The
personnel
at
Amigo
Tours
were
quite
eager
to
have
our
experience
reviewed.
Even
the
tour
bus
was
wrapped
with
advertisements.
OK.
We
stayed
at
a
hotel
that
they
did
not
service
for
pickups
so
we
found
ourselves
on
the
Cancun
City
Bus
at
4:30
am
to
meet
a
5:05
pickup
at
a
hotel
several
miles
away.
There
was
some
confusion
as
to
where
the
exact
pick
up
site
was.
When
the
bus
arrived,
there
was
more
confusion.
I
booked
and
prepaid
this
tour
in
advance
before
we
even
left
home,
using
a
major
credit
card
and
going
through
a
website.
I
had
the
booking
receipts,
booking
numbers,
confirmation
numbers,
and
we
were
in
the
right
place
at
the
right
time.
But
there
was
still
a
problem.
the
site
I
booked
from
acted
as
a
clearing
house
to
the
tour
provider,
which
was
Viator
Tours.
Viator
handed
the
tour
off
to
their
Cancun
partner,
Amigo
Tours.
No
one
would
accept
responsibility
when
our
name
was
not
on
the
tour
director's
list.
He
took
photos
of
my
confirmations
with
his
cell
phone
and
sent
that
into
the
office.
He
agreed
to
allow
us
onto
the
bus,
since
it
seemed
that
we
had
indeed
paid
for
this
tour,
but
first
he
demanded
the
$406
mxn
tax
for
Chichen
itza,
which
we
hadn't
understood
we
needed
to
pay.
Somewhere
along
the
line,
our
reservation
was
just
plain
lost,
since
there
were
so
many
middle
men.
We
did
settle
this
and
went
on
to
enjoy
the
tour.
I
am
still
confused
about
this,
as
I
wondered
if
I
were
not
being
set
up
for
a
bigger
tip,
as
it
seemed
that
we
got
extra
'treatment',
by
being
allowed
on
the
bus
without
the
proper
registration.
Marco
was
an
excellent
guide;
he
was
quite
knowledgeable
about
Chichen
Itza
and
Mayan
history;
he
had
studied
the
ruins
in
courses,
books,
and
personal
visits.
He
has
also
led
many
tours.
He
did
tell
us
much
of
the
historical
details
on
the
bus
as
well
as
'selling
us
on
a
Mayan
Birth
certificate',
which
we
did
not
buy,
but
he
also
let
us
sleep
during
the
first
half
of
the
123-mile
trip
from
Cancun
City.
The
tour
included
a
stop
at
a
Mexican
Plaza
to
give
those
who
wished
a
chance
to
shop,
and
then
we
picked
up
our
boxed
lunch.
We
arrived
back
in
Cancun
at
the
late
afternoon
in
time
to
have
a
nap
before
dinner.
We
chose
this
tour
as
it
arrived
at
Chichen
Itza
early
and
we
were
accompanied
by
the
archeologist
tour
guide.
This
was
my
first
time
booking
anything
through
that
website,
but
I
have
used
Viator
Tours
before
with
excellent
results.
I
am
not
sure
what
happened
here.
