This is a great place. Very good staff and nice large pool. Shame that Bury Council don’t invest in or maintain the place. Why is there a barrier in the rear car park with the arm missing and wiring hanging out of an electric control panel? Diving boards not in use and closed off because they can’t be bothered to upgrade them. They’ve closed the cafeteria in favour of a vending machine for to financial pressure and replaced it with some seating which is just a dead unused area and could be so much better

The booking system is a nightmare! So much trouble to book a swim. But can't risk showing up and not being able to swim with a young family. Needs looking into. Current dance competitions taking up all the parking and no notice from the centre prior to the event to ensure those using the centre for its facilities park elsewhere or arrive earlier. Poor communication from the centre overall.

Went today for the first swimming session at the leasure centre. Several pools available and good facilities. Went to the ladies only swim due to religious reasons. To my surprise one of the pools were being occupied by school children (both girls and boys). I found several men still using the pool at a time when it should have been Ladies only. I expected a female Lifeguard, but for half of the time there a male Lifeguard was on duty. I expected better, especially for it being such a big centre. Some changes need to be made if they want woman from all backgrounds/religions to be comfortable with swimming there. Was planning on having this centre as the place for my weekly swimming sessions, but that can no longer be the case unless some changes happen.

Absolutely terrible! The water isn't very warm, there's nothing for kids to play with, the viewing area is run down and tired, the diving boards are closed, the shallow end of the main pool is blocked off, my six year old got very upset while he was in there due to a group of unruly kids and when we asked if we could change to the smaller pool we were told absolutely not and that we would have to book separately for that. We now travel to Chorley allseasons swimming baths which is a much more pleasant experience, plenty of pool toys and floats, can transition from the main pool into the smaller warmer pool and far more welcoming, cleaner and brighter. Stay away from the underfunded, dingy hole that is bury swimming baths. Bury council would rather spend money on ridiculous cycle paths than invest in fun places for local children to go during the holidays.

I normally love coming here but today the family changing rooms stunk of urine but a r a really nasty smell, like it had been more than a days passed and it’s not been cleaned kind of smell.. and a male staff member kept just walking past and staring as people were mentioning it so he definitely heard and ignored the situation. Then in the actual kids pool it was so cold we all had goosebumps even moving around in the pool it was still cold would probably not come again now.

On my forth visit to the swimming baths I was swimming in the fast lane and although not the fastest in the fast lane, it wasn't busy, I wasn't in anyone's way and there had been no complaints but the lifeguard Steve decided to stop me swimming to tell me I was in the wrong lane because I was slightly slower than the other swimmers. He did this very publicly and in an extremely condescending and humiliating way so that everyone in the pool could stop to watch him embarrass me. He spoke to me like a child and didn't listen to anything I had to say. It was very unprofessional, had there actually been an issue or complaint he could have spoken to me when I got out in private. The lane wasn't even busy, if I had been in the slow lane I would have been overtaking women who just stand there chatting, if I had swam in the middle lane I would have been repeatedly hit by backstroke swimmers and that lane was particularly busy. I don't feel I would be comfortable going back there. Facilities are okay but shame about the staff.

Update 21/08/2022 - Staff have now put signs up in the disabled toilet and shower asking people to not tie up the emergency cords & these were not tied up on my most recent visit. Thank you! Original review below: My review is of the pool and service received only - This is a good leisure centre with friendly staff. Discounts are available for people meeting certain criteria at an upfront cost of £6.50 The main pool is quite large. Not exactly warm but at the same time not too cold. One thing I would suggest is putting some signage up to make people aware of hidden disabilities (in fact, work with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme) - I had one customer tell me I shouldn't have used the disabled changing room which I assume is because to them I "don't appear disabled" as I don't use any mobility aids such as a wheelchair, even though I am autistic and find publicly shared changing rooms overwhelming. Also, please put some signage up in the disabled shower and toilets to not tie up the red emergency cord. I had to untie these twice. They exist for a reason, in case someone slips and falls they can get help by pulling it I will be visiting again. Thank you for a good swim session

Great place for swimming, Table Tennis and Squash. Can't comment on other activities as these are the only ones I do

My son attended weekly lessons here for years and now my daughter does the same. Teachers and staff are great and very reasonably priced. Pool is never freezing. Definitely the only place I go to swim!

Good Centre but drink machines serve almost water instead of chocolate, capucino or chicken soup. Been like this for months so I presume it's the operating company strategy for making money.

Haven't been here for 20 years. First time back and still exactly how it used to be. Majorly in need of updating. Family changing room needs to be so much better than they are. The app you've got to use is dreadful. Wouldn't accept my payment and when it did I couldn't change or cancel my timeslot so called but was on the phone for over 30 mins and no answer. Baby pool was quite cold to say its for kids so had to get my lad out after half an hour as he was shivering. Not impressed at all.

I've been going to the gym here for over 5 years, the gym is great if you don't like crowded places. Has all the equipment you need really. The staff are always Friendly / Welcoming. Although if you take your bike to this leisure centre I would be cautious as bikes do get stolen from here quite frequently, my bike got stolen in 2018. And someone's bike was stolen just over 2 / 3 months ago. So it is a recurring problem. So I would be alert if you do travel here on your bike.

The staff are brilliant but the local council are hell bent on spoiling the centre. They have made all the reception staff redundant and are installing turnstiles instead that nobody wants and are a complete waste of money. It would be much better if they spent the money fixing the broken gym equipment and diving boards!

The gym is class up to date treadmills and exercise bikes have screens on them so can choose a circuit from anywhere in world. Swimming is OK a little dated but clean and well maintained. Separate pool for little children. Well staffed all polite.
