Please don't pay to see the animals here. These beautiful big cats are kept in the smallest cages (on average they look to be about 10 feet by 20 feet.) I had to do some work very near their grounds and it saddened me to see the cats pacing around in their cells or just quietly watching me as I worked. It's hard to see a majestic creature like a male lion in a very small cage....forever. This place buys lions and tigers as kittens and keeps them for the purpose of making an income. These aren't rescue cats for the most part (are any of them truly rescues?) I really wanted to see the cats up close but I refuse to give this place a cent. Please help me in trying to get this place closed. It's the right thing to do. And no, I am not an animal rights activist. Pull into the parking lot on a Monday and just watch and listen (they are closed Mondays.)

Absolutely Amazing! Definitely pleased with animals, people, and accommodations. Everyone is friendly and pleasure to speak with. The animals did not disappoint. They were up walking around, we got to see feeding time, and hear a few roars. They had golf cars that we could use, free of charge, for all 6 of us. Nice touch for me being disabled and my 2 pregnant daughters. Such a Great experience! 👍🏽

Overall the park grounds where well maintained. There's a lot of different exotic animals to view.. The staff was friendly & kind. The surrounding land on the drive, to the park was pretty. It's a quiet place & u can also bring ur lunch if u wanted (picnic area) inside that's shaded. Overall.. I gave 3 stars bcz I feel, that these animals are being kept in too small of cages! I unfortunately, won't come back bcz I didn't enjoy seeing that part of the park! It's my own opinion. Everything else was great.

We really enjoyed this place. I know some people are noting that the animals don't have big habits for space, but I'm happy that they are being taken care of. Not all of them are able to be rehabilitated to the degree that they can be transferred back out to the wild. When we were done looking at all of the animals, we found a very nice spot on the grounds to have our little picnic lunch. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable here, also. We will be back!

I am in shock that anyone could write this “sanctuary” a good review. This place is so depressing and the animals are kept in pathetic conditions. Large animals like tigers, cheetahs, and lions are kept in ridiculously small cages with no enrichment. The animals have nothing to do but pace back and forth. As people we need to do better.

The fact people are still leaving 3+ star reviews even after noticing the animals looked uncomfortable is baffling to me. Why would you encourage others to profit this place? + news just announced this place beats their "rescued" animals so, no thanks. Won't be spending a dime here nor anywhere else that holds animals in cages for viewing. You really want to stop the mistreatment of animals then stop going to places like this, zoos, sea world, etc. I'm pretty sure these places can take care of the animals without making a profit off of it. Heart breaking how adults aren't seeing the pattern and letting their kids think this is where animals belong. 💔💔

As another reviewer stated. I too am shocked visitors could write this “sanctuary” a positive review. After seeing living conditions of lions tigers, and other big cats, my kids were upset. Pacing back-and-forth with signs of distress, these animals, or so far from any natural setting, I would expect in the sanctuary. We left after a short time and hope others will learn from our sad experience.

There is no excuse for how small the enclosures are. Imagine living your entire life in a space smaller than a studio apartment, with very little enrichment and no space to explore. The big cats are beautiful but seeing them pace back and forth aimlessly is just depressing. You can see a trail worn away in the ground from where they constantly pace back and forth all day. I have no doubt the people who work here love the animals, but the enclosures really have to be better. And if there isn't enough space or money to do that, they need to find somewhere better for them. Places like this claim to be rescues so everyone can feel good about it but they are basically roadside zoos.

Very interesting place hidden in the outskirts of Oroville. Great selection of animals and very friendly staff. The only downside is the small enclosures. For the amount of land on the property the cages could definitely be expanded and maybe a cooling system for some of the critters.

Very small but nice staff. You can tour the sanctuary in about an hour. No real store on site and no food for sale. A lot of the same rescued animals. Staff are knowledgeable and give you great background as you engage in the walk

We went to this wonderful Sanctuary the day after Thanksgiving with my son, daughter husband and my son's fiancee from Dubai. We were very happy to know that there is a place that will care for these animals to no fault of their own are not able to live in the wild. The animals look well cared for and their living conditions are well looked after. We so enjoyed that my daughter and i instead of buying christmas presents for each other will be giving to an animal of our choice. Thank you all for this wonderful experience. Blessings to you all.

Visiting the second time with a tour gave me a better understanding why the animals were there. These animals have disabilities and injuries. I'm glad they have a place to go. Thank you for allowing Manzanita to visit :)

Animals are just gorgeous and with medical challenges well taken care of. Staff is friendly and care about animals. Recommend for animal lovers and getting information on their species. Whatever you do don't take the blue ball away from the bear. He loves his toy. Also want to say for the negative comments that sanctuaries don't run themselves. If you want to see larger enclosures than donate to the cause. The more people care and donate the more improvements can be done. Sanctuaries are done out of love of animals.

It was amazing to see all the animals up close. They really are amazing this place works solely on donations they rehabilitate some animals and then house some that cannot be placed back in the wild all the staff are volunteers they do have days where you can arrange to take pictures with baby animals and they very so stop by and visit them and if you can sponsor an animal talk to a volunteer about how

I like to take my granddaughter now, I've been going for years. I always promise David Allen that i will come back. He is a handsome Tiger That shares the same name as my dad. We will continue to go back.

Great place, this is mainly a rescue center, but some animals did not need to be there. I'm talking about how in the description it tells you why that animal is there, many of the animals were there because of nutritional program where they do lots of testing. Not bad prices 10$ for adult and 6$ for kids.

The people are wonderful and mean well. But really, these are the smallest cages imaginable. The animals are bigger than me, but their cage is smaller than my living room. One person working there said that pacing back-and-forth was normal, but I've never seen anything like it (in any kind of habitat). When I showed my mom pictures, her first words were, "those are the smallest cages I've ever seen..". It's true. I just feel kind of sad for them. At the same time, a lot of them are sick and need a place to stay. I guess.

This place isn't too big, but they have an impressive collection of exotic cats, including both first and second generation big-cat hybrids. There are a few other places you can see a liger, but there are only a handful of liligers in the entire world. This sanctuary is dedicated to providing a safe place for animals who otherwise would have probably been euthanized.

Well cared for and lively animals. Each one has a special story, and their personalities shine. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!

Second time I’ve come here during open hours and good weather yet they’re closed for “bad weather”. It’s too far of a drive to have to turn around. What’s so hard about just letting people in to look around? They have to be there anyway to look after the animals.
