Definitely not hard choice giving the 5 stars, been here a handful of times. Same experience. Great service, really fast and polite. Tv's for watching sport makes the atmosphere great. Food and drink has a great variety and not at all expensive. With specials every day and different hours of the day. We ate a pizza and wings. Very tasty. Great place for a lekker kuier or just a quick drink or meal. I enjoyed every aspect of my visit. Recommend 10/10

Awesome bar service, craft beer and burger specials. The barman is a conversationalist and stays on task when it comes to refilling your glass. Had a great time catching up with a friend after being away from Cape Town. Definitely a new hang out and alternative to my usual Tiger's Milk fix😉

Well this is one place you have to check out if ever in CapeTown.. The food is unbelievably affordable and well prepared. The drinks ice cold and all.. I love it

Lunch session was slow. Apparently our waiter took that to heart. Despite being less than half full, everything took ages (well over an hour for food to arrive...). To add insult to injury, 10% was added to our bill, despite there being no policy on the menu or otherwise visible to clients. No choice in that. Restaurants will often do that for big groups. We were 4. The cheek was compound by prominently adding space on the bill FOR A GRATUITY! 😂 The food was ok, and it's reasonably priced, otherwise it would have been only 2 stars. Will definitely not choose to return

This is a typical pub, my local go-to pub for a chilled beer and cheerful vibe. A great place to grab a beer after the beach, or work, or gym, or a fight with the mr/mrs, or to meet friends, or whatever other excuse you can think of.

Great local spot for sports games and drinks or lunch and dinner with mates. Delicious food. Great vibe. Awesome staff. Van Hunks never disappoints. Always a fun time. Super atmosphere, best place in the city to have drinks, food and a great time. Delicious meals, especially pork schnitzel, sirloin steak, pizzas, beef burgers and even the red curry. Great affordable lunch specials too.

Van hunks has always impressed me, from their service, atmosphere, music, to their food, however, they wowed me on the night of the Rugby World Cup finals. It was busy, with many demanding customers, however, their staff was so efficient, & handled orders so professionally & well. There were no long waits for our orders, & we were served with a smile at all times. I was in awe of how calm & efficient the staff was amongst the chaos of the cheering rugby supporters. The vibe was FANtastic! A special mention to the manager Jaun, & to Trevor… a job well done on running the place so well & for always being such excellent hosts. Definitely my favourite watering-hole!

This a a real old school pub feel with friendly staff that make you feel like you've been part of the furniture for twenty years. Prices are good 😁 Food is amazing!!!!

Van Hunks TUES special on ribs platters are are the an absolutely delicious and well priced for the special. The meat just falls off the bone and the sauce is unbelievably tasty. Hand down the best ribs I've ever had. Highly recommend Van Hunks Tuesday Ribs Special!

One of the best places in Cape Town! Prime spot, nice view over Kloof Street and Devil's Peak, good specials, great atmosphere and above all, the staff is always very friendly and extremely efficient. They are the reason I always go back. Van Hunks should be a stop for every person coming to Cape Town for a short or long stay. (Try their mussel pot lunch special with a glass of Chardonnay).

Great service but food and drinks were a let down. The beer was just about cold and the pizza was about as exciting as watching paint dry. Quite flavoureless. Also we had 2 unfortunate incidents occur through no fault of our own.

A friend and I shared a birthday celebration there with a few friends. The service was impeccable (despite it being a large group) and everyone loved their food. It is also very reasonably priced. The staff were incredibly attentive. Definitely make sure Van Hunks is on your list of places to go if you have not already been.

Rib pizza was bland and on a very thin base. No crunch, more wrap style Not what I expected. Spare ribs were very tender and delicious. Alfredo pasta was creamy and delicious. Burger was huge and delicious. Half chicken portion was big and very tasty. Service was excellent. Security very good around the venue. Wheelchair friendly. Very nice smoking area.

Great bar and restaurant that is an institution in the city bowl. Plenty of seating in the restaurant area or outside on the deck and in the actual bar. Great for sports and always packed with an electric vibe. Good selection of beers on tap and lots of drink options and wines etc. Good is easy eating and something for everyone,like pizza ,burgers, fish n chips, chicken wings, steak and even the odd salad or healthier wrap. Can get quite rowdy and stays open till late! Great spot!

This was a good night. We were situated by the fireplace,the food and the staff were excellent. I would really enjoy coming here on a more regular basis. It has that rare quality of being both casual and able to create a close knit environment.

Van Hunks Restaurant and Bar offers a unique and lively vibe, were you are offered a large variety of beers - including local favourites as well as craft selections. Their menu is grill focused - we enjoyed their. delicious Monday burger special. Which met our every expectations as advertised. The service was good, but could be slightly more attentive. We will be back to enjoy some more pub grub.

Wonderful staff.

Had a really wack fish n chips. Fish was mushy and watery, tartar sauce was watery. Service took forever and it wasn't even a busy day.
