Overall I enjoyed my stay - location is perfect, on a quiet wee street. Reception staff is very friendly and helpful (thank you again for the emergency taxi organisation, I did make it to the station in time!). Rooms are a little rundown and could really use some maintenance but reasonably clean and have all the basics. Same with the bathrooms that somehow were never crowded or dirty, even though I've never seen them being actually cleaned. The building itself is old and while it adds to the charm, walls feel like they are made out of a single sheet of plasterboard so pack your earplugs - you'll be overhearing conversations a few doors down.

I had an incredibly frustrating experience at this hostel. The shoe policy, which is a common practice in Malaysia and something we didn't mind, took a turn for the worse when my shoes were stolen. The receptionist's disrespectful attitude and the manager's empty promises to check the security cameras left me deeply disappointed. The place was dirty, with hair strewn all over the floor, forcing us to clean the bathroom upon arrival. It's a real shame because this colonial house has so much potential, but it's terribly mismanaged.

We booked the twin room - it is tiny, not a lot of floor space but beds are a good size. The blankets are itchy and not very warm. The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything to the sides and below you…not fun when you’re trying to sleep. Receptionist were extremely loud. The free cold water, tea coffee etc was a nice touch! Toilets and showers were clean and nice. Overall, the location is great and bathrooms were clean but the rooms weren’t great.

Great location, friendly staff, but terrible room. The walls were so thin you better hope you get either considerate neighbors or no neighbors. No staff around during night time, had to asked the neighbors to lower their voices both nights. Even at normal conversation volume, you can hear what people in the other rooms are saying very very clearly. Felt like there was no privacy whatsoever, can't even talk without the neighbors hearing.

Beautiful house which is perfectly located in Georgetown. Walking distance to all the main attraction of Georgetown. Plenty of restaurants and bars around. Lovely staff. Free filtered water and sweets. On the downside the soundproofing is non existent so be prepared to hear some noise from other guests or staff. Also I found the bathrooms not really clean.

Would highly commend the person in charge on 24/5/2022 about 9pm , one MR. ROSLAN who showed us the around the guest house full of pride & enthusiasm in his job. To his boss or the person who owns the guest house, you’ve got a very good employee whom you should greatly appreciate. Great job & keep up the good work Mr. ROSLAN.

Been travelling round South East Asia and India for around two months now and this certainly comes bottom of the pile for hostels. Receptionist was great. However some random guys who seem to work there smoking pot downstairs. Bedrooms are cramped. No storage. No privacy. Pretty poor :(

The lady at the reception was extremely unwelcoming!! She was rude and seemed more interested in checking her phone than in doing her job. We stayed in a dorm located in a different building on the other side of the street. The beds are comfortable and the sheets are clean. However, the room floor was extremely dirty, made me wonder how often they clean the rooms. The bathrooms are quite smelly and the hot water didn't work one of the two days we were there. There's a water dispenser but the water is not cold.

I chose a private room to avoid noise but I got the opposite since the people staying above my room keep moving and talking until midnight, it's not their fault but there's something with the room. Their floor which is also my room's ceiling keeps moving anytime the people staying above walking. The bed sheet smell unlikely too. The lighting isnt that bright. In addition, the shared shower room's floor is slippery and dirty. However, the service was good.

I don't feel safe the moment I entered the guesthouse. First, the reception staff is not friendly. I brought my shoes in my room in case they were stolen and I am glad I trusted my guts cos apparently I read a review just now here that someone's shoes were stolen. The room is so dark and dim, all three lights in my room were yellow light and I couldn't even read my book at night. The toilet bin where we have to throw in used toilet papers was always full to the brim and nobody cleared it up. If you requested guests to use this bin instead of flushing them into the toilet, shouldn't you make sure its always clear regularly? Imagine the stench... Some guests were smoking right under the non-smoking sign (a few) pasted there by the guesthouse. Yet no staff stopped them, they do have cameras and their noses to smell, right? Cos I could smell the smoke on level two corridor where my room is when they were smoking on the common area on level 1. No staffs around at 7pm even if there is, I don't think they are of much helpful when guest were allowed to smoke whenever and wherever they want.

Nice hostel, hot water, AC rooms, great location. However, if you are on a top bunk you have nowhere to put anything without disturbing people. I wear glasses, I can't leave them on my mattress 4 foot off the floor, nowhere to put books, phone etc.... Please take note as it'd be an awesome guesthouse otherwise.

Perfect location within the Heritage District. Proactive staff, very clean and competitively priced rooms. Congrats to Ms Moges for her assistance!

Pretty poor guest house. Bunk beds in the room were dusty and under the bed was filthy. Staff got defensive and dismissive when I was polity trying to understand a payment value discrepancy. Paid by cash but also charged to our card. I had to chase this up to ask them to refund after noticing. Walls are so thin you can hear others, as well as reception below. Positives are the free water and coffee. Good location, but might as well pay the extra £2 for somewhere else. Shame as the space looks really nice but no one seems bothered.

Good location, easy access to the main streets, very nice interior design, great vibe. However the walls are really thin so you can hear almost everything even those taking downstairs. The floors are made of wood, which is stylistic but it vibrates when someone is walking. So if the other people are inconsiderate then you might have a bad night sleep

Its one of those hotel, or call it motel, where it provides the bare basic necessities, a place just to pass and have a sleep for the night. Other than that the basic personal requirements are available but on a sharing basis where everyone renting a room will have to share all the amenities. Rooms are without the necessities like a cardboard and a decent large table for usage. No washroom in the room left alone chairs for the guests. Its just good for the hikers who just need a roof for the night, but be prepared to the disturbing noises from other rooms upstairs and connecting ones as a sound sleep is practically impossible. Only consolation is that this place being situated in Georgetown, a U-Nesco Heritage town in Penang, the place around has abundant of stalls and shops where foods are aplenty, personal things can be bought and purchased without any difficulties. Consider to be the last resort if left without any better hotel rooms in town. Remember that the charges are also quite expensive when compares to other three or four starred hotel rooms.

I've booked a double room with private bathroom via Booking, but when I arrived, the room had a shared bathroom (on the app it specifically said it has a private bathroom). At the reception I've been told that the double rooms don't have a private bathroom and that what is on Booking is different than what they have. Which is not an excuse, as if I knew, I would've booked at another place entirely. They said there's nothing they can do and it was paid in advance, so I could not get a refund either. This seems to be an old problem which they don't seem to care about, even though they are lying the customers and charging for facilities they don't provide.

Good location, very thin walls so it was very noisy until like 0:30 were we finally got abit rest and staff didn't warn us about this, he should have told all guests to walk quietly in on the 2nd floor but didn't so kids wee running around and some people step really firmly and smack the doors hard. I would not suggest any to stay here unless you have a easy time falling asleep with noise.

Overall good service, good location and really suitable for travellers. Only the thing is the rooms are not cleaned enough... spider webs are everywhere and there is a ton of dust on the bed.

Place itself is ok with common areas and super nice painted walls there, BUT bunk beds super shaky, if you’re sleeping up it’s kinda loud if you move. No proper windows, so it’s quiet noisy. Staff was super unfriendly in the end. My Birkenstocks got stolen and even if they had cameras nobody was willing to help which was weird. Also we got told food is 5RM and in the end we had to pay 10RM Would stay somewhere else if i have the chance, but also not the worse place to stay

DON'T STAY AT THIS PLACE! We stayed here 4 nights. Everything was fine till we left. We payed our bill directly in the beginning in cash. What we didn't know was that the also charged my credit card after we left. Every try to contact them on email or call failed. As I finally menaged to call the boss there he promises to send me a mail but nothing happens. They don't answer the emails and don't give back the money. So all I can say is avoid this place.

A clean, nice guest house in Georgetown. We got the room with a private bathroom (a toilet & a shower). Place was clean. When we got in, we realize the bulb in the shower was faulty. Informed the guy at the check in counter & it got fixed promptly. You can refill your water bottles & there’s free biscuits too. Love the decoration as well. Feels cozy in here.

Had our 2 nights stay here. Staff was super friendly and Mr Lee (i think, couldnt catch his name properly) was super helpful. We actually booked last minute for the trip and forgot the last check in time was at 10pm but reach at 12am. He patiently waited for us and gave his mobile number to call once we reach. The room was quite comfortable for 3 of us. Aircond was too cold but we cant switch it off due to no fans in the room. Scared dont hv proper ventilation and we are too sleepy to swicth on and off. The decoration and arrangement of the guest house was nice and awesome. You can get a lot of ootd picture inside the stay. But be aware that the toilet is a sharing toilet ( like a hostel / dorm ) u need to share with both male and female. It was properly clean everyday in the morning , but night time need to be extra careful and use the good toilet, hopefully can get improvement later. Plus the location is walking distance to Penang Street Art and makan2 place. Overall puas hati and recommended. Thank you 👍🏼

The recep. didnt mention earlier that the toilet is outside is hard for me as a hijabist and my daughter, no tv in the room just very basic facilities, queen bed, a bit noisy sound on upstair, people walking, up down stair. My room is C8, so better ask and look around the room first

Pros: Friendly staff, convenient location Cons: Spider is found near the room window. Bed frame is steel type so after ages it were loose & when you flip during the sleep it will give you shaking steel sound. No curtain for sunblock so natural light will wake u up at 8am Shared bathroom is clean & it comes with free Wi-Fi within the premises. Please bare in mind that their last check-in is 9pm. Check-out process is easy If it's just stay for a night or two, can come for it.

Cheap room, nice atmosphere. Could be a bit cleaner but definitely worth for the price in such a central location

Mixed bag in terms of the staff, the daily workers (cleaners etc) are all very nice but the lady at the front desk wasn't very helpful, or seem too keen to help. Walls are paper thin of all the rooms... So any louder visitors can be heard all night long. There's supposed to be a noise curfew but people don't seem to respect it, but I guess that's more of a clientele issue!

pros: friendly receptionist. nice guesthouse. beautifully decorated. clean shared bathrooms. ample amenities cons: the room I was staying is not soundproof. I can hear it when the next room talks. I’m a light sleeper so it’s a bummer. the room was not spotless. I found hairs on the bed and some rubbish under the bed. overall experience: I enjoyed my stay!

Stayed for 2 nights in a private room with bathroom. Room space is not bad and has enough room to move around. Bed and floor was clean but dun look up. The ceiling in the bathroom are spotted with with bugs or such. The lock for the door was totally loose and was about to fall off. I tighten the screws with my key and was better. The place is rather nicely decorated. And give a nice feel. Breakfast is choice of 2 set meals. Was ok but start only after 8am. Served in a cafe across the small road. The spirit of the place as with many are the people. Friendly and helpful.

Nice place to stay under budget. Clean and cozy. But it is better to book ahead on peak season. Staff is friendly. As for me it is so convenience because it have hot showers, air conditioning, clothes iron and few boards games and reading materials. Also you'll meet many new friends from different side of the world.

just arrived. after eating at restaurant right after a small hike from bus terminal. grabbed a car over to Kimberly hotel. walked a mile-ish and found a guy who dropped me here with a motorbike. 👍. ribs are clean and place is pretty. not short of Penang vibes.

Nice hostel with clean mattress. Bathrooms can be better. They do have AC shut down time in the afternoon so if you want to stay back, it's impossible to sleep in your dorm. Good location and good staff.

We were in a room with bunk bed just above the reception. We could hear everything form the reception including the music that played all day, phone calls ect. We also could hear everything from the rooms next to us. Every night people got back to the Hostel drunk making a lot of noise and blasting music for hours. There is no one of the staff at night to oversee this. The room was far from clean just like the showers. The bunk bed was full of dust and the floor of the showers had a lot of dirt. When we arrived the man behind the desk was not very friendly and helpful. They do have a nice common area across the street were you can have breakfast in the morning or a cold beer in the evening. The whole place looks like it has seen better days. Maybe die to covid that it is in somewhat poor condition. I think it can be awesome.

George Town is a really beautiful city and we had a really nice time staying at the hostel. The stuff is so nice and really understanding. They will help you easily if you need recommendations or help. We also met so many cool people in this hostel. It feels really homie and Comfy to stay at. The hostel is great to chill and relax and don't have to worry. It's also really close to the beach, street art and places to eat or drink.
