Look out for a new superb place to eat! We just had an amazing lunch at the Tyler's Kiln. We were informed that they are under new leadership from award winning Chef Sam McClurkin. Thanks to Sam and the whole team for a delicious meal! Do not miss the tofu starter! It was fabulous! And the black garlic risotto! Will return gladly!

First time visiting and definitely wont be the last! Had a fantastic Sunday Roast, generous portions and brilliant roast potatoes. Sat outside in the wonderful garden which had heaters and a canopy. Staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to help. Best wishes to you all and thank you for your wonderful food and service during these difficult times. Stay safe and see you soon.

Looks nice. Chef did not make the move from Sturry apparently. So the food was not quite the same. Good, but not on par.

Very Nice beer garden and atmosphere for a drink. Didn’t try any of the food but it looks good. Friendly service

Really nice venue. Well laid out with seating downstairs and upstairs. If live music is playing, it can be noisy so ask to be seated upstairs. There are effectively two menus - the cost effective one and the pricey one. We went for the former. Our waitress was knowledgeable and was able to answer our questions. Service was reasonably quick. Food was very nice. Toilets were very clean and well decorated. There was an overflow car park though it was busy and on a really busy night you might need to park down the road.

Went last Saturday for an evening meal for 4 adults & a child at 18.00ish. Warm, cozy environment was felt. Ordered drinks & waited for our meal table to be readied. Once sat, we ordered our food. All adults ordered Scotch egg....to be told chef hasn't got! Our waitress wasn't advised that there weren't any eggs in. 15 minutes later, she came back & asked what starters we wanted! Twenty minutes passed then our starters finally arrived! Our child had a single sausage & mash which was swamped with gravy!! We poured the liquid off.....she's 4!! 3 adults enjoyed their starters, where mine was 3 prawns in a "sauce" which was, sadly awful & boring! £9.50 for 3 prawns! Then mains arrived 40 minutes after our starters! Fish & chips x2, nice but incredibly small portions for £15.50 each. x1 burger, very bland...easily forgettable! Now....the steak! x4 minute slithers of sirloin steak with a small pot of peppercorn sauce.....£27.50!!!!! Waitress was just brilliant (it was her last shift as she was leaving). Our bill came to just over £150 with no desserts!! Felt totally ripped off for the lack lustre quality of food. Shame really.....

Very disappointing. Took my partner there for a Birthday meal as I'd heard good reports. The sea bass was very underwhelming. I expected a whole sea bass for the price but was served with a small dry fillet on a bed of plain rice and undercooked long stem brocolli garnished with a tiny slice of pappy lime. Awful! The Eton Mess was served in an inappropriate dish consisting of overwhipped cream and not a lot else. Maybe six blueberries and a dried up strawberry for £6! However, the staff were friendly and attentive. I thought they could have done better, even in these difficult times. We won't be going again I'm sorry to say.

Waited a while for this Amazing Chef to return to his natural habitat. Outstanding Meal Sam. Thank you. Just what was needed after a long week at work. Love the place, warm & cosy vibe. Watch out for this place with Sam in the kitchen and Ellie smashing FOH. 10/10 across the board. Thank you Ellie for a perfect & effortless service. Working out when we can get back this month.

Great staff and a lovely setting. The garden area is beautiful too, there is a tree that is a water feature! They do like to cram them in here. Make sure you book well in advance. Meals are large and well cooked and beautifully presented. There are even games to play after your meal. Not cheap here but where is nowadays.

Tyler's Kiln is a must. We have just been for a Sunday roast. Exquisite. Beautiful venue, lovely staff, great atmosphere. And the food. Don't take my word for it, go, and experience their delights. You will not be disappointed. Great drink menu with lots of variety and in such a beautiful setting.

Edit: THIS REVIEW RELATES TO KATHTON HOUSE AT TYLERS KILN: January birthdays...always a tough nut to crack. Mid-winter, long nights, short days, post Christmas blues and industrial grade credit card bills make these uphill battles. So, planning a salient birthday party for our daughter and 14 family members just added another whole dimension of challenges. Spoiler alert: Kathton House had it covered and did us proud. Great menu selection (Sunday menu) which was pre-booked just helped to smooth stresses on the day, and the professional service team were slick, helpful and very friendly. The food was on the table on time, in the right place, without delays and the quality was really superb. Fourteen happy customers and the birthday girl loved it!

Had a fabulous meal today for me and my brother and sisters birthday, me n my brother had beef burger, and triple cooked chunky chips, my dad and sister had cod and chips with dips, all our dishes we’r Absolutely Amazing! We even had a lovely surprise with a Ameretto filled chocolate displayed on a plate with happy birthday scrolled in chic sauce, such a lovely gesture. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the 25 foot Xmas tree outside is out of this world. I highly recommend going to this beautiful pub. We will definitely be going again SOON

I WAS A BIT TIPSY BY THE TIME I ENJOYED THE COCKTAIL AT TYLERS KILN. WE CELEBRATED MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY UPSTAIRS AT KATHTON HOUSE, THEN I CONTINUED TO BEHAVE IMMATURELY BY HAVING A COCKTAIL AS GOOD AS YOU WILL GET AT ANY BAR IN EDINBURGH. LOVELY, CLEAN, DORSET TYPE PUB WITH FRIENDLY STAFF.

Unbelievably good food, great staff, amazing selection of drinks and very intriguing decor, felt welcomed and cosy. If there was one complaint it's only that the epic turkey dinner made the walk home a bit difficult as I was so satisfied and full!! Will definitely be back

Kathton House may have moved, but the quality of the food is just as great at the New location. And, to add there is a brilliantly stocked bar and garden to add. Amazing food and fantastic value too. Love it!

Went for a birthday meal and was so disappointed and my wife. As my wife organised the meal when the meal turned up they came with one plate and had to wait an other 10 minutes for my wife's dinner to come to the table when eating I found an elastic band in my dinner and my wife's dinner the beef was full off blood no gravy on my wife's plate. The staff were very nice BUT as for cooks they need to check plates and learn how to cook and dish up a roast dinner on a plate, my wife cooking is 20 times better and also presented nicely on a plate. Hope this puts you to shame as my wife and I will not be coming back definitely not recommended.
