There are several private concessions that form part of the Greater Kruger National Park, one being the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. During our visit we stayed at the Motswari Private Game Reserve (reviewed separately) which I can highly recommend. It is good to note that you need to stay at one of the lodges within the Timbavati/Klaserie/Umbabat to be able to enter the park. We had an amazing array of sightings, as all the animals found within the Kurger National Park can be found here, including an up-close sighting of a leopard within a river bed. The Timbavati also has a large range if bio-diverse regions to explore depending on the lodge you are staying at and the staff at the Enkhulu gate, where we entered, were very friendly and took nature conservation extremely seriously.

Was always my dream to come to Kruger. Now that I’m here it’s not something that you can imagine or even watch You have to actually come here to see it. So many interesting things. Incredible

Relaxed atmosphere, nice rondawals with bath on suite. Good food. Book extra activities like a sunset drive. They have their own guides and game drive vehicles. Friendly and competent staff.

Wonderful place to come glad I got the chance to see a leopard just 2 m from the vehicle, such a great experience really enjoy that it's an escape from tech and society just plain and simple out doors and nature will definitely make a point of returning here

Nada como verlos en su hábitat natural y escucharlos rugir 🐾🦁 . El mejor lente para ir de Safari es uno que tenga un buen zoom!! Así puedes capturar cada detalle 🦁 The Timbavati Game Reserve is located at the border line between Hoedspruit in (Limpopo) and Acornhoek in (Mpumalanga), north of the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve on the western edge of Kruger National Park. Geographically and politically, Timbavati is located in Mpumalanga Province. In Xitsonga, the name 'Timbavati' means "the place where something sacred came down to Earth from the Heavens," and refers to the rare white lions of Timbavati

The reserve encompasses numerous lodges for guests to choose from. There is a fee to pay at the gates in order to enter, but it is well worth it. But, be warned, some of the lodges are located deep within the reserve and there are strict speed limits to observe. So, if you wish to check-in at a lodge at a specific time, you have to arrive early at the gates. Take your time driving through the reserve, the wildlife freely roams the terrain, so you might spot them around any bend.

We were there last week. A very good atmosphere, fantastic guides who know their subject! All personnel very attentive. I would greatly recommend. The rooms are cleaned at least twice a day.

The Timbavati is a world class private reserve contributing significantly to conservation in South Africa. Highly recommend Kings Camp as the perfect destination to unwind and connect with the African bush. Pure bliss!

The reserve is nice. Very similar to the Kruger just with a few more private lodges. The animals weren't too skittish. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
