Overrated (at least the Gypsy Villa is). The sliding glass doors didn’t lock (with the internal latch or keys), the outdoor tiles outside the Gypsy Villa needed a cleaning via high pressure watering cleaning BADLY. The beach access should be de-emphasised as significant erosion on Belongil Beach meant that the path to the beach ends with a 2 metre drop onto the sand. In other words, you could not walk straight onto the beach despite it being almost at your doorstep. Obviously this not the venue’s fault, but it’s proximity to the beach is rendered redundant when you need to walk around to the neighbouring caravan park to access the beach. Also, charging extra per day (although optional) for a daily room cleaning is astonishing. For the prices that are charged here, the room being made up should be included. The pool area was also ridden with leaves. Although towards the end of the stay, they put the cleaning robot in the pool. Nevertheless, this should be done daily. The outdoor tiles surrounding the pool also needed a solid cleaning. Also, the bathroom was very cramp. The shower door opening onto the tap inside the shower was not an architecturally wise choice. Besides that, very cute premises. The undercover parking and coded access front and back was very nice. This security was reassuring when the villa doors didn’t lock.. The bed was comfy, loved the dimmer on the lights, the room was so clean when we arrived, the tea and coffee inclusions were nice, and the Balinese bath was so relaxing. Would return if daily room cleaning was included, the doors locked, and the Byron shire council restored the path to the beach. .

We stayed in April Sun, described on their website as a luxury villa. This "luxury villa" is a 6m x 6m bungalow at best. There's no real separate sitting or lounge space. The fittings and fixtures are pretty ordinary, the "well stocked kitchenette" is a sink with a tacky benchtop hotplate and equally tacky dishes. Don't use the bathroom in the middle of the night and turn the light on. The stiff sliding translucent doors will light up the bedroom like a Xmas tree. And the shower screen leaks. And, for what you pay, you discover that the "villa" doesn't get serviced unless you pay extra for the privilege. It's okay as an ordinary room but the "luxury villa" tag is seriously misleading.

Perfect for wedding accommodation! Cavvanbah offered exactly what they promised. All our guests were really comfortable. The wedding went really smoothly due to the accommodation being very near to the wedding location.

Homely feel!! Booked for my cousin’s wedding. The rooms were spacious and easily accommodated our 12 guests. Everything was well-maintained, felt like we were at home.

A wonderful villa with elegant architecture. Nice pool to relax in and literally steps away from the beach. We came here post-pandemic during summer to have a relaxing weekend. Would like to come back again and would recommend - 5 stars.

Amazing boutique accommodation. My partner and I had a beautiful, romantic escape when we stayed here. The owner was very friendly and helpful, yet our privacy was completely maintained. The location is wonderful, just a stroll to anywhere in Byron and the sound of the surf was easily enough to let us drift away in the tranquility of the uber lush surrounds. We can't wait to go back. Thanks.

Lovely place. However, they took months to get an invoice back for a broken glass pane which should not cost too much (Reference is two tradesman), and charged us our entire $1000 bond for it. Now refuse to explain how the invoice amounted to $1000 and won't give us the contact details of the people who did the job. Disappointing.

This negative review is unfortunately for communication concerns. I have been attempting to contact for the past 5 days regarding issue with accommodation operated by the Cavvanbah admin team that I stayed in last weekend, however despite emails and phone calls (voice message), I have received no communication back to date (have spoken to housekeeping team, it is not an issue they can help resolve). I ask only to be able to speak so we can discuss and hopefully resolve the issue, but given I have had no communication it is unfortunate I am needing to leave this negative review. It is my hope that the Cavvanbah admin team will contact me back.

A complete package!! Overall satisfied with all the amenities like pool, full-size functional kitchen, tv, outdoor bath…. and the list goes on. Not to mention, the walking distance to all the main attractions is a major convenience. No doubt, you guys deserve 5 stars!! Keep it up!

Cavvanbah is an amazing place to stay for a relaxing time in Byron Bay. The rooms was modern, with everything you need, beautifully decorated and just perfect. There was an amazing sense of privacy and it definitely felt more like a holiday home than anything else. It was perfectly situated near the beach, and only a short walk from town, which was great as it was away from the hustle and bustle of everybody else.

The place is very conveniently located within walking distances to the main street, or you can walk along the beach to get to town. The complex was very quiet regardless of other guests staying in the other villas. Beach is so close, just out the back gate over the train line and through a little bush track. Thanks for the lovely stay.

Beware of this place. No refunds are provided when people are not able to travel due to the state being in lockdown. Don’t risk wasting your money.

Cavvanbah will always be a place I'll hold close to my heart as it was where my husband and I stayed for our honeymoon October 2020. We felt like we were in our own little sanctuary. The bed was very comfortable, the TV was awesome and everything was immaculately clean! We arrived a little later, after long hours of driving that day. As soon as we got to our villa, I instantly felt relaxed and calm (which is not always the case when I arrive at a new place). The room lighting was super impressive. I loved being able to adjust the lights to a softer dim. I hate "hospital-type lighting", that I've experienced in some hotel rooms. But after a long day, it was amazing to turn the lights right down but not completely off, and relax in the outdoor Bali bath! The greenery and plants surrounding us were just gorgeous!! I loved soaking in the Bali bath and looking up at the tropical leaves and blue sky. My husband and I loved how everything was walking distance. Stepping on the beach from our villa took seconds!! We prefer walking over driving, so being able to walk to town for breakfast was so lovely. My first experience in Byron Bay was unforgettable, thanks to the staff at Cavvanbah! I would recommend this place to everyone! I Cannot wait to stay again! Jenna Timperley

Great Beach Houses and Villas in a great tucked away resort. Accommodated us well. Quite surprised we never knew about Cavvanbah as we have been Byron Bay regulars for years. Thanks for having us.

We had the most disappointing experience with this property. We were so excited to book a much needed 7 night getaway without our children, over the Easter Period in 2021 (4 public holiday nights and 3 nights in school holidays). Unfortunately however we were prevented from travelling, due to a COVID outbreak the week before, in both Brisbane and Byron Bay and the QLD Govt implementing a mandatory lockdown. The booking with Cavvanbah was originally booked through AirBnB for $3894 and we initially were advised by Cavvanbah that they would kindly give us 12months to use our booking, as it was completely out of our control that we were unable to travel. However, when we attempted to rebook our 7 night stay for October 2021, (1 public holiday night , 3 school holiday nights and 3 nights outside of school holidays) we were advised that we could only get 3 nights for the same price and that our credit was ONLY $3251.49 (the difference of $597.51 being the commission that Cavvanbah had to pay AirBnb!) and that IN ADDITION we would have to outlay an additional $100 rebooking fee. Once again however there was a COVID outbreak and the BluesFest, which we also had tickets for, was once again postponed, so we did not book this period and decided to wait until the following Easter in 2022 when the BluesFest was rescheduled to. Once again in February this year, we attempted to utilise our credit with Cavvanbah for this period. As we are very time poor with 4 children and we run our own business', we requested to be able to break the booking into two small bookings of 3 or 4 nights, only to be advised we could not do this. Therefore we requested to book 6 nights (5 nights in school holidays and 1 public holiday night being Good Friday). The cost of these dates was $3360.($534 less than our original booking and an additional $108.51 on our ADVISED LESSER credit amount of $3251.49!) The first 4 nights of this requested stay there was a 3 night minimum but the 5 & 6th nights lead into 7 night minimum booking period. Therefore we were advised by Cavvanbah that we could not book the 6 night stay to utilise our credit, we HAD to book 7 nights and the difference due would be $108.51 as per above + $795 for the additional 7th night (double or triple their low season rate!! + $100 rebooking fee = an additional $1003.51!!!!) Due to work and children commitments we simply could not stay an additional night and we did not feel we should have to pay an additional $1003.51 to stay 6 nights when 1. our credit should have been worth $3894 and 2. that only the last two requested nights fell into the 7 night minimum booking period! In addition to the inflexibility regarding rebooking and using a service we had already paid a substantial amount of money for, the service we received was disgraceful. Our emails were not responded to on several occasions for over 2-3weeks and we had to continually chase them for an answer; when we tried to rebook this year we were advised that they had no details of our credit or that they thought we had utilised it already; emails were not personally signed by the person we were dealing with; and most of all the tone and language used within the emails was rude and disrespectful: Quote "You have been abundantly and repeatedly responded too. Our generosity of offering you a credit and extending the time for you to use that credit has proven to be administratively frustrating and taking up too much time. We will no longer be responding to your emails.." We will never ever recommend this accommodation and believe that charging $800per night in peak season (refer to Dec 2022 rates) vs $265 per night in low season, for exactly the same room is disgraceful and not the way to recoup lost revenue, due to the same natural disasters ie COVID which everyone has been affected by and FLOODS which we were also personally impacted by as we live in Paddington Brisbane.

We stayed here for 4 nights in October and loved it! The location was a 5 minute walk to the main strip (restaurants and bars, shops) and 2 minute walk to the beach (back door entrance from plunge pool). The villa had all european appliances including fridge with water filter and washer and dryer which we made use of. The outdoor shower was handy as there was 3 of us staying. Thes instructions to check into the villa were clear and easy to follow, have already recommended to friends and family and would book again.
