I made our wedding lunch booking in July and requested a nice table. Received a table in the middle of the room - so disappointing!!! A very nice couple gave us their table, they commented because it was our wedding day we ‘should have a nice table’ which was on the lounge and had views. Two stars for the food, the service was beyond terrible and so unfriendly - drinks weren’t even poured, massive gaps in between food for three courses; I guess this is where they want people to spend $$$$ on drinks! Totally OVERRATED and would NEVER EVER recommend to anyone!!!

Review on Raes Dinning room only: From the moment we walked in, the staff was very welcoming and professional. The food was incredible we especially loved the oysters, the tuna, the duck & the steak. Great location obviously and great view. Can't wait to come back to Byron just for Raes.

We stayed elsewhere in Wategos but had coffee every morning from Raes, and dinner on the last night. We had the five course tasting menu which was delicious. The spanner crab and tomato tagliolini were my favourite. Didn’t particularly rate the market fish, but others did so very likely just preference.

Dinner at Raes last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. A very special experience - ambience, decor, views, great service and the food was really exquisite. Every course including desserts were incredible. Yes it's pricey but as a special treat I can highly recommend! Great job team!

A wonderful place to eat couldn't recommend Raes on Watego more highly . The food was amazing hats of to the chefs . . Such a high standard of service from Francesco who was more than engaging . You made our family's night a lovely one . If you are in Byron Bay do not miss this place .

Had an amazing birthday lunch here. We had the tasting menu and my partner had the vego tasting menu. The staff were so accomodating and wonderful. Leaving the wine choices up to Millie our waitress was a great choice. She gave us first class service and some great wines. Also a shout out to the lovely French/Spanish male waiter for some great recommendations for our upcoming European trip. As for the food it was incredible. Everything was delicious and great size portions. Would recommend. Give yourself a few hours for the tasting menu. Will be back

The Restaurant food was totally underwhelming yet the price was the opposite, quite overwhelming. The service was very good as was the ambiance but the quantum of the bill made tipping absurd. Like so many of Byron Bays businesses these post Covid days, Raes is merely a Real Estate play masquerading as a serious restaurant. I'll not bother going back but rather bring fish and chips to the park in front.

We loved our dinner at Raes! A friend recommended the restaurant as a must while we were in Byron and were not disappointed. Fantastic food, great vibes and great service. We felt so welcome and well looked after. We will be back!.

The food was good considering it's a venue capitalising mostly on location. The service seemed unhurried. Each course was detailed by our server, who oddly seemed willing only to communicate with my husband. I was also told one of the cocktails would be "too strong for me" without any request for advice. Odd service but an overall nice experience given the location.

Do not get coffee from the van. Good service - but actually the worst tasting coffee I’ve ever had. Also had ‘dinner’ at the cellar bar and left after I received a $30 cold lobster roll the size of my middle finger. They need to reassess their prices and quality of food ASAP

Last day in Byron and went to Rae’s for lunch. The quality, taste and presentation of each course were great. There were three of us so we shared dishes so we could all try something different! Highly recommend to order the snacks to start off the meal

We only stopped and had a drink at Raes, as we were walking by. Both were refreshing. One was much tastier than the other. The view is beautiful, and the food menu looked interesting. Yet after only one of the drinks being tasty, we chose not to dine. At this price point, you expect to be blown away in a good way. Doesn't mean we won't be back one day, menu's can change with time after all!

I booked Raes for a birthday lunch for my wife. We had a 2:15pm sitting which allowed ample time for a surf and Beach day at Wategos. We were warmly greeted on arrival and had a great time. Our meals were promptly served and well put together. We plan to bring our friends next time, thanks for having us

5/5 for the Tasting Menu, matched beverages was a good choice however felt like $90 was a bit steep for the 3 small mouthfuls of wine you get per person. Initial waitress was more interested looking out into the ocean at the Dolphins and not taking our initial order correctly, received our 1st meal with no matched wine had to chase them up. THANKFULLY the waitress assigned to us for the rest of the night was amazing and very attentive. Overall would recommend however I feel like Customer Service needs to be worked out which seems to be a reoccurring comment with other reviews.

After many fabulous dining experiences, my wife and I finally booked a stay at the hotel for our anniversary. DAMN. This is by far the best service we've experienced at any boutique hotel in Australia. With only seven rooms, you feel like you're essentially in your own private villa, with staff who are simultaneously casual yet elegant in their approach. The GM Marty has absolutely outdone himself. Bravo team. Can't wait to return. Hot tip: Suite 4 is right on the pool with a cabana out front.

Rae’s was beautiful! One of our servers had only been there a week and she was incredible and described the food brilliantly. The ambiance is amazing at night time, the best dishes I’ve ever had - can’t wait to go back.

A few friends and I dined at the Cellar Bar over the long weekend. It was an amazing location with a relaxed but premium feel to the venue and decor. Food was delicious and fresh and the drinks were delicious with a wonderful wine list. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. If visit the Cellar Bar and are lucky enough to be served by Ali you are in for a treat. Ali was kind, professional, friendly and her service was the best we've had for a very long time in many different hospitality experiences.

Beyond terrible customer service from your restaurant manager, Román. My partner has very restrictive allergies which he nor I are willing to risk. The manager handled it very very poorly and made us feel as though we inconvenienced him and his staff because there was only 1 of us eating. He made it known that he wasn’t going to make as much money from us because only 1 person was eating and drinking. We offered to leave, and was threatened that he would have to charge us a cancellation fee, even though we arrived on time and one of us was going to eat and drink. We acknowledge that we should have made the booking for only 1 person and 1 as company- regardless the way he handled the situation was appalling and no one like him should be in the customer service industry. I would suggest that the he has a complete attitude check. To feel bullied and uncomfortable at a high end restaurant is disgusting…. On the other hand, our waitress was amazing and the food was incredible. Your restaurant is only as good as your worst staff member, and unfortunately it’s a new level of low.

What an amazing incredible lunch, we had the 3 course meal at this beautiful restaurant. One of the best meals I have ever had. Outstanding service, hot men serving us, what more could one want. Thanks so much Raes at Wategos Byron Bay, we will definitely be returning again

Wonderful creative food menu and a very extensive wine list. The waiters ALL knew their menu inside out and explained the ingredients well. Just a few things which need attention however given this is “supposedly “ a five star restaurant. A few of our dining companions had their meals served on chipped plates which is not only unsightly but actually a hygiene issue. Secondly the tables were plastic with no tablecloths . This seemed somewhat second grade. And one of the waiters actually served drinks across in front of some diners instead of going around behind and serving from the side. (There was room) . For a top class restaurant these things need to be addressed , especially as everything else is/was first class. Would we go again? Probably, but not in a hurry.

Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the view was nice, the wine was good and the staff were friendly. The food was terrible. If you are vegan I would not recommend eating here at all. My friend and I paid $500 for some very bland, sliced turnip as a starter. The main was a couple of pieces of broccoli cooked in oil with some almond slices on top. And one scoop of very average ice cream for dessert. Whaaaat the🙈 I ate here last year and remember the vegan food was amazing. I'm not sure why but Rae's has really gone downhill. Pick up your game! It's disgusting to charge that amount for two bland vegetables and a scoop of ice cream. Will not be back.

Classic food with some twist very very well made. I think that the price is perfect for what you get. Wine list is great as well (but too much for me). Service top! One of the best in Byron to splurge for sure.

My Wife and I recently choose Raes as our wedding venue! We could not have picked a better venue! The hotel, the restaurant, the food, the staff, everything was perfect. The level of service was outstanding and up there with the best I have experienced anywhere. No ask was to big and the entire experience was relaxing! We stayed at Raes for 3 nights and had the best time. Absolute 5 Star service and hard to beat in Australia.

Review on Raes on Wategos restaurant: I booked a dinner reservation for my partner’s birthday and had requested a nice table. They gave us the corner table with the view of the beach, arguably the best seats in the place!! From the moment we walked in, the staff we so welcoming and professional, warm and friendly. The food was incredible, one of the best meals we’ve had. A special thank you to the server (sorry we didn’t catch his name, but he’s the one with the arm tattoos) who was just wonderful and even sang my partner “Happy Birthday”. Cannot recommend Raes more. We will definitely come back next time we’re in Byron.

I’ve been wanting to dine at Rae’s for many years. I finally got there for my 44th birthday. It’s the most amazing structure in a superb location. The staff are wonderful. I was however disappointed with the food.

Visited the dinning room and had an amazing and delightful experience. Our waiter Jason was the best, as iconic as the venue itself. The tasting menu is a must!

Always buonissimo 🤌 Kind of upset that the summer menu for downstairs wasn’t as good as earlier in the year (no bug rolls 🥲). But the fresh finger lime oysters and strong cocktails made up for it. Oh and the vinegar salt fries are not to be missed. Followed by a sunset swim at Wategos.

My partner and I had the most special dinner here. The atmosphere, food and customer service was top notch and the mocktails actually tasted like cocktails which was an additional plus for two non-drinkers. My personal highlights were the Yellowfin tuna crudo and Raecher. The staff were super friendly and professional. Worth the hype and definitely must visit. Will be back again :)

Stayed nearby this break in Byron and throughly enjoined a few dinners and bar visits. Staff amazing. Really enjoyed the meals and wine pairings. Within an amazing setting the staff make everyone feel welcome and at home.

The qaulity of service you get from the staff at Rae's is a 6 star service. Everyone that works at the hotel is accommodating, friendly and very professional. If they don't have something I can assure you they will go above and beyond to make it happen. The food was delicious, fresh and served with a smile. The fit out in the rooms is a Spanish mission theme that makes you feel super relaxed. Might also add that it's very convenient having the beach 1min away from your room Wish we stayed longer. Thanks to the team and we can't Thankyou enough for the time that we stayed

Had a lovely dinner here! Food was delicious, had the set menu with matched wines and everything was great. The wines were really interesting and went well with each dish. Service was great as well!
