HOW TO GET IN: go to the top gate (the one opposite the hospital) not the bottom gate (the makeshift washing line). If you loiter there for two minutes an employee will come and open for you. Rust en Vreugd is the strangest tourist attraction in Cape Town. The beautiful facade and garden conceal a deteriorating interior, most of which is empty, some of which is packed with modern furniture. Therefore, even the interesting paintings don't quite save it from feeling like an abandoned conference center. The Staff are very friendly and I saw unusual birds in the garden. Much to my disappointment, the ghost did not turn up.

Amazing once you go inside, full of historic art and furniture.

Don't waste your R20 to enter, not much to see inside and trying to get inside is not easy you wait for a long time for someone to open, the entrance is the gate directly opposite the hospital

Rust en Vreugd, is a historic house and garden, located on Buitekant Street at the edge of the central business district of Cape Town, South Africa. It is one of the few remaining 18th-century buildings in the city. The Rust en Vreudg is home to the William Fehr Collection of pictorial Africana.

One of the beautiful gardens I've ever seen. Small but refreshing.

Very disappointed. Very little furniture in the house. Property needs a lot of maintenance and upstairs of the house not open for public. Only accepts cash. Don't think I will return until I hear improvements have been done.

Visited last week. The building and grounds are seriously neglected. What ought to be one of the country's museological gems appears to have been removed from maintenance schedules. The small collection of historical prints and water-colours is worth seeing.

Beautiful venue for an outdoor wedding event reception. Lovely garden area and quaint pink building. Parking area isn't too great .

Little visited small museum, about which you will not find much information in the travel guides. The Patricier's House itself is well preserved and worth a visit if you want to see 18th-century colonial architecture, but the building is in urgent need of maintenance. The small collection is not very special and the first floor is empty, although you can go to the balcony. What is surprising is the park-like garden, a great place for a family picnic. It is remarkable that there is also a speedboat on a trailer on the site. This museum clearly needs a boost.

Lovely gem of Old Cape Town, the William Fehr Collection and the building itself tell an interesting story if you manage to be there on a Thursday or a Friday (only)!

The food are good, however the service needs a little work. The chef is not a very friendly person but his food are good.

absolutely the worst experience I have ever had dealing with any institution. The staff were rude. On my wedding day they tried to kick out my guests as they said we only paid until 1pm even though we paid extra time until 3:30
