Excellent selection of reptiles, birds, plants and fish. They have unique replies, various geckos, snakes, skinks and many more. Staff are knowledgeable about the different animals and plants, and are happy to answer any questions you may have. They provide boarding for reptile.

An amazing store with helpful and friendly staff, who know their products and the pets they sell. They have a huge selection of reptiles and plants and practically carry every brand of dry goods on the market. They recently expanded their fish section, and the fish looked healthy and in good condition. They have fish that a lot of other stores don't carry. Prices are reasonable, and they have a wide variety of all the essentials to keep your pets healthy and happy. Highly recommended for all your reptile and aquarium needs.

I normally leave upbeat positive reviews wherever I go. So I feel awful leaving such a bad review but I need to say something. I went here being told that it was the best reptile place in Toronto. I think that’s because it’s likely not in competition for businesses or for a higher standard. There was very cool reptiles and fish to be seen in there, but it’s also clear that most of them were being largely neglected. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. It was the state of care of some of the reptiles that ruined my experience. I have healthy reptiles at home that shine a light on the neglect that I saw in the care at this store. I hate leaving such negative reviews but I have seen such better stores with caring staff. The entire staff. I hope this can change for the better because I know that it can get better. I’m sorry for the negative review. I wish the best for your business.

Overall great experience. Spent most of the time talking to one of the employees about various different snakes I was deciding on. Asked if I could take a few out of the rack, was told yes, and another employee immediately jumped down my throat. This happened twice. Really wish everyone was on the same page, or at least the employee who I wasn't dealing with me didn't feel the need to chastise me even though I asked for permission. Anyway, my rainbow boa (bucket list reptile!) is happy and healthy at home, and we'll spend a long time together. 🐍

We had an amazing experience, Snowden was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and helped us get everything we needed for our bioactive tank for Amazon Milky Tree Frogs! Really great store with an incredible selection of lizards and plants!

Thanks to Tails and Scales for Boarding my girl. It takes the stress off when you're going on vacation not knowing what to do. Also I would recommend if you're in the market to get a forever reptile to check them out. We got our Female Veiled Chameleon from Tails and Scales and we love her. No issues at all. Highly recommend. Thanks again for taking care of our girl much appreciated. Adding: we boarded her again for a weekend. She was well taken care of. Great selection of fish, reptiles and aquatic plants. Ordering online was great as well. Fish and plants came well packed. Fishes were healthy. Definitely my go to fish shop now.

Very helpful & nice staff! Worth the 1.5 hour drive since tails and scales seriously has the biggest rare plant variety. Even plants I haven’t seen before! Great place to come for plants & reptiles

Very friendly and helpful staff! Very decent price for some rare tropical plants! They have carnivorous plants with new stocks coming often. However! However! However! There were tones of mealybugs on the plant i bought. Took me a while to treat them.

Bought a budgie from this store over 2 years ago. He was quite nervous and breathing abnormally in the car home, which at the time we figured was just nerves. Unfortunately, within weeks of purchasing he passed away. There were signs from the beginning that the bird was suffering from anxiety and possibly trauma. The cages in the store were very small, with dozens of budgies in each one. I remember the process of removing him from the store cage being chaotic. To this day, my dad still thinks he’s at fault. But there is nothing we did to make this happen. Our other birds are happy and thriving. We’ve spoken to multiple vets who say they’ve never heard of a bird literally dropping dead after weeks of purchase. To this day, I think the conditions at this store contributed to the horrible outcome. The staff should monitor the well-being of their animals more closely.

Although their fish section was a little underwhelming in terms of health and variety, their plant and reptile sections were really neat! They have a wide variety of neat and rare plants, including many carnivorous plant species. The staff are very passionate and knowledgeable about the work they do and are willing to help you learn about products or stock you’re interested in! Overall a very unique and interesting store, especially for a plant or reptile nerd.

Visited tonight … a busy Sunday night before closing…..Came with my 9 year old who’s anxious to learn about arboreal lizards. Stephanie was amazing!!! She was enthusiastic, energetic, considerate and took the time to speak to my daughter in a manner that was equal parts warm school teacher and expert herpetologist! Her service alone, has cemented for us that THIS will be our go to store in the GTA. WELL DONE STEPHANIE!

Bought my baby ball python a live hopper feeder from this place bc he refuses to eat the frozen feeder I bought from PetSmart. Gave it to him and he ate it right away. Also bought some frozen feeders, clean and nicely packed. Great store, friendly staff and reasonable price, would def recommend!

I frequent Tails and Scales to get food for my snake and geckos. For the most part the staff are wonderfully friendly and very helpful, and they have a lot of pet supplies! I've seen many happy people leave with new pets as well. I really appreciate the rewards points program they have for regulars.

Just left this place and all I gotta say is wow, it was extremely pleasant!! The workers were super nice and actually know their stuff. One worker in particular was extremely nice, friendly, and chatty. Great experience, can’t wait to come again!!

My go to place in Toronto for feeders and they have everything you could want/need to spoil your scaly babies at fair prices. The staff are also super friendly and have tons of experience. They are always more than happy to offer their help and advice, which has saved me soooooo much money after months of going in circles at the vet. I always come to tails & scales for my reptile needs! The staff are super kind and helpful, there’s always lots to see, and you can’t beat the prices on feeders. I recently was in a petsmart and compared just out of curiosity and it was ridiculous! Definitely worth the trek across the city for me. Absolutely love this shop and recommend.

Always worth the trek out to this shop. Pretty much all of my reptile needs I get fulfilled here! I love wandering the shop to see what’s on hand, even what they’re boarding at any given time. I heard about this place through a hobby friend at work, I was looking for spring tails and honestly, my buddy undersold how valuable an asset this place is to terrarium, paladarium (spelling?) or aquarium hobbyists. Huge shout to Sarah, best 10min the talk about plants in my life and I’ve had a few. Super knowledgeable but brought it to a palatable level for rookies like me trying new things. Roxanne is an absolute gem, again way to much information to paraphrase but she manages to do it, and you walk away with a better grip which is massive to alot of us who can’t quite wrap our head around the science but want to learn. And finally Carlin was so patient with my excitement seeing all these crazy tanks in the back with so many different fish and things, so much inventory, crazy amounts to look at, way to much to choose from, I’m surprised I still have money in my wallet, deff coming back to get this guy to help me find a way to buy more fish. So much love and respect for all the staff here you guys Wally make this pace such an awesome experience and it’s well worth it every time coming by. Ftr, if you see something you like here, buy it, high stock turn over so there’s always new things to look at in all departments and there always bought up quickly!

Got a pair of Apistogramma Agassizi from this hidden gem of a store. The fish were very healthy and are already displaying breeding behaviour on the second day of being in my tank. Apistos can be more difficult to find in store but they have many different varieties at incredible prices too! The person I spoke to was very helpful and knowledgeable as well. If you're on the hunt for dwarf cichlids look no further than Tails and Scales

Such great variety of reptiles & amphibians. I got a tomato frog there, they are hard to find. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who take time to share their knowledge. I was impressed that the frog seems to be familiar with tongs and a variety of foods, whereas most places only feed them crickets and it becomes hard to introduce new healthier foods.

We recently were in need for boarding for our Beardie and struggling to find a place in the GTA. I am so glad I stumbled across this gem of a place. They really care about the animals and customers. They went above and beyond to make sure they could accommodate our guy and took very good care of him for a week. I don't think he wanted to leave. Prices were very reasonable. The store is clean and staff are very knowledgeable. I purchased some cricket feeders when I was leaving and these were some of these best my guys had. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for reptiles, fish, enclosures, accessories and feeders.
