So beautiful! We did the hike from Boca to Las Animas on a Monday. This beach wasn’t too busy, but we’ve heard it’s packed on the weekends (it’s also tiny keep in mind) The hike itself is about 2.8 miles and took us an hour and 40 minutes from Boca to Las Animas. Starting at Boca you’ll be walking next to homes along the coast. It’s a little confusing but you’re going the right way if you stay against the coast. Wear water socks or good shoes for the hike as there are some precarious stairs to go up and down at different points. We took a water taxi back to PV from Las Animas for 1,300 pesos. Highly recommend the hike though if you’re fine with sweating a lot and getting some exercise. There’s three beaches along the way to dip in the water which will feel amazing when you’re so hot!

We hiked to this beautiful beach bring food and water and just say no to the guy from the coconut stand. He comes around trying to sell you snacks and coconuts for way too much and he’s also asking if you need a water taxi back to Boca for 100 pesos a person, the taxi charges 50. The taxi I got on said he doesn’t pick up anyone he arranges rides for because of what he’s doing. Just wait for a taxi when it shows up and make the payment to the taxi. The beach is small and it gets crowded in the afternoon. Oh there is a restaurant there it’s called ocean grill but no walk ins you have to make a reservation online ahead of time.

To be honest it's a fabulous beach! We were hiking from beach to beach through the mountains and all of them were epic!! It is a paradise, believe me!

Quiet from 10 to 11, there’s a vendor on the beach.. I highly suggest the hike from Cabo.. once you reach Los Colomitos.. keep hiking (the stairs are on the other side of the beach by the ocean) and head towards Los Caballos! Its was a very peaceful beach

Beautiful hike from Boca de Tomatlan. Takes about 30 minutes to get there. Highly recommended. Nice blue color of the sea. There is a rope you can swing on. Sandy beach with a restaurant. We had waves so you can't swim much. From there you can take a water taxi back or to other beaches. The water taxi can also be paid by card.

Pretty beach but very tiny and crowded with boats from boca de Tomatlán. DO NOT PAY MORE THAN 120 pesos each way from boca for a water taxi, this is what locals told us. These rats tried to charge 500 pesos for a 5 minute ride and if people keep paying that they will get away with it.

Loved it here! After a difficult hike we chilled out and had a bevage. Service was great but the drinks were truly amazing! Great little hideaway!

We went hiking from Boca to Las Animas and this was one of the most beautiful beaches we have seen on the way! Definitely a must do when in Puerto Vallarta. The hiking is not that easy though, but definitely worth it! We went on Friday midday and Colomitos beach was pretty empty, on the hiking trail we saw only other 4 people during the whole trip

We paid to take a water taxi here ($30 round trip) specifically because all the pictures and articles/reviews indicated that the water was super calm and clear and that it was fairly unpopulated, but when we went it was decently crowded and the waves were pretty big. I think we were just there at the wrong time of year/lunar cycle or something. The water was more brown and rough, and it wasn't super conducive to swimming or relaxing. It was fun to climb the rocks and explore, and there were little fish and crabs and barnacles to look at along the sides of the beach. There's a restaurant that offers food and drinks and wifi. Not sure about the quality or prices as we didn't order anything. It's fairly secluded, so there is almost no cell reception. Most of the time, my phone said that it could only make emergency calls.

Cute little beach cove. Lots of locals come here (always a good sign). We hiked here from Boca, took us about 35 mins, and we hiked back as well. The hike is not too strenuous, but there are some up and downs. No need for serious hiking shoes, but don't hike this in sandals (I did it comfortably in my Vans). Boats are coming in and out at the beach quite a bit - water taxis from Boca, but also party boats and snorkelling tours. This makes snorkeling/swimming a bit tougher with all the traffic. Takeaway: this beach is popular, so don't believe the hype that you can get a little undiscovered beach all to yourself... Nope, everyone knows about this place and is chasing the same thing. You will literally get more space to yourself on the beach along resort row in PV. None the less, it's the journey not the destination. Nice day of hiking. Cute little beach. There's a quaint little restaurant/bar there (not cheap though). Not a terrible way to spend a half day.

Came here during an overcast day and despite there not being a lot of sun, it was still a gorgeous beach! Calm water that is perfect for swimming, unlike the main beaches in Puerto Vallarta

You can arrive here by hiking/ walking from Boca de Tomatlan. Almost a private beach. There’s only one restaurant here. The color of the water is stunning!

Beautiful small beach but gets crowded with water taxis so it was a bit scary. We heard from several people that the snorkelling here is great. There’s a restaurant there with lots of seating but limited lounge chairs so get there early.

Lovely little beach that wasn't particularly crowded when we visited on a Sunday afternoon - probably only a maximum of about 30 others on the beach when we were there. Sea was calm, clear and had lots of nice fish in. There's a restaurant there and also an additional more rough and ready bar which only sold beer and coconuts (not any water). We walked from Boca which was a surprisingly tough walk - definitely take lots of water! That took about 40 minutes. Going back to Puerto Vallarta, I think we paid way more than we should have done for a water taxi at 1000 pesos for two people. But there didn't seem to be many taxis arriving or departing and it was getting quite late so went for it anyway. His original price was 2000 pesos so at least we got it down! We were the only ones in the taxi back and it was a pleasant journey so I didn't mind too much. That water taxi back took about 30 mins to the Zona Romantica.

Beautiful beach in a cove, a good resting place when hiking from Bocas Tomatlan to Las Animas. There is a new beach cafe (Paradise Colomito) now with umbrellas and chairs for rent. Getting too crowded with lots of people coming by boats. Kind of spoilt the charm of this ‘once hidden beach gem’. Still beautiful water and sand.

Great little, private beach. Does have a small bar with restrooms. Relax in paradise.

Very nice but gets crowded quickly and many boats coming and going, not cool while swimming cause they don't even look and could be dangerous.

Love it , this a little beautiful beach where you can relax your self and enjoy the nature and the view Very worth it doing the walking around the hill to get to the cove

The hike to get to the beach is quite treacherous and far more strenuous than excepted. The beach is nice, but the water was dirty during our visit. I recommend taking a panga to other nearby beaches from Boca de Tomatlan.

The long hike is not worth it for this very small beach with dirty ocean water 🥲 At least is not for me. But, go for yourself and find out 😂

Too many people and only you can get there by boat or hiking.

Beautiful coloured water but absolutely packed full of people and not much room. Save yourself for the other beaches up the hike.

This was the first stop on our hike to from Boca de Tomatlan to Los Animes Beach. It is a small but beautiful beach that is also home to a lovely little appointment only restaurant. We did not spend much time at this beach as we still had a good distance to hike. We came back a second time to enjoy Ocen Grill.

👍👍 Nice day trip. Just check the boat taxi price. (Boca to Quimixto) First quote we got was 1000 pesos round trip for 2 persons. Second quote was 500. We found out later that the standard price is 200$ Round trip for 2 person. It’s not the amount- it’s the fact that they will just try to make you...
