Great ambiance, would definitely recommend the courtyard. Very friendly staff, with good food! Service was good, although very slow, considering we came at a slow time in the day - very few people around. I love the gluten-free options on the menu! Overall a good experience, perfect for a hangout with friends.

Great place for a big brunch. Their sourdough toast is bomb! The chickpea Shakshouka a bit intense for me (too much going on, flavour wise). But the poached eggs with hollandaise served on a bed of veggies was delightful.

Perfectly acceptable breakfast and coffee at regular cape town prices (R100 breakfast; R30 coffee). Seating available outside on pavement; inside in restaurant; and inside in bar area. Slow, weekday morning - perhaps things liven up later in the day.

Nice and hip venue for breakfast and more. I can only comment on the breakie though, didn’t try anything else. I still need to figure out what was in my plate except for the poached eggs but it was tasty and filling. Fresh OJ was nice as well. Would come again! Service was quick and friendly as well.

I visited the restaurant based on an online website's recommendation that it offers the finest burger in Cape Town. To be completely honest, I found the burger to be rather unsatisfactory. I opted for a beef burger, but it did not meet my expectations. The bread they selected was, in my opinion, unsuitable for burgers. On a positive note, the staff were delightful and amiable.

I really enjoyed lunch at Clarkes, I had the chicken burger which was delicious. Special shoutout to their perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside fries. The mimosas are definitely the star of the show, perfectly mixed and there's a special on Saturdays and Sunday's where a mimosa costs R35 between 10am and 2pm. Definitely give this spot a try if you like good food and good drinks.

Huevos Rancheros was very unique and delicious! Love Clarks - best burgers in Cape Town, if only they served them for breakfast haha

This was the best meal and service we had in Cape Town (thank you to our server, Erin)! The Mac n cheese is a must and the chicken sandwich and cheesy French fries were spectacular. We had fun sitting at the bar and watching all the delicious meals being prepared in this open-style kitchen.

This is a very popular place to eat, have coffee, hang out and have drinks. The staff are friendly and the food is good. It has been here for quite a long time and has a lot of regulars. The gluten free muffin was great. It is on Bree Street in a great location in Cape Town cbd

Nice spot. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. The cortado was excellent. The scrambled eggs on toast + bacon was good. Will definitely go back to try more of the menu.

I normally dont write reviews, especially not bad ones, but this place made me so annoyed that I had to share my experience. So I went here on a busy saturdaymorning, came in on 11:05 and ordered coffee (which was decent), fresh oj and a grilled cheese. At 12:00 the food arrived..... we had to wait 55minutes for a quick sandwich, and on top of that the Orange Juice never even came (after asking the waiters 3times)... I understand that its busy but it should not take this long for a simple sandwich. All in all the service and waiting time was really bad. I'm giving this place 2 stars because the grilled cheese sandwich was okay and the coffee was decent. But I recommend that u go to a different place since there are so many better options. Have a blessed day! @abusnaak

It was an okay sort of breakfast. A bit bland is what I have felt. Service and ambience was sort of okay type.. neither too good nor bad.

I don't get why people like this place as much as they do. The food and service overall was ok, but certainly not worth all the fuss Capetonians make about it.

  • 2/5 Lucian Mc N. 3 years ago on Google
Ordered sour dough bread. It came to me and it was toasted so hard that it cut my mouth. Egg portion with with your 'The breakfast' was really disappointing. Even the tomatos and mushrooms were more.

Came for breakfast. The food was nice. I need to come again to try the other food. The vibe is really good. Nice place to meet up with friends.

I don't like to give negative reviews but we had the 210g burger and it was quite small with no garnish. Just a patty, cheese and bun. No sauces even. Not really my idea of a burger. And at R158 and no side I think it is very expensive for an average burger. The fried chicken burger was pretty decent and 4 out of 5 stars. But also a bit on the small side for my liking. Sorry but I've had much better burger experiences.

The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were exactly right. Would love to go here again and try something else.

  • 4/5 Khaled A. 1 year ago on Google
Loved the place. Went there for breakfast but I sure the rest of the menu is as much good. The huovos rancheros toast was a bit disappointing to my personal taste. The beans lacked any kick and there was no salsa to bring things forward. It was not a bad egg dish but it had nothing to do with huovos rancheros for sure. The grilled cheese sandwich although simple tasted really good. The best for me was the croissant french toast. Really gooey and decadent and to top it all off its stuffed with custard and banana. Really really good. The service and atmosphere where wonderful as well.

Nice place to have your breakfast or brunch they have a quite big menu, staff were friendly, prices were reasonable. Took the avo with lebnh and poached eggs but it wasn’t the best. Place smelled like I’m in the kitchen the whole time, I suggest you sit outside or the in the back there’s an outdoor area as well.

  • 4/5 John E. 1 year ago on Google
Pretty good restaurant. Food was alright with nothing particularly spectacular, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Staff was friendly and we were able to sit inside and enjoy good ambiance and company of others. Would recommend!

  • 4/5 Natasha J. 1 year ago on Google
one of our go-to breakfast spots, the scrambled eggs and croissant is one of my favourite breakfast options when I feel like a savoury breakfast, if you’re gluten free the flourless nut and seed loaf is a great option

  • 3/5 Sean H. 1 year ago on Google
Cool place with a great vibe. Food is good, but at least half the time I've been here they are serving half the items on the menu. The burgers or chicken generally are not actually available. But, they are good if you are lucky enough to be here when they happen to be serving one or the other. As others have said, service is slow and below average. So what could be a 5 only gets half the credit for half the food availability and service level.

  • 3/5 Angela K. 5 months ago on Google
Pity that the food was overdone. The bun was so overdone it was like a biscuit, so was the patty. The chips were delicious. The sandwich bread was also over toasted a bit dry, not worth R180. Service was inconsistent

Simple yet efficient burger with a thick juicy pattie. Cheese could be stronger. Homemade fries were delicious.

  • 1/5 Sean M. 8 months ago on Google
Meh, typical Cape Town joint. It all looks pretty but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Specifically the "Fire Eggs", it's really not made well at all. Sour tomato soup with hard chickpeas and how they managed to make a spicy dish taste unseasoned is beyond me. Incredibly disappointing.

  • 5/5 AC B. 3 years ago on Google

Sat outside on the 3rd of December, hoping we don't get another lockdown. Great vibe, seems like a nice crowd that goes there, friendly and conscientious. Beer was cold and the beer and shot special was a winner for First Thursday. Staff are friendly and efficient, and tried their best to sort out tables or seats for everyone, given the reduced capacity. I would recommend this place for light meals or a few of the tap with the boys (or girls).

LOOOVE this place. Totally unassuming from the outside but absolutely beautiful inside, as well as simple, delicious, well made food. Very well priced and the service is super speedy. I had a breakfast special that was 2 eggs (however you like it), toast and a coffee for R40. And those eggs were perfect 👌🏽 Can’t wait to go back and eat their food again!

  • 5/5 Jihyun B. 3 years ago on Google
Really good food (and filling too). Rather a small place, but at the back they have a larger place for peeps to sit down and enjoy the meals/drinks. Considering Cape Town, I found the price reasonable for the amount and quality of the food.

HORRIBLE! - don't go there with a big group (don't even go there - the waiters are horrible and have not understood that service is key). The staff can not handle a busy night without totally screwing up and most waiters have no clue what they are doing and are all over the show. Firstly the drinks took ages! Secondly, they took wrong food order plus did not even ask 2 people at our table for their order, thirdly...they forgot drinks the whole night and kept dropping single drinks in 30 min time (scotch with ice was served melted after it stood there for 30 minutes), we had to run after waiters to order and no waiter is assigned to your table (table for 8 which was a reservation), forget 5 out of 8 meals (plus in the beginning brought wrong order for another table, gave us one of their burgers and then messed up their order). 3 hours later only 3 of us had eaten (one meal which came was cold and had to be returned > Tomato soup was good but had to be warmed up and the sandwich with melted cheese was by then firm again). Throughout the whole night they ignored the table and we could also see other tables getting upset. Lastly they put things on the bill which we did not order (Careful extra charge for hot sauce which was NEVER mentioned by the waiter!) plus we had to beg them to take our money to get the f*** out of there (payment took another 30 minutes). Customers must really enjoy sitting and waiting to love this place. All of us will never come back and it was an absolute waste of time and money.

If i had to eat at only restaurant the rest of my life, it would be Clarke's. This place is amazing. Very cool interior. Even when it's packed, there's still enough private space for one. Great for socialising but also just to have a read or do some work. Now the food... The soup's are exceptional, but the grilled cheese on sourdough bread is even better. Mac n cheese was good. And the latte delicious. Also the manager who sorted my payment problem was really helpful and friendly. When in CPT go to Clarke's!

Food is great, and the kitchen chefs seem so passionate. Mostly, always have a great experience here but not this morning. The front of house staff, one young lady in particular presents herself as arrogant and with a terrible attitude. She corrupts the vibe with her negative energy. Gave me the stare of death, who taught her this? Terrible behaviour. I wanted to generously tip the barista for his friendly service and eventually, I did, however before I could that this the young lady rudely interrupted with an arrogant tone and said "that they don't have access to the cash, only the manager does" and she gave me a dirty look like we were on the street and she wanted to start a fight or something.... and this was after the lovely barista already explained everything to me. Just unnecessary. Be a nice and kinder young lady.

Food at Clarke’s is consistently good, even after they reopened their burgers , salads and mac and cheese are delicious, try also the cheese fries. Staff super friendly and if you can have a bench outside is a nice view on Bree street.

Love this spot. It’s the best burger I’ve ever had. The device is abit slow. I had three bad drinks but they made up for it. Parking is a problem. The look and feel is lovely such a good vibe. Also their breakfast is awesome and tasty.

Great place! And great manager. Especially thankful for those times during lockdown when Clark’s was one of the few restaurants open for take-aways. I remember literally driving from Blouberg to get your chicken burger take away

The worst service. Ignored by waiters while waiting to be seated. We had to see ourselves to the table and sat there - did not get any assistance!
