The Polar Express has long been a beloved family tradition in our family, but not anymore. We were so disappointed by our experience tonight. It seems to have gone down hill and the cut backs on staffing really detracted from the experience. The train was an hour late, which is a big deal when you have little kids. They tell you to come 45 minutes early in the confirmation email so many families were stuck waiting for nearly two hours. The waiters used to put on a fun show when they served the hot chocolate but not tonight; we had 2 waiters frantically trying to pour hot chocolate for the entire train car. They play the story over the speaker but it was so quiet, no one realized it was even playing and despite trying to listen, couldn’t. I asked if the volume could be turned up so the guests could hear, this did not happen. The windows were completely frozen over so you couldn’t see out the car. Not Aspen Crossing’s fault, however, they came and handed out window scrapers AFTER the train left the North Pole and we were on our return home. Would have been nice if they had the foresight to do this at the start of the ride so the kids could have seen the scenes along the way and Santa and the elves at the North Pole. My kids walked out tonight not wanting to go back next year. I’m so disappointed writing this review because I have always loved and recommended the Polar Express experience, but I won’t be doing that anymore. I feel like it is now completely over priced for what they are providing.

Came here for dinner in the dining car prior to the polar express experience. Dinner menu was a reduced selection, which was not what we expected but the food was cooked nicely and was tasty. Service in the car was good but very busy at times. The lineup for boarding was a bit stressful, as there is music blaring; flashing bright lights everywhere; and a crowd lining up in a fairly tight space. The train ride experience was the highlight of our visit, as our son (6) hasn’t read the book or watched the movie before this but he gave it rave reviews. Recommend the earlier train times for youngsters and dinner reservations right after. The dining car is reservations only and we booked a couple of months in advance. Best for ages 5-10 in my opinion!

My family and I enjoy the camping greatly. Unfortunately the dining experience greatly diminishes any positive experience to write about. Poor, slow service. 39 minutes for a drink, 45 minutes for 2 of 4 desserts ordered (you may think this came at the end of a meal, but no, that’s all we ordered. Just desserts) which the latter 2 did not come. Don’t spend your money at the tavern, where your time, your patience and your money is of no concern, neither is the accuracy of your order, or the completeness of your order. Where half the table receives their order and it’s an argument to get the last half, it may be an asset to meal plan yourselves, as neither the restaurant or the “store” provides essentials or your order. My children and I greatly enjoy the swimming hole and general atmosphere of the campground, but we will not rely on the Berquist for any enjoyable dining experience or rely on the store to supply any essentials during our camping stay! Like I said, meal plan and pack accordingly. If you forget the closest grocery is 30 minutes away. The campground is. 4.8 out of 5 but unfortunately the tavern is a solid 0.5 out of 5 which tainted our experience.

Fun fun fun! We did the twilight tour. The food was delicious. Customer service was great. The train robbery was so much fun. The prairies are breathtaking! Can't wait to do it again.

Older area of the campground is nice and treed. Lots of activities to do with the kids, the owners have been constantly upgrading and adding amenities. Trains small farm animals, swimming pond, pathways, gift shop and tavern. But I would recommend the pub in town over it.

Had an amazing time on the Train of Terror! Highly recommend making the trip out. The actors, staff, facilities were first class. Very well organized, reasonable drink prices, just really a great event! Our group is still talking about it and making plans to return next year!

This place has been on my bucket list and did not disappoint! SUPER friendly staff - we checked out both stores, did the retro train ride and stayed in the Northern Alberta Caboose. Got some goodies at the store, the train ride was so fun, loved the history speaker in between meals. Food was so yummy (lick your plate clean from that sauce on the chicken) and the disco party rocked. Our Caboose was very very cool! We had a big deck, full beds for 2 couples and they were really comfortable, we had a fire and enjoyed good company. This also seems like a great spot for kids, heard lots of laughter and friendships being made.

We went on the polar express with our 3 young boys. It was a fantastic experience and better than I expected. Our trip started with some train problems but the staff was great and made us feel well taken care of. I highly recommend it and will be going there again! Thanks Aspen Crossing and all the staff for the amazing experience!

Spent 4 nights on the new expansion side of the campground. It is beautiful and will be amazing once the trees have matured a little. The staff is very friendly. My kids loved the swimming pond. My only complaint is the price. Seems high. As well if you want to buy anything there or rent bikes it is extremely expensive. Very family friendly camping.

Drove by this place, did a u-turn, drove back and glad we did! Such a neat little place, we ate at the dinner car and was supper cool! Staff super friendly and the food was actually really good!! The dinner car also has a patio for the beautiful weather. I Highly recommend stopping here to have a bite to eat and go for a walk. Really cool place!

The train of terror has completely gone downhill. This was my third and (regretful) year of returning. The event is completely oversold, there are actors that take touching and bothering patrons way too far and there is no seating on the initial train ride out. Most of the trip will consist of standing around in a lineup all night long. We bought food tickets all to find out on the other train cars ‘there was no food left’. There were quite a few patrons over-served as well which defeated the rules of ‘no intoxicated’ patrons allowed. Also the women’s bathrooms were flooding and out-of-order at the initial start of the excursion which is just unacceptable considering how many people were at the venue. Our group of friends were all feeling sick the day after as well, we ate at the tavern to use up our food tickets that we couldn’t use on the train. For the cost, it’s quite run down. A few amenities could for sure be added (like shuttles out to Aspen Crossing- considering it’s about an hour from Calgary) and cutting down on the amount of people allowed per excursion. Also stop hiring actors that grab women’s faces and shove their fingers in their mouths. It’s too far & frankly disgusting.

Fun place to go to during Halloween. The haunted houses were incredible. Lots of actors which made our experience memorable. Fun train ride as well. The only minus is a smell of pigs or horse poop, hard to say which one exactly that was.😅

Had a great time on the Train of Terror last night. Actors where great, costumes where top notch and there where plenty of legit scares. The actors being allowed to grab and touch you added a level of immersion rarely found in haunted houses around here. Despite being able to grab you, the actors where still incredibly respectful. This was a great time and I can't wait to come back next year!

It's a nice campground. 2 different sides, both are really well done and maintained. Not all sites have sewer in the old section, but they have a dumping station on site. We come back ever year in the fall. So beautiful when the leaves turn colors

We did the Polar express event and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I think I waited too long and my kids were a bit too old. Even my youngest (9) was reluctant to participate in the dancing and activities. However, they did enjoy the experience and watching all the younger kids, so I still recommend it. If you can afford it when the kids are younger, though, It would be magical for them. We had dinner at the tavern afterwards, and the service was fantastic.

10/10 recommend!! Only wish our stay was longer. The Northern Alberta Caboose was very cool to stay in and had everything we needed, it was very clean and well set up! All the staff were super friendly and helpful. What an amazing experience! Thanks Aspen Landing for making this unique experience so wonderful The Gordon’s

It is a very nice place but mostly for RV and Motorhomes. Half of the camping area is pretty new and there aren't any trees to provide shade so it gets very hot during summer time. The other half has trees and it looks really nice. Camping sites come with power and water which is really nice and the pond is close by so you can take a swim.

This is an awesome campground. Great staff that are helpful, wood delivery to your site, food delivery that is hot. A real train and a great experience on it as it tours the farm land. A great swimming hole that seems to be packed everyday. Huge store with camping supplies and ice cream, bread, milk and much more.

Outstanding experience on the Train of Terror. The actors were unbelievable and I would give it a 20 out of 10. We went on the last day and you would never have known it. Staff was brilliant and so great. Thank you for a great evening.

We did a Friday night Twilight tour! It was so much better than I expected! We will definitely be doing this minimum once a year! Great food, great service, great stories and information! I'll still give it five stars, my only complaint is the candy caboose didn't have a lot of candy! But I have a sweet tooth! The new loop on the campground is a little sparse for greenery, but completely understandable.

The campground is wonderful. We have previously stayed in the original area with lots of trees, this time the new area. They have planted lots of trees and shrubs and when they fill in, it will be amazing. The sites are nice and large and very well kept. There is a swimming lagoon which looks lovely. The train excursions are also fantastic. We've been on two!

Polar Express was absolutely amazing. We took our boy (5) with another family and their 3 boys (6,6,7) and the kids were elated. It was a great experience as an adult too :) The staff were great and took to their roles exceptionally well. Lots of parking, popcorn and drinks available before you depart - reasonable prices. They had a good selection of merchandise too which seemed of quality. We picked up a few little items for the tree at home. We arrived an hour early, the trip was about an hour and easily worth the price of admission; can't speak highly enough of it.

We surprised our children with a ride on the Polar Express train, to say it was magical would be an understatement! All the staff and actors were so lovely and fun, what a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit!

Whats not to like about this place? They are changing the attraction as fast as the seasons change! Went to check out the Christmas market it was pretty cool with lots of vendors. Polar express is starting soon and although not for me it sounded like great family fun especially if you have little ones!

What a wonderful experience. Our whole train car was so into the Christmas spirit. The crew was amazing with all of us. Our kids absolutely loved it. 😍 Thank you to all of you. Great memories made tonight to last a lifetime.

Our two kids (3 and 5) loved it! What a magical and well executed experience!!! We will definitely revisit next year! Make sure to book a dinner in the train car before the ride. The burger is delicious!

We have been here twice now. First time was some yrs ago in the summer. Again just recently for the Polar Express on Monday evening. It was the 3 of us and my brother's family too. We were all in the Queenstown car. Had an amazing time. Singing and laughing and enjoying the whole experience. If you want to ride and experience this Polar Express, book the tickets. A exceptional way to enjoy your Christmas season and create great family memories. Both families also spent 2 nights staying in the Caboose cabins in the campground ( Northern Alberta Railway and Union Pacific ). Quite comfortable and enjoyable places to sleep. My boy loves the loft in the Northern Alberta Railway Caboose.

Went for a train ride dinner. Food is good, staff is nice. Had a great time, will definitely be back! From what we could see the campground looks great too.

The camping here was awesome 👌 The newer side doesn't have the trees grown big yet,but it is still quite private with the set up. Very well done. The washrooms were immaculate and even though it was muddy, the floors were always clean as was everything else! The staff are super friendly and helpful with any questions and the camp store has some fun items! Hope you can enjoy it as much as we did! We'll definitely be back to camp! Oh and the Ales on Rails dinner was also amazing 👏 😋

This is a review of the Aspen Crossing Caboose Cabin. They're incredible! If you're looking for an awesome and unique stay, look no further. The folks who work here are extremely helpful, the Aspen Crossing site has it all (campsite, restaurant, gift store, etc.), and the trains are in great shape on both the inside and out. Even my wife, who is very neutral about trains, loved it - I almost couldn't get her to leave!

My family has done the Christmas polar Express twice and we love it. We have also bought or trees for our property from their site and love the store they have on site.

I came out here for a commissioned photo shoot of the locomotive they have and boy what a pleasure to be out there. In terms of photo opportunities, this place is a gold mine. The lady in the gift shop was an absolute pleasure to deal with and was a pleasure to chat with about the locomotive. Definitely will be making future visits!
