There is no single employee with a smiling face. Rude nurses and doctors and reception. I paid more than $700 for 6 hour stay and some tests for my gf. So expensive. Avoid it.

It happened that my husband had to stay in this hospital due to radical prostatectomy, robot assisted laparoscopic operation. We have been told that this is the only hospital, that have this medical equipment Da Vinci surgical system to perform it. The Surgen and the operating team were very helpful, but the hospital care team could not communicate with us in English at all! So my husband was left in discomfort if I was not there to help, or I was failing in my translations, as I am not fluent is Spanish as well. The operation went well, the recovery room was nice and comfortable. The food was not very good and tap water was not drinkable, the bottled water was offered us on the second day. All went reasonably well till the check out time, when no one was aware of our departure time and could not give us any information about aftercare and help to get ready to get dressed and leave. My husband was in high discomfort and pain, he had a catheter and it was hard to fit him into his clothes. The biggest disappointment was at the check out table, where we where presented with additional HUGE bill for the hospitalization and additional fees we had no idea about as we already have paid one HUGE bill for operation! Naively believed this was it, as we never paid double bills before. All in all it is nice but very expensive hospital.

Very very slow payment and receipt processes. Waited on check in 20 minutes while they took our deposit and on check out over 1.5 hours. Other than that a very nice clean place, good rooms, good doctors, lovely staff. As others have said, pretty expensive. Food options for patients not great.

The majority of the people who work here, especially the front desk, triage, and “nurses”, are extremely NOT friendly nor sympathetic to people who come to this “hospital” with medical issues/problems. Or maybe my family was given ill treatment because we’re Americans. I don’t know, but we had a much less than a good experience when we went here today, due to my wife feeling very sick on our first day in Panama. Only the Doctor and the X-ray tech showed any sign of friendliness or compassion. Even worse, no one except the Doctor spoke English. If I wasn’t partially able to speak Spanish, and I don’t speak fluently, we wouldn’t have been able to communicate or understand ANYTHING! Even then, there was no attempt to make things comfortable for my wife. She was shaking and was freezing, and I asked (in Spanish!) for a blanket during triage. “No” was the reply from gruff triage man. “You don’t have a blanket for her? She’s freezing” I said in Spanish. “I don’t have one here” he said back in Spanish, while he proceeded to type his report slowly using only 2 fingers. Unless I was on death’s door I would NEVER go back there. And even then I’d think twice!

If you have to go there. You better have a doctor picked out in advance. Otherwise chances are good you'll get assigned a real gem.

The attention from the emergency room personnel from this hospital is horrible. Only people with no education and no sense of humanity work there.

Got an antigen covid test here today for my flight out of the country. It was $30. I was in and out in 30 minutes and got the results 5 hours later. I recommend if you need a covid test!

At the beginning of September I had a total hip replacement (THR) at Hospital Nacional. Surgery was carried out at the time scheduled, and attention from personnel was superlative. Every day I was visited by not 1, but 2 nutritionists, who worked hard to please me by working around my very difficult dietary restrictions. Floor staff responded immediately and without complaint to my unending requests, always cheerful and willing to help. They exceeded my expectations in every category!

It's too clean and the subway station "Santo Tomás" is near from the building.

This hospital has many flaws. I've been there many times and for starters or people that have never gone to this hospital, parking inside the parking lot of the hospital which is located on the bottom floor which they call "Sotano" is very limited. There is an open parking garage outside but it is not manged by the hospital and they will charge you for parking there. In this open parking lot, there is no point of getting your ticket validated at the hospital for a reduced/discounted price as the parking lot is not managed and/or owned by the hospital. Customer service really lacks and when it comes for them to really understand how international insurances work, its really a nightmare. If for some reason you do not pay them, they will give you really bad medical attention as they are always looking on their own financial well being instead of the patient's well being. Or it may be that they do not know how to do the right medical billing so that the Insurance can pay the hospital which was the thing in my case. So since they do not know how to to the right medical billing, then becuase of their mistake, they force you to pay all of their bills, which according to my insurance, it is covered 100% and I as a Patient do not have to pay anything out of pocket. This on my opinion is really sad to find out from a hospital in this category that they actually do this to patients. I at least fought for what was right, but what about any local person or anyone that just does what they tell them to pay without even asking?I would think that doctor's and medical ethics would play a major role when it came to attending patients there, however this is far from the truth. There should be a Panamanian agency that should be overlooking and monitoring these private hospitals. As for me, I will never go to this hospital again.

I had a vacation to Panama City and now I'm going back to the US, so I came here to to a PCR test, nice guy here and even though I don't know any Spanish, they still explain everything in a simple way to me.
