The Best Pita's In South Africa, Most Authentic Hummus I have eaten outside the middle east. Will definitely come back with my family !

I was having a pretty s**t day today because I got mugged in Woodstock and ended up losing a significant sum of money. I ended up getting the chicken schnitzel and falafel balls at this place and for some reason struck up a convo with the lady on duty. She was kind and listened to me rant about my terrible day. The good food and listening ears made up for what would otherwise have had me on the next plane back to Sydney. Thanks to the lady…not sure what her name was but I definitely would recommend The Falafel Guy because it’s easy to get food, but rare to get good people….the food was good though can’t lie.

100% would recommend. I walked up to the friendly lady and asked her what their bestseller is. She pointed to the falafel wrap which I ordered (keep in mind I'm not a vegan/vegatarian) i will go for the meat options 10 times out if 10, but decided to go with the recommendation. Absolutely delicious and well sized falafel wrap, very juicy and packed with flavour. Will be back for more

I had the chicken shawarma. Don't get what all the rave is about. It lacked flavour. Quite bland actually. Perhaps my expectation from all the praise of this place was too high. I'm sorry, but I was unimpressed. It is certainly not worth the high 4s. I've made better myself.

Food was good but my wife's pita was hot and fresh while mine was ice cold. Tip: When one person orders 2 falafel pita's, don't make the first one and let it rest for 15 minutes while you take more orders, prepare other menu items, and fry fresh falafel for the second pita.

Update: 06/07/23 This is the most authentic and delicious tasting falafel pita. I’ve had it 30+ plus times since they opened and it’s been enjoyable as always. David (the owner) is friendly and is always ensuring that you have a great experience. He truly cares about each person that walks through and supports his business. I have watched them grow since they’ve started and they are constantly making things better and improving where they can. I can say from the bottom of my heart that it is a pleasure to support this business and it is one of favourite meals to eat when I am wanting a filling and delicious meal. If you haven’t try or had an disappointing experience with falafel this is the best place in South Africa to try it. The food was amazing and great service and location as well. Recommended.

Most delicious falafel pita I've probably ever had. Incredibly well spiced, not dry at all, brilliant flavour combinations. Over and above that, the portion size is more than generous. Would highly recommend and will definitely be ordering from them again!

Definately the best beef shwarma by far. Extremely fresh pita pocket. Tasty ingredients and well balanced. Well done to the owner that is so hands on meeting and greeting his customers at his stall. We will certainly be back for more. Well done !!!

I'd recommend falafel over meats as the meats aren't on a stand and don't have a familiar shawarma taste. Other ingredients are nice and bread is nice and soft. Chips are crispy. Tad pricy for the size

We bought two meat pitas and one deconstructed meat dish as my one sister does not eat anything with starch. Firstly, the service was great. The one guy easily strikes up a conversation and makes you feel very comfortable. There’s also someone outside of the truck, who helps u decide on what you want and takes your order. This ensures that the service is faster. The man making the food doesn’t really speak as he is actually the guy getting the job done. My one sister said that her meat had fat on but I will not take her comment into consideration, as she is known to always complain about her food, no matter where she eats. To me, who actually had to wait on the food, I feel that the service was great and will definitely return. 👌

On December 4, 2023, I ordered a chicken shawarma from "The Falafel Guy" and unfortunately experienced a severe case of food poisoning. The aftermath was so serious that it felt like my life was in danger. This illness not only affected my health but also caused me to miss out on three beautiful sunsets during my vacation in South Africa. I am confident that the food poisoning is linked to the shawarma, as I was in perfect health before consuming it, and my body exhibited the initial unpleasant reactions within minutes. Subsequently, around five hours later, I experienced persistent nausea accompanied by relentless vomiting. I hope that by sharing this post, it will prompt an improvement in quality control at "The Falafel Guy." Addressing issues such as improper storage or inadequate hygiene measures is crucial to prevent such incidents in the future.

Falafel was incredible and the chicken dish was extremely filling. The fries also had a great crisp to them. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite after a stroll or are craving some good cheap food, this is your spot.

This has been my favourite falafel place for a long time. But they let me down big time. As a vegan they brought about a huge offence. They have taken on too much and their staff is flustered and while trying their best dropping the ball big time. We ordered two falafels in pitas and we received them after waiting for a long time and having to follow up. What resulted in the end was we were given what seems to be two pitas with a shawarma and then finished off with falafels - mistake but a catastrophic one for us. We were both sick and sadly will not return.
