Says it is open, when it is temporary closed until 6th November 2023. Updating Google is a basic requirement for a tourist site. I have sent an update to Google to temporarily close it. Their website does not clearly provide this information.

The tours here last about 45 minutes. While there is no admission fee, you *DO* need to reserve a ticket, since tour group-size is limited. Here you will see Gadir (Cádiz) in situ from the time it was colonized by the Phoenicians, through the Roman period. The building houses a beautifully preserved space, with translucent walkways over the ruins. Different-colored gravels distinguish between Phoenician and Roman structures. A multimedia presentation at the beginning lends a wonderful overview to the space throughout its history. There are even skeletal remains of an unfortunate that was overcome by smoke during a fire some 2,800 years ago. The tour guide we had spoke wonderful English, was VERY knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. Kudos to her! The only reason for losing a star: apparently in very recent history, lightning knocked out the air conditioner and dehumidifier for a while... this has led to some very musty odors at one end of the site, that made it difficult for us to breathe without covering our noses. This site is definitely worth a visit!

Tickets need to be booked in advance, these are free. Times differ if you require a guided tour in English. Our guide Laura was excellent, good English and very enthusiastic about the ruins that lay beneath the theatre, steps down to the glass walkways and viewing areas. Amazing piece of history.

The archaeology was very cool but the presentation/information to accompany it was very poor. The panels barely contained any information especially when I compare it with my visit to the Roman Theatre just a few streets over. Very little information about the limited capacity and that we would need tickets (free entry though). The video at the start was in spanish with german subtitles and we received no information if we should come back for any english. Thankfully my friend is spanish and was able to translate any bits that I did not pick up myself (I can understand bits of Spanish). The guide also asked us very strictly that when my friend was translating for us to be very quiet, we had been very quiet and waited to translate where there was no one else talking and she did so in quiet whispers keeping it as brief as possible. Extremely disappointed in this museum. I would advise anyone who wants to visit to check the day before and enquire, there seemed to be very little information about the actual visit online.

Excellent presentation of Phoenician ruins excavated in Cadiz. Video is a bit schmaltzy but sets the scene. Information boards are very good and staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Tours take place hourly and are restricted to 25 people per time. If there are tickets free you can go straight in otherwise you must wait for the next vacancy. Although says opening hours in morning to 1pm there is a tour starting at that time You can get tickets in advance which is worthwhile although there are plenty of bars/restaurants very near in the Central Market. Expect video presentation and walk round to take approx 45 mins.

FOR FREE! Just come to special time (13.00, 16.00 or 19.00), because the entrance is in small groups. You need only 50 minutes to visit it, its really small! Great place to imagine yourself some tausends of years before! Its not a museum, but just some archaeologian excavations, so it will be interesting for EVERYBODY, also children! EVEN IF YOU FIND MUSEUMS BORING, YOU WILL BE HAPPY TO VISIT THIS PLACE! You will see the bones of the oldest cat in Europe!

Such a surprise to discover the well preserved remains of a civilisation 3000 years old, right under our feet. Definitely a highlight.

Very interesting place , they start off with a video explaining a little bit of the history it’s in Spanish but they have English subtitles. Full tour takes around 40 minutes. It is completely free you just have to be put onto the next available tour list.

Definitely worth a visit! Learn about Cadiz (Roman) = Gadir (Phoenicians). Beautifully displayed with an interesting video before. Get your Free tickets ahead. It’s air conditioned and there were very little people in our 5:00 pm showing. Enjoy !

Fantastic tour! Our guide, Laura, was absolutely delightful. It gave me great pleasure seeing how, as young as she was, she was so passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about everything. Faultless. We were lucky enough to have the tour in English too. For anyone looking for the site, it is under the theatre. So you need to walk half way up the ramp to the theatre where you will find a discrete ticket office.

A truly interesting museum which is an excavated street, houses and industrial buildings from Phoenician and Roman period (different layers). Well worth the visit (40-60min). The guides are incredibly informative both in Spanish and English.

I don't know how this experience doesn't have 5 stars all the way around. First it is free, and we were pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. Go here first before visiting all the rest to obtain a true understanding of the history.

The entrance is free, and they let you in once every hour. Inside they show you a short movie about the site, and then you're able to walk around. The guide was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Wonderful archaeological site under the city of Cadiz. The site is free and the guides are wonderful at answering questions. View an ancient Phoenician home, clay ovens, and Roman fish sauce vats built on top of the Phoenician dwelling.

Fun free museum to see Roman and Phoenician ruins under the city streets. Free to enter but you have to pick up tickets at the ticket booth ahead of time. I was there in December on a weekday and there were only three time slots (11:00/12:00/13:00). The ticket office opens at 10:45 so be there then if you want to have your choice of time slots.

It's free to enter. They will present you a cute video explaining the life of the Phoenician body they discovered on the site and then you will see the ruins. You will be having a very polite guide, that will explain to you everything. I loved this visit, I still can't believe that I did all of this for free. I would advise you to speak with them first because they have specific hours to do this visitations to the site.

Archeological site of Phoenician settlement (Gadir) - excellent film introduction on hi-res large screen which cleverly used police procedural dramatic form to explain the historical background. This was followed by walk around the small site on glass walkways. The guide was very good and was happy to spend plenty of time taking questions from us in English - also one of the archaeologists was on hand and was equally helpful. This was an object lesson in how to do a small museum.

One of the best guided archeological visits ever! The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the subject (she is probably a trained archeologist specialized on Phoenician and Roman history). It was like listening to a TED talk on Phoenician and Roman culture while visiting an archeological dig.

Great interesting place - tours available in multiple languages on the hour. You need to get tickets in advance from the box office. Fascinating place including the oldest known domestic cat in Europe.

If you come to Cadiz and don't go here then you have wasted your time and not learned the history of Cadiz. And it is free, not many better deals then that around.

Great exhibition, the video presentation before hand did a good job of explaining the site. Really interesting dig site. Zero cost. Half hour visit. Would absolutely recommend for anyone staying in Cadiz.

Really enjoyable. Visits are free but have to be booked as numbers limited. Tour starts with a "CSI Cadiz" type film about the site. You view the excavations from suspended walkways just above them. The information provided is good and the exhibits really interesting. Well worth a visit if you can arrange it.
