Overpriced for what you get Stopped by for a chill late lunch in the arvo, lucky the oysters were freshly shucked to order so delicious, but still a bit steep at $36 for 6. Cocktails were good but took a while to come, also at least $25 each. Definitely got a look-up-and-down as I asked for a table, which was surprising as obviously most people will have spent the day at the beach, and I had changed/freshened up. I can't help but think that the prices are hiked up just to avoid the backpacker crowd. Overall nice vibe to sit on the balcony, out of the hustle of the main street, but I'd go somewhere else next time. Spanish waitress was lovely

We had a great experience with the food being better than I expected. We got some fish tacos to share, the grilled chicken and the 'best fish and chips'. Everything was super fresh and tasty all with a great view and vibe. The perfect way to start our Byron trip.

I walked up the stairs onto the balcony. It is indeed a balcony. There is also a bar. The name is very telling. Although we didn't get oysters. The waiter at my table was fantastic; people of the world, take notes from her on how to be a nice happy person. I enjoyed the feeling of looking down on everyone else at Byron. Short people should flock here so they can experience being taller than the general population. The food was good, good job chef, keep trying.

Quite underwhelming. Apart from location there's not much going on here. Pub food for the price of fine dinning is a bit questionable.

We had a weekend away celebrating my husbands 40th birthday and decided to come here for dinner and afternoon drinks after reading the reviews for the Balcony Bar and Oyster Co. The food was so delicious, the cocktails yummy and the service impeccable. Would highly recommend visiting next time you’re in the lovely Byron Bay. We will definitely be back.

Lovely food, but service was quite slow. From seating us (we had a reservation), to even getting someone’s attention to take our order, and then our food took about 30 min to arrive- our waitress apologized twice for the delay. We had the flash fried prawns as an entree - so good! I got the spiced chicken which was a bit on the pink side but did taste divine. My partner has the pork which was delicious. Overall tasty food but could improve on service - and it wasn’t even a very busy (Tuesday night, last booking).

I regret to say that our recent visit to this restaurant left much to be desired. We went for drinks, but there was a clear lack of service. Not only did we not receive water, but another table that arrived after us got served promptly. When we attempted to get the attention of three different waiters, their responses were dismissive, and one of the waitress’ demeanor made it seem like she had no interest in serving us.

It’s been a while since I visited The Balcony and I was very impressed to see the service and food had improved. We had the most kind and helpful waiter, Chaddy. The food was delicious and arrived hot and fresh. We were super impressed with the food, drinks and service from everyone. I. Any wait to come back.

We had a fantastic dining experience at The Balcony Bar & Oyster Co. The service was excellent, and the food was outstanding, especially the oysters. Our meal arrived promptly and was incredibly fresh. The ambience of the restaurant was delightful, and what I appreciated most was that it was a kid-friendly place. They provided crayons and colouring materials to keep the little ones entertained. Overall, it was a memorable visit, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Relax and chill atmosphere, very delicious seafoods. Especially the sauce for the fried calamari was so good.

Asline was amazing she couldn’t be more helpful or bubbly. She went above and beyond for our Hens night in the private dining room. She deserves a pay rise. Would definitely come again especially if we could have Asline serve us again . Well done

Great location, chilled vibes however it was ruined by the horrible wait times. Waited for Lord knows how long before someone finally attended to us. Similar experience when waiting to order food

We came in for dinner on Wednesday evening. We were greeted by gorgeous Host Isa who sat us at a comfy lounge. Service was friendly and efficient. We were looked after by Jan who was an absolute legend. The cocktails were delicious and the wine menu extensive. The food was incredible. Seafood really fresh and yummy. The flavours in each dish well balanced. We stayed for extra cocktails after our meal enjoying the vibe. Will definitely be back.

Many reasons as to why such a high rating for me on this place, firstly our first night didn’t go as planned sadly so I sent a message on their internal review site. I’m so glad I did as the turn around and understanding was so professional and smooth. First we were contacted with apologies followed with a please come and try again so we can rectify what happened. So so glad we did, this just highlights that all businesses can have a down night or a bumpy moment. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves, the oysters were perfect, cocktails as always a treat and the location and service was fun and comfortable. So glad we had another try and bingo first experience now wiped from the memory and in its place is a super fun evening. A very well managed business with a strong customer focus.

We had been planning to visit here for years but never made it, however we made an effort for a special occasion. The staff were very friendly but clearly maxed out, it wasn't full but everyone seemed frazzled which was quite uncomfortable. We ordered the bread to start, $10 for a few bits of cold sourdough and olive oil was a bit rich, give a little more bread and warm it could be a better idea. One of our main meals came with our starter, we pointed it out to the man the brought it and he said, well it's all coming out now; that wasn't true. The swordfish was good as was the pasta, however the steak and the calamari were not good. The steak was extremely spicy with cold chips and the calamari was soaking in oil and had a weird aftertaste. The lady who looked after us tried very hard to make our evening good but she was so busy. We were never asked if we wanted any more drinks or dessert so we paid and left. Probably won't go back.

A great lunch meal with fresh salads and king prawn cocktail. The greens salad was exactly what I was looking for on such a hot day in Byron Bay.

The food and drinks definitely holds this place up. The oysters from coffin bay are the best we have ever had. Drinks are spot on too. The only downside is the staff aren’t eager to please at all. If you try to call them over to order they acknowledge you and smile as if you are saying hello which makes no sense in a service environment. We came twice in a weekend as the food was wonderful however lots of unavailable items on the menu which they don’t advise you of until you go to order. We asked to be re-seated in the sun only to be told the table was for more than two people and 5mins later a staff member took the spot alone for her break and stayed the entire time we remained. Very quiet in Byron at the moment you would think they would attempt at getting customers comfortable and staying longer.

Holy smokes. I've been coming here every couple of years for 17 years. It's been a little while but we just came and had one of the best meals we've ever had. Yes it's more expensive but the food has never ever been of this calibre. The portions were generous and the kids were happy. Definitely worth the price, and that is saying something. Every meal we ordered was different and amazing. The Bug linguini, the ocean trout, the popcorn cauliflower were huge standouts. Usually ocean trout is dry with average sauce. Their trout was juicy and I've never had a such a perfect sauce to accompany the trout (with amazing wrapped ginger and bonito flakes!). We had to order bread to mop up the amazing sauces. The service was some of the best ever. Isa and Maggie were on it! Such attentive and accommodating people. Can't recommend enough. I hope the chefs stay forever.

A beautiful venue that looks over the main street. We attended when they had Drag and Dine, which was great fun. Food and cocktails are expensive but expected being in the middle of the Byron main strip. Seafood was delicious however steak was not great, given the pricing. Staff were friendly and accommodating!

The first time I came here with a friend we were seated and forgetten about. Our waitress went to lunch without putting our order in to the kitchen. 12 months later I decided to give it another try. Service is still slow despite the place not being busy on the day I was there. I ordered a wine which never came . I ask a passing waitress to follow it up. The food was ok. The linguine was a lot of oil and pasta and not much else once I scooped the meat out of the Bugs which absolutely didn't taste fresh. No one asked if I wanted another wine or dessert. The setting is great but the service and so so food let this place down.

Relaxed vibe with great food. Our group had 8 people and most of our drinks and meals arrived at the same time. Well priced since the food is unique and delicious.

The baked oysters and garlic butter prawns were incredible and the white fish main with greens was delicious 🤤 our waitress was so lovely and had some great recommendations. The live music was also a great touch and the musician was amazing. Would recommend and will definitely be back!!

Stars have been deducted as the first order of drinks was forgotten, we had to ask to be served for our lunch order and the final order of drinks arrived as we were about to leave. It wasn't extremely busy but the wait team seemed disorganised. The food was great!!

Loved this restaurant! It was a very beautiful atmosphere sitting upstairs on the balcony and looking out over the town of Byron. I went there for a few drinks and got some entrees. A little expensive but worth it. The quality of food was delicious and they had the best cocktail jug I have had - Ruby Rogue I believe it was called. So amazing and had like 6 drinks in it. The staff were very lovely and at tentative. Would definitely go back again!

Really beautiful place, eating on the balcony is a must! Love the ambiance and the plants everywhere, it gives it a nice vibe. The food was also very good, we had a bit of everything. The service was amazing, we had a birthday and they were kind to find a sparkler to put on the chocolate mousse.

Not only is the food and happy hour fantastic, but the staff is so warm and accommodating that they make the experience, especially Monica! My friends and I had a great time and I definitely recommend coming for sunset!

Great restaurant tucked up on the balcony (surprise!) in downtown Byron. The ambiance is very cool and our food and drinks were great. They get busy even on Mondays so make a reservation or go early for happy hour. We got the fish and chips and zucchini pasta. Both delicious.

The oysters Kirkpatrick were amongst the best I ever had (Kirkpatrick style) altho a bit expensive. The fish tacos were also nice. The burata tomato salad was really quite bland. Service was friendly but a bit slow. They did apologise. Cocktail was quite ordinary too.
