I will start by saying, there is almost always a line in front, so please take this into consideration when coming here. Your reward for waiting in line is freaking amazing food plated wonderfully with honestly a great service in a cozy brunch heaven. You want fancy but also decent priced brunch? Go here! I recommend the chicken and waffles. Bonus note, great breakfast/brunch date place for your significant other.

Service: phenomenal. Upon arriving with my kid the waiter brought right away a Cookie, icing and sprinkles, to help keep my kid occupied. Also gave us a complementary little shot glass of an orange concoction. Food: amazing. Extremely generous portions. Decor: really cute retro decor. Pricing: a bit on the pricey side. A main course will run you at least $ 25+ , plus coffee etc. It'll run you about 30$ a person before tax and tip. But honestly for the experience, quality and quantity of food. It's perfectly fine. Maybe not every weekend but we all deserve a little brunch splurge once in a while. Note: it's really busy on the weekend, so don't show up at prime time, show up a bit earlier if you don't want to wait too long.

Café Janine is a fantastic brunch spot situated in the vibrant neighborhood of southwest Montreal. You can find it on Wellington Street, and it's known for its delicious breakfast choices. One standout dish is their mouthwatering fried chicken and waffles, which I surely consider to be the best in town. The Good: Delicious food, coffee and service staff. Can’t go wrong. The carrot cake is to die for. The Bad: It’s a very popular cafe so wait can be longer. Make sure you have enough time in hand if you haven’t booked your table in advance. The ugly: can’t think of anything really

One of my favorite brunch places in Montreal. Chic croissant was really good. The idea is to go there with a group of friends and share the food, cause everything is so delicious. Don't forget to always upgrade your eggs to the Scotch eggs, that's the best!

Food was very good. Really enjoyed the chicken waffles and scones and they’re two must try items on the menu. Especially the scones!!! But the 1-hr wait time in that cold weather really ruined it. Still felt cold inside especially because the door kept opening and closing and cold breeze was coming in, which made our food and coffee cold too. I’d say it’s a bit overpriced as well. (Minimum $30/person)

Very nice brunch spot in Verdun! The weekend gets more crowded, so we made a reservation during the week days. The vibe is impressive and the food is delicious. As for the afternoon tea party menu, it's a nice thing to enjoy for two people! A must try!

I came around 2:20 PM on a saturday. Got a table right away. I was welcomed with an amazing smile. I took the "chic croissant" and a latte. The meal was exquisite. Hands down One of the best i've eaten for brunch. The latte was okay. The smoothie of the Day was very delicious in a shot glass. I would have loved trying a whole glass but I was very full. I recommend 100% and Will go back very soon.

One of the best brunch place in town! Creative menu with amazing taste. I bring friends to this brunch place whenever they visit Montreal. We recommend chicken w/ waffle and egg croissant, great texture and flavour combinations.

We were visiting Montreal and came Janine Cafe on recommendation from a lovely waitress at Kamu'y thr night before. We were not dissapointed! She warned us there might be a line outside because it's so popular. However, it was drizzling but the temperature wasn't too cold, so we waited. A hostess came out and offered those standing in line some hot Peppermint tea- such a nice gesture to acknowledge the wait and valued patronage. We waited for about 20ish minutes and were seated. Our waiter was lovely. They gave us a shot of citrus herb juice, which was so refreshing and delicious. The food was rich and SO GOOD. It was beautifully plated and thr attention to detail from how things were diced to where they were placed on thr plate was well thought out. Worth the wait in line!

Very chic little restaurant. Great drink choices hot and tasty. Service was good. Menu has interesting variety - not your typical choices. The French toast was pretty good... but the toast itself a bit too thick and cake-like. The Scotch egg though - WOW!! Would go back just for that.

One of my favourite brunch places. The food is fancy and interesting, coffee is great, dessert is great. I love coming here when I can and bring all my friends who are visiting when we go for brunch. One thing I have to get when I go is a mocha latte. They make fresh marshmallow for it!!

One of the best brunch places in Montreal!! The food was delicious, the restaurant is beautiful and the staff were very attentive. Would come back anytime! They also have great gluten free options for those who are allergic and the staff treated the allergy seriously (they toast the gluten free bread in a separate toaster, warned about potential gluten items, etc).

This place is worth the hype and the wait. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was incredible. We went right before opening and still had a short wait so expect a line at all times.

Wow!! Perfect place for a romantic brunch 😍 we ordered Oeuf et Beuf (beef, running eggs, potatoes) and a slice of carrot cake. Let me say, it was a piece of art!!! The meet was unbelievably tender, eggs perfectly cooked, my matcha latte had flower petals inside and each time I took a sip, I smelled the flowers, so good! Do yourself a favor and get that carrot cake, my god!! It has a taste of honey and cinnamon, one of the best cakes in my life. The service was great too, all staff members were super friendly, got our order fast, even offered us a complimentary shot of the cocktail of the day. The only downside is that you need to wait for a table as it’s a popular spot, but it’s worth it. Well done!

Took an hour and 20 minutes to get a table. I was prepared to wait, but not this long! I was told 45 minutes and it became nearly an hour and a half. When I looked inside the restaurant there were plenty of empty spots!!! PLENTY! It’s honestly so ridiculous how long you have to wait. Though my food was very good, I won’t be back during a weekend, that’s for sure. Also my olive dip that came with the grilled cheese had a piece of olive pit inside of it which hurt my tooth.

Janine Café-Brunch is an absolute treasure nestled within the heart of the city, and I couldn't be more thrilled to have discovered it. This hidden gem offers an enchanting culinary experience that's both welcoming and unforgettable. From the moment you step through its doors, you're enveloped in a warm and cozy ambiance that sets the stage for a delightful meal. ☕️🥞🍳 The menu at Janine Café-Brunch is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. It presents an array of brunch options that cater to diverse palates, ensuring that every guest's cravings are met. Classic favorites like light and airy pancakes and perfectly cooked eggs Benedict share the spotlight with innovative creations like their signature avocado toast with a delightful twist. The thoughtful curation of the menu reflects a commitment to providing a memorable dining journey. 🥑🥐🥓 What truly impressed me beyond the menu itself was the meticulous attention to detail evident in every dish. Each plate was a canvas of vibrant colors, textures, and flavors, meticulously arranged to create a visual masterpiece. It was almost a shame to disturb the artistic presentation, but the enticing aromas and the promise of a delightful taste experience were too tempting to resist. 😍🍽️ While the food stole the show, the artisanal coffee was a revelation in itself. Brewed with precision, it exuded a depth of flavor that perfectly complemented the brunch offerings. The coffee's warmth and aromatic essence provided a wonderful contrast to the flavors on my plate. And no brunch would be complete without a touch of sweetness, which the café catered to impeccably with a tantalizing selection of pastries and desserts. 🍰☕️🥐 The dedication of the staff at Janine Café-Brunch was palpable. Their genuine warmth and hospitality transformed the experience into a personal journey. Every interaction was filled with attentiveness and a genuine desire to ensure that guests felt at home. The service was prompt and thoughtful, leaving no room for anything less than a seamless and enjoyable visit. ⏳👏 Janine Café-Brunch is nothing short of a haven for food enthusiasts seeking culinary excellence. In the midst of the bustling city, it stands as an oasis of flavors and creativity. If you're on the hunt for a place where each bite is a harmonious symphony of taste, texture, and presentation, your search ends here. With every visit, Janine Café-Brunch promises to offer an experience that's nothing short of extraordinary. 🥞🍽️👌

Excellent brunch place in the area and the quality and portion of the dishes really justifies the price (you won’t get your standard eggs, bacon and toast here). The menu is really well crafted, each time I visit I always have a debate on which dish to choose, yet always return back to the sucré-salé French toast. Consistently great, big portion, and the perfect level of sweet. Love that you get a shot of the juice of the day when you sit down. Service is always fantastic and food comes out quite quickly. Despite this, there’s always a lineup after 10am on weekends - a testament to how great the food is.

Cute brunch spot. Went on a Sunday morning and it was busy! Waited in line outside and the place was packed. Food is priced well, drinks are a bit expensive. Quality more than makes up for it though and the ambience can't be beat! For an amazing meal and some of the tastiest brunch items I've ever had Janine's is the place to be.

My first experience was last Sunday... I ordered the beef and potatoes. Their homemade marshmallows are fantastic. My meal was mouth-watering, delightful, and rich in flavors! My friend ordered the grilled cheese, YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST try their olive caramel!!! It was an exquisite mouth explosion of the best of both worlds!!! So much so, we left with two 4 oz jars that they sell!!! I don't have enough words to fully describe how amazing the whole experience was. The service was impeccable. They all took the time to check in with us, and their recommendations were spot on! Merci beaucoup à tout l'équipe qui travaille au Janine, c'était vraiment une SUPERBE après-midi!! 🫶🏼

This brunch place is definitely a must go during the weekend. It was packed with people but the waiters will give you seats very quickly. There portion of the brunch is very big and definitely worth to go. The brunch isn't too expensive, it's average between 22$ to 28$ per plate. I really liked the latkes that I ordered. It was very delicious. I would definitely come again to out some other stuff on the menu. And the restaurant is really cute and chic. Staffs were very friendly and nice.

Long wait lines on the weekends so be prepared for that. Food was delicious although a bit pricey if you add their signature egg. Came up to about 50$ after tax and tips. The hot chocolate in a cup was delicious. Definitely Worth trying

Very tasty and delicious, food looked pretty and the place is nicely decorated. Would recommend it more for a special occasion since it's a bit pricey. But would totally go back.

  • 4/5 Sabrina A. 2 years ago on Google
Very cute place, I liked the atmosphere. They have a very different kind of brunch menu, which I thought was interesting. The food was pretty good, but it could have been better, especially seeing as how we had to wait a half hour for our food. Presentation was nice. I'd say it's worth checking out if you're in the area, but not if you're looking for something quick and easy.

There are many great brunch restaurants in Montreal. But standing tall even amongst these giants are a pair of beautiful sister cafes: Janine and Regine. From the decor to the service to the pricing, from the drinks to the food to the desserts, it's very rare to find restaurants that get all of these right, and at such high standards. But cafe Janine delivers. Every item on the menu is spectacular. Each dish is carefully designed and crafted to excite your senses satisfy your hunger and taste buds. Not only that, but they always keep it fresh by experimenting with different types of cocktails as well. Never have I thought that peach, basils and mango can go so well together in a drink. My personal favourites are 1. un peu tout(a little bit of everything) 2. Gros Jambon(optional duck sausages) 3. Fried Chicken and Waffles remember to get a side of the scotch egg, your taste buds will thank you ;).

The place lived up to the hype. Great food, amazing service and even as we waited in line outside, in the shade, they kept coming out to update each group on the remaining wait times, they even brought out refreshments - delicious ice tea. We were four and we arrived close to 10:20am on a Sunday, we waited probably less than 30 minutes and were seated at the bar. Food was delicious with a few surprising mix of flavors, like the black olive caramel. Definitely worth the wait time. But I think if we were a bigger group it would have taken closer to an hour to be seated. So if you want to try it in a bigger group number, go on weekdays or be there at 9am on weekends. Their latte was just as good as that of any top Barista house. Excellent! If I have one recommendation to the restaurant owners on a menu item, it would be for the delicious multi layered brunch tray "un peu de tout". It was yummy but mainly all sweet items. it would be great if they mix the sweet with some savory. I felt if they added some cheese or maybe their yummy black olive caramel as one of the condiments, it would have been better. Thank you for an amazing service and food.

Worth the wait on the weekend. Elaborate well-thought dishes. The Un Peu de Tout platter serves two hungry people, three tea time snackers. Lovely staff, very pretty decor.

Absolutely one of the best brunch places I’ve ever eaten - and I love a good brunch. Everything my table ordered was quite literally the most beautiful version of that dish we’d ever seen. And it also tasted amazing. Be prepared to wait about an hour to get in - but it’ll be worth it!

Nice place. Exactly or Very similar to Regine cafe. The waffle n the chicken were not great. Others places makes it way better. Mango chutney taste similar to Chinese plume sauce. ~3 🌟 = decor / service (waitress was very helpful and pro. Coodos to her. Staff are helpful n available) / price (decent but on the Med end, understandable since food price market shot up) ~Loss 2 🌟 = food (as mentioned above and the croissant was wet from the meat) / other (allergy problems were met but with very few and restricted options to choose from)

Takeout service was spot on throughout the entire Rona situation. Great attention given to the presentation and experience brought home. The quality and quantity remained the same. My first visit on premises post Rona was as great as it has always been. Although the staff is busy with a full house, service is provided with care and genuine smiles, water constantly refilled and absolutely nobody rushing you out the door despite the neverending lineup. Steaming mugs being delivered to the people waiting outside and well organized check in process. Janine at home was lovely 🥰, on premises is even better!

Friendly and energetic staff, free welcome shooter (without alcohol), and great ambiance. The french toast from the Sucre Sale plate was fluffy and was perfect with the maison sauce. The ham was a little bit on the dry side. You can order a scotch egg on the side or replace the egg from your plate with a scotch egg (additional $). Perfectly cook and silky inside.

You know this restaurant is good when it is the only one need to queue on Sunday morning. Waited for about 45min, longer than I expected but it’s worth. The food is really good for brunch. Generous portion, nicely seasoned and cooked. My breakfast includes baked beans. Even though I am not a bake beans person (despite living in the uk for few years), I would say this is the best beans I have ever tried. The homemade potato was tasty too! Scotch egg is nicely cooked with a runny yolk. Service is good. Will definitely come back in the future!

Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleanness: ⭐️ ⭐️ (found a hair in the chicken waffles. They were nice to replace a new one but i feel gross 🤮 🥲) Overall it’s a great brunch place (excluding the cleanness part.) Recommend: the scotch eggs and the chicken waffles🤞🏼.) They serve you a free energy shot when you sit down. Foods are great and serve is good. The portion is large.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I need to go back for a piece of the carrot cake, which looked delicious. There is often a line on the weekend but it's worth the wait.
