Back for another superb dinner at Urchin - this time brought hubby along with friends. I couldn’t believe that Chef Gerard could blow us away a 2nd time! We had the new tasting menu with wine pairing. Each dish so unique and completely different from the one before - interesting and delightful! I could trade my birthright to have that salmon salad every day! I’m neither a food critic nor a poet, so definitely don’t have the words to describe how sensational the food, wine and service was, yet again! This restaurant is definitely my favourite in Cape Town - from the comfortable seating and ambiance to the excellent service and exquisite food! Thank you so much Chef Gerard, Richard, Shepherd and the wonderful team for another memorable evening! We’ll be back! I want everyone I know to experience this slice of heaven!

What a gem! The staff were incredibly attentive and professional. The food was exceptional from the very first dish to the last one. A must when you are in Cape Town. They also went the extra mile to make my birthday very very special.

We joined Urchin for their first wine pairing event. Both the food and the wine were exceptional, and yet somehow still the service managed to stand out due to the absolute dedication and personable nature of their staff. This in no way downplays the chef's talents, however, who has mastered maintaining distinct flavour profiles while introducing elements which are both complementary and leave you with a sense of the uncanny. Exceptional quality in a comfortable environment.

The service, ambiance, and food are all top notch. Walking into this restaurant is a chance to step away from the outside world. I cannot praise the service staff enough. They are nothing short of amazing.

Food is really average for the price charged. Set menu has no highlight, only 2 dishes out all 4 real dishes are maybe fine dining method done, and they count chocolates and sorbet 2 dishes.... Drinks price is far out, a bottle of water is R100. Unless u want to pay some tourist tax and stay in the hotel, otherwise it will upset you badly as a local.

WOW what a culinary experience!! From the Hotel General Manager Mr. Herman Brits personally welcoming us and the other patrons to Dylan the amazingly talented Chef who prepared out of this world food. Well done chef. And last but not least our waiter Tyrone, thank you!! Your menu knowledge was very impressive, describing every dish in very accurate detail! An unforgettable evening. Thank you!!

We had the Restaurant Week set menu. The salmon entrée was undoubtedly the star dish, closely followed by the absolutely delicious raspberry mouse. On the logical assumption that this was a fish restaurant perhaps serving fish for mains would have been more appropriate, but the rib-eye was cooked well and perfectly enjoyable. So despite everything being near perfect, would I go back for a meal? Probably not. Despite ticking many boxes, the restaurant lacks something that simply doesn’t put it in the same league as La Colombe,FYN, Pier or Waterside.
