Copy of an email I am waiting a response to. Good afternoon, I wanted to follow up on my experience with you today. You did promise a call back this afternoon but, so far, I have heard nothing. I was booked in for Shirodhara and a day spa. The treatment was okay - 5 mins massage before the oil pouring and then literally three minutes after. When I have had it before, there has been less pouring and more massage. When I got in the shower in the treatment room, my breath was taken away by the smell of damp and that kind of sweet (in a bad way) urine smell you get in unventilated bathrooms. The brown towel I was given to dry myself on had that horrible smell when something hasn’t been dried properly and smells like urine. I went to use the disabled toilet and there was a slight brown / red mark by the handle on the outside. Starting to feel very “dirty”, I decided to go for a relax in the one of the relaxation areas but noticed that a few of the pillows looked a bit greasy / stained. The whole feel is of a rather neglected spa. I welcome your comments.

Cheaper than Champneys - but you get what you pay for. Went for half a day to use the pool and steam room, and have lunch. The pool is small and the steam room wasn't working. The loungers were all taken. Lunch was tasty, but a bit overpriced - had to guess what we were eating and drinking as no information was provided on the food and juice left on our table in the dining room. And no changing rooms with any privacy - which was odd as the spa is mixed. Won't be going back.

The spa that love built! That's the only way I can describe Tor Spa Retreat. I give them 5 stars for intent and 1 star for execution. Plus, 2 stars for value for money. I'll give you the headlines without any opinion: No pond, just mud - every room and the spa looks out on this. No advance notice that its nothing like the pics. Not very picturesque, kept waiting for a hippo to pop its head up out of the mud! Room access - via the salvage yard at the rear of the reception with at least 20 meters of gravel (not great if you're in a wheelchair as one of the guests was during my stay). Bedrooms - clean, basic with damp smell, probably because there's insufficient ventilation for the bathroom. Overall, not a space you'd want to spend much time in other than for sleeping. Beds - specifically asked for a double and it was two single beds put together. The mattresses had hard edges, so not really possible to lay across them (it's a tall person thing). Bedding & linen - crisp, white and clean, excellent. Was concerned having read other reviews. Bathroom - feels like a wet room but is not designed to be one, hence damp issues. Room gets soaked when using the shower, which was truly excellent. If you turn the sink tap on full, its so powerful it misses the sink. Wi-fi - available in at least half of the room... I met other guests who couldn't access it at all. Breakfast in a basket - too much to say so I'll keep it simple and say missed opportunity. Spa - as per other reviews, fairly basic setup. Meet & greet was good. Plus: - Nice showers and changing facilities - Sauna not hot enough (dial read 60 most of the afternoon, normally 70+) - Largest flip flop was 2/3 the length of my foot - No towel in my locker - Steam room stank of damp Spa experience dinner - Indian vegetarian buffet style dinner was basic. One guest commented she had the same dish when she visited 9 months previous. Great view from the loungers of the dried up watering hole, sadly no hippos spotted on this occasion...

My first Spa experience so can not compare to others. The location was very pleasant, tucked away in Ickham, which is a nice Kent village. The team was welcoming and explained everything well. Whilst the facilities seemed fairly basic I had a great experience and excellent and relaxing range of treatments. Highly recommended and certainly did the job.

We were very kindly greeted at the tor. Their facilities are situated in a beautiful location. Superb swimming. The sauna and steam room were hot Hot HOT!! perfect. Top showering and pampering rooms with a huge range of lovely creams and potions to try. After all that the relaxing area overlooking the pond and flower garden are sublime. Highly recommend for a relaxing day out.

I have visited Tor Spa a few times now with my most recent visit being a full spa day which was a treat from my husband. It's a lovely, tranquil place where you can really switch off and unwind. The therapists provide authentic ayurvedic treatments and the food is delicious too. I would highly recommend it!

Beautiful location, peaceful garden. Very relaxing environment but it's a small spa and although not overcrowded, the facilities feel small and somewhat basic. Would be nice to have an ice bucket or a hot tub/jacuzzi. The showers, treatment rooms and lounges are lovely. Lunch was nutritious and tasty but needed a little more to make it feel truly special.

Its a great place to unwind and recharge those batteries, we booked the spa day which included lunch, cost was £60 each which I think, was an absolute bargain. If I was in area I would definitely return.

Didn't have any spa treatments as just on a stop over on route home. Parking at the front is free and easy. Stoney car park and entrance to reception might not be great for individuals with limited mobility. Room spacious and comfortable. Very comfortable beds and comfy chairs in the room too overlooking the beautiful gardens and pond. The shutters on the windows are a great addition in the bedrooms. The relaxing communal areas are great and you get a completely relaxed vibe here. It's been a great find. Breakfast in the morning delivered to your door! We will definitely come back in the future.

I've been to Ickham Tor many times. Little disappointed today so I'm writing a new review. The spa has been refurbished. It's updated but. 1. There was no incense burners. 2 there was no fruit, this has been stopped. My masseuse was ok but she wasn't an Indian lady so I wasn't sure about her training. She covered my hair in oil which was disgusting. And worst of all Benni has left. His wife still works there. What a team they made. The atmosphere was totally missing. Had a pleasant day but left a lot to be wanted. You should answer emails as well as reviews

A potentially lovely little retreat in dire need of some care and attention. I tried to find staff to have this conversation before leaving but in the end gave up and left the key on the side. It costs nothing to sweep up old leaves and the outside area has clearly been ignored for for months. All of this could be excused though and a great time still had. Our room however was dirty and I kept finding long black hairs wrapping round my feet in the bedroom and several in the bathroom. I've short blonde hair and my partner has a shaved head. Scruffy I can deal with but dirty is inexcusable. Such a shame as could be a really wonderful place, comfy beds and a cute breakfast in a basket. Doubt I'll be back, left sorely disappointed overall.

I recently spent a few nights here after my partner and I came across it on a spontaneous trip and it's lovely. It is a retreat that focuses on tranquility, detoxing, wellness, mindfulness and relaxation. As such it is a very quiet and peaceful place that removes outside distractions. The retreat is out in the Kent downs which is a really beautiful part of the country and the grounds are equally as beautiful. They have some really peaceful and lovely seating areas outside along the edge of a small water way that had a little bridge and a central area with a wooden tree swing. There is also a hammock and an area beside a small pond. There are a small number of rooms here which are bright and spacious with large windows from which you can see all the country scenery. The beds are spacious and comfortable and there are draws a wardrobe, coffee table and seating. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are all generously provided along with towels. However, it is a retreat and there's no television on the premises, both in communal areas or in the rooms. There are tea making facilities in the room, breakfast tea, a selection of herbal teas and coffee, milk and bottles of water. There is a spa on site with a pool, sauna, steam room and a number of quiet areas. One quiet area is for sitting and or reading and the other has some games such as chess and cards. You can book treatments as well. Lemon water and herbal teas are available in the spa and you can also book lunch. The food here is all vegetarian/ vegan and is served in a nice, peaceful dining room overlooking the garden space. The food is very tasty and well made, all of it being healthy and juice is served. If staying at the retreat you can also book breakfast which is delivered to your room each morning in a sweet little picnic basket. Everything is fresh, including the juice and really tasty. The ladies that run the retreat are amazingly lovely, very friendly, helpful and kind. I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to detox, relax, escape the day to day or just looking for a nice peaceful day away.

Great place to stay for a peaceful break plus the bonus of nice places to eat and drink nearby, unfortunately due to booking late the spa treatments and other facilities were not available as they were already booked so try to book them at the same time, will be booking again just for the relaxing feeling, wi-fi not great in the rooms, luckily we didn't need it

Little jewel in a rural location yet only 15mins drive from Canterbury or Wingham. Delicious breakfast delivered every morning around 09:00. Friendly and helpful staff, no request was too much trouble for them for instance slightly earlier check in and slightly later check out. Towels and robes in our accommodation were fresh and clean, as were the bedding and blankets. Assistance given with our suitcases when checking out, without being requested which is 5 stars right there.

Nice little spar, had the full works and loved every minute of it. Only negative was one of the saunas was a little grimey, and if your not a fan of vegetarian food you might be a little Hungry.

We just booked a room for a couple of nights, nice clean modern room, great bathroom, great countryside view. This is a very quiet location in the countryside. You can walk to the village pub, it does good food and is open all day. Highly recommended, it won't disappoint. Note there is no TV or WiFi, actually quite nice to get away from that, you can get a mobile signal though !

Room ok. A bit odd to have a nice view from the room and... a footpath to other rooms just next to it so, if someone stays in other rooms, they can look in to your room. You can't pick what you want for breakfast and a bit small portion if there is something you don't like. The wors was to find someone's hairs on bathroom mat that was hanging on radiator... And there is no WiFi in XXI century plus poor signal.

I had a pleasant experience at Tor Spa, I only had half day of spa and didn't book any treatments or a room so I can't comment on that. The booking process was easy, reception lady was very nice and showed me around explaining all the house rules. There are 2 lovley garden rooms, a dry sauna and a steam sauna which I used and the heated oxygenated pool which was superb. All facilities were clean, shower was great as well. Will recommend for a nice relaxing atmosphere.

The best spa hands down...pop down to Kent and experience gorgeous Ayurvedic treatments; a relaxing tranquil spa with great facilities and friendly, hospitable staff. You really won't want to return to reality 😊

The facilities were so relaxing and the pool was gentle on my skin. I had a 30 minute facial and wish I'd gone for the 60 minute one! It was stunning.

Had a great view of the large koi pond, the garden overall was very relaxing. It does have massage facilities and a indoor pool. However the wifi was bad and there are no TV's in the room which i can understand

There was not enough food for 7 people. I would rate it 1 star for cleanliness. Staff helpful and friendly. Love location, peaceful and quiet.

Wonderful day at this tranquil place. Had massage and facial treatments, lunch with new friends. Staff were an excellent mixture of friendly and discrete. Products used have left my skin looking and feeling beautiful. Felt totally relaxed. Highly recommended.

I visited the Spa as part of a hen do group. The team at Tor Spa were super helpful and accommodating when it came to organising the day. The day itself was great and we all had a lovely time. Everyone enjoyed their treatments and the Spa itself was very relaxing.

I cannot express how relaxing my friend and I felt. Every part of the treatment was first class. The beautiful ladies who made me feel special. Never been before to anything like this before but I will definitely love to go again. Just an overnight stay made all the difference to my health problems. I thank the Tor Retreat for a great experience. Five Stars from me. Love ❤️

This is a beautiful place. The only problem I had was that there is no separate changing area for male and female users, for this reason I personally wouldn't book to go back. The message was excellent though.

I have had a couple of spa days here now and have always found it to be a relaxing retreat. The food is delicious, the massages are good and thorough, the staff are lovely and the amenities are always well stocked and clean.

Ok so this is a Spa without a spa, no spa hot tub, no bubbles.. The gardens are unkept, in dire need of attention. The building at the back is falling apart, bits of wood falling off the building, and on the paths everywhere. The deck was black with mould, full of leaves and prickly cones that go deep into your flipflops like needles, no sweeping is ever done. BEWARE! There is good intention from the staff to make you feel welcome here, but overall,a feeling of, we re glad you are spending your money here but dont really care otherwise. Not much love is felt here, and the bad smells in the non working steam room as well as cobwebs everywhere and lack of attention to detail make it feel quite a stressful experience. Everywhere you look something needs cleaning or fixing. The property is clearly not maintained at all and you wonder if any of the profits of this expensive stay are reinvested in the space or just spent elsewhere ..Not worth the expensive price tag at all. A disapointing experience for my 17 year old daughter and I.

Very nice and relaxing place, clean, large and comfortable rooms. Fantastic idea of breakfast in the room with a basket left outside the door. The view from the window is so amazing!

My daughter and I had a wonderful day yesterday lovely facilities and company and a lovely lunch. I had the salt scrub and feet revival that was amazing. Didn't ask the name of my lady who did the treatment but she was lovely. Thank you so much Tor Spa Retreat we will be back ❤️❤️

As always we had the best day at the Tor. Attention to detail is exceptional! We were welcomed on arrival by a lovely lady who immediately made us all feel relaxed and explained our schedule for the day. The peace and relaxation I felt from start to finish was just what I needed and I can't thank you all enough! We will be back in the new year.
