How lovely to be back at the Theater again, especially with an outstanding show such as Giselle. Gorgeous exhibition by Artscape Garderope in the Foyer. It is a great pity that the staff serving the overpriced drinks are not properly trained. It would be really great if some coffee were made available.

So today's event was an outing to the Artscape Theatre. I went to see Cinderella and I really enjoyed the show. The musicians and cast put on a wonderful show and the 2hrs flew by. The only minor gripe that I have is that they appear to not have enough confectionery stands which leads to long queues. Tickets are available for most shows on Computicket and that is where I bought mine. Depending on where you sit will determine your ticket price, mine was R350 for a seat near the back. Really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back again. 😊

Enjoyable afternoon with a demonstration by the ballet company at Artscape. Free hour of culture. In the foyer hot & cold drinks where available. The staff where all very friendly & helpful. The children were invited to sit in front of the performing artist. Many children had photos taken with the performers. Thank you Artscape!

My husband and I went to go see the Don Quixote ballet this past weekend. And what a culture treat! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, especially myself, as the last ballet I had been to was when I was a young girl 🩰 The Artscape staff were professional yet friendly with helping us print our tickets and find the right level and door to our seats. Ordering appetizers before the show is a great service as they serve it up nice and hot during the first intermission for you to munch on. Drinks are also on offer, so you can enjoy a glass of bubbly before the show and during intermission if that's your taste 🥂 And the ballet was magical. A live show with live music is such a treat where we live in a digital world. Having visiting international dancers part of it was an amazing experience. Shall definitely be on the lookout for another classic ballet! The Artscape building itself could do with some TLC inside and out as it appears a bit worn from age and use. Clearer signage or a better system would be great to provide first-time visitors with the knowledge on how the food and drink can be ordered and where to get a program, etc. We only knew through the people we had come with who had been to the Artscape before. I really appreciated the clean bathrooms. Thank you! Keep up the great work with the arts and visitor experience 🎭

Went to watch Cape Town City of Ballet perform Ikigai at the Artscape tonight. All I have to say is...it was an exceptional experience!!! We struggled finding parking, but the security guard let us into the backstage parking lot which was very sweet. Thank you greatly for that. Appreciate it:) First of all, the ballet was spectacular, but the whole environment and energy of the space was all in all lovely. There were quite a few people in the audience, which made these auditorium lively and bustling, and the amount of enthusiasm expressed was beyond imagination. The staff were very welcoming and kind. Clean environment and very good looking food was on sale during the intervals. The space is very much sophisticated and high end, but at the same time full of life and freedom in its own unique way. One thing that bothered me was there was no soap in the bathroom and half of the soap dispensers didn't have anything at all. This did make washing hands with sanitizer not a great experience, but otherwise the bathroom was clean. I loved the poster displays of the various ongoing performances, but most of all, loved the red carpet feel going up to teh chandelier foyer. Just pure magnificence and elegance. Enjoyed every minute. Cannot wait for the next performance and experience. Till then...take care

This is my home from home, where I play with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra on a freelance basis. This cannot be an objective review, because whether sitting on stage or in a rehearsal room, or in the pit is where I love to be. However, it is a spectacular venue and the arts, theatre and music programmes that run in this building are worthy of full support from the municipality, the province, national government and from those who live in and travel through Cape Town. The talented people who gather to make music, from players, conductors, librarians and management who make it possible are all immensely committed. So, too, the lighting, sound, technical, admin and support staff who attend to the care of this institution are an asset that is not fully realised or appreciated. I'm privileged to have had the opportunity to live my dream on stage in symphony orchestras and wind ensembles, in the pit for ballets and operas, and in rehearsal with excellent conductors who inspire and share their musicianship.

We have watched many shows here and the entire building has always been extremely neat and tidy. All the staff that we have interacted with have always been very friendly and helpful with a smile on their faces. Their clever option to order your snacks/drinks for the intermission before the shows start is an awesome extra so you don’t have to stand in a long queue.

Absolutely loved the performance, the dancers are very talented, I had a smile plastered on my face from beginning to end!! Also enjoyed a nice cold glass of Chardonnay during interval.

Let’s Boogie! by Ganarama Productions at Artscape was an unforgettable evening that transported the audience back to the Motown Era, disco beats, and power ballads of the 70s and 80s. It took me back to the days that my parents, would host family braais and the uncle’s and aunts would dance to their favourite ballads. With a combination of local talent, live music, and hilarious comedy, it was the perfect night out for anyone seeking a dose of nostalgia and good times. The show kicked off with an energetic performance that immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening. The talented cast brought the songs of the era to life, capturing the essence and spirit of the Motown Era with their soulful voices and infectious energy. From classic hits to hidden gems, the musical numbers were a delightful trip down memory lane that had the audience singing along and dancing in their seats. What truly made Let’s Boogie! stand out was the seamless integration of live music and comedy. The band, with their tight arrangements and impressive musicianship, provided the perfect backdrop for the performers, elevating the overall experience. The comedic interludes were well-timed and had the audience in stitches, adding an extra layer of entertainment to the show. The local talent showcased in Let’s Boogie! was truly impressive. The performers brought their A-game, displaying not only their vocal prowess but also their ability to captivate and engage the audience. It was evident that each member of the cast was passionate about the music and dedicated to delivering a memorable performance. The atmosphere at Artscape was electric, with the audience fully immersed in the music and the energy of the performers. The production value was top-notch, with vibrant lighting, stylish costumes, and a stage design that perfectly complemented the theme of the show. The attention to detail was evident, creating an immersive experience that made it easy to forget the outside world and simply enjoy the music and laughter. If you’re looking for a night of pure entertainment and a chance to boogie down memory lane, Let’s Boogie! is a must-see. Whether you’re a fan of the Motown Era, disco beats, or power ballads, this show has something for everyone. Grab your dancing shoes, bring a date, and get ready for a night of local talent, live music, and hilarious comedy. You won’t be disappointed!

The acoustics are great, and the building is very interesting architecturally. There are several halls and it hosts some of the most epic performances of the city. The bar stock is relatively limited but the service is excellent!

Absolutely amazing event host. Swan lake was worth every cent spent. Memorable. Smooth sailing in every facet. On time scheduling. The only frustration is patrons who do not listen and bring food into a performance and talk non-stop. They should stay at home and watch via a paying stream. No performance etiquette. Shame on these woman.
