Good experiences, very cheap price for tropical fruit and nice sunrise. I went there very early in the morning around 5:30am so I caught the beautiful sunrise. Foreigners should take different tour so you guys could evenly the most authentic floating market. And don’t expect a lot ( like what you see in the advertising 😅).

Not that picturesque, but if you're in Can Tho you have to see it. They say one should go veeery early when it's the busiest. When you hire a boatman he'll take you to a "sponsored" boat shop to do shopping. Better not to buy there as it will be very overpriced (and you'll have to carry it all the rest of the day); better to buy anything you want anywhere else in town at the end of your day.

Such an interesting and vibrant floating market There are lots of thing sold here just like in-land markets. Wholesale Traders coming from different nearby provinces to sell their products as life on waterway is very common in the Mekong delta before. The boats are like their houses during a market period (can be a week or ten days depending on how many products are consumed). Such an interesting to observe local floating life, even pets can be found living with their owners on board. However, I heard that less people choose this floating trade anymore as the transportation by road is becoming better and more convenient. As you are getting closer the boat shops, you can see products sold are hanged in the front of the boat so that it is easier for retailers to see than a writing banner. The market only takes place in early morning to about 10am so be sure to plan your visit in the right time.

I had a lot of expectations about this place... My bad. Over the decades it was an authentic trade market, but now it's just a shade from that place, touristic hole. I'm an expat here, not tourist so can be a bit biased. You can buy a cheap ticket on the pier, Ninh Kieu Wharf, just 2 $ for a seat in 10 seat boat for 4 hr trip, you'll visit all shops and factories for tourists on the way. Tips greatly appreciated. Maybe try custom trip instead. Our tour guide speaked a little English but tried her best to host us.

Its definitely not worth paying for a tour to come here. It's 90% tourist boats crowing the area with almost no local sellers or buyers. Would not recommend. If you do want to come here anyway make sure not to overpay for the ride. Anything more than 100k is too much.

Not like it used to be anymore. Way too commercialized. Everyone trying to sell you boat tickets. The boat moves way too quick to enjoy the experience. They want to take you to floating restaurant and attractions that sell you more stuff. Kids under 15 do not enjoy it at all cuz it so early in the morning. Ok for adults who want to experience it.

For locals, this is a wholesale market. For tourists, it is a trap because wholesale of course is boring. Better observe what's happening from the other side of the river. Doesn't cost anything and gives an authentic impression what locals really do. If you want to see a real local market, go to An Binh market right next to the floating market. It's worth it!

Unfortunately, this floating market is not what it used to be. Don't be fooled by the photos advertised online and through tour agencies. All old photos of the floating market. Can Tho is known for this famous floating market but it is dying so dont waste your money. We went 10 years ago and it was such an amazing experience and wanted to share the experience with friends. We recently went again, and it was very disappointing - there was only a handful of boats, the vendor were rude and there wasnt much to see.

We were a little disappointed with this floating market for some reason - I’m unsure exactly what we expected but it wasn’t this. I was extremely hungover too and could barely withstand being on the boat so perhaps this had something to do with it BUT the 4:30AM wake up was definitely not worth it in my opinion. The idyllic floating markets that you have in your head are not this one. They’re just some cargo boats with men throwing fruit around and few of them at that. Certainly wouldn’t advise anybody pay a boat man or tour guide to visit here as you can also watch it from the side of the river and have the exact same experience. The only positive was boating down the ‘small canals’ which were tranquil, though nothing I’ve not seen before! See the images for a fuller picture…

Quite a disappointment to be honest. Paid a local 200k vnd for an hour on the water (they started with a 400k price). Got dropped off on several locations to buy stuff. No thank you. The amount of waste (plastics and styrofoam food containers) in the river is painful to see.

Definitely worth a visit, specially early mornings when the trades start, its a wholesale and retail market for locals and some boats selling food etc for tourists too.

There's no floating market, it's just small VERY touristy shops (booths not really floating next to the river), selling all the same things, especially do not book Mekong tours, they are constructed for mass tourism and really nothing positive or nice to see!!

Authentic experience. I liked it. A lot of tourists, I would suggest getting your own private boat. Don’t pay more than 220,000 per person for your own private boat. I’m sure I could’ve got it cheaper I just didn’t feel like negotiating. Good luck and have fun!

Cái Răng Floating market is the place for Famer to trade their fruit on farm, especially like the total depot trading to all places in Mekong Delta and southern region of Viet Nam. Most of the fruits, vegetables, and foods. Now a lot of tourists who go to the Mekong Delta always visit these places to see the trade especially tropical fruits in the south of Viet Nam. In this area have 02 Floating market is Cai Rang and Phung Hiep.

Quite nice place to experience the floating market. You can buy some foods for breakfast as well as coffee. Furthermore there are some people selling some fruits too. In order to see this market, you have to start in early morning.

It was great to explore once. Had the bun rieu. It was just ok. Iced coffee on a boat was nice too. Our boat driver was so nice and it was an awesome Experience starting at 5am and finishing at 10am. The coconut candy factories were fun.

An interesting place to visit. I visited the market in January and in the Tet celebration, new year. The market is full of tourist, you can breakfast in the boats and buy some food to the local sellers. At the end is something a bit tourist and unfortunately the water of the entire river is quite dirty but it's an interesting experience.

Once you are in Can Tho, worth the visit.. Otherwise no need to see this (especially not worth to go there from Saigon only because of this market).

  • 4/5 Mai P. 1 year ago on Google
The market is not as crowded as expected. Very few boat and trading activity happend. Tourist even much more than locals😆 But still it is a good experience. The people here friendly. You may need to refuse some offers from your boat driver if they recomend you to go to some shop or others places.

You cant miss experiencing the amazing Floating markets in the mekong delta. Sellers buy produce from the farms upstream and spend days on the floating markets selling produce. These are wholesale markets for fruit and vegetable which operate in the early hours of the morning. The tours are later in the day when the markets are a bit quieter, there are also food boats selling amazing noodle soups for tourists and locals.

🛶🛶 Floating Market tips 🛶🛶 We stayed in Can Tho and were quoted extortionate amounts of 1.5 mill dong for a trip to the market, noodle factory, canal and orchard. Along the front of the river near the night market there were friendly ladies selling boat tours the exact same as our hotel for 300k per person on a private boat, leaving at 5am. We were slightly sceptical, however after seeing groups at the above attractions on our tour we realised they would be having an identical experience. The tour itself was okay, I wouldn’t hold any expectations. The main enjoyment was the actual boat and being on the river. After a 4 hour tour, we felt that 550k for 2 people was a fair price, anything higher I would have felt ripped off.

An enjoyable experience. Market seemed smaller than expected with not too much activity other than tourist boats driving around. This may have just been the time of day or the day of the week that we went, but it was still worth seeing and experiencing.

We were greeted with smiles and a courteous, professional driver. The sights were amazing, and the experience was like no other. Enjoyed fresh pineapple, and bought some things. I'd recommend this tourist attraction to anyone visiting.

This is a significant traditional market in western Vietnam. There are many floating shops on the Mekong River, and visitors can have breakfast on board. It was a wonderful experience, and I will never forget it.

Cai Rang Floating Market in Vietnam and the floating markets in Thailand each offer unique and vibrant experiences, but they have distinct characteristics that set them apart. **Cai Rang Floating Market (Vietnam):** Cai Rang Floating Market is located in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, near Can Tho City. It's one of the largest and most iconic floating markets in the country. Here's a comparison: 1. **Size and Scale:** Cai Rang is known for its impressive size, with a bustling atmosphere where boats of various sizes sell fresh produce, street food, and even household items. It's a vibrant and colorful spectacle. 2. **Local Culture:** Cai Rang is deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture. It offers a glimpse into the daily lives of local farmers and traders who rely on the Mekong River for their livelihoods. You'll experience authentic Vietnamese culture and hospitality. 3. **Products:** You can find a wide range of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and other Vietnamese delicacies. The focus is on local produce and cuisine. **Thailand Floating Markets:** Thailand is famous for its floating markets as well, with some of the most popular ones being Damnoen Saduak, Amphawa, and Taling Chan. Here's a comparison: 1. **Tourist-Focused:** Thai floating markets are often more tourist-oriented, with souvenir shops and a wider range of goods aimed at visitors. They can get quite crowded, especially on weekends. 2. **Boat Tours:** In Thailand, you can take boat tours through the markets, which is a unique experience. Vendors often sell souvenirs, handicrafts, and Thai street food. 3. **Cultural Experience:** While Thai floating markets do offer a glimpse into local life and culture, they may not be as authentic as Cai Rang. However, they are still a great way to experience Thailand's vibrant street food scene and traditional crafts. In summary, Cai Rang Floating Market in Vietnam provides a more authentic and immersive experience into the local culture, focusing on fresh produce and Vietnamese cuisine. Thai floating markets, on the other hand, are often more tourist-oriented with a wider variety of goods and unique boat tours. Both offer their own charm and are worth exploring if you have the opportunity.

👍 The building isn't just a symbol on its own, it is the entire market that surrounds it. Some may visit the market for the street vendors, or the souvenir shop inside the building. Personally, I believe just infront of it all is a moment of realization. How through years and even the Covid pandemic,...
