This is the ideal venue for sundowners because of the building's wrap around balcony. They offer a tapas menu. These are all small portions so it is advised that you order at least 3 items per person. Their pricing is a bit high given the portion sizes. 3 items pp plus drinks can cost u around R350 - R400 pp. The food is tasty and well presented. They offer live music which creates atmosphere. When I made the reservation I enquired after the genré of music that the band plays, I was told "a kind of afro jazz". This sounded my alley. The band, a 3 man string ensamble, however played music out of the mid 1930's Can Can era. Understandingly, this is not what I was looking forward to. I must howere commend the band for refined renditions. The service was commendable.

This was a lovely venue. The waiter moved our table without asking closer to the live music. The tapas menus was incredible. lamb Croquettes, BBQ chicken spring rolls & corn ribs were amazing. Recommend. Unfortunately the Malva pudding was very dry, almost like a traybake cake which was not expected given the high quality of their mains. We did mention this to them and they deducted it from the bill. Overall, music was great, mains were great and the service was also top notch.

We were keen to enjoy a dinner and live musical performance and booked at The Piano Bar one Friday evening. Reservations are required as there wasn't a table free. We ordered several tapas plates to share between the 3 of us throughout the evening, sipped on wine, and listened to the band and their incredibly talented singer. The music wasn't overbearing, and so we were still able to enjoy a conversation. And the indoor fireplace set the tone for a cozy, somewhat romantic winter evening. Our waiter was superb, and each tapas was tasty and beautifully presented. We will definitely be back as I have too many favorite dishes to try again.

We booked a table and the one they give us was nearby the bar. We were basically spending the night with the bartenders. we went here, especially for the live music in to see a live band. if you are lucky, you might see them, but there’s not a lot of tables that offers a view on the stage. The stage is ill positioned, only a few tables can see it. We ordered food and was way too salty. The waiters were very kind, however. If you like live music, maybe better go for the drink but not for dinner I do not recommend.

Friendly staff. Seating too cramped. Music good. Portions tiny. Taste of food very average. I've eaten better tasting food at the Spur. Not value for money at all. Really spoiled my birthday celebration. I can't believe I allowed myself to dine here. Won't recommend to any fine dining food lover. How do you justify these type of prices combine with average quality and tiny portions. Wish I didn't go there. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

A Hidden gem in Cape Town! The live music was so well paired with my wine. Absolutely beautiful location and atmosphere with wholesome vibes. A unique fine dining instagramable experience. Will be back. Great first date spot.

3 of us visited this bar on Nov 25th 2021 and what a fabulous night we had. Both the singer and the pianist were amazing to top it all, superb tapas food. Excellent friendly service makes this a must. It was certainly a night to remember and a Great start to our Holiday.

Food beautiful prepared and tasty, however the portion sizes were so tiny that we left hungry after 7 tapas plates (between 2 of us). The prices charged are what you’d expect to pay for a full portion meal so unfortunately not value for money at all. Probably a better option if you’re just looking for a drink and snack.

Surprisingly tasteful tapas. Really enjoyed the roccolini and sweet potato dishes. Serenaded by a very talented pianist the whole evening---if you enjoy live tunes in a homey setting, you gotta try this place!

The drinks are amazing and staff is friendly. However, Google has the wrong hours and they actually close at 11pm (at least the staff said we couldn’t get drinks after 11) which was kind of a bummer since we wanted to hangout more after getting one drink. Also the Piano Show does end early so don’t expect anything to happen at this bar past 10pm.

Nice little place. Cocktails and wine was great, the location was so near our AirB&B, the lady at the piano sang so beautifully. And there was a projector playing old school pictures films I haven’t seen in quite a while. Had a lovely experience.

I was fairly disappointed in my experience. The food took 50 minutes to arrive with no apology or explanation. Considering it’s supposed to be a tapas menu, I’m not sure how much sense this makes. Our waiter was new, so the service was very poor, but even the manager didn’t seem to know who our waiter was when she came to check on us. The Martini I ordered was watered down and not good. The selection of wines by the glass is inexcusably low. The digital menu has incorrect prices on it. Above all else, the food was just bad. My tuna tartar was flavourless and unpleasantly textured (why so much deep fried rice? I could barely detect the tuna) and my chunky potato’s came with an incredibly boring sauce. For the price tag, the experience was awful. However, the live music saved the night from being truly ghastly.

This place was recommended to me by a local friend. I was looking for a nice relaxed athomsphere with good food, wine but not too fancy. And this place was the perfect mix for that! The food was just incredible, we had seared tuna, chocolate fondant and many other tapas-stlye dishes but the tuna and choc fondant really stood out! The service was just great! The staffs recommendations were on point and they kept coming (but not too annoying) to see if we need anything. When I ordered the desert, unfortunately the kitchen was already closed but then 5 mins. later the waiter came over to tell me that the chef would make an exception and I can still have the choc fondant and OH MY GOD, thankfully I could experience this delicious dish! All in all, I highly recommend this place whether you're going on a date, having a nice meal with a friend or your partner or even by yourself, you can sit and relax and listen to the live piano music.

Music is awesome. Nice place. Food isnt that great and extremely over priced. Not really catering for locals as paying R100 for n glass of mcc is quite ridiculous. The novelty is there i guess?? For tourist. But after spending R 800 on dinner for 2 people just to get take aways on the way home because we were both starving was quite disappointing. Lacks value for money.

Another brilliant night out at Piano Bar, celebrating a dear friend's birthday. We were once again impressed with the great service from professional staff, their absolutely delicious, well presented, exotic tapas menu, and the excellent live music performance which adds to a fun and sophisticated night out. We love you, Piano Bar, the true gem of de Waterkant!

Love this place! Good quality music and always fun to talk to people from all over the world there. Jazz nights and the best nights!

Worth a try because staff is surprisingly aware when it comes to gluten-free options in the detail of their menu and the music is simply awesome. Dishes have really nice crossings of flavored nuances, high standards in a chill ambiance - keep the groove guys! Oh and they have a popcorn machine :)

The atmosphere is very pleasant and unique. The selection of musicians is quite diverse. The service is friendly and timely. The food is surprisingly unique and very delicious. However, everything is a bit on the expensive side. Perhaps that's expected for a place in the CBD.

We had a wonderful evening here. Phumi took great, unobtrusive care of us from the moment we walked in the door, seating us on the balcony until a table became available inside. The tapas plates were creative and very tasty, and vegetarians were well catered for. The live music added greatly to the atmosphere and our overall enjoyment. Definitely reserve in advance; we took our chances with a walk-up in the off-season, and only squeaked in.

Had a great dinner here , reservations seem to be necessary! But I was a walk in and got a relatively good table with a great view … very central and food delicious ! Happy hour was great

The ambiance created by the live music and the place itself is intimate, yet still playful and fun. The drinks selection and food value proposition can definately be improved upon whilst the service were respectful. We had a lovely time and I'd still recommend the experience.
