We all think the reviews are overrated. The food was so so, the portion are so tiny that you are not going to get full. They are very pricey for the quality of Yakitori you get. The taste is definitely not like Japan, and I, as Japanese, don’t recommend. Some chicken thighs were not cooked through. The attitude of the servers were so bad that you feel Uncomfortable and Unwelcome. No smile and they are very rude, unhappy workers We have never felt this bad in any other restaurants for a while. They need to improve their customer service skill and be more polite.

My go-to place for great food and drinks! Can become crowded during peak hours and the resto is pretty small so make a reso online to secure a table! My partner and I always go for the Otto set, grilled squid and chicken karaage. However, I tried their gyudon and lamb for the first time this week and both so delicious! I also got their matcha cheesecake that was on the special’s menu - loved it. Rich, creamy and not too sweet. Overall, the food is always fresh and tasty. I’ve been many times and never disappointed. Definitely recommend this place!

I was really happy to see that there is an izakaya here in Montreal, which I totally didn’t expect, especially with food being this good! We enjoyed everything we ordered but definitely get the Chicken Karaage, which I call Japanese style fried chicken as a Taiwanese. They open pretty late too, so it’s a perfect place for late night hangouts!

Still tasty. But portions have gotten smaller - hence value has gone down. Look at this comparison of the uni chawanmushi from tonight vs a few years ago… The portion used to almost be the size of the little dish they provide for each person. Now it’s a little cup half the size… Biden’s got nothing on Trudeau - inflation in Canada is crazy!! I keep missing Miss Coco - without her, service is stiff and a bit cold. Lacking the soul of before. Still a good spot, and a favorite in Montréal.

A tiny place right outside Guy Concordia St. Mathieu exit and it's so cozy with an ambient atmosphere. Brussel sprouts in the starters is our favorite as it is so well made. I personally love the lamb and the veggies here and get it in skewers all the time. Their chicken dishes are also delicious. It's a 10/10 for me in terms of the food and service.

Ordered a few skewers, chicken wings were soft... low lit lights didn't allow to see if the chicken was cooked or not. Ordered a set of Otto skewers. Again, we had the chicken wings, but this time round, we checked, and it was raw. Even though knowing the skewers were under and RAW. Paid for the meal. And the waitress was, instead of apologetic was upset we didn't tip. And had told them the food was raw. Raw chicken isn't a joke. Maybe have the chefs checked out to see if they know how to cook chicken properly or any other food items to avoid our food POISONING we had last night. customers shouldnt or need to require to tell you that food is raw especially when its was the 2nd time round of ordering. On top of that our 2nd order was forgotten. What an absolute joke. Don't be all sour because we didn't tip. Seek your manager or owner and deal with it umonsg yourselves. In this situation, the meal shouldn't even be charged. Have a little more professionalism and reflec on your customer service skills and health and food safety for customers who attend the restaurant.

Otto is a great place to go to when you feel like grabbing a drink and having a taste of Japan. It's dishes are always well portioned and fresh. My favorite is the gyoza that they have created here. Very crispy, savory and Delicious 😋

The food was very good! The skewers were the highlight of the night and we ordered so many of them. The bibimbap tastes different from other restaurants, but it was still delicious. The ambience is fun and friendly. However, we were unlucky to be seated next to a group of tipsy/drunk people. They were so loud we couldn't hear each other talking. I would definitely come back for the skewers nonetheless.

The yakitori was great, and definitely a good drinking spot—seems very reserved after 7PM, but the dishes lack an oomph to actual Japanese food or Izakayas in Japan. The interior design is great though. The yakitori might’ve needed more sauce, only salt to taste on it, and the gyuudon sauce tastes a little too similar yakitori sauce. The lamb skewers were very good, not fatty compared to other shops here. Hot tea was just Oolong who like hot drinks btw.

Get Ready To Spend! This was my First Time eating Japanese Cuisine and with that in mind,I loved their take on foods I was already familiar with;the Bacon and Poached Egg tasted great although the dish being cold was a curveball. The Chicken wings tasted amazing and I would've had more if it didn't feel expensive. The Squid was a new texture for me,but overall,I enjoyed the adventure my palette took.I do wish that the portions were mentioned before we ordered because we spent a MacKenzie King and we didn't even feel halfway full. Other than that,I enjoyed my experience at Otto. I would recommend investing if you can :)

went here for dinner on a saturday evening. we tried the fried eggplant as an appetizer, and lamb skewers + chicken skin skewers + truffle fried chicken. the food was all delicious, nothing we didn’t like, and the lamb skewers are a must try. the service was quick, didn’t have to wait long for a table or the meal. overall a great experience :)

AMAZING spot to eat yakitori. The charred meats are so delicious and tender. Highly recommend taking the 6 set kushi yaki and the mushrooms

A lovely japanese pub to hang out with friends. The place might be a little bit small, but it's quite cozy and well decorated. It's busy and the wait can be long so reservation is a must. They were obviously understaffed. The skewers were delicious and packed with flavors. The Curry Don was aromatic, but not too strong. The Gamjatang was a little bit too oily, but the white rice was there to balanced things out. We had a good time overall.

It felt like being back in Tokyo to get some yakitori (but with much more space to sit and enjoy a drink after work). The service was friendly and fast. Their menu offers lots of options and not just yakitori. I tried the bibimbap and really enjoyed it. I totally recommend this place.

Cosy place. Great and warm service. The food is tasty. Diversity in the menu. We tried the cocktail of the day. Peachy and refreshing. One and only regret: the duck. A bit overcooked and not as tasty as the other skewers. For the price, it's a no no for me... I Will go back with pleasure to try the other dishes. I highly recommend

Good to experience Japanese culture in Montreal. I recommend going with a group of 4-6 to try as the food is not your common food you eat daily. The quality is good. The service was not the best.

The ambiance and the food are juste magnificent, one of the best japanese flavour in town. We went there after 11 pm and ordered a bunch. The waiting time was around 10mins. But one thing to note is that they don't serve main meals (don rice or ramen) after 11 pm. Also, if you want to order yakitori, don't order a bunch of them in one shot, it's better to order a small plate and then finish it before order another one , otherwise the yakitoris will get cold very quickly and the flavor will be seriously compromised.

Food was exceptional! All the yakitori we tried blew us away. Highly suggest trying the premium and otto set yakitori. Goes well with a bottle of peach soju! Service was amazing and staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back.

Chicken wings were good Beef tongue was good Lamb was good Chicken skin was fried, not grilled BUT chicken gizzard and chicken heart were raw. Not just a little pink in the center, but raw. Our server informed the kitchen and told us “the organs are supposed to be medium. Since you didn’t like it, we will take them off.” I’m no expert. But this is the first time out of all the yakitori places that I’ve been told this. So if you don’t like raw organs either, this is not the place for you.

This place is the best Korean BBQ place I’ve tried in Montreal so far. A little bit pricey, but totally worth it. I suggest you to try Karubi and Black Angus, these are my two favorites. The fried squid is also great. And don’t forget to try their fruit sojo drink (not sure about the pronunciation😅)

Understaff and welll served. Food was just amazing, one of my new fav place to go now. The skewers were divine, I recommand the pork belly, just wow. The soup was amazing, kaarage was good too. We ordered a pitcher of a white drink with lemon and soju, its super tasty. I really recommend that place for s gathering with friends (smalll group) or a date.

Food was great. Service wasn't bad. But the atmosphere, there was a bunch of absolutely obnoxious customers that wouldn't stop yelling and bla bla bla, they ruined the whole experience. I wasn't impressed because of that.

A wonderful place to enjoy an evening! We had a perfect night. One of the people serving was an owner. She was smiling and helpful and we had no idea she owned the place. All the staff were amazing!! Congrats on a great dining experience!

Okay. This might be the best yakitori I've had in North America thus far. LOL. Each yakitori was simple and perfectly cooked. They not only managed to recreate the seasonings and simple marinades but also the exact smokey, charcoal taste. The squid was also the best squid I've ever had, and I dont even like squid that much ; it wasn't overly chewy and perfectly tender. Okay but Im also SO glad I got the Truffle Karage. It was the perfect fusion of French and Japanese cuisine. The karage was perfectly fried and its marinade was subtle enough to complement the non-overwhelming amount of truffle oil. As my bf says : "Yakitori and mac miller? What else can u ask for?" (The music was fuego)

Very nice place! Me and My wife just walked in off the street and they were very kind to serve us quickly. Their food was also really really good. Will be back here when I visit Montreal again.

Came here for late night bites and drinks. We got the karaage, yakitori sampler and mango soju pitcher. The karaage was fried nicely but kinda misleading because there were balls of fried mashed potatoes mixed in so it's actually not as much chicken as seen in pictures. The yakitori had a nice grill aroma and flavour, but the food wasn't very hot. The chicken skin was chewy in some parts, and overall the yakitori was very mediocre. Mango soju was very light and just tasted like mango juice.

Pros: -Great vibe, -nice decor, -authentic Japanese food taste Cons: -Hard go get seats if you didn’t reserve(I went on a Monday night and it’s was full, gotta wait for half an hour), -Noisy(music and people talking so loud), -Barbecue food are burnt(as shown in photos), I’m not sure if the kitchen is as dark as the diner, but if I’m the chef I would have throw away the burnt ones and replace them, -Understaffed, obviously when you have to wait for 20 minutes to get your first cup of water after sitting down, you know they don’t have enough waiters/waitresses. 2 people serving more than 8 tables, it’s not ideal for both the waitresses and the customers.

Love the food here! The setting is westernized rather than being authentically izakaya but the yakitoti made it up. One thing to improve on is the alcohol selection. Again a real izakaya offers an extensive selection of alcoholic drinks, but herethey seem to just want to specialize in sake. The selection of Japanese boozes and beers are disappointingly lacking. So one star deducted for this.

Very average. For the food, the chicken skin & chicken thigh were great. Other than that, the beef, beef tongue and chicken heart were overcooked and bland. Price wise was acceptable. Love their Japanese style decoration!

Delicious isakaya style food with excellent service! Had 5 dishes for 2 people. Tried the wasabi squid, truffle karaage, angus don, buns and 6 kushiyakis! Everything was tasty and not too salty! As good as the first time we eent many years ago.
