Absolutely great dinner with the family this evening! Ordered the meat tasting Thali, which was the perfect amount of food for 2 adults and our 2 kids. Excellent flavours in all the dishes, great service, and ambience. Overall a wonderful (and very affordable for fine dining!) experience.

Excellent food and service as would be expected. We sat outside in the courtyard which was quaint but lacked any breeze in the summer heat. Chairs didn't have cushioning. The theme of India and its cuisine was evident throughout the restaurant including the rustic restrooms. Parking is not possible outside, use nearby paid parkade.

Really impressive experience. The Indian food served in sharing platters is such a great concept. Fun with a great vibe. The dishes also were excellent, each course perfectly spiced and well balanced, great that the spice levels go up as you progress, so that the next course is equally punchy. Service time also quite good. The only reason I wont give 5 stars is the long wait to get my table, as they don’t accept reservations.

EXCELLENT service from a restaurant that I already had high expectations of. From small touches like everyone greeting you as you walk into the restaurant to the perfect balance of attentiveness and friendliness but also not too much fuss and hovering. The food was fantastic (recommend doing the at menu). Try surmounted if weather permits.

Wow what an amazing experience. Thali is part of the famous Chef’s Warehouse brand/group. It is an Indian restaurant. They have a set menu comprising three courses. All the food was really really good, the flavors and spices were amazing. Service was excellent and prices are reasonable for what you get. The place has a nice vibe and is ideal for a date night or night out with friends. It is well decorated. Overall 10/10.

Really nice atmosphere. We ended up having the private room upstairs to ourselves. I think sitting downstairs by the bar could also be fun. Interesting combination of flavors in the dishes. I think you have to be open to it. But I did quite like it. Great cocktails too. Friendly staff.

One of the best experiences I ever had this year. This place is really really good. They offer a new take on Indian cuisine in a really smart way. The food is inventive yet served in a classic family style way. The food is super delicious I ended up buying their book.

Explosion of Indian flavours, you get some really unique flavours coming through and each dish complements each other. Come hungry as you get so much food. Very good value for money. Not 5 stars for me though, as I have been a couple of times before and service was fantastic. Tonight the service and was extremely slow we sat down at 6pm and left at 10:15pm. Took over two hours between our first and second courses.

A must if you are in Cape Town and you like Modern Indian food. The concept base on a menu with 3 courses and around about 8 different dishes to share with a person. Vegetarian/Vegan options are also available. Service, food and atmosphere is excellent. Inner courtyard also available. Be on time or make a reservation!

Modern Indian cuisine at its finest with great ambience. 🇮🇳 Thali for two includes tapas bought to you in three phases (we added the oysters but probably not necessary as the food provided was more than sufficient).

Delicious and generous set menu. Presentation, service and flavors were outstanding, unfortunately let down by the lack of something sweet at the end of the meal, hence the 4 stars. Traditional Indian is not only about the food, but also about the sweet treat. The menu should have included and the meal should have ended off with a serving of soji, sev (vermicilli) or halwa with icecream/khulfi or a small plate with some Indian sweet methi like bhurfi and jalebi. There is a dessert menu, but very limited. We would have preferred paying more to get the full Indian experience

I cannot stop thinking about this fabulous restaurant! You get a three-course meal of extravagant proportions, with dozens of tantalizing flavors and things to try! We had the vegetarian option, which was fabulous. It's intentionally set up to be an experience - hours of dining, tasting, talking, and basking in the environment. My only regret is that we were too full to eat all of it. And I have to mention the cocktail menu too- absolutely top notch!

Unique concept, good food. Amazing presentation of the food, the arrival of the mains created an exciting experience. Relaxed ambiance with cozy indoor and outdoor seating areas which has a rustic feel to it. The outdoor chairs are uncomfortable to sit on for few hours.

Fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for great food and a memorable evening. Food is excellent, great flavors, nice presentation and unique multi course offering. I did the fish option and was very pleased!! They also have meat or vegetarian. You need to come by 6:30pm for a table in the early seating. This place is very popular.

Great spot if you’re looking for authentic Indian tapas in Cape Town. The portions are big and it’s a lot of food and everything is always delicious. The servers are always so friendly and knowledgeable. This is my 6th time there and will certainly be back again!

We had a mixed experience at Thali, but on the whole we enjoyed ourselves. The first two courses were absolutely delicious! We started with a vegetarian platter filled with interesting flavours. The second course was a line-fish sashimi with cooked mussels and this was spectacular. Maybe some of the best seafood I've had in a while. The final course were two curries, which were technically brilliant - soft meat, glossy sauce - but lacked in flavour. There are other more affordable places where you can get better curry in Cape Town. They have a lovely drinks and wine collection, however they do the "fancy restaurant" thing where they take your wine bottle away and top it up as needed. Unfortunately they completely forgot about us and we had to ask twice for someone to refill our glasses. The waiters also seemed quite flustered and lacking in confidence, which I think is a training/capacity issue. Thali should either halve the number of people they serve, or double the waiting staff. In summary, I think it's a fun restaurant to try and I would recommend going (there is the potential for a wonderful experience), but I don't think we will be returning.

Thali offers an unforgettable dining experience. The sharing platters for 2 are bursting with delicious and spicy flavours. The service is exceptional, and the ambiance is fantastic. A must-visit if you’re in Cape Town

COVID 19 spreading Hotspot. No distance at all. Lack of precautions. Beside that, this restaurant cooks everything except Indian. The fact that Thali is owned by the Chefs Warehouse group makes me quite sad, than the other restaurants are exzellent. Food is terrible and the service is more than overwhelmed unskilled and slow. Sorry

Fantastic experience, the place was packed when we went - wonderful atmosphere. Watching the kitchen work was exhilarating! The food was divine - highlights being the starters, mussels and sashimi. The mains: the lamb curry seriously needed salt. It also become quite a rip off for the 3rd person - an additional R400 for only 1 dish extra per course. Overall we had a wonderful evening!

No. Cultural appropriation to the fullest. Nothing Desi about this place. Just a place where a couple of white guys from SA thought they could mimic Desi style of food font and ambience and make money. In Cape Town of all places where the history of segregation and apartheid is still very very visible. Stay Away.

Wow! This place was awesome. Really liked the concept of ordering a menu type e.g meat or veggie and being served lots of delicious dishes. All the food was tasty but The seafood curry was standout! We were so full after but loved the experience. Really recommend trying Thali!

Amazing Indian food, spanning a variety of flavors, ingredients, and textures. Service was prompt and attentive. Cocktails are on the sweeter side, even the ones that are meant to be “dry.”

Fabulous food and fantastic service in the restaurant - my only issue is that I contacted the restaurant via email in the week preceding our visit and to date no one has bothered to respond to my email. It’s a shame as it gives me the impression that customers aren’t valued…but I simply cannot fault the quality or quantity of food, simply delicious. Just sort out your communication please!

I came for the food but was thrilled with the cocktails. The kiwi + green tea mojito was delicious and the tapas were lovely! Friendly knowledgeable staff!

Second visit to a restaurant we really enjoyed the first time but our second visit with friends was really disappointing. The food was all really hotly spiced rather than a mixture of hot and mild , not great quality at all. We were really surprised after we had enjoyed our first visit so much. The taco shells seemed a weird choice for an Indian restaurant??

We had the most amazing dinner at Thali’s. We love Indian cuisine, often trying different expressions back home in the UK but this is the best we’ve experienced. The service and setting were great. Loved the variety of the food, though the tandoori chicken kebabs were a personal highlight!

Thali is situated in a super cool part of town between fat cactus and the wellness centre on kloof. I loved the deep depth of flavor regarding acidity, flavor and heat. The coal tail we had was a cashew and rum spiked lassy!! A definite recommendation when having the spicy food. Also they have a cookbook as well where you may purchase. A great thank you to the chefs, Nathaniel, Byron and Liam.

We’ve had the set menu and were totally amazed! Quite pricy for capetown but totally worth the money! We had 3 courses with amazing tapas and an Incredible drink with it.

One if the fabulous Chef Warehouse brand. Beautiful cozy chic ambiance. The food is just unbelievable. A firework of flavours. Had the tika chicken kebab, the venison (quite spicy) and duck with a whole naan and pilau rice. Excellent and friendly service (Eddy). Will definitely come back very soon. Came back in September 2021. Was as delicious and full of flavors

I was looking forward to going to Thali for the longest time. The service and drinks were amazing however the food was a let down. The first two courses were great but the chicken vindaloo and seafood curry were a complete let down. Almost tasted like baby food and the tomatoes in the salsa tasted off.

Been here a several times over the past few years. Regrettably went from one of my favorite places for a special dinner, to thinking twice before going or recommend. It somehow managed to be packaged tour/conveyer belt/tourist trap. Little innovation on the menu over the years. Lost flavor and charm. The last time service was slow and messy. Really unfortunate- expect more.

  • 4/5 Suzie G. 1 year ago on Google
Great decor and tasty food. This restaurant offers vegan, vegetarian and carnivore menus. They say it's tapas.... well, the amount of food adds up to 3 main courses rather so make sure you arrive very hungry. I would recommend to visit as a treat.

One of the most delicious, tasty and moorish meals I’ve had in a very long time. Thali in Park road. I’ve eaten here a few times over the years ( their menu changes from time to time). Its always an exceptionally exciting dining experience. First course : chicken kebabs, corn, cauliflower, lentil Dahl and all sorts if accompanying dishes. My tastes buds did several happy dances. Second course: duck taco and ceviche truly a mind blowing taste experience. Third course : lamb curry and seafood curry It’s designed as a sharing menu between 2 at R950. So you get to taste all the options on the menu. Needless to say we all had a wonderful evening and will most certainly be back soon. Fantastic service, incredible food presentation, lovely warm and cosy ambience. Bravo Chef Liam Tomlin👏🏼 and team. Thali is always an absolute winner⭐️

We had dinner here and thought it was very tasty, although really spicy! Be prepared for some authentic Indian spiciness! We were a bit disappointed with the service, kinda felt like our waiter was doing the bare minimum whilst we saw others really going out and about for their guests. We always had to look out and call if we needed something and then it still took a while until we were served.

10/10 ! It was a fixed menu of 3 courses (meat / pesc / veg), but all the food was unbelievably good so no disappointments. The restaurant is great inside and of course the staff were a delight! Highly recommend as a must when visiting and / or debating where to eat! We were 4 and ordered two menus (2 per menu) and were stuffed. See my photos for 2 of 3 courses and portion expectations.

Very tasty food especially if you like fusion Indian cuisine. You can choose a menu for two people which is carefully selected courses also the desserts are delicious. The cocktails should be tested because they are excellent as well.

Recommended stop in Capetown for a great meal. Fantastic and interesting menus

  • 4/5 Colin D. 4 years ago on Google
Thought the whole experience was very good, service really good. Way too much food, also overpriced. With the set menu it is fairly conveyor belt style. Possibly a reduced more flavourful menu, bringing the price down a little bit.

Such lovely food and culinary experience! Would highly recommend this place, the food was delicious and great vibe too! They don't take reservations, so good to head early or alternatively enjoy the wait for your table at their lovely bar!

  • 2/5 Heather S. 4 years ago on Google
Came here for dinner last night and was fully intending to leave a 5 star review, the food was delicious (the first course in particular was amazing) however my partner woke up in the early hours with horrendous food poisoning, and we can only put it down to the cured trout dish - the only thing I didn't share (and the only thing she ate all day that could be at all suspicious). Such a shame as we genuinely really enjoyed the place otherwise :(

Thali was such a wonderful experience that it was now the second time I had to go while visiting from Joburg. The front of house and waitresses are so friendly and the food is truly something different. Service just seemed a bit rushed this last time but I can’t recommend it enough!

Nice scenery and decent service. Personally I find the menu quite limiting and expensive to the point I can't really justify recommending this experience. There are plenty of better options in the area. Unless you are a die-hard fan of Indian fusion (sashimi is hardly a part of their cuisine), would probably do my research before making the decision to try Thali.
