this location since 2010 but less so in the last few years since, moving closer to Columbia. I think it use to be under the Maiwand Kabob family-owned chain of restaurants (which are excellent), but not anymore hence the name change to "Maiwand Grill". Today, we ordered chicken and kofta kabobs. Everything was really bad. 1. Really dry pieces of chicken and not your typical red-color tikka seasoning 2. Kofta was overcooked and dry 3. Rice didn't have raisins. 4. Bread was burned around the edges 5. The mint chutney sauce didn't have any flavor. Tasted like green water. Do yourself a favor and drive 10 more mins north of Burtonsville on route 29 to the Maiwand Kabob in Fulton, MD. The food is soo much better!

Chicken and lamb dry and overcooked. The spinach was overly spicy and watery. The eggplant had no peppers or tomatoes where was the garlic sauce that goes on top. The rice portion for an afghan restaurant was dismal. Bread was ok. The worst part of the meal was the disgusting "salad' if you call that a salad- Lettuce was brown, dressed with what seemed like a yogurt dressing. Very inconsistent and disappointing

What the h3ll happened to this establishment?! This used to be my go to for good Afghani food. I ordered takeout, Aushak and mantu pumpkin. I received lentils in a container. No dumpling wrap, no yogurt sauce. Just lentils in a cup. The pumpkin mantu had no yogurt sauce. Just yogurt in a container. Not patronizing this business again. If you know you don't wrap the aushak in dumplings, you should have let me know that when i ordered. I'll be taking my business and money elsewhere. I'll take the 35-40 minute drive to DC for Bistro Aracosia where they serve REAL AFGHAN food with no surprises!

Food was fresh, cooked to perfection and served with grace! I had the chicken kabob with rice, salad and bread. In addition I ordered a side of curry chickpeas. My daughter had the wrap served with krinkle fries and soda. If your in the area stop by here for authentic kabobs!!!

Food was really good ! I got the veggie platter & the pumpkin was the best pumpkin I’ve had from an afghan restaurant in a while, I was also able to replace the eggplant with some more chickpeas which was really good . This only gets a 4/5 though because the samosas I got were the worst samosas I’ve ever had 🤕 I thought I was getting a steal for $6 for 6 because most places charge $5-6 for 2 or 3 but I couldn’t even finish them. Oh well, outside of that. The veggie platter & naan bread it came with was really good ! Will definitely be coming back

Not very good for Afghan food. Do yourself a favor and hop on 29 and head up to Maiwand Kabob in Maple Lawn (or any other Maiwand Kabob location), and see what good Kabob tastes like.

I’ve eaten here twice now and both times the food and service were amazing🥰 I definitely recommend!

I'd bump it up to 3.5, but not a 4. The food was fine. Passable. Much more expensive than it was worth. The beef was over cooked and the chicken was dry. I'm always annoyed at places that charge so much for tiny bottled waters. If your gonna have a TV on the in dining area, can you switch it to something like landscapes or art? CNN is depressing and doesn't inspire my appetite.

Great customer service the staff is very hospitable and very catering. They also can you do a custom orders according to your diet and what it is you actually would like to eat. Great place I have been coming here for years.

Got beef kabobs and chicken Tikka. Honestly was just stopping by on the way home. Been a while since I had afghan food and I gotta say I'm glad I did. Food was spectacular and restaurant was clean and well kept. Do yourself a favor and stop by

When you order, ask them to cook it rare. Usually 5 stars but they seem to be over cooking their food a bit lately. The medium rare lamb is rather medium. The rice is a little dry. The salad and dressing are still great. The naan is possibly the most fluffy and chewy one in the area, it's also especially large!!

I first ordered through UberEats & I fell in LOVE with their food. So I ordered two more times and honestly the food is AMAZINGGGGGG!!!! Currently eating the lamb curry & it is to die for. The customer service I received from Zafahr & Farid was truly the best. Most definitely recommend & will DEFINITETLY be ordering again. Thank you gentlemen!!

I payed 19.06 and this is what I got, lamb chops the size of the sauce cups smh. If you want lamb chops that never disappoint go to city kabob.

Third time I've gotten sick while eating the chicken here. I suspect it wasn't fully cooked. I suggest to avoid this place at all costs.

I'd really like to give this place five stars. The food is fresh and good quality. It tastes delicious and isn't heavy on your stomach. It can be a great low-carb choice too since they let you substitute the bread and rice for their other sides like spinach an/or eggplant. But I do have to say that the service isn't always the best. The food takes quite a while to come (perhaps because it is so fresh) and twice recently I've reached home with my to-go order only to find that my meal wasn't what I ordered.

Although the food is okay, yet, it is nothing compared to Maiwand KABOB. We drove about one and a half hour to figure out it was Maiwand GRILL not Kabob. The kofta has more garlic than it should be. The chicken (boneless) is okay. The bread is their best. If you are not familiar with Maiwand kabob, this restaurant is okay.

Not a great experience at Maiwand Grill. My family and I ordered takeout which happened to be identical to a previously made, online takeout order that was sitting on the counter waiting for pickup. We were told that the completed order was for another customer and were assured that a new batch of food would be made for us. We waited in the seating area for at least 30 minutes for food to come out only for me to watch from a distance as the old order (which was never picked up) was packed in a bag with naan and given to my mother. I should have spoken up at the time, but the audacity of the business practice, especially after waiting for so long, was too extreme for me to process in the moment. When we got home to eat the food, of course it was cold. No sauce came with the lamb ordered and the naan was sloppily made as they had large rips and pieces of black charcoal still attached to them (most of which needed to be picked off using my finger nails). The food itself was pretty good despite me having to microwave it. I really wanted to like this local restaurant, but sadly I won't be returning unless they get better organized behind the counter and become more considerate of their customers. There are plenty of other restaurants to patronize next door.

Great food and friendly service. Although the salad is weak, proportion sizes were good and meat seasoning were flavorful. Would recommend!

I don’t know how I did not find out about this place earlier. Hands down the best afghan food in the area. Had the chicken and lamb combo with substituted chickpeas instead of salad. I have NEVER had meat this tender and tasty. Do NOT forget the green chutney and white sauce. Ambiance is simply decorated and cozy vibes. Bringing my family next weekend

Love this place! My husband and I love their chicken kabobs. The service is always friendly and the kabobs delicious. We live about 15 - 20 minutes away but we will make the drive for carry out.

After ordering here I can definitely say that I’m coming back. I’m a fan of Afghan food and I’ve been to all the maiwands, and this one truly hits the best. The chicken&kofta combo with the kabuli rice and the chickpeas are amazing. I also ordered a side of their sweet pumpkin. 10/10.
