The water is beautiful and clear.I recommend for you to go really early to get a parking space. It’s free and a clean place.Keep in mind that the water is really cold but other than that it was a great experience.❗️The right address is 555 Cheathman St. San Marcos Tx. 78666❗️

This is not the address to the River, Look up "Rio Vista Park" that's where you wanna be at, pics in this address don't match.

This is the wrong location to the San Marcos River. Now from here we still have about 40 min to actually get to the River. I'm disappointed.

Tubing was fun but can be dangerous. Would advise on renting a life jacket even if you are an expierence swimmer. And dont buy a water proof case holder for your phone there cus my sister bought one n it broke and lost her phone.

Had a blast! Went for Fourth of July weekend and it was nice. Water was actually deep and cold, there was a lot of people but at least you can still get in the water, you dont have to be around them it started to get empty toward evening time my favorite part was tubing down the river and it’s quiet and chill you almost forget where you at for a moment. Plus it’s free you don’t have to pay unless you don’t want to walk when you have a tube but other then that it’s your choice. I recommend this river it don’t disappoint.

Free swimming & tubing for the family to enjoy. Or you can rent tubes & use their shuttle service. Propane grills are allowed.

This place is one of the most relaxing places in San Marcos! 😍😍 I fell in love with the silence and cleanliness of the river and its surroundings. Everyone can sit on a mat and just chill and relax. It's a perfect spot for the day out and picnic. It's allowed to swim, kayaking, etc. Will I come back? Definitely YES!

It's always well maintained and there's great camping spots the only thing I don't like is you can't drive through to choose your camping spot first you have to go to the office to get an entrance permit before you do anything and if you don't you will be treated like a criminal

I got massively sunburned on my trip out to Austin and the water from this river felt like ice, it was awesome! Try not to go too early in the summer or risk it being over crowded from college students celebrating the end of the semester. Otherwise a gorgeous spot with water the strangest shade of blue. Its also the one and only home of the San Marcos Salamander.

Bathroom is really clean but on a side note I tried 2 booked 2 nights online went to the desk when I checked in they gave me a different tent for the next day then when I got my credit card bill they charged me an extra 55$ without telling you when I called they said a Manger will call you but they didn't I called again they said the second I went in the room earlier so it seems like u have to wait on your 2nd they outside of the tent until 330pm when I just transfer from one tent to another no one told me this being a single parent it's hard when your kids have a good report card and save money and they charge u hidden prices

Gorgeous river. On the same grounds as Texas State University so beware about where you decide to settle yourself down as there is a part of the river you cannot consume alcohol in. Float rentals are $14 however the majority of people bring their own. They also sell the air for $4 i believe in case you need to put air on your own float. Anyways my experience was enjoyable, very relaxing. The river hosts life to wild rice which was pretty cool to see. If you look down hard enough you can see small fish swim at your feet. This river is swim at your own risk so no lifeguards are around to protect you. Overall a great experience to help connect yourself with mother nature.

This place is as good as it sounds. I have gotten there like every single summer and spring break and trust me it is a 2 hour and 30 drive from where I live at but it is totally worth it. The current might be strong but its in thr afternoon and the water is always warm

My friends and I go to float the river EVERY YEAR! It’s clean, fun, refreshing and a great way to step out into nature. It’s one of my favorite things to do in Texas!

Cool breezy water way in pretty area. Great for whole family or group of friends to go tubing. See the historical homes & museums in area. Then spend the afternoon cooking off in the San Marco's River.

Lots of fun but very cold water!! Take your own floaties to avoid wasting money and make sure to wear water shoes. The rocks can kill the fun.

I liked the area where the San Marcos Lions Club Tube Rental is and the upper stream. The water is clear, and you can feel the current. I did not like the rest of the area except for the final three rapids. The reason? The smell of Mary Jane and cloudy water.  It seems this river is for riverside blazers because wherever going through quiet places along the river, there was the distinct smell of ganja lingering in the air. Comal and San Marcos rivers share the same water aquifer. Both rivers provide fun river-tubing. If you want a nice relaxing feeling with your family, go to the Comal River.

Place is ok if you are close yo it but if the driving is over 2 hour is NOT worthy, river very crowded, bathrooms very filthy and very hard to find parking space.
