We were impressed with the incredible effort the hostess invested in this beautiful accommodation. The decoration is beautiful and unique. The breakfast was delicious. When we asked the hostess what restaurants were open on New Years day she called around and even jumped in her car to speak to the manager of a restaurant that did not answer the phone. So in the end we managed to have a good diner with our group of 7. Thumbs up for Reinette. This accommodation located at walking distance from the city town and a short drive to The Valley of Desolation and the Candewoo national park.

What a lovely guesthouse in Graaff-Reinet, conveniently located, clean, welcoming, charmingly decorated and safe. Reinette, the owner, was very friendly and helpful.

Do NOT stay at Somerset Stables. My partner and I stayed tried to stay there last week but had to check out after just one night. The room that we had booked leaked water from the roof onto the bed so we had to change rooms. The owner then told us that we needed to shower etc that night because there would be no water the following morning because of loadshedding. We then found that although there was no loadshedding that evening there was NO running water in the room. The following morning after what had turned out to be a very disappointing and stressful nights stay we decided to check out. I spoke to the owner and said that I would be happy to pay for the night. We had booked for 4 nights. Booking.com had stated on the booking confirmation that I had to pay the owner on departure. She told me that I need to speak to Booking.com and they would take payment. I said OK and left. I then found out the following day that the owner had already taken the full amount for all 4 nights from my credit card the previous Thursday. So in summary two rooms that we were offered were not fit for purpose and the owner lied to me about the monies. Oh and by the way having spoken to her today (Reinette Te Water Naude) she has refused to give me a refund. SO DO NOT STAY AT SOMERSET STABLES but do stay next door at Villa Reinet with Ailsa and her son Gavin who are both wonderful.

Absolutely stunning place, the lovely owner Reinet makes one feel at home. Interiors takes you back in time.

Excellent service from Reinett. The accommodation has a rich history and is worthy of being a museum. The stay was comfortable. I look forward to going back there sometime.

We felt right at home. Lovely friendly lady who's place is very neat and unique. Breakfast fantastic.

Wonderful accommodation, delicious breakfasts and a warm welcome from Renette - what more could one want? Then the extra mile of dinner reservations having been made for us and advice on what to see and where to buy the best lamb - an amazing hostess!

Always such a charming and welcoming host. The gardens are looking lovely!

Will defenately return. Dinner was organised aswell and the friendliest people you will ever meet. Was a lovely experience!

What an incredible B&B! Despite load shedding, our host provided all of the amenities with grace. And the omelets that Mavis makes are beyond compare.
