I've been searching for the best ramen in Montreal and my search is finally over. Don't bother visiting anywhere else - this is as close as you can get to an authentic ramen joint. I was lucky to come on a rainy Monday night as there weren't too many people in line, but it was a full house nonetheless. While I had to wait about 15 min for my order to come, it was impressive to watch the way all the staff working so efficiently like a factory line. There was someone in charge of cooking the broth and the noodles, another person to put the meat and garnishing, another person to serve the bowls etc. When my ramen was placed before me, the aroma of the tonkatsu broth immediately pulled me in. My eyes were then drawn the the HUGE slices of chashu. By the time I had a mouthful of the noodles that were perfectly al dente, I knew this was a winner. The broth was not too heavy and it was the right balance of deep flavour and lightness. Unlike other ramen places that go overboard with the salt and MSG, I didn't feel parched or too full. In fact, I wanted more after I was done! The only thing I could have done without was the karaage. It was crispy and good, but not as wow-worthy of the ramen. I would have traded that for additional toppings instead. In terms of vibes, the whole place reminded me of a hole-in-the-wall ramen joint in Japan with the decor and counter style seating (there are a few tables behind). While seating is very limited, I promise you it's worth the wait!

I was here for solo lunch. I arrived around 12pm and sat at the bar. Not too busy at that time but did start to get busy while I was eating. Love this place - food ambience service - will be back next time I am in Montreal. I had the Korokke (potato croquette) starter which came in an order of 2. Crunchy on the outside and buttery soft on the inside garnished with thinly julienned carrots green scallion bits and topped with a tangy yummy sauce. The main I had was the Tonkotsu (pork broth) ramen with thin noodles and pork shoulder topped with scallion seaweed and with a half marinated ramen egg (ajitama). Condiments provided on the side included benishoga (thin strips of pickled ginger) and chili oil, also sesame seeds. I haven’t seen these provided at other ramen restaurants before and will surely ask for them - makes such a difference brings out the flavours ! The broth was superb. Creamy not too salty. The noodles were just the right amount of chewy. The pork shoulder was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Everything was generously portioned. The restaurant interior felt like I was in Japan somewhere, not Montreal. Staff were super friendly. My favourite ramen resto too bad they are not in Toronto! Will be back also yo try sister restaurant (next door same building) Ichigo Ichie for Japanese tapas and cocktails).

Best Japenese ramen in Montreal✨ 📍Yokato Yokabai Ramen 4185 R. Drolet, Montréal, QC H2W 2L5 ✨I really blame my friend for not bringing me to this ramen earlier! We were really lucky to arrive at 12:30pm on a weekday and still got two seats at the bar without a wait! I heard there's usually a line at meal times on weekdays. (Thank goodness) 🍜The menu is very simple, there are not many things, topping can be self-selected, ramen seems to have only four flavors, soup can choose salty or light, green onions can also choose (this I like). I've heard that the fried chicken is very good, so I'm going to try it next time I'm there. We chose the Tonkotsu Noodle (19$) with a piece of seaweed, half an egg, and two large pieces of noodle meat. It was really flavorful, and I added tofu and my friend added bamboo shoots, both of which were great. It's a very good dish, so you can enjoy it!

Underwhelmed, expensive, and not worth the long wait. We had tonkotsu with pork and chicken. Neither were adequately seasoned. The broth was quite bland. The texture of the noodles was good. The karaage was acceptable although carried by the sauce. Overpriced for 4 pieces. There are better chain ramen options as well as options in other cities that outrank this place, sadly.

Insane ramen which fully exceeded all expectations I had based on the hype of this place. Well worth the wait, but suggest going for lunch to beat the crowds. I haven’t had ramen this good since a salaryman-filled hole in the wall in Kyoto. The broth is so incredibly flavoured, the noodles are absolute perfection and even the pork in the ramen was marinated with some sort of sweetness. The croquettes are to die for (we ate them so quickly I totally forgot to take a photo) and the karaage was phenomenal with some of the best sauce I’ve ever seen paired with it (photo is one piece less than what arrived as we couldn’t help ourselves from tasting). The food is absolutely a 100/10 and can’t wait to go back to try to other menu items. Note that the ramen side is currently closed for renovations, so we ate on the other side. The service was a bit all over the place (eg. got our beers after our first appetiser was out) but still recommend this place nonetheless. If you’re going to eat ramen anywhere in Montreal and want a true Japanese dish, make sure to stop in here.

Great ramen place. The broth was delicious. I like the fact that you can choose less salty, because most ramen places have broths that are too salty. We had the karaage and takoyaki as appetizers. The karaage was hot and crispy. The takoyaki melted in our mouths. Loved the decor and layout. Their only fault is that service was a bit slow.

Yokato Yokabai is probably the closest thing to authentic Japanese ramen in Canada and I’m so sad it’s all the way in Montreal because I want to eat this everyday!! It’s not only the ramen that’s bomb, but the apps too!! - veggie tempura: perfectly cooked, not oily at all - takoyaki: perfect tako to yaki ratio, a lil crithpy on the outside 🤌 - okonomiyaki: literally the BEST, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, tons of filling, love the pickled ginger for the crunch UGH chef’s kiss - korokke: i looooove croquettes and this place nails crispy outside, fluffy inside foods - eggplant: once again perfectly cooked, the green onion tsuyu sauce just knocked it out of the park tho!! Mains wise: - ramen: obviously!! loved that everything was customizable, the tonkotsu broth was thicc but not too oily and heavy, and they were sooo generous with all the portions, esp the toppings!! And the meat was so good too, the pork shoulder actually tasted so smoky and tender i literally cried 🥹 why isnt ramen in toronto this good UGH - carbonara: i only had a bite but it was a japanese take on carbonara (italians look away!!!) with cream and ramen noodles, yummy but not my style, a bit too heavy for me! The drinks were also BOMB, we both got shiso based drinks and they were so yummy, generous amounts of alc in them 🥴 Overall if you’re ever in Montreal this is a must try!! We’ve gone every time we go to Montreal and will continue the tradition! They dont do resos and have a break between lunch and dinner so I recommend going at open or late night for the least amount of waiting possible!

Yum! Ramen was delicious. The atmosphere is quite interesting, especially the seating & how much there is. I recommend getting there early. They use a waitlist system that texts your phone once your table is ready. The menu is straightforward. Personally, it seems to be lacking. But overall, it was a great meal.

First I'd like to say that the entrance looks really sketchy at night. If I wasn't meeting friends, I would never have guessed this was a restaurant. However, they do have another better entrance, but it's under another restaurant name, yet you can order the same food. They don't take reservations. Even during a weekday, we waited for over 30min. And you have to sign up on the tablet for the waiting list. The place is really, really small. At least the food was good. I liked the Korokee and the ramen. Not a big fan of the takoyaki.

Came here for a late dinner. Love the idea of customizing the ramen when ordering. Sadly, the broth was just warm and not hot. Other than that, the broth was nice and rich. Using the chicken thighs as chashu was a nice touch, super juicy! Noodles had a great bite to them.

Broth and noodles were yummy~ The pork felt a bit hard but the amount you get is pretty generous. I would recommend getting the thick noodles just to change it up a bit! The thick noodles are kind of instant ramen size so they aren't as thick but the taste is supposedly different versus the thin based on what the server mentioned. The takoyakis were pretty hot so you want to wait a bit before eating them. Very crispy and chewy! There was a ton of flakes added on top too

We just ate there for lunch, we were a little group, so we had to wait a little bit before having our seats, this place doesn’t take any reservation…. But let me tell you, THAT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. The service was good, our server was quick and had an excellent memory, memorized every order of drinks and every demand that we had. But the food… WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a good bowl of ramen noodles.

(5/5) For everything. The service was really good, the server was really pretty. And they gave us a complimentary drink due their renovation. The broth was well seasoned and creamy, the tokontsu was delicious which is the most special dish. The sides like the takoyaki were normal and tasted like any other.

I went a Monday evening and it was quite busy as we had to add ourselves to their virtual waiting list. The place was very packed as we were going to have to wait over an hour to sit. We ended up sitting at the bar area instead. The place is a little small and there was not that much room overall . The guy at the bar was very friendly and gave us a good service. The ramen was good quality and you can customize it with the order sheet. They are generous with the meat portion and their chicken teriyaki was very good. They also have many interesting options excluding the ramens . They also give extra dressings on the side for the ramens which was a nice feature as well . Their cocktails were good and they have many unique options.

Nice restaurant and good food. Expect an hour waiting so you can get your table. They don't have anyone at the entrance, only a tablet that you have to sign in.

Ramen lovers unite ! Here is the perfect place to enjoy handmade ramen, home-made broth (veggie and non veggie), and a solid choice of fresh ingredients. No reservation possible, visit outside of 'high traffic' hours if you don't want to wait.

Cute spot for ramen. The food was a little overpriced but all in all a good experience. I loved being able to choose the saltiness level of the dish. Also the service was great. They do not take reservations and there’s only a small seating area so I would make sure to go on a weekday or early on a weekend. The chicken soup base was delicious and I wish I tried the thicker noodles. All in all, a great dining experience.
