Me & Toby stopped here after a walk to the river , was made very welcome by the waitress Angel , he loved his pigs in blankets and bowl of water 🤠🐶

Food was good. Queue to get food was far too long. Staff were more focused on gathering the take away meals than serving the 30 plus people waiting in front of them.

Initial greeting and being shown to the table was fine. My guests, 1 chose the beef and the other had lamb. Both left the majority of it, finding it fatty and not well cooked. Big chunky roast parsnips, fantastic.... No, left far to big so not cooked through properly and definitely not roasted. The building is tired and dirty. Big piece of wallpaper missing from the wall by the toilet, window I was sitting next to was black all around the frame. Wall in my direct view, looked damp with paint peeling off it. Very disappointing experience and we will not be back.

The lady chef on the carving counter was really nice and informed me that you can ask for more than 1 Yorkshire! And our waitress was newly employed to Toby and she was absolutely lovely!! So nice checked in and made sure everything was great

Was not an enjoyable experience, definitely not suitable for visiting with young children and probably won't go again. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 toddlers, self serve buffet for all except the meat. 40 minute queue for food so didn't have the option of going up in 2 groups, so had to take the kids up to the buffet with us. No trays or anywhere to rest a plate, so if you're getting a meal for you and a toddler, you need 2 hands to hold the 2 plates, a hand to keep hold of the toddler and a hand to dish up your meals... not practical at all. They couldn't keep up demand with the gravy so spent 10 mins waiting for that, meaning food was cold by the time it came out. Ordered ice cream for the kids and after 30 minute wait they hadn't arrived so we cancelled the dessert and asked for the bill, and were given attitude by the staff because of it.

Never had a bad meal, exactly what you think its going to be and how busy it is shows! The only difficult part is managing to grab a host to pay the bill! They are amazing to be fair and all deserve a pay rise!

My favourite meal is a cooked dinner with plenty of vegetables and I do enjoy a Sunday roast here. It's delicious. Chefs and all staff work extremely hard and are very attentive no matter how busy it gets. It's appreciated. Will be back. 👍

Went for breakfast, disappointing and a felt like a rip off. Might cost £6.99 for breakfast but you have to pay for coffee / drinks separately and can't get what you want without having to wait some time. Coffee was just sachets or plain filter coffee, no cappuccinos etc.. Food was tasty but they ran out of most items such as sausages, egg, hash browns. People on our table ended up having to wait a while so we were unable to all eat together. To be fair the person on this counter was rushed off his feet and didn't seem to have any help. We couldn't go up for anymore as they cleared everything away including coffee, bang on 11am. Other places serve a better value breakfast so I would go there next time with better coffee!

I very rarely go out for a roast dinner, it’s something I would prefer to eat at home. The Sunday lunch was excellent, plenty of meat and as many roasties and vegetables as you want. The staff were excellent very busy and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised, the meal and service were excellent. I will definitely be calling again.

They really need to change the beef supplier here because it is NEVER decent!! Can't even cut through it, it's always stringy every time I have it!! The pork is nice, but would rather some decent BEEF!

we are local to this toby carvery so we pop in here all the time! never had an issue before, however last night we decided we'd go to toby for dinner, checked online for bookings and all the slots were empty so we thought we'd ok pop down. waited at front desk for a good 25-30 mins, a member of staff walked past and ignored us and the couple behind, i called her over and asked are there walk ins available or do we need to book, the restaurant was fairly empty but we couldn't see any staff around, she said we just needed to wait and someone but be over shortly, finally someone came over and i said table for 2 adults and a child she said no sorry we are full and you need to book an table, so we left and stood by the outer door, went online and booked a table for that exact minute for 3 guests! but they were full? the couple who are behind us said oh we haven't booked a table, yet they were seated instantly?. anyway, we waited back at the desk for another 10-15 minutes the woman came back and my husband stated look we've booked a table online, she looked at the booking and sat us down at a table, we ordered drinks and a dessert for my daughter as she didn't want food, we waited nearly half an hour for a kids chocolate ice cream because the server had forgotten to order it, fine, we finally got our food but no cutlery? had to go on the hunt ourselves to find cutlery! we ate our carvery and wanted to order dessert for ourselves, half an hour we sat waiting as no server was around? we gave up in the end and asked the bar staff if we could pay our bill as we hadn't seen the server since we arrived! A real shame as we found it so convenient going to this toby, never seen these servers before, we could have let that building without payment cause we were left in the corner and ignored.

The worst one I've been to yet! On arrival even though we booked a table we had to wait 30mins to be seated. At no point did we see a waitress until we asked for dessert from one passing bye it was like fend for yourselves. The line to get food was insanely large due to them tending to online orders like deliveroo it took 40mins to get food. Half the vegetables were finished. Safe to say will not go again!

As always Caerphilly Toby Carvery is a welcoming place to be, our server Angharad was friendly as always and asked us if we was enjoying our meal. Very quick and prompt with everything. She’s always running about making sure her customers & tables etc are cleaned. Food was stunning as always, drinks machine etc always a bonus to get drinks when it’s convenient for you. Chef also serving the meat was very friendly. I would rate the service 10/10. Booking was easy through the website, tables are always clean when seated. We was seated very quickly even though we arrived 10 minutes before.

Beautiful cooked dinner and very good friendly service from the staff. All the Meat (Gammon, Beef & Lamb) were cooked to perfection, the wife and I have previously paid a lot more at restaurants/pubs and been quite disappointed. We will definitely be making regular visits to Toby Carvery Caerphilly in future. Only complaint would be no original Pepsi/Coke at the refilling machine, only sugar free/diet options.

I rate this as a 10. The best carvery we ever had there and we are regulars. The new leak dish and the parsnips were amazing. The meats were outstanding. We loved it all. The service we also received was fabulous. Thank you. We will ge back and have recommended it to many people.

In general the place was fab. Food was lovely but your staff were allowing unruly children to run around, especially by the hot food counter and mess about with the ice machine. It made our whole meal awful and not one member of staff spoke to the parents. I don't blame staff at all for this but it wasn't a pleasant meal we wanted and expected.

The food was exceptional. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food fresh with a big selection. It was busy but we didn't have to wait very long. Lovely Yorkshire puddings. Very friendly server. Amazing value for money.

Called in for breakfast. Staff are absolutely brilliant. So very helpful and friendly . Nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was hot , varied and plentiful. All very fresh and not overcooked. Highly recommended.

Customer service was impeccable. The manager on shift made the evening, with how he interacted with our daughter, who didn’t stop laughing for the whole visit. All the staff were very professional, happy and polite.

The food is decent though Toby Carvery is becoming a bit omnipresent these days - can we just have ordinary pubs instead ? Understaffed and inefficient in taking sales and providing service. Despite this, the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 3 (or even 2) is the extremely patient server who helped us with the discount app. Full marks to them for that - at that price it's very good value.

Unbelievable. Stayed at Premier hotel next door. Went for a drink at 9.02pm at the next door Toby Carvery to be told that food and drinks stopped at 9pm prompt. All our 15 friends (arranged reunion) turned up to this prehistoric so called eating house and basically were told to go elsewhere! We will never, ever go to this Premier hotel which does not mention the drinks restriction at the Toby Carvery and certainly the establishment itself, of which we have warned off many of our friends and work associates to avoid. In its defence however the food was good the waitress wonderful but the cost of a large wine extortionate at £7.25

Shocking! Before we even walked in there was a woman who warned us that there wasn't any meat left so we didn't have great expectations walking in but what little expectation we had was crushed when we realised it wasn't busy in the slightest to warrant running out of meat and we didn't get any replacement, they had run out of gravy and no-one was checking so I had to ask if more was coming to which they had to make more but by the time it came my food was cold and the gravy was lukewarm so didn't warm the plate up, the staff stood around chatting and didn't bother asking if we were alright but to top it off the light shade above our table was caked in dust and every now and then would drop down and sprinkle over my food. Avoid this place if you enjoy a warm meal and staff who take pride in their service. Looks lovely from outside though. EDIT: after my last visit I was hesitant to come again but I couldn't argue with my partner so here is my follow up review. There was a lovely woman who served me and to my amazement there was meat! A decent amount as well, all the trimmings ready and waiting and enough gravy to feed a small army also everything was hot, now I'm excited to sit and eat but abit worried I might have a side of dust like the last meal but no the light shade above my table had been altered and cleaned not sure about any other table, the staff seemed to be busy enough as to not be able to stand around chatting, instead they focused on their service and good service it was, polite and helpful. I'm happy to say I would come here again.

Warmth, attentiveness and professionalism of staff was superb. Have been to this venue before and have always been completely satisfied. On this occasion we had a half price offer on main meals. This is the first time we've had/used this offer and did wonder if perhaps choice of food would be more limited but it certainly was not. The choice of meats and vegetables were the same as all other times we've been. Food was lovely, fresh and hot. Myself and my husband were very happy and are looking forward to visiting again. We have already shared our positive feedback amongst friends and thoroughly recommend it.

Been coming here ages walking in, now there's a voucher on offer, no walk ins, no takeaways on our visit, very clearly 3 tables empty at the bar, asked staff about it because someone could come in 10 mins, won't give a meal.

Food was excellent for the price we paid ( 50% off mains ) I would have had certain issues had I paid full price. After being seated by the front of house person and directed to our table, he took our drinks order and left without any further info or instruction. I had to call a ‘ waitress’ and ask what the procedure was for collecting our meal. Decor, tables and menus were all ‘grubby’ and tired looking. I had to go looking for someone to get and pay my bill. Overall a decent meal for the money I paid…just glad I didn’t pay full price.

I have eaten several times recently at Cedar Tree, including 1 visit with 10 of my family, and have not been disappointed. The staff have always been courteous and helpful and the food, both mains and desserts, very tasty and great value. I will definitely return!!
