Dine in around 3pm today, food was ok. The waitress taking order was very nice but the male waiter with long hair had an attitude with customers. He literally threw the receipt on the table, did not show a smile from the beginning to the end, even to other customers. Seems like his last day at work.

The kara-miso ramen was so tasty! It’s not really spicy at all, but every component of the dish is to die for ^_^ The noodles were thin and springy, the bamboo shoots had a nice crunchy texture, and the broth was light and flavourful! I also really like how you can get a larger or smaller bowl depending on how hungry you are (for -$1 or +$1). The service was great — they greet you when you enter and exit which can be a real mood-booster ;))

One of the best places in Toronto to get ramen. Excellent service and even better food! Menu is focused but they offer a variety of topping options. There are usually specials as well. The shio broth is probably my favourite here. The pork jowl is a must try!

Came half hour before closing and they got the food ready so quick. We got edamame and I don't think the portion is very generous for the price. But the shoyu ramen and vegetarian ramen were good.

This was my third time eating at a Hokkaido Santouka Ramen and my first time in Toronto. One of the best Ramen I have ever had! I ordered the Miso Ramen and my husband the Ship Ramen, what a dream in form of food! The broth was rich and delicious, the noodles were perfect and the staff is so nice and professional! We'll definitely come back and bring family and friends!

Went with my friends on our trip to Toronto. We ordered Spicy kara-miso Ramen, Shoyu Ramen along with Naruto and I gotta say, it was pretty damn fantastic! It had a good level of spice, it was fresh, and it was fast. It is worth the price for the food, and environment. It’s small, yet great . Great spot for Ramen!

Flavourful ramen but WAY TOO SALTY. I ALWAYS drink all my broth but this is the first ramen restaurant that I’ve been to where I simply couldn’t because of the overwhelming saltiness of the food. This was the case for both the Kara miso and Soyu ramens. The only dish that was appropriately seasoned was the small bowl of cha shiu pork belly Don that came with my combo. The bowl was delicious! But the stars of the meal were not due to too much salt. The service was great and food arrived fast but they really should taste their broth more before service. The gyozas were extremely salty as well. Not sure if they were having an off night…. But I’ll be going else where for ramen from now on🤗.

Highly recommended Ramen shop. You will definitely know why I recommend this one once you have a sip of the soup. Rich and flavourful. Regular portion is good and staff cared tables quite often. She initiated a small talk after she knew me and friends are korean. Good service and good Ramen.

Their ramen is hit and miss, sometime overly salty, but definitely very authentic, everystep is done in house. On a bright spot however, the rice bowl is good, and their version of the tantanmen is the best ever - instead of going down the normal salt and spice route, they dial down the spice, sweeten the ground pork and make the broth extra rich. It becomes a wonderful mix of three flavours.

Ramen was amazing with rich pork broth. The cha shu rice was flavourful but less sauce. We also got a pork jowl appetizer which was so tender and juicy. The only complaint is bowls are a little small but flavours are there.

Honestly my favourite ramen in Toronto. And that’s saying a lot!! The noodles remind me the most of actual Japanese noodles, which makes sense, the place is pretty authentic. The customization of your ramen is also pretty Japanese. Though it can get cramped in there and you may be touching elbows with other people, I’d say it’s worth it because everyone is busy enjoying their meals. I tend to go there for a quick bite when I’m downtown, I HIGHLY recommend tsukemen, the best men there is.

We had a Bowl of Tsukemen and Karamiso in combination with a bowl of grilled salmon. Overall the ramen was good but not mind-blowing, a bit disappointed by the overcooked eggs. For sure they have a very wide and interesting selection on their menu tho. Service was very caring. We were looked after by several servers, and all of them did an excellent job, especially Yoshi-kun, who gave us several explanations and insights about our meal.

I got the vegetarian kale ramen with tofu on the side. It was really good! And the service was amazing! The waiters were all very friendly and quick. I would go back to try the spicy vegetarian :) Thank you!

I am more than happy to provide you with a positive review of your experience with Hokkaido Ramen. From the sounds of it, my meal was truly enjoyable and left you satisfied. Let me share my thoughts on the order. Starting with my Shio Ramen and Ikura Bowl Combo, the combination of the two dishes sounds like an excellent choice. The Shio Ramen is known for its light and refreshing taste, while the salmon roe in the Ikura Bowl is a flavorful addition that complements the ramen nicely. The freshness of the roe adds a burst of umami that elevates the dish, making it a perfect pairing with the ramen. It is great to see that the combination was well-executed, and you enjoyed it. Moving onto my husband's Kara-Miso Ramen XL size, this is an excellent choice for those who prefer a slightly bolder flavor. The miso paste adds a rich and savory flavor to the broth, while the chili paste in the Kara-Miso Ramen adds a spicy kick that adds depth to the overall taste. The XL size is also a great option for those who want a more filling meal. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Hokkaido Ramen. The quality of the food was excellent, and the dishes were prepared well. The combination of flavors in each dish was well thought out, and the portion sizes were generous. I would highly recommend trying Hokkaido Ramen to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine, and I am sure that they would enjoy it as much as you did.

The meat in the soup is pretty salty and my friend got one for herself and hers also salty… i got the free soup for my Dipping noodles and it was like milky colour but tasted like water.i tried different noodles from the restaurant before and it wasn’t this salty or bad but yea dunno why. There’s line up on lunch or dinner time.

What can I say…. Other then this is my favorite ramen anywhere. This is constantly my standard for judging all other ramen places until I find something better…. What I love more, is the consistency of this place— it’s been a little over 6 years since my last visit to Toronto, and yet this place is exactly the way I remember. Their broth is incredible on its own and their marinated eggs are my favorite!

Small place, different kind of ramen. It was good but not the best. The egg was an additional because they don’t come with egg. The spicy ramen wasn’t spicy but was tasty

THE best ramen! I loved everything about their spicy ramen. It's so good! Portions are big, they allow to upgrade to large for extra 1$. Dine-in is pretty small and has a line to eat in the evening. But it's worth it (or you can try take out)

Food is still too salty for my liking. The Miso ramen has a smoky taste, not sure if it was international but was quite interesting. Good for a quick mea. They have lunch rushes so come early or right when they open!

Minus the huge waiting line, the food here is good. I wonder why they don’t take reservations instead of making people wait in the cold for good 30-45 mins. Probably a marketing strategy. Good ramen and friendly staff. Weird that the Ramen didn’t come with eggs.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is the popular Toronto ramen outpost originated from Japan. The broth is excellently crafted with rich pork and smoky flavours. Noodles are perfectly cooked and have a nice chew. Staff are friendly and attentive, the food came out. My this is my favourite ramen spot in Toronto.

Excellent ramen restaurant very close to the Dundas Sqare and Eaton Centre. Went with the ChaShu roce bowl&ramen combo with Shio Ramen, upsize ramen to Large. The portions were actually good, this was the first Canadian Ramen restaurant I've been to where I didn't feel scammed by a tiny portion size. The rice bowl went well as a side dish and tasted even better with a dash of ramen broth in it. The egg is not soft boiled so that might deter some customers, but flavour-wise, everything was spot on. This was really one of my more enjoyable Downtown Toronto ramen restaurant visits. I highly recommend. The combo was $21.95 CAD (roughly, I forgot exact number) and + $1.50 CAD for large size. I recommend getting large since the small seems too small? Portion was sufficient once paired with the rice side dish.

Yum! Food was very tasty with a good variety, including a vegetarian creamy miso and spicy miso option. The price for the amount is fair, and the service was very quick. I tried the seasonal ginger ramen - refreshing ginger taste in the broth with a light spiciness with a good amount of toppings and noodles.

I've been here a few times, starting back in 2014. It has never been anything but excellent. Today, I had the medium-sized miso tonkotsu and, as usual, delicious. Excellent broth, very nicely textured noodles, delicious chashu, and black fungus mushroom. It is a smaller place with small tables, and the menu, in a way, is more limited than a lot of other ramen restaurants, and I like that about it. They specialize in white tonkotsu ramen, and if you go there and feel intimidated, it's really a simple choice. Do you want your broth with just salt, soy, miso, or chilies and miso. They do have additional ways you can order your ramen and they do have gyoza and you can even add an egg if you want, but if you want a simple bowl of excellent ramen that is very well prepared, it is a great choice. And if you do want to make customizations, they are absolutely a place that can accommodate you as well.

Small cozy space serving up traditional Japanese dishes that are so delicious you are transported back to Japan with every bite. They have a great menu that has something to offer everyone. The food is flavourful delicious. It's served hot and fast. Portions are perfect and prices fair. Must try one of their ramens and if you have a sweet tooth enjoy a scoop of matcha ice cream before heading out. With line ups out the door this is the place to see and eat! You are in for a treat! Bon apetite

Service is good, ramen is typical ramen and I found it a bit too expensive. The large size isn’t really large so regular size is definitely too small.

Classic Ramen spot. Good options and fast service. I like to try the seasonal specials, so on the weekend had the "Autumn Special" and it was amazing. Perfect comfort food. Plus discovered Dark Sapporo 🤩

My family had our dinner here last week. We were 2nd on the line and had only waited for about 5mins. When we got in, they immediately asked us of we need baby chair, they also provided us with cutleries for my baby and toddler. We ordered edamame, Spicy Miso Ramen and Tonkutsu Chasu men. Great food, great place and thumbs up for the service.

The last time I was here I had lunch special. I totally agree with some reviews, broth here is up to high standards, very thick and flavoury. For lunch special they give you small bowl of ramen, three gyozas and one pickled egg. I would say it's more than enough for lunch. Price could be a little bit lower but I'm still okay to pay this amount for a good ramen lunch. Personnel here is awesome, fast and friendly. And the music, lunch goes way better if it accompanied with Dixieland jazz.

Very good ambience and friendly staff. The service was quick. Menu was easy to understand. About the food: I ordered the spicy veggie ramen, it had thick, creamy rich broth. Not that spicy enough. Celery in ramen was an odd combination and it didn’t taste that good. Veggie gyoza was too salty and when combined with soy sauce, it tasted extreme . Little pricey ended up paying 31$ including 18% tip for a lunch combo.

First time back in a while Still as good as i remember. Lineup is usually long; and would not recommend if you arnt the type to wait for food. The ramen broth isnt too salty, but still has deep enough flavour. The combo is nice for someone like me.

Wow! One of the best, if not the best ramen place I’ve had! The service was so efficient, attentive, and sweet. The combo meal was a great bang for my buck imo. It came with a bowl of rice and ramen. The ramen was incredibly flavourful and noodles were the perfect texture! The salmon rice bowl I got was delicious as well. Atmosphere was inviting and aesthetic. It’s definitely a spot I recommend trying :)

Looks like a very authentic place for ramen, but personally been in better ones. Either way the ramen was good and the large comes with a lot of food, so if you eat a lot go for it. Gyōzas were superb!

Food is always hot and delicious. Well worth the price you pay. As soon as the open, there is a line up to get in, but so worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and helpful - though it's always busy, they do not rush and allow you to savour the food.

  • 3/5 Culinary S. 2 years ago on Google
Loved the noodles, amazing texture. The pork was tender and tasty. The corn was sweet and crunchy, the wood-ear mushrooms were perfect. But we didn’t like the broth, and since that’s one of the two key ingredients in ramen it’s hard to get past that. The broth had a pronounced flavour of “seafood”; perhaps they just use more kelp and bonito than other spots. It was leas pronounced in the spicy miso, and more obvious in the shoyu. While it wasn’t to our taste, other people might love it. Unfortunately we won’t be repeating.

  • 5/5 Chris L. 2 years ago on Google
Always love coming here. The spicy Miso soup, the perfect seasoned pork cheek, the noodles with the best texture and the fish cake with the pink swirls. All of that with the seasoned egg. All worth it. The staff is ALWAYS friendly. The experience is always good. One of my favorite places to have lunch when working .

  • 5/5 Holly N. 1 year ago on Google
So yummy ramen comes with different selection of pork! You also can customize how salty the soup is. They don’t have big seating area so during dinner time, I recommend to came early as first come first serve and no reservation available

  • 4/5 Abhinav 1 year ago on Google
After reading the appreciations and reviews I decided to give this place a visit. The restaurant is quiet small with chirpy ambiance, considering it's crowded. I tried their kara Miso ramen and dimsum. The ramen was simply amazing with flavourful broth, pork was soft and well cooked, overall delicious. Pork Dimsum tasted nice, fresh n juicy. Service was about average, may be due to full tables, but I would definitely recommend this place for the delicious food.

By far the best ramen restaurant in the entire city; it doesn’t even come close. Been here countless times, and the quality of food and service is consistently impeccable. The service is welcoming and to the point, the atmosphere is bustling and authentic, and the food is truly outstanding! Every bite is bursting with rich flavour and the pork just melts in your mouth. At just $20 per bowl, you leave fully satisfied without breaking the bank. This place is a treasure in Toronto.

A great place to enjoy a Japanese cuisine in the heart of Downtown Toronto. Limited seats being offered so make sure you do a reservation or visit the restaurant off-peak hours. Love to come back to try other dishes. Service is great. Washroom should be checked regularly.

Had the veggie spicy ramen and tofu salad, both nice. Only negative is there isn’t much option for me being a pescatarian so if I went back I’d order basically the same, which is a shame

  • 3/5 Yunhan L. 1 year ago on Google
Food was too salty. For the Gyoza, the saltiness of the filling was overpowering everything else. Ramen broth was very rich but again, too salty. They could have also been more generous with the meat. Service was pretty fast and our server was enthusiastic.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a fantastic restaurant that offers authentic Japanese ramen dishes that are sure to satisfy your cravings. From the moment you step in, you are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that transports you to Japan. One of the standout dishes at Santouka is their signature Shio Ramen, which is a delicate and flavorful broth that is made using premium ingredients. The broth is simmered for hours, resulting in a rich and savory flavor that is perfectly balanced with the tender slices of char siu pork, bamboo shoots, and other fresh ingredients. The noodles are cooked to perfection and have a great texture that complements the broth well. In addition to their Shio Ramen, Santouka also offers a variety of other delicious ramen dishes such as Shoyu Ramen, Miso Ramen, and Spicy Miso Ramen. They also have a great selection of appetizers, including gyoza and takoyaki, which are a great way to start your meal. The service at Santouka is top-notch, with the staff being friendly, helpful, and attentive to your needs. They take great care to ensure that your dining experience is enjoyable and comfortable, making you feel like a valued customer. Overall, Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a must-visit restaurant for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Japanese ramen dishes. The food is top-notch, the service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. If you haven't tried it yet, make sure to add Santouka to your list of must-visit restaurants!

I have enjoyed this global chain elsewhere before Toronto. I'd say the quality in Toronto is still really good. The broth was both rich and flavorful, I do enjoy my chashu being on the fatty side. The tables are really close by so it can feel a little squishy and you do have to wait for your whole party to arrive before they seat you.

This is my favourite ramen place in the city! You can ask to adjust the lard and salt levels in your broth to make it lighter or extremely rich and creamy. Their noodles are cooked to perfection and their bowls are all reasonably priced.

  • 4/5 X. Hou (. 1 year ago on Google
Quite nice place to go for a quick meal. Classic ramen place - table is very close. You can join other people’s conversation with no problem. Ordered a combo, with both rice and noodle. Not too salty, but noodle is a little bit undercooked… ( server didn’t ask. I should’ve told them … ) Soup is good , lots of flavour. Will be back for sure. Want to try different ones.

One of the more authentic Japanese ramen places in Toronto. The restaurant has limited seating and it’s a first come basis. The service was quick and polite. The dishes we had to try here were -Kara-miso Ramen (10/10) good flavour, plus quality toppings -Shio Ramen (7/10) really rich in flavour as it was too overwhelming for myself. As we also did a double portion. -Aji-Tama *seasoned egg* (10/10) cooked perfectly and great pairing with any of the ramen dishes. I also like the ability of adjusting how cooked the noodles can be, how salty, and amount of lard. The restaurant was also clean, as for the bathroom there can be more better maintenance.

What makes this place better than any other ramen place in town is a delicious concentrated broth. Can't really say about other things, the portion (medium bowl) seemed a bit smaller than it's usually at other places with the same price tags.

  • 4/5 Tris 9 months ago on Google
Got the regular miso ramen. It was smaller than expected but it was pretty decent. The taste was rich. It was a decent temperature (ie. not scalding hot, but not cool either). There could be more meat though.

Best ramen I’ve had in the city! For those looking for a ramen broth with actual flavour, this is your place! The kara miso ramen had the perfect amount of seasoning & spice ratio and the pork was delicious and tender. They also had a good selection of alcohol to choose from. My only wish was that the meat size would be a little bigger or that it came with an egg!
