Other than a brief visit in 2011, this was a favourite old haunt (hike) in my student days in the late '80's, and despite the overcast weather, the moderate trek up to Peel Tower surpassed expectations. Astonishing views (shame the pictures don't do them justice) plus could still make out Blackpool Tower despite the clouds ☁ especially how the landscape has changed over recent decades. A thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours to cap off a day's work! :)

Absolutely Beautiful walk, accessible from multiple paths. We walked up behind the hair and hounds to the tower, then did a loop around towards the quarry. The view across greater Manchester was phenomenal as was the view of Manchester engulfed in a cloud of smog

What a beautiful place to visit! We came to the area and did a 14 mile hike. This hill were beautiful! We ate our packed lunch up here and took in the view

Lovely walk, easy and quick ascent to the top and totally worth the views you have of Manchester. Only a short walk but lovely way to spend an afternoon.

A bit of a hike to get to the top, but totally worth expending the energy for the stunning view of the surrounding view of the amazing countryside from the top. If it seems a bit too steep from the bottom, don't be discouraged - there are plenty of places to stop and rest while making the ascent.

Great views of Manchester and the Peak District to the south and snowdonia on a clear day to the west. Just wish people would take their rubbish.using a cairn to stash poo bags and beer bottles isn't good

Beautiful if you want to hike up quite a walk not for the faint hearted. Wear walking shoes or boots take a coat it's windy at the top. Can also be muddy. Beautiful views from the top

An amazing walk, even in the snow....gorgeous views and we met some very friendly people along the way. The full walk with 2 kids and 2 dogs took us about 1 hour. But, there is a longer route if thats what you prefer....highly recommended πŸ‘Œ.

One of the best walks in bury going up to peel tower and beyond onto Holcombe moor. If you're extra lucky you might get up to the tower and it's open and you can climb all the stairs and look out from the top.

I've lived about 20 mins away from here since 1989 and only went up for the first time last week. It was a lovely afternoon walk, not too strenuous and the views are lovely. There is a bench halfway up so you can sit and gave a rest if you so wish. There is a very small car park at start of the climb but it was full when we got there so we parked on the road. Peel tower is occasionally open but not when we went.

Steep, but a great walk up to the Peel Tower and then over the moors. Fantastic views past Manchester and beyond on a clear day to Snowdonia or Derbyshire.

Good bit of exercise walking up gets your blood pumping if you go straight up the hill or you can follow the less steep path to the top. AMAZING views definitely a WOW factor. Can be bitter on a windy day but beautifully hot on a summers day.

Really nice to walk from the main road, down the side of Hoysters, up through the woods, and over the Moor before climbing Holcombe Hill 😊 On a clear day you can see Liverpool!

Been up a few times now and what a view! I have to stop to catch my breath, 75 now! but I get great joy when we reach the top. Other climbers chat to you, it's a lovely walk.

Amazing views over Greater Manchester. Its a bit of a difficult walk up but well worth it!

An unplanned hike/biking up the pilgrim cross and down via peel tower, apart from one or two steeper slopes it was an enjoyable hike of moderate/easy difficulty.

Great views and some easier and harder route options. Try and find a day when Peel Tower is open (rare).
