Stop looking, eat here!! Best Sri Lankan in Ottawa. They feel like family when you visit, and even during the pandemic the food is excellent! Beautiful people and fresh, delicious food. What could be better!

Dinner at Ceylonta was a great experience! The servers are friendly, the atmosphere is pretty quiet, and overall the food was good! For two of us to eat, it cost us around $80 which might not be what everyone is looking to spend but we did get a drink, an appetizer, and then the Thali and Palandi. We left feeling full and will be coming back, that’s for sure!

Phenomenal Sri Lankan food in the heart of Ottawa. Our food was beautifully presented and seasoned perfectly. Would definitely recommend some of their “sizzling” dishes, like the devilled chicken. The roast beef and appetizer platter with mutton rolls and cutlets are a must get! Perfect for a cozy date or fun with friends.

The birthday girl requested food from Ceylonta and all nine of us were so glad she did. It was absolutely delicious. We weren’t sure what to order, and they told us they would select dishes for us that we would like, and they did not disappoint! We loved everything, and will be back. Thank you so much for the generous helpings!

Great food and service. They even gave us a free cocktail and sample of another dish! Our waiter was fantastic and the service good. We will be coming back.

Extremely friendly service. Their thali is so huge, too much for one person for sure so it's perfect for sharing and every dish is so different and unique. Their devilled dishes are spicy and great as well. The shrimps are plump and the beef is tender. Nothing bad about this place and great service. Will come back for sure!

this place is an absolute MUST go to. It is truly one of the best cuisines I've ever had. The hibiscus ginger drink was refreshing and delicious. We asked the chef to make us anything/to surprise us and he could not have done a better job. The flavour in every bite was spectacular. Could not recommend this restaurant enough.

We placed and Take Out order. They said it will take 30 minutes for order to prepare. We paid about 80$ in Total. Order took 1.5 hours and they kept us waiting. Not inly that they were keep lying just 15 minutes more. Then they gave us the worst possible Indian food can eat. Beef curry was made with ketch up, kothu paratha had bread in it, it was not paratha it was bread they used. The fired rice were burnt. We told them that we have to drive to London On. So they thought we are tourist and gave us worst possible food. Our issue did not over here. We all got food poisoning After eating there food. To the owner - you are cheating and fraud . If you cant deliver in 30 minutes then you should not promise just to earn few $$ more. God is watching and Karma will definitely get you. We will also write to Health Ottawa about food poisoning. If your Traveller Avoid this place please. You will regret if you do not.

Best Authentic Sri Lankan restaurant in Ottawa. When we went there I saw lot of other nationals also enjoying the Authentic Sri Lankan food. We had a great time there, Their beef roast was very tasty. I really enjoyed it. Best customer service as well. If you are around Ottawa, this must be a have to visit place for dinner. And lastly, you have to definitely try their hibiscus juice.

A must try place for Tamil South Indian and SriLankan dishes. We tried Chicken Kothu porotta, and it was delicious. Worth every penny! The Kothu is soft and tasty, has more chicken pieces than any other place. We also tried the Devilish Chicken and it's an uncommon dish that you can try it out. The service is great, place clean and a pleasant ambience.

Ceylon, growing up I only knew Ceylon it changed to Srilanka. Well, decided to spend Family day, so headed to Ceylonta! We ordered Thali, spicy skillet chicken Ceylon style, and lobsters on another skillet. My first morsel took me to my grandmother's kitchen. Food is authentic with freshly ground spices that actually tickles your taste buds and nose simultaneously. You don't want anyone interrupting after that lol. I specially ordered a tamarind drink made with honey, jaggery, and authentic mild spices that hits ur taste buds instantly. The ambience is calming, staff are cheerful and suggest what we can try and they were absolutely right. Will I give this restaurant a 5 star? Absolutely! And it's my go to place with family and friends.

Excellent restaurant for authentic Sri Lankan food. The moment I entered I was greeted with a friendly server and seated immediately. I was recommended the specialties for the day and I was very impressed at the presentation and stellar taste of the dishes. I had the mutton rolls, chicken kothu, and gulab jamun. All items were served hot, fresh, and the taste was off the charts. Highly recommend if you are in the Ottawa area!

Lovely place for Indian food downtown. Bonus if you’re in during lunch time, there’s a $15 lunch buffet. Great spread of vegetarian and non-veg dishes. Even dessert is provided 😱 Service is not the best, you might have to clear empty dishes yourself, and the naan station might not always be manned, but if you ask, the staff are very willing to help. Great effort :) meats are halal as confirmed by staff. Would recommend 👍🏻

A family run amazing restaurant. The ambience is very simple but the food taste delicious! The owner is one of the most amazing hosts I have met. Gentle and very humble ready to help you make decision about what food would be the best choice. Amazing!!!!!!

We love the experience. The food is absolutely delicious, but what makes everything awesome is the service. The server understood we were not very good with spicy food and helped us order delicious food. Tony, the juice man, has the best cocktails and mocktails. Just tell him what you like and trust, he will come with something awesome. To finish with the Golden Key, ask Tony for his homemade popsicle. You won't regret it.

One of the best restaurants in all of Ottawa! Excellent south Indian and Sri Lankan resto with some modern touches; the cooks here are stellar. In particular, the sampler platter, dosa and shrimp dish were scrumptious 😋

I went there with my two foriegn friends and we ordered mutton string hopper kottu, beef kottu roti, parata with pol sambal, mango jelly and coconut milk drink, Sri Lankan tea and Mango juice. Service time is okay and portion size is good for a person. Authentic Sri Lankan flavours were there. Kottu were savoury and spicy. My friends enjoyed it well. Drinks also had unique flavours. If you are going there better to have a reservation as it can be flooded with customers sometimes.

If you are looking for authentic Sri Lankan food then this is your place. Tony was very warm and welcoming. He suggested dishes based on our cravings and mood and just made our whole dining experience memorable. Malhar too was very thoughtful and kind. We are from Ontario and I must say that their Coconut Sambol is the best and they give it in good quantity. Also- don’t forget to try their non alcoholic drinks, one with hibiscus and the other with coconut milk- Just mind blowing! I’m definitely coming back here when around and I want to thank you both Tony and Malhar for the wonderful hospitality.

Great service, delicious 😋 food and amazing atmosphere. The owner is so generous and kept bringing free items off the menu to try . I highly recommend this place especially for ppl on a gluten free and vegan diet ❤️.

Went on a family business trip to Ottawa, and decided to eat at this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The service was exceptional as all staff members, including the current owner (at current time), were all very friendly and made sure to check up on us every so often. The food was extremely delicious, and the prices for most of the dishes was justified. This is our go to stop now whenever we want to have very good food and service in Ottawa.

Warm welcomes beautiful atmosphere refreshing drinks yummy filling masala dosa and most recommended Ceylon coffee…. must visit!…… thank you brother Tony for making me feel at home!

This restaurant has a very homely atmosphere. I am absolutely fascinated by their performance. Each of these dishes is very healthy. One of my favorite dishes is "Chicken Paland'. Highly Recommended.

One of the best Sri Lankan restaurants I have ever been to!!! Must try the Roast Beef and the Mutton Roll ( It’s Halal if you are concerned) Beef was so tender and delicious you really can eat it by itself, even steamed rice or breads can go with it. The best Mutton roll I ever had, so delicious, you won’t understand without trying. Beware it’s not a Dosa place, so it’s not their specialty. I tried Chicken biriyani as well, they gave good amount of meat but the taste was very average, I wouldn’t recommend that. Finally customer service was amazing; I felt you may want to reserve in advance as the place gets busy very quickly.

Super Nice restaurant. I experienced Sri Lankan Restaurant first time, and got lucky to be in this restaurant, referred by my family and friends. But it was way better than what they told me about it. Owner is amazing person, he feeds you so good. If you let him decide food for you, you will even enjoy the food more. He knows exactly what you will like in his restaurant. As far as cost is concerned don't even look what you are paying as food is luxury and way better than what you are paying for. You will love to pay more than the bill you will get. His thali and small parathas he served as appetizer to us was amazing and I never had that before. Once again thanks for such a amazing experience in food business.

Absolutely the best food, let alone Indian food, we have ever eaten. The homemade sauces are packed with flavors. The bread is decadent and perfect for mopping up every drop of sauce. Allow the owner to make suggestions for you. He will not disappoint. I can't thank him enough for our special meal.! Happy 25th anniversary Ceylonta!

Absolutely Superb! I didn't want to eat-in because of the COVID situation, so I opted for a take-out of classic South Indian/Sri Lankan Vegetarian Thali, which is a combination of several different Vegey dishes & rice. I must emphasis that I was quite impressed with the authenticity, quantity and, above all else, the quality of this classic Sri Lankan cuisine.

A wonderful restaurant in downtown Ottawa serving great Sri Lankan food. Every flavourful dish will leave an impression on you. The mutton rolls/cutlets appetizer and devilled chicken were particularly delicious.

Went here for an event with friends and had amazing service and Delicious food! We tried lots of sri lankan dishes and everything was cooked fantastically. We Also tried some of there speciality drinks and were Very happy with everything from this experience. 10/10!

We came there for a takeout and were pleasantly surprised by the welcome. These are very friendly people and the made us feel welcome very fast. We know Indian food but not necessarily Skri Lanka, the proprietors created a mix for us that was delicious! Butter chicken, spiced shrimps and another chicken dish with various accompaniments that were all tasty and hot. We even have some leftovers! The portions are great and the taste is great also. Worthwhile visit and we are keeping this address for future visit in Ottawa, because we’ll have to try it again in the restaurant. For me it was as good as the best Indian restaurants that we have in Montreal.

Always friendly, always fresh and so flavourful. The staff is so amazing and kind. I’ve tried at least 10 different dishes on the menu and everything has been absolutely phenomenal. Dine in to enjoy the cute atmosphere. A must try!

Wow wow wow!! Amazing food and even better service! We were seated and greeted right away by the chef. As it was our first time and did not know what to order, the chef asked us questions on our food preferences and offered to select and prepare items from the menu that he believed we would enjoy. Let me tell you, he was spot on. Every dish was prepared exquisitely and was mouth watering delicious. Arguably the best restaurant I’ve been to. Do yourself a favour and try this restaurant!

We're originally from Toronto but had dinner at Ceylonta 4 years ago and since then have regularaly spoken about how good the food was at this place. We're currently in Ottawa for the Civic Long Weekend 2022 and the first place we went back to was Ceylonta. The food is nothing short of amazing the spices and flavor never disappoint and the people working there are some of the friendliest and kindest I've ever met... It was like visiting an old friend. If you live in Ottawa or are just visiting I can't recommend this place enough.

This is my favourite Ottawa restaurant for getting together with friends and sharing an amazing meal. We went last night as it’s been a few years and we were so happy to see that the service and quality of the food and experience is just as we remembered. We were 4 women, and we had more than enough food and drinks and desert and the bill only came to $40 each (I’ve spent that elsewhere on just a lunch!). Unbelievable value! This is a hidden gem - sadly not in the best neighbourhood (hey Ottawa, what’s going on in Centretown?!), but if you can get past the neighbourhood you will be rewarded with incredible food and service.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Ceylonta last Saturday night with my sister & brother-in-law. The service was very friendly and attentive and the food was as good as we remembered from past visits pre-pandemic. This restaurant is a great choice if you are looking for a variety of vegan, vegetarian & meat dishes to suit different tastes & diet preferences. We ordered 2 thali platters, a deviled potato dish, and the string hoppers along with 2 starters - it was more than enough food for the four of us. The atmosphere was relaxed with appropriate decor and music. We will be back!

Sri Lankan food is not the same as Indian, and has its own unique flavours. Newly renovated Ceylonta still serves fresh delicious meals as it has for 30 years, and the friendly and attentive service complete the experience.

I was craving for South-Indian food and luckily ended up in here. Trust me!! I was lucky to be there. I loved the Masala vada with spicy coconut chutney. The best Tea I’ve had in Canada in last 3 years. If you’re a south indian/ srilankan food fan, try this place!! You’re gonna love it😍

Worst Sri Lankan food. Vadai is salty and not done right. Mutton kotthu taste awful.. I can taste bad oil and so soggy. Disgusting don't cheat people with food like this.

This place is a gem for people who love spicy food! Price very reasonable. Excellent location, amicable service. For downside, the place is okay for cleanliness, but that might be my flawed perception due to low lights.
